SJM reeks of money. she cannot write a poor family to save her life. the cabin years writing was so minimal and hollow and caricature-esque and filled with gaping plot holes

the closest you Get to any kind of poverty trauma with Feyre is her feeling bad about spending money. there are so, so many factors to consider when it comes to poverty besides just morality over spending money or not

hoarding money

binging and purging money

how you eat

what you eat

what you wear

how you protect what you already have

bitterness and Jealousy with ppl who do have money

being poor and feeling worse when you cannot help someone else who is also poor and struggling (like panhandling)

etc

if I was Feyre I'd be mortified if I had five houses. I'd be embarrassed to live in a giant house (let alone FIVE) while Cassian has to hand out BLANKETS in Illyria. I'd be judging the IC for how they spend the money (which isn't even theirs. "Rhys money" is all blood money and from taxes BE real) and then condemn Nesta for blowing a drop of Rhys' blood money on booze

statistically poor people help each other and give more than wealthy people Ever did. Cassian should also be embarrassed as hell by the IC and how they spend money and their attitudes towards the Illyrians and other poorer fae and even how Nesta spends "Rhys' money"

in both ToG and aCoTaR the series end with the main character flush with more money than they know what to do with it and they're married. it's like one step away from Trad Wife smh

poverty is inherently traumatic and affects people on every. single. level. from what we eat to what we wear to who we spend time with to what time we even have to spend

I love that this video pointed out Rhys being cruel for cruelty's sake because like. how can people read him being actively cruel to people he doesn't like just because they FAilEd FeYrE or whatthefuckever but then he can't be cruel for the sake of the innocents in Illyria or the CoN

Rhysand trespassed onto the Spring Courts property (AGAIN) to goad and harass Tamlin after Feyre destroyed his court. after he saved Feyre, Azriel and Elains life. after he helped bring *rhysand back from the dead*

you know how that reads to me? Rhysand is insecure. he has to prove he's the bigger and better person than Tamlin because there was no way that Rhysand would ever give the same kind of grace to Tamlin after Tamlin or Tamlins Mate destroyed his life and all it did was prove he's a bully

Tamlin is actually such an underrated character in acotar. Because of feyres very biased narrative she forces readers to ignore the complexity of his character and man. its sad

Tamlin is a character who is genuinely GOOD at his core. He changed so much of the spring court for good, eliminating slavery within the spring lands and mortals having more protection. Hes a morally good character that made a few mistakes and is boiled down to just those mistakes. Locking feyre in the house and the magical/emotional blow up, which are both pretty decent fuck ups (i dont think siding with hybern fully counts as he was a double agent all along and tamlin was decently justified in thinking feyre was being kept against her will. lets be fr here) and even after he’s extremely fucked over by the nightcourt, his lands and court burned to shit, he still saves rhysand. Saves rhysand and tells feyre to be happy, even when he has every reason to NOT do that!

Hes a character that clearly holds himself to a higher standard. throughout acotar he puts lucien and feyres safety above his own, even sending feyre away when she was the only one who could save him. Even though what he did to her wasnt great its not completely irredeemable, rhysand did much worse things to feyre and other people but hes living his best life while Tamlin seems to find himself unworthy of being a person (acosf wheres hes been in beast form for roughly over two years) hes a perfectionist who now doesnt even think he deserves anyone because he accidentally hurt the people he loves most.

Sjm accidentally created a beautifully rich and morally righteous character who is so extremely fucked by the narrative. Which doesnt even work half the time as sjm cant seemingly commit to making him a full villain (seemingly by accident again she gave him quite a reasonable explanation to everything he did ‘wrong’ but still chooses to make him a punching bag)

If Tamlin was genuinely a morally evil character he wouldnt have NEARLY the amount of fans as he does. Hes a character that requires the minimum amount of media literacy and comprehension to understand and i LOVE him.

I have a Tamlin bittersweet headcanon that won't leave my mind, so of course I'll share it here:

So, I absolutely love the idea of Tamlin having children no matter how many boys or girls. But, I find myself thinking all the time: what if Tamlin ended up having a family configuration exactly like his own??? By that I mean he meets his own mate (I so hope for that), she becomes Lady of Spring after their marriage, and they have 3 sons.

After his last boy is born, he finds himself wondering how ironic it is that he ended up having a family structure indentical to his former one. Only now he is no longer the kid, he is the father and the husband, and this is such a bittersweet thought because just now he realizes the extent of his father's cruelty and his mother's omission. Because only now that Tamlin has his own family does he understands how so very simple it is to treat his sons with care and kindness, how so very natural it is to treat his wife with respect and tenderness, how so so very easy it is to love all four members of his little and precious family with the full power of his heart. And only in that moment all things really come full circle, and a long cycle of neglect and violence is appeased. His wife is not going to meet the fate of his mother and his sons will not know his sorrows.

He is not his father.

Day off Tamlin! Who likes to follow you around, hidden, as you pick flowers until you notice that he's not occupied with work

Day off Tamlin! Who flits around your ear disguised as a bumblebee, and when you scream and swat at him he shifts back into your tam, doubled over, laughing because he lives for teasing and taunting you sometimes

Day off Tamlin! Who wraps his arms around you as you fret, whispering sweet nothings and promises that he's sorry and he didnt mean to scare you, but then he gets that mischevious grin again that only you tend to see

Day off Tamlin! Who tells you theres something he wants to show you, but wont do it unless you agree to his bargain- a kiss, wherever he wants to place it.

Day off Tamlin! Who whisks you away to the hidden rabbit den in the western woods where some of his favorite mushroom fae mine them as pets

Day off Tamlin! Who lays on the forest floor, you breathing softly atop him as you doze, surrounded by bunnies snuggled up to you both
