Inner Princess

I’ve got one; you’ve probably got one too: an inner princess. She prefers luxury hotels, sparkling wine and men who hold open doors for her. Neither diva nor debutante, she is glamorous and sophisticated, worldly and well read. My inner princess is made-up. She’s a persona I use with a wink and a smile while appreciating moments of the good life. She’s not the real me who sweats a bit too much…

I think the saddest day in most little girls life is when her parents tell her she can't wear that princess dress to school because they don't want her to feel out of place. But really that is the day that little girl will forever be aware that there is even a 'social norm' of appropriate and 'inappropriate' clothing. Shame on you parents for discouraging her. And shame on the parents who teach their kids to not accept the girl in the princess dress. I think this is why my ideal outfit is a hot pink 80's pencil dress while society is wearing the expected, or as I call it the 'The Pintrest Board of The 9-5ers'. Do yourself a favor, and wear what you want, if it is jeans and a band tee, or a lace 1960s wiggle dress. Just express yourself, and don't let other peoples comments of 'normal' discourage you from doing that!

Just thinking out loud... on tumblr... looking at my closet of 'silly little dresses' that I love so much ;-)
