My issue with the Jinmao Fandom

I just wanted to talk about this because ever since the frog episodes, this thing that has been bothering me about the fandom for so long has gotten too big to ignore. First of all, I want to say I like Jinmao. I think it is one of the better hetero ships in anime atm, and I love the slow burn. Maomao is my favorite character of all time and I quiet like Jinshi as well. Having said that, the way so many other Jinmao shippers react to scenes is really bothering me.

First of all, we gotta accept something: Maomao is not in love with Jinshi at the present time. She probably doesn't even have feelings for him. It is slow burn for a reason and you can tell it will take her a long time, if it happens, before she develops feelings for him. At the moment, he is a person she appreciates and a friend she cares about. Acting like any time she ignores his advances that she is just being a tsundere, or an idiot, or lying to herself, is so unfair to her. She isn't in denial, at this point in time, she does not have feelings for him.

This is why, whenever Jinshi makes advances that are too forward, I don't understand why the fandom insists on romanticizing it. Best example of this being the famous frog scene. We see Jinshi acting childish and even entitled, following by a (genuinely hilarious) accident. Maomao isn't an idiot, she simply doesnt wanna get involved in the matters of nobility as she knows if it goes south, her head will be the expendable one. Jinshi, not understanding Maomao's PoV, takes it personal and forces himself onto her.

Guys, regardless of how softly he put her down, this was attempted SA. He was both physically forcing her, and also by the power of their class differences metaphorically forcing her, to kiss him. There is no other way to look at it. People even get mad at Maomao for stopping it, calling the dog and I genuinely lose my mind seeing it. She wasnt blushing or thinking of anything like that at any momoent in that scene like many of you claim. You literally hear her thoughts, the panic, and you see her trying to kick him off. The fact that kicking nobility would cost her her head stops her. She literally thanks the dog for saving her.

Now I dont hate Jinshi. Not at all. He is nobility and doesnt understand Maomao's situation in the heat of the moment. Most likely, he physically let maomao space to escape, or stop him, thinking her not stopping him was consent. Not understanding that, because of their difference in status, Maomao couldnt stop him. Probably mostly unknowingly, he was forcing her. He does apologize later too so I don't understand why the fandom acts like this was a romantic scene at all. We had moments between these two that are tender and romantic, even in this very episode later on. This wasn't it. Romanticizing it, and even getting mad at Maomao for simply not wanting to be involved is honestly sickening.

I think most of this comes from people wanting to believe that Maomao is in love with Jinshi. But we are in her head people. We hear her thoughts all the time. She isnt in denial. She calls him beautiful in a matter of factly way, she hasnt felt any such attraction for him so far. So please, let slow burn be slow burn and dont romanticize a scene of our beloved main character being almost sexually abused.

i saw the cat and corvid mc ones and i wanna see dog-like mc so bad, like one whos very loyal, loves cuddling with loved ones, if they had a tail and one of the gang came home itd be faster than a helicopter i think, if they see anyone with food theyd just come up to them with their puppy dog eyes, they just lounge around in random spots nearby the characters or even lays their head/body on them. sometimes theyll be playing with something and be possessive over it and a "Whats that in your mouth" situation comes in and they run away taking random stuff they found lying around the HoL, maybe theyre also rly playful and love playfighting and stuff like tug of war

for kate... i dont think anyone but toby and MAYBE clocky/nina would know what happened to her. she doesnt want to talk about it at all, and toby would only find out by connecting the dots of random stuff shes said.

i think toby is pretty open about what happened to him. he'd be very quick to make jokes or casually be like "yea i got the shit bullied out of me". so people are familiar, HOWEVER i dont think a lot of them really understand how bad it was for him bc hes so casual with it. i think tim and brian probably caught toby losing him mind, having nightmares, screaming and he'd be like "you dont get it you dont fucking know the shit that happened to me" etc etc. with clocky or kate or EJ, he'd be SLIGHTLY more vulnerable. tell them about lyra and connie, but he's just uncomfortable with that stuff

nina spills everything she doesnt really care. she likes to talk and share and spill her guts, so everyone is pretty familiar with all her ex boyfriends, workaholic parents, getting bullied, whatever. shes a bit more hesitant to bring up certain things that SHE'S done (cheating, cyberstalking, self harm, etc) but she'll happily share times she was a victim to others

EJ would share about his family very freely, and i think if someone asked, he'd tell them about jenny. so i guess it just depends on who cares to ask ? toby, clocky, maybe tim/brian would. jeff and ben might ask like "hey why are you ugly now" and he would not tell them . cuz he needs whoever he tells to ask genuinely and treat it seriously

jane tells people pretty openly, because she was a victim of jeffs stalking. she tries to make her story more...inspirational? because after all her pain and loss, she still went to law school and all of that. or if someone tries to diminish her pain, she'd be like 'watch your mouth.' i think she'd tell nina and liu. for nina, it'd be like "you dont even care do you? you still love that man after everything? how can you look me in the eye, knowing all he's done, and tell me you idolize him?" and for liu it would be more about like. closure maybe? part of her resents liu even though it was NOT his fault whatsoever and he's also a victim, but shes mature enough to try and navigate the trauma WITH him despire her pain

for liu its kinda similar, but nothing is inspirational. he would tell people because for him, its how he connects to people. connecting on trauma, even if its not the healthiest way. . . if someone asks, he tells them. its kinda sad the way he talks about jeff though. AITA for letting out our* indoor cat?

i (24 they/them) live with my mother (51 she/her) and my sister (29 she/her), altho both of us have moved out and lived on our own, but moved back into our childhood home due to economic/health stuff, mostly caused by the pandemic

during the time living on her own, my sister has gotten a dog and two cats. while we all love them and take care of them, i would be lying if my mother and i didn't expect her to, and be annoyed when she isn't, be their primary caretaker

both my sister and myself are against outdoor cats. i dont think its safe for the cat or the local ecosystem, and she agrees. one cat however does not care for our opinons, and tries to escape by any means, having learned to open doors, both with normal handles, and the garden ones, and we had to start locking everything up even when people are at home. due to his tenacity, he is always wearing a collar now, has been microchipped, and is up to date on all outdoor cat vaccinations just in case he does slip away

before you say we should take him on walks — we tried but he starts thrashing so violently in his harness he breaks out of it and runs off. trying to tire him out at home hasn't really been working, cuz he just doesn't want to play with us in the limited space — he likes getting chased

the issue is. i have migraines that have gotten much worse over the past year. i finally started medication about two weeks ago, but apparently it will only start showing any results after 2-3 months

one of the ways the cat tries to get us to let him out is by screaming bloody murder. i think you can guess where this is going

i asked my sister to take him to her room, and she has, but 1) we share a wall so it was still painful, and 2) she works from home, and after about 20 minutes she threw him out and said that sorry, but she just cant have him there. her door locks. mine doesnt. so even if i close the door he will open them and stand by my bed meowing as loud as he can

After Shikaku confesses her love for Yucel, He rushes to the hospital to offer her his blood, Making her into an immortal vampire just like him. Yucel has also fallen for Shikaku, its basically his confession of love, He wants to live with her Forever.

This one is Pretty straight forward, Agni with his regenerative powers feeds his village by continuously chopping of his Arm so they dont all starve to death. But more importantly he does this to prevent his sister from doing it aswell. He doesnt want her to suffer that pain so he takes sole responsibility for providing himself to the village.

Agni also later feeds his followers with the help of Togata Chopping of the part of his face that isnt on Fire. I think this has more todo with making sure Togata gets fed rather than his followers, To Agni Togata means alot.

When Power is about to Die, Power not only offers her own blood For Denji to Drink so he can get back to health, But Pochita also offers a small part of himself so she can come back as a Powerful Devil.

And ofcourse the big one is Denji Eating Makima. He obviously has to and all for the sake of erasing her. But he explicitly says it wasnt an Attack, It was an act of Love.

Its such a fascinating thing that the idea of consuming someone can be concidered something you do to a cherished one, as an affectionate thing. I guess as Denji mentions that you basically become one with eachother in a way if you consume them.

But this is such a Weird thing Right? Where does this idea even originate from? Well ofcourse we can only Speculate but I really think he took on inspiration from his own life here, Because he has actually done this to someone he loved. Yes, Seriously.

In the Authors notes for "Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22-26" Fujimoto shares a story from when he was 24:

"Even though we were poor, we had a pet Japanese rice fish. I found it dead one summer. I went to toss its body into the trash like in Parasyte, but my girlfriend said she wanted me to bury it, So off I went to the park, alone. I tried to bury it under this big tree, but the ground was too hard, my hands got all dirty and I had no hole to show for my effort. Out of Options, I figured I would pretend I had buried the fish and left it lying there on top of the ground. As I watched it for a little while, ants found the body and began to carry it away. Im not sure what came over me, but in that moment, love for that pet fish welled within me for the first time. I brushed the ants away, and then Ate it."

It has that "Wait what the hell am I reading" Charm to the story like alot of his works, But theres something so weirdly beautiful about this story, Somehow stricken with grief and love for this fish, He ate it. As Denji says, its not an attack, his fish is part of him now and its an act of love. So strange, yet so Beautiful.

First of all i personally hate both "L0tor is evil rapist imperialist who did not have a single redeemable quality" and "L0tor is uwu poor baby who did nothing wrong", because yeah he had good intentions and he seemed to genuinely love Alura and care for Alteans but also he very much did do a lot of things Wrong. I am pretty sure a lot of his actions fall into category of Very Wrong

Lot0r to me is an absolute control freak, he has to be 10 steps ahead of everyone, he needs to be control of the situation no matter what. Whether it be through a silver tongue or by his blade (see N@rti's death, him vs White Lion). This is as much as a ruthless strategy as it is a trauma response. Being raised under Z@rkon, a father who only saw him as inferior half-bred, he had to learn survivor tactics. He will do anything to survive whether it be beg, lie, manipulate, and kill. He is a survivor of some genuinely godawful abuse he suffered for 10,000 years, combined with racism he suffered for being half altean

However this need to be in control extends to his allies and people he cares about. I am sure Lotor may have loved Alura, it doesnt change the fact that he very much abused her trust. Their entire relationship was based on a lie. He knew Alteans were still alive and not only did he not tell Alura about it he leaned into the "last survivors of Altea" for their relationship, which is why it was doomed since the beginning. And if it had not been this, then it would have been something else. Cause lying and manipulation are very much core of his character, that is how we are introduced to him

Like i see people going "Oh Lot0r could have been good if he had therapy and a hug", and i am not really not sure about it, cause like would he? Would he choose to be vulnerable and actually let his feelings out and be truthful in a an unbiased reliable way that will neither serve him in any way nor make him look better nor is a part of some machivilian scheme he cooked up because he doesnt trust the therapist he is paying? No

And thing is he does desire connection. He looks for connection in people who are similar to him. Half galran, altean survivors, Alura these are the people who he chose to get close to. He looks for similarities, people he can relate to, people who he sees as like him, people who he thinks can give him a sense of belonging. He is deeply lonely. However his desperation for control, absolute mistrust in anyone and everyone, and his inability to be actually honest dooms any relationship he'll ever have

Also this is probably just me, but for someone who is this morally complex character he has tendency to see things in black and white? Like it is His dad and empire= bad, alteans=good. He idolizes Altea to the point of seeing it as an Utopia, and this ideal was more important to him than any Alteans who are alive and with him. I also cant remember him ever caring about someone outside of the Dichotomy. Like at most i remember is after he became the emperor Lance pointing out how other planets need to be freed and he just brushed it off

Overall he gives me the "smart people dont always make good decisions, but they are good at justifying their bad ones" vibes. We dont know exactly why he decided to use alteans as batteries but i am choosing to go with my interpretation- "Lottor saw something fucked up in that future showing space whale thingy, decided the only way to solve was altean batteries except in true self fulfilling prophecy greek tragedy way it only made things worse and started a series of event that will cause the thing he saw causing real trouble a few years after his death.

Another thing! I think it should have been him being the focus of Evil Altean episode instead of A//ura. I hate that episode and everything it stands for but like if there Had to be an evil alteans episode then it should be around someone who is you know? Obsessed with Altean culture? Is big on control and manipulation? Is more geared towards big picture and "greater good" over individual? Is worried about turning into just like his galran father and so desperately wants to connect to his idealized version of his altean mother? Yeah

What are your thoughts on the metaphorical utilization of masks used by different characters throughout water 7?

so ive never actually thought about this before outside of the acknowledgement that it's a factor. the most obvious being robin wearing a mask in almost all her more ghosty scenes in water 7, and then taking it off and the entire thing escalates further though with more honesty.

the three main characters of water 7 (robin, usopp, and franky) all wear notable masks. robin when she's going to murder the mayor, franky when we have a perception of him when he's putting up a front, and usopp when he becomes sniperking.

i think the most interesting use of the masks is the less obvious immediately one, when franky and usopp are wearing masks. franky is wearing a mask of weird toxic hyper masculinity the kind that you'd see from a gangster in a movie. we learn later that this is a front he puts up to protect the franky familys reputation, (which is a parallel to robin putting on a mask to save the strawhats) but the way he changes his personality to create a more confident version of himself that shows no weakness parallels usopps use of the same mask with sniperking. you could also argue that usopp is at least under the perception that hes saving the strawhats from having to care about him when putting on the sniper king mask, (i actually think he directly states this? its been a year since i saw the beginning of enies lobby and itll be a 4-5 month journey before i get to it on my rewatch please pray for me) and that robin is becoming more confident when she puts on the mask as well. (although as ive said before robin is a wonderful intuitive competent woman whos never actually used any of her skills for anything good. /loving). i think with robin and usopp theres more of an inherent lie in their confidence when they put on the mask because robin, while she presents herself as confident is very much not. (although i think shes a lot like luffy in this aspect where i think she is genuinely confident but is insecure about things that are very deeply meaningful to her and that drives them more than you would think because they seem confident everywhere else) and usopp is usopp. franky is confident but where his confidence lies is way different. its less that hes lying about being confident but more lying about the type of confidence he has. franky is the type of guy whos confident in bawling and hugging you so tightly you feel like youre going to explode. he doesnt have confidence like gang bege. franky wouldnt tell you to kill a guy

I really fucking love sniper king. i think in general sniper king is the best use of usopps character, because it highlights that lying is a good thing when it comes to him and his personality. sniper king allowed usopp to be there for his friends when he had to lie to himself to keep holding onto their relationship. lying in a lot if senses symbolizes usopps inherent want to hope for better things for himself that he thinks won't happen and i relate to that. a fucking lot. when usopp lies i think it speaks to an inherent hope and openmindedness for whatever hes lying about to be true. all of this is what usopps use of the sniper king mask represents, along with his want to be a hero type guy. (oh to be an antihero in an anime that wants actively to be the type of guy the protagonist is)

there is a gender aspect to it. like i think the reason usopp and franky wear the same mask is because of both of their relationships towards their masculinity and to further the idea that franky is everything usopp wishes he was in a lot of ways. i was like "why do people read usopp as transgender" a bit ago but then i realized it was a stupid question because. like usopp as a character is inherently tied to masculinity in a very trans way. i read fanfiction about this recently so I think I'm a scholar on it but zoro is very transguy in the sense he is masculine inherently but still feels a disconnect between him and masculinity despite that. very post transition transguy. whereas you look at usopp and you see like a pre transition transguy who feels like he has to inherently grow into masculinity and a lot of that is tied to for him a better stage in his mental health. (and im glad he eventually gets that post ts).

anyways back to the masks on the other hand i think theyre a lot like the lines in scott pilgrim. like the weirdo lines ramona gets when she's insecure about her relationship with scott due to past experiences. yes the 3 people who put them on really do change their behavior when they put them on but it's because of the same thing (past experiences influencing them to the point where they arent changing their behaviour in the present)

ALL of them being influenced by trauma

and usopp is the only one who can spin this as a positive utilization of the mask as opposed to franky and robin because of what we talked about previously (usopps lies are his hopes)

and i think usopp gets his "in his own head so much because of past experiences hes refusing to see the truth in the present" pre getting his sniperking mask. but because of how usopp works as a character, he wasnt in a mask there because to him because of his neuroses he sees that as the truth of who he is. i also think the "in his own head so much because of past experiences hes refusing to see the truth in the present" still applies to him as sniper king but ends up meaning something differently. because as sniper king he is not acknowledging the reality of his need to take accountability for the shit he started but instead reverting back to lies hes previously told for the sake of reverting temporarily to normalcy with his friends. (which is a positive in the sense nico robin is going to die but negative in terms of interpersonal accountability)

this is all to say its really good that you cant see usopp/franky/robin when they put on the mask. they are emotionally unavailable to the people around them like they're not even considering other people as a factor which continues the idea of the masks as something that turns kind people alien and shuts them off from whats happening around them. thank you for watching my thoughts develop in real time, anon.

Btw sorry for not doing anything for yesterday's prompt - firstly, i have no clue who's my least favorite. i love them all. like genuinely i dont hate a single character in this franchise. i dont tend to hate fictional characters if im gonna be honest, maybe its cause i lack critical thinking skills so i fail to acknowledge bad writing and such? idk. but yeah. Hm! Ok! I haven't really thought about this subject before so I'm saying all of this unprepared

Well, let's start with what I like- they seem... realistic. genuine. authentic? like, idk, a real friend group. I know its such a weird thiing to point out. but although their personalities r obviously exaggarated cuz its a piece of fiction and theyre more notable / interesting that way, i swear theyre like picture perfect copies of my middle school bullies? though that doesnt make me dislike them i just find them silly. as some have said before they do have genuine chemistry as a friend group. Obviously not healthy since jakes been lying about who he is out of fear they (primarily drew) would tease him for it, and drews possesiveness issues, and ALSO HENRIAM nottelling drew about Zoey cheating on him when they knew (cuz sheblackmailed them), but it stillfeels realistic andits fun to see them on screen. theyre the type of friends who insult and tease each other all the time but its cuz they love each other. i LOVE that henry n liam literally just read each others minds all the time. i like how they bully the music club - there i said it. literally the show wouldnt exist otherwise. or it would but itd be painfully boring. i like how, despite them being more antagonitic forces, we still see how they interact and talk outside of how they hurt ppl. like theyre actual teenagers w their own interests and personalities and struggles not just bullies in a high school music (well.. they r but not JUST that? in my personal opinion). also, if were counting zoey, maria n lia? as the jomies (but DEFINITELY not as of S2), then yeah i love them too, though maria needs more screen time and character if rosy wants me to care abt her more (sorry maria i just. idk anything abt u besides the fact that u hang out w zoey)

Something I dislike - maybeeeeee the lack of individual friendships represented? like yeah we know about drake and henriam, but otherwise pairings like driam, jiam, jenry, drenry are kinda unexplored. Drew feels like jst a third wheel with henriam? which makes sense tbh, ik what its like lmao. and yeah there r hints of stuff individual relaptionships between them, like that jake and henry potentially watch anime together every saturday at henries (though thats up to debate). Though again i dont REALLY dislike this, it does feel realistic ig but ig it wouldve been cool to shed a bit more spotlight on individual relationships besides henriam n drake before Drew essentially dumped Jake(meaning he probably wont interact w henry or liam anynmore). also i want more of Henry n Liam, beyond them simply being comic relief (and there have been hints of it before, itjust needs to be put on front)

i watched f4, but admittedly without paying Too much attention because. ive read the entire boys over flowers manga, ive seen both the jdrama And the kdrama (formative 2000s kdrama experience that it was) so i mostly just skimmed through for first…. i do think there were plenty of changes i couldve paid more attention to though! anyway, this is an ask that says ‘go ahead and talk about f4’ :)

rowan ily. so i went into this show pretty much completely blind. like i knew it was a remake but i hadn't seen the jdrama or kdrama and i hadn't read the manga, and i hadn't even heard much about the plot before watching. all i knew was that first, tu, milk, and dew were in it and that was it and that's really all i needed skjdfhskjf

but this show like. fully grabbed me by the throat and shook me around like a rag doll. like i wasn't expecting to fall as hard for all of the characters as i did. especially thyme! like i was still team "this bitch needs to die" in like ep11 KFHDKJFH. they all just made me fall in love with them in their own way.

here's the thing though. as much as i loved it, the last like two and a half episodes really pissed me off for a number of reasons. like first of all it just felt like half of the plot happening in those eps was just to get it to sixteen eps. like seriously? thyme having memory loss in the last ep? and then his mom just SUDDENLY deciding to give it up cause of gorya's speech? bullshit honestly

the thing is though, i probably would have been fine with all of that were it not for the fact that in the second half of ep14 they completely fucking obliterated thyme's character development. like okay, i get that he was fully under the impression that gorya had been lying and was a gold digger, right? but it makes no fucking sense to me how he can just. change that quickly. how the fuck did he go from literally talking about wanting to put people first when he leads the company to leading it as ruthlessly as his mother within a DAY?? and it would have just been SO MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL if he had truly believed gorya was a gold digger but still taken the lessons he'd learned from being with her. it would have been amazing to see the time skip but instead of thyme following his mother's lead, he's still fighting her, still trying to get her to lead with kindness. and think of how that would have hit his mother!! her thinking that gorya was the only reason he was acting like that but instead he turns around and proves that he really did change. that he cares about people and doesnt want to treat them like pawns in a game anymore and her having to face that?? like it would have been so good!!!

but no thyme just fell back into old habits. and it just makes it seem like the only reason he was doing that in the first place was so he could be with gorya. like he didn't really care about being kind and treating others with respect. most disappointing thing fr.

that being said i did genuinely enjoy the show for the most part and these characters are all my new blorbos. also in terms of ships i'm team gorya and her four boyfriends <3333

I do agree that just like killing Jimmy or putting him a crypod wouldn't have been the best options, but it was the fact that it was able to GET to this point of desperation thats the problem. Curly had 20 different chances along the years where he couldve done something about Jimmy, but didn't. He wasnt forced into this situation--he brought it upon entirely himself. There werent any measures on the ship for locking somone up because thats what the physch evals were for. the ones that jimmy didnt take seriously but curly let him on the ship anyways because hes his good friend.

Its a common misconception that Curly only knew about Anya's assult right before the crash. Its blantantly wrong. He didnt know she was pregnant, but it is confirmed that she and Curly talked about this before they even got on the ship.

Curly knew about what Jimmy did before he even did the psych eval. thats the whole point that hes been covering up for him and acting like he can fix things without any company interference.

In this scene as well, Curly tells Anya that she could've told him and that he wouldve done ANYTHING to help her. BUT SHE KNOWS THAT A FUCKING LIE!! She knows thats a lie, and so she doesnt even take the time to reply to what he said. Shes not like 'ah thank you so much for being so nice and doing everything you can to make me feel safe.' She knows she isnt safe on this ship, with Jimmy or Curly.

On top of all of this, most peoples reactions to figuring out their best friend raped and IMPREGNATED their other friend, wouldnt be "hm... well we can talk this out like reasonable gents."

But alas, this is Curly's reaction. He goes to Jimmy to talk things out. He isnt lying or decieving Jimmy, he's genuinely trying to make amends. He trying to get Anya and Jimmy on good terms so they dont have to tell anyone about this and no one has to get in trouble. Curly never fucking planned on letting the company know about this, if anyones telling anyone its going to be Anya telling the company and reporting them. Curly's playing every single side of the court and its doing nothing but HURTING EVERYONE involved.

I urge anyone who thinks differently to rewatch this scene because its actually insane. He's trying to string Anya and Jimmy together so no one has to get reported, and Jimmy TELLS him like 'no man. This times its over like im gonna get in big time fucking trouble. Or... I could just kill all of us.'

And Curly just. Doesnt say anything to that! Him and Jimmy share a moment of silence, Jimmy pats Curly on the shoulder, and says "Ill take care of it." And Curly WATCHES HIM WALK AWAY. TO CRASH THE SHIP. Because he would rather do literally anything but directly hurt a friend. Which isnt noble, its cowardly.

It isnt until the last fucking second that Curly grows some sense and tries to stop the ship. Which ends with him horribly disfigured.

Like oh my god, OH MY GOD!! Curly just is an awful person. He couldve done sooooo much more way before things got to the point they did, and even AFTER, he didnt do all he could. He didnt even put up a fight to stop Jimmy at all. And he didn't really seem to think of him all that differently even after Anya's assult.

Like... the lengths people will go to to defend Curly and say what he did was reasonable is insane to me. He didn't do nearly all he could've and THAT was a huge point of the game.

im gonna be honest. I think the idea that curly should have put jimmy in a cryo pod immediately after finding out is CRAZY. like yeah sure. I mean they're already short one pod in case of emergency but yeah throw jimmy in there. that'll be totally fine if smth happens to curly and there's no one to run the ship.

like idk was there not only like,,, a day between anya telling curly and jimmy crashing the ship? how was curly supposed to know the situation was so fucked that he needed to act immediately? and what was he supposed to do to deal with it. it goes beyond his desire to people please, he has been forced into a situation where there are no appropriate actions he can take due to corporate greed. they did not provide any options for a crew mate who needs to be detained. they didnt provide enough crew mates to replace a co-pilot if needed.

shit was never just as simple as put jimmy in the cryo pod. thats like. an incredibly important point the game is making.

ig ill start with mark??? first of all nonbinary as hell and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying to you. second xe's a very interesting character to talk about because basically everything i can say about xem spirals into other characters but ill try to keep this focused on xem as much as possible. anyways GOD i miss act 1 when we were constantly learning new information about xyr life and xyr suicide. i honestly really wish the first act had gone even farther with establishing xem because i feel like all we really know about xem is the encounter and xyr paranoia. especially since alex didn't intend to go much farther with xem after the first act it would have been nice to get more detail with xem back then.

LUCKILY I AM THE RULER OF MAKING UP RANDOM BULLSHIT ABOUT CHARACTERS ! SO I DONT CARE

i genuinely think mark had so much love to give to so many people but it just got stifled again and again and its extremely heartbreaking . i think mark wanted to be better and make a difference in the world but ultimately was never allowed to. xe was excited to have a baby sister, as evidenced by alt!cesar using her against xem in vol 1 restored. xe was glad to FINALLY leave school (i believe xe was a senior when xe died. which is awful but yk) after giving everything xe had left in xem to just barely pass. xe loves a lot of things about life like the autumn leaves and drumming and . xyr one friend that xe does doesnt even like xem. but its okay xe's sure xe's just misjudging him!!!! (xe's too afraid to confirm or deny this.)

but i think all that love gets stifled by xyr environment. xe's miserable, feeling restrained by the stories xe's had drilled into xyr head from birth; even though xe still believes them, xe's been coming dangerously close to seeing the holes poked into xyr little worldview. xe fights every day to hold onto those little things that make them happy, because some days it feels like thats all xe has. and okay i was memeing earlier when i said people who tell you mark isnt nonbinary are lying but unironically i think mark takes solance in xyr identity because its the one thing no one can take away from xem to matter how hard they try. xe's continuously told that xe has to succeed and be fine for the sake of everyone else around xem and it exhausts xem because xe is traumatized. its so awful and xe's so tired of it all. thank god this this the last year of high school, because maybe now xe can finally hope to be free.

HOWEVER!!!!! six really stands out from all the other alternate characters because . a. the implication that he ISNT an alternate makes me crazy insane and i really hope that gets elaborated on in vol 5 and b!!!! he's responsible for so much in the plot and a lot of the conflicts that i really love in the human characters. he's responsible for mark's paranoia, adam being. like that. lynn dying which brings thatcher and ruth over to the murray house and resulting in ruths death. SO GODDAMN MUCH. he influences nearly EVERY major aspect of the plot but in a much more direct way than gabriel does, and that makes him much more interesting to me. i really like how so much of it can be traced back to him and he DOES SOMETHING WITH THIS. he comes in to talk to adam and is like hey girl. im gonna drop the most devastating information of your entire life without any kind of warning whatsoever. oh yeah and you also only met me like two days ago in a basement after you lost the only person that ever cared about you. get fucked ! and thats so funny to me . i love him hes a piece of shit

as the only respectable jason fan i know of i have to ask: im genuinely curious this isnt haterism but he have any love interests who dont themselves have better love interests? because sure i can see jaykyle but then theres a nuclear bomb named connorkyle. same with jayrose and any number of other better rose ships involving women. and if anyone ever says the word jayroy around me it activates my sleeper agent programming and i blow them up with my bomb

he doesnt 👍 jason is a disease on everyone he interacts with 👍 which i think is partially because all bat characters are a disease on everyone they interact with bc people dont know how to behave when bats interact with non bats. but i think jason is worse than the others partially because he really only started positively interacting with non bats after the new52 so because of that hes associated with a lot of the worst mischaracterization </3 also because he was written by scott lobdell for way too long. but i do think jason should be quarantined from interacting with anyone else

honestly i think part of the appeal of him being acearo is that all his relationships are so terrible. like his only canon love interests have been (sort of) donna, artemis, and rose (and a few lobdell ocs that no one cares about). and jason/donna is so terrible that no one talks about it, and idk much about artemis outside of rhato but ive heard that jason/artemis relies on her being very out of character which is not surprising for lobdell. jason/rose is fine as it is but in terms of canon love interests eddie/rose is much better developed (and even hosun/rose is more interesting imo). and like you said even in terms of non canon relationships they usually fall apart when you pay attention to the other character. jason/roy is so terrible for roy and its painfully obvious that most people who like it have never read a roy comic pre52. and jason/kyle is my fav jason ship by far since. its the only one i actually like. but connorkyle is just so much better. to me there are completely different appeals with jaykyle vs connorkyle since jason and kyle cant stand each other and thats part of the reason it fucks, while connor and kyle are just best friends that get along really well so its a completely different type of relationship. but just surface level jaykyle will never have anything on connorkyle

and even just for jason, whenever hes in a relationship in canon it just feels wrong. that is not a man who has any interest in romance or sex i dont know why we're pretending he would do any of this. first of all hes bitchless second of all hes so acearo in my mind that it feels like hes lying every time he flirts with someone. that is a whole different person i know jason todd would never do that.
