I think we should start a positive trend in the fandom

because (I’m guilty of this two) the positive side is quite compared to the bad side. I know moving forward I’m going to put disclaimers on all character rants or theory’s or ep reviews talking about how I love the writing I’m just taking about the characters and my opinions. I noticed that in my posts unless give consistently read my previous posts I come off a dick and I sound like I’m insulting the writing even if I’m not meaning two and that’s on me.

Let’s take my opinion on Earth’s character

I think Earth used to put her own need to feel like she’s helpful so she can be a good person onto other to the point where it was manipulative. I don’t know she did it on purpose but I do think she didn’t do enough to change.

But this is where I’m in the wrong. Because Earth changed and I saw and appreciated that but in my posts there are FAR more that express my negative views on Earth compared to the positive ones.

And that’s because I didn’t think I had much to say about it when I know I could have. It’s because wording positive things is harder then negative for me so when I would try I would get bored and give up mid way never posting my thoughts on them.

(For the people who will take this out of context:

No I’m not judging Earth because she’s a woman I’m critiquing my old opinion of Earth that was made based on her actions towards others.)

I’m aware that the main problem that is effecting the shows is not people like me however we don’t do enough to help.

i'm gonna be honest, fandoms don't bring me any joy lately. people complain that fans don't stay in the fandoms nowadays and i know it's mostly because of the way content is produced... but i honestly feel like, as much as i wanna stay in the fandoms, the longer i stay the more frustrated i become, because the discourse is just. unbearable honestly.

especially when you don't have a lot of free time, you get in the tags and just get bombarded with negativity and shitty takes and it's like. idk i wanna have a good time. i love stories, i love suspension of disbelief, i love fictional morality, because it's funny and impossible to apply to real life, i really like when you can look at every character's pov and understand their motivations and then try to figure out how to make all of them friends or something.

but it gets impossible in the big fandoms. i've learned my lesson, i know that i should just avoid fandoms at this point. i wish it wasn't my main source of entertainment, so i could do something else instead. maybe i should just focus on developing my own stories from now on.

idk like on some level. sure. mutual hate on a thing can be fun. there's plenty of stuff I poke fun at with my friends - but that's to ourselves, typically in private conversations where fans of such things won't see em, and I've gone out of my way in the near decade (maybe over at this point? eugh) of my fandom of this show to kinda be aware of any of my more negative posts, not tagging them or at least not spamming them

yet with ml there seems to be this constant effort from some to go out of their way to remind you "Erm, but the show is bad??" and it's like. ok. that's how ya feel, whatever, totally fine to think that way, but then they keep going, they go to every post they see - fanart, fic, casual shitposts, anywhere ppl are having fun, anything that doesn't also say the show is bad, and remind you that they think it's bad. they run 6 salt blogs dedicated to characters they've hated for near half a decade from a show they've maybe hated for even longer and sometimes haven't even seen the last few seasons of, all to continue to spout this constant stream of "Show....bad" negativity with no further goal than to, seemingly, try and ruin it for someone else, and to me that sorta thing is just like. what are we doing here man. what the fuck are you

be critical of the show, that's totally fine! I don't love every aspect of it, I'm sure even the biggest bugheads would have something to point out as a flaw or issue they have with it. but this seemingly endless wave of ppl going on and on about how bad they think the show is, how they carry that as if it's objective fact, how they believe everyone in the cast except Marinette or Adrien (or even sometimes like, I dunno, Lila) should be thrown in a meat grinder and make sure that you know they believe such a thing, repeating it so many times as if they want you to believe it, too, and it's just like. why? what's so wrong about others enjoying a silly lil cartoon show?

and ultimately to me it's just like. fuckin' buzz off lmao. I don't give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks of the show - my taste in media and my feelings toward the media I consume are the objectively correct ones, after all!

you can't make a single fucking post about miraculous ladybug on this site without someone thinking their opinions about how ML Is A Bad Show are wanted or appropriate

Childhood friends reunited but then Alex is SO different from how he was as a kid. In a bad way. He's trying very hard to be someone he's not, and it takes a connection from his past and a lot of sweet persistence to knock some sense into him. Alex deals with comphet and accepting himself when he starts falling for another guy.

penny/maru

Maru takes an interest in Penny and very persistently tries to befriend her. Penny realizes she's absolutely head over heels for her... They're both very smart women but with very different circumstances, so Penny never even considered how much they might have in common until now.

haley/leah

Leah sees Haley taking photos in the forest and offers to share her lunch with her, asks to look over her photos. They connect right away about art and photography, Leah modeling for Haley's photos and Haley modeling for Leah's sketches. Haley becomes a lot more down to earth when she realizes how nice the simple life can be when it's spent with Leah. I want to think Haley also struggled with comphet, and feels so much more liberated now being with Leah.

sam/sebastian/abigail

The three were always inseparable and as they got into their teenage years, friendship turned into more. I hc Abigail as being transfem so I'd like to think she was terrified of losing the two of them in coming out, but they both supported her and she was pleasantly surprised to find them being even more doting on her after the change. I'd like to think Abigail is kind of bratty, Sebastian is a little stern but sweet, and Sam is very flexible with the both of them.

harvey/shane

Hear me out on this one, after Shane's wake up call moment where he's left hospitalized, he and Harvey have a serious heart to heart. That leads to an unexpected friendship, which Harvey is very pleased to have as he otherwise keeps to himself mostly. Shane can be really sweet when he wants to be, and the way he's so gentle with children and animals stirs something in Harvey he never knew he wanted.

emily/sandy

Self explanatory I think, but. Fashionable, kinda weird girlfriends. They love drinking together and traveling and trying new foods, and they share clothes with each other whenever they can. I think it started out as an experimentation between friends and then they realized their friendship was already so much more than they thought it was. Long distance relationship though, given Sandy living in calico desert.

caroline/jodi

They both are so unhappy with their lives but find so much comfort in each other. Caroline seems to enjoy good cooking but doesn't enjoy cooking it, whereas Jodi is always making new recipes... I'd like to think she makes every excuse to bring something delicious to Jodi. I want them to run away together one day and leave everything and everyone behind, just have each other and that's all they need. 🥺

Idk about the season two stuff, but I have thoughts about season three:

I HATE hate hate hate when people say Cat King should be used as a way for Edwin to become comfortable enough with himself to date Charles. It almost makes Payneland a notp for me. If it's that situation, that's just crap writing. No one should be used like that, even in a story. I hate it.

Aside from that, Charles already basically said no to Edwin. In my mind, that means it should be final. I don't care if he suddenly realizes he loves Edwin in a romantic way- that's just a sucky thing to do to someone. Let Edwin realize his first real crush doesn't have to be who he ends up with- that's NORMAL. That's HEALTHY.

I don't really have a problem with Charles and Edwin as a concept- I originally said I'd be okay with either outcome- but sticking Edwin with his first crush forever (literally) would damage his character. Him and Charles started as essentially mentor/mentee, then they became friends/mates, then brothers. They shouldn't become a romance after one of them already indicated rejection to the other.

Edwin should be allowed to move on and place his romantic love elsewhere. Even if Charles suddenly realizes he was wrong, that's not fair to Edwin. Even if Edwin doesn't end up with CK, he shouldn't end up with Charles. It's fun to ruminate on what that could be, the fanfics are amazing and definitely worth reading, but it shouldn't become canon.

Saying "there's no one more important to Edwin" is locking him in a box. Sure, Charles will always be his first love and his most important, but that doesn't mean he can't date someone else.

As an example from another fandom, this situation reminds me of Steve and Robin from Stranger Things. While they're portrayed (in fandom especially, for this example I'm focusing on that) as being each other's Person and most important, they're never going to date. Even though Steve confessed, Robin wasn't interested. She's a lesbian. With Dead Boy Detectives, it's flipped. Even though Edwin confessed, Charles wasn't interested. He's straight, as far as we/he knows and he hasn't indicated any feelings for Edwin that couldn't be just brotherly. Like Stobin, they're each other's Most Important, but it isn't romantic.

Sorry to go off, but this is just so frustrating to me. I hope this all made sense.

Also, as a general to everyone who's gotten this far, please stop posting how much you don't think Catwin (or any other ship) is going to happen under those ship tags- you can put it under any other ship tag for the fandom or even the characters, but if you're tagging a post about how a ship is impossible as that ship, that tag is filled with just that and it's very frustrating.

(I'm tagging this Payneland because I'm sleep deprived (it's WAY too late (early?) for this) and petty, do as I say not as I do lol)

season 1 ended with both Crystal and Edwin being interested in Charles.

for me season 2 would have ended with him "losing" both. Charles choosing to let Crystal go and live her human life, and Edwin having his "adult experiences" with the cat king.

of course in a hypotetical season 3 we could have got payneland togheter. Because as much as i love catwin, i really feel no other person can be more important to Edwin that Charles. Its just how it is...

There’s something fundamentally kind of. sick? In the atmosphere of Buffy, but the characters manage to exist as goods in it despite it all, and maybe that’s what feels sick about it (sick as in ill, or not whole). It seems like all the bigger things are evil and all the original and fundamental things are bad and the only thing standing against them is a few people who shouldn’t have to. And are too small to. It’s about the crushing weight of responsibility without the relief of it being just a part of something bigger.

If macden were to actually happen I'd want it to happen in a way that it's not actually happening. Like, the joke was that Mac was gay and didn't know it. That Mac and Dennis were/are in a committed open relationship without knowing it. That Dennis is very obviously ignoring some blaring signs, but doesnt know it. That's been the joke with their identites and relationship through the whole show.

Mac is gay, someone points it out, he gets weird about it, then represses the shit outta it and pretends like thats not what it is. They're in a relationship, someone points it out, they get weird for a bit, but they repress repress repress so they can still do what they're doing without having to actually deal with it. That's the joke right?

So if macden were to go cannon it'd have to be "subtle", like, to them. It would be very very obvious to literally everyone else. Thats the joke. A scheme - that was purely their own ideas, no one pushed them into it - got them sleeping in the same bed. Out of his own want, Dennis vibrated Macs ass with remote anal beads. For months. If it happens, a scheme is gonna get them to kiss and a scheme is gonna get them to fuck. And it looks like it'll be their own damn fault too.
