Batman grunts a greeting at the boy Selena has introduced as "Danny" as if it's totally normal for a kid to be hanging out on a rooftop with her, kicking his legs out above the edge as if he's not 20 stories up.
Selena shares an equally amused glance with Danny that has Batman scowling harder than his usual as the boy gets up, stretching out from his hunch to reveal a 6 foot 2 build not unlike Jason's.
"Wow, spot on," Danny whistles, grinning at Selena. "I owe you a twenty."
"Darling," Selena purrs, hand finding purchase on his upper bicep. "I never exaggerate."
"Looks like Catwoman's got a new scratching post, B," Nightwing cackles in his comm, which is probably why Batman finds himself gritting out a--
"Little young for you, isn't he?"
The kid--in a hoodie and jeans, seriously, where did Selena find this guy--stares at him incredulously before his mouth stretches into an uncomfortably wide grin, revealing fairly sharp canines. He strides forward.
"What can I say, Mr. The Batman," he says, placing a hand on the man's shoulder. He must be around the same age as Dick. "I've got a thing for powerful women in black."
"See you for dinner tomorrow Lena," he says, hand lifted in farewell as he heads for the edge. He pushes himself over the wall with one hand, dropping over.
Batman clocks Selena's lack of alarm and doesn't flinch. Thirteen seconds later, there's no resounding thud when Danny's body would've met the pavement and she's still smirking at him.
"No metas in Gotham," he growls.
Selena throws her head back and laughs. "If I see any, I'll be sure to call. Now," she kisses his cheek, "I better go. I've got a date tomorrow."

the idea that evan just doesn't like food always tickles me. like this little guy will return home from dissecting and running experiments on corpses to just eat... a biscuit? a little snack? before bedtime?
we're underestimating the extent to which evan rosier attends to his own bodily upkeep like a fucking robot... i think he returns home from dissecting to sit at his kitchen counter. he sighs laboriously, and then eats his beloved bowl of porridge at 11pm, then he turns to eat a handful of vegetables & protein bars which he's selected to optimize his nutrition. he hates the whole process so it looks like Deadpan Expression -> Loud Bite Of Celery -> Visible Wince -> Repeat
barty is sitting across the table absolutely Housing a burrito just watching this like Bro.....
[ID: Two panels from Dungeon Meshi. The first scows Senshi clutching his face as tears start to spill out of his eyes, saying, "I've always... always wanted to have this soup one more time." He's not wearing his helmet in this panel, so his face is unusually visible, detailed and vulnerable. The second panel shows himself as a youngster, surrounded by his old mining team, all smiling at each other, one of them rubbing Senshi's head. Modern-day Senshi continues, "Thank you. All of you. Thank you." End ID.]
Holy shit. I anticipated some tragic backstory from the "I must feed the young ones" panels, but what I'd guessed was that Senshi might have become so devoted to cooking and eating literally whatever because he'd previously survived a famine and had seen children starve to death. I did not expect him to have been the child who was the sole survivor of a doomed travel party, one of whom was determined to feed Senshi first because he was the youngest, and that Senshi has lived with the fear of having inadvertently committed cannibalism by eating stew that he'd never quite known the contents of. I'm happy for him that Laios deduced and confirmed for him that it was griffin meat, that he was able to taste the meal that saved his life once more and remember the friends he lost. Seriously, I'm crying, and also earnestly relieved that while his backstory is pretty dark, it's not the type of fucked up I'd been preparing myself mentally for.
Oil
Pita
Some salad, olive oil and lemon
Yoghurt, cucumber and lemon
Chillies
Pickled red onions
Method:
Start by mixing together your spices. Add a glug of oil to your mushrooms and then sprinkle the spices on top. Mix well to coat every bit of the mushies.
Now grab a skillet and a bit of oil add in the mushrooms. Add something heavy on top, like another pan or a bowl and press down, let cook for 3-4 mins until charred slightly and then flip the mushrooms and repeat the process.
Now mix together your salad ingredients in a bowl and your yoghurt ingredients in another bowl.
Heat up your flatbread, load on the salad and yoghurt, then the mushroom shawarma and then top with Chillies and pickled red onions and ENJOY!!
Cook super healthy from home in a way that doesn't deplete your energy.
You just bought groceries including a bunch of vegetables and you don't want to deal with the whole process of cooking?
Just chop them and freeze them. It'll take 5–15 minutes depending on how much you've bought. That's all I do right after I buy fresh produce.
The the next day or later in the evening I can meal prep without having to deal with chopping anything. Just take the chopped peppers out and throw it in a pan. And after I cook the meal to last a week or two I just freeze that again.
Now I don't have to cook for like a week. Just heat it up.
It saves sooo much time. I'm eating so much better. I'm saving so much energy.
I even have a dish washing system down. Before I cook I empty the dishwasher. Before I sit down to eat or—if they're not hot, as I use them—I wash my dishes and put it in the dishwasher.
And it's kind of soothing because I'll sit down to eat and there's that hum/wash sound of the dishwasher which I find kind of relaxing.
are amphibians like newts and frogs considered aquatic? i know crustaceans & mollusks would be
Yes they are! Generally, the more time it spends on land, the closer it will be to 5 calories than 4. The estimate was actually based on frogs and tadpoles, I had to make an educated guess.
My best source was a feeding chart from a reptile food website which sells whole small prey for consumption by snakes. It perfectly lists out the values of dozens of small animals, but no fish. So I took a note of the 4 calorie estimate, observed that an adult frog increases in calories compared to tadpoles (bucking the trend with the others on the list where younger animals are worth more caloric value) and went on to do more research
I couldn't find a source that broke down WHOLE prey caloric value like the chart, so I ended up comparing caloric value between rabbit fillets, chicken fillets, and fish fillets on human-centric nutrition websites. My hypothesis was mostly consistent, even with more species added. Fish (perch, flounder, pike) < Wild Mammal (rabbit, squirrel) < Poultry (chicken, turkey, quail). There was overlap between "classes", certain fish getting over the 100 hump, but generally there was a trend I boiled down into 4/5/6
This is consistent with how a lot of fish meat is actually water. In fact, cats quench a lot of their thirst from the food they eat. I also learned some very interesting stuff about the fat distribution in fish which is going to blow a bit of a hole in some of my Clan culture stuff lmaoooo, but I'll furiously swim across that obliterated bridge when I get there
But funfact! Fish oil is rendered fish fats and it is the form that unsaturated fat takes, whereas lard is what saturated fats become. I need to do more research into this topic to understand what kind of difference it would make in a wild cat's diet.
There was one big bucked trend though: salmonid meat was WAAAAY higher in fat and calories. Like, absurdly high. Like 150 cal trout fillet vs 110 cal of rabbit fillet vs 88 cal of perch fillet.
I do not know why that is. My guess is that maybe it's because they were taking the number from farmed salmonids? Maybe it's because they're particularly fatty fish? Perhaps this is just the raw power of salmon slammin'.
Anyway, at one point I was trying to estimate exact caloric value per popular prey species, but decided I didn't have the "backing" to get so exact with the numbers since I was doing estimates with the fish. I'll do the work if it comes down to it, but for now, 4/5/6 is a quick, easy guideline you can use for just about any WC project.
I wish there was more focus in the food world/food media on general everyday healthy eating that isn’t body-focused or diet culturey. Just good vibes nutritious food for everyday. I think Melissa Clark is really good for this, along with a lot of actual cookbooks, but the current pop culture/food media scene is so saturated either with 3 ingredient no flour no sugar 200 calorie lose 20lb nowww videos or workout/training body dysmorphia stuff OR try our ooey gooeyest cheesiest Mac YET triple chocolate fudgey fried brownie clickbait and I just want to figure out what to do with half a head of broccoli or three kilograms of malanga
looking back I do wonder if a lot of *why* food media is like that isn’t some broad question of diet but instead social media programming - both extreme dieting and extremely indulgent comfort food are a kind of vicarious experience for most of the people clicking and it’s rage bait anyway. But it still sucks (esp as it shows another reason social media gamification can destroy a genre)
Do ferrets need a raw meat diet or is fancy cat food ok for them?? I'm getting conflicting answers, I hear a lot of people are against raw feeding dogs and ferrets, but a lot say kibble is bad
I wish we had mithrun in laios guild inside the dungeon for a while, I think that the need if caring for someone senshi has and mithrun's need of assistance would complement each other
