SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITY AND WHY ITS IMPORTANT

system responsibility is essentially taking responsibility for the actions of all of your alters, even if you werent the alter who did the action. this is important because all alters are part of one collective whole and are not literally separate people, even if they feel like such. they are all dissociated parts of one brain and need to take accountability for all actions done by all parts of that brain for example, if one of your alters upsets someone, you still need to apologize to the person even if it wasnt you as an alter who upset them. being a system is never an excuse to not take accountability for bad behavior, even if it was technically another alter or if you dont remember it. excusing bad behavior with "oh i have DID/OSDD and it wasnt me" just makes other systems look bad, and thats the last thing we need with all the stigma we already face i genuinely dont understand why some people are so against system accountability, it isnt hard to take accountability for actions taken by your own brain in your own body. if your alters are genuinely hurting people you need to evaluate why that is happening and take steps to fix it, not just excuse it because "it was another alter" - grey and roman

⚠️calling all systems with BPD!!! ⚠️

Me and another alter have integrated and I have absolutely no idea who I am anymore!!!!! I struggle really bad with who I am as a person due to bpd but I managed to whittle it down to a few things that feel "yes. That's me". But now I've integrated and the alter I integrated with had quite a dominant personality and the things that feel like me no longer feel like me???? Y'know????? Who am I now? Idk. Even my colour scheme that I chose for myself is different (everyone in system has a colour scheme). Kinda mourning who I was. Kinda mourning the alter cuz I miss him even if he's in me now. How do I figure out who I am now? Will I feel like this every time I integrate with someone? (This is our first system integration). Any advice is helpful advice!!! Even if you wanna just share your experience would help, I don't wanna feel alone in this TwT. Thank you for reading if you made it this far!!!!

Being a system and having maladaptive daydreaming disorder is so confusing sometimes. I have multiple characters that I have created over the years and have strong emotional connections to them. My Paras are so much more than regular OCs to me. They're almost like real people to me and are part of my daydreams that I have because of my MaDD.

Sometimes I wonder if some of these could be alters that I'm just in denial about. It's hard to know what's a daydream person and what's an alter in our system. It can really be confusing, especially since I'm the host of this system. I know for sure there's five alters (including me, Elliot, Phoenix, Cheese, and Light). But there may be more of us, and I just don't know. Light may not be only fictive either.

If anyone has suggestions with this, let us know!

semi hot take: online communities should stop policing what language a system uses to describe their experiences. Like I prefer using parts language instead of considering alters separate people and I also use singular pronouns to refer to the system as a whole and the number of systems online who think it's okay to harass me for using this language is absurd.

yes i totally agree, we use both parts and alters to refer to us, and we sometimes use plural and sometimes use singular language, both are totally okay and nobody should police anyone elses preferred terminology unless it is genuinely harmful - grey

Friendly reminder if you don’t have an inner world as a system you’re 100% still a valid system.

Even as adults we don’t have an inner world. It’s a black void with doors and those doors are rooms for each alters and even in those room are black voids with some items scattered around. That’s the closest we’ll ever get to an inner world. Others don’t have inner worlds AT ALL and guess what? They’re 100% valid as systems.

It’s all “we support systems!” And “we trust systems!” Until a persecutor does something that the system as a whole has apologized for and made amends for or a protector sets a hard boundary that someone doesn’t like.

It’s always “we love systems!” Until a system steps out of someone’s idea of how systems should act.
