A new enemy comes along, with armies as vast as the continent, ready to face the Night Court.

The valleys between the mountains and the outskirts of the territory are overflowing with soldiers, monsters and unfathomable beasts.

They come to a halt when they finally encounter resistance, the infinite wall of Illyrians that the Royals of the Court sent to stop the invasion. Fools. All of them, just a bunch of fools for thinking their puny power can withstand what awaits.

Especially that General Bloodshed they heard so much about back home. He cannot begin to understand the power this army possesses. Nor can the Spymaster that so coolly is assessing the battlefield. A laugh escapes the Commander, who’s already deciding how their bones are going to break.

But then. Then the sun somehow disappears, as the light leaves the world for a moment. As a storm approaches, dark and flowing.

But those are no clouds, not in the traditional sense anyway.

The world seems to halt, as if holding its breath. The very ground seems to shake as a horde of Pegasi overpowers the sky.

A new General enters the battle, clad in black as black is her Pegasus, unmistakably in command of another kind of army. Her eyes grey as the storm she seems to contain, her power sending a shudder through the air.

There are only legends about them back home, stories and fables of old, but it is clear why the moment two other Pegasi flank the carbon one, one of purest white and one of shiniest gold. Their riders grinning with glee in their teal and hazel eyes.

Nobody had ever walked away alive to reveal the Court’s prized secret.

Valkyries.
