Misogyny in the HP fandom

I believe it is the height of misogyny to think that it’s a woman’s role to save a man from his own stupid decisions.

If Lily was a man and Snape was a woman, nobody would blame Lily for ditching Snape as a friend. Instead they’d be asking why tf it took Lily so long to get rid of Snape (which is an excellent point!)

I lied. Put your clothes back on. I’m going to tell you that this fandom quite literally hates happiness and that proves itself through Jily. Background/Past Jily in fics and canon Jily is almost always displayed as an easy-going, simple, or perfect relationship and this leads people to find the ship dull. Without angst or a trope that makes the relationship seem forbidden or “wrong” people do not find excitement in the ship. Furthermore, despite Lily’s character having a sad/angsty backstory with her sister and life at Hogwarts as a muggle-born, people do not find her interesting enough to build off of that and see how that could affect how she would view/act in a romantic relationship. Lily Evans very easily could have rejected James repeatedly because she felt as though she couldn’t be loved or she was inadequate.
