Ik horror film characters aren't normally relatable or kin-able, however, if they so happen to survive quite a few films in a franchise, is that exceptional? In the Scream franchise, because some characters have survived at least a few films, we get to see more of their character and I wonder what other horror films are like that. I even catch myself relating to a few of the Scream characters, which is WEIRD since horror film characters SHOULDN'T be attached to since we all expect them to eventually die horrifically. Horror is a tragic way to relate to characters, is it?

Been listening to the Carrie musical (so good btw, pls take a listen) and drew the star herself, Carrie White. Added some alt images.

I love Carrie so much. I seriously relate to her so much more than I can describe.

Socially awkward, bullied in multiple ways, outcasted since she was young, grown up in a religious household and pressure, having religious trauma and fear, built up rage, day dreaming and social anxiety, isolation, people pleasing, feeling as if kind gestures are some sort of prank, and last of all…seeing that comparison and her completely destroying everyone and everything that hurt her and then disappearing with it—having some sort of peace. Watching it all burn after the final straw snaps. The ultimate fantasy.

I often think about how much I relate to Frodo Baggins until I remember that he's canonically a tiny hairy-footed, middle-aged man looking like an early 20-something who lives in a teletubby house and is jobless because his second-cousin-turned-uncle stole a dragon's fortune decades ago - along with some magic evil jewellry he needs to destroy to save the world

tldr; i think once we as a fandom acknowledge that like 95% of us are using characters to SI and self-ship we’ll be better off

Apropos of nothing, I think fans projecting onto fictional characters then insisting those projections are real has been so detrimental to the fandom ecosystem vis-a-vis hindering the creation & exchange of headcanons and re-imaginings. I think it's also been bad for the mental health of a lot of folks because any rejection of those projections becomes not only a creative disagreement but a personal attack.
