what's your comfort meal?

I'm eating mine now. Mine is "breakfast for dinner".

Like a full american style breakfast: eggs scrambled light (with Cholula on top cuz i'm a texas bama), bacon (I do turkey bacon mostly), toast with jelly (ezekiel bread with mixed berry preserves), and some kind of fruit (a whole orange, or a bowl of strawberries or grapes).

I made one of my top 3 comfort meals, leek and potato soup, for the first time. I was so scared throughout the whole process of cooking it because I’ve never made soup and cleaning and cutting leaks is my own personal Hell, but it was SO WORTH IT!!

In my area of the US it's a common thing for a comfort meal especially for children is grilled cheese/cheese toastys and tomatoe soup. Is it similar where you live or is there not really a country wide (I think) idea of a comfort food for kids? If there is do you like to eat it?

I actually like grilled cheese and tomatoe soup, I like dipping my sandwich in the soup like it's an edible spoon.

Not sure if it's exactly comfort food because it takes a bit more time to make, but I would say that a very beloved food for children in my country is fried cheese with French fries. It's served either with ketchup or mayonnaise. Not the healthiest of meal, for sure, but then again, comfort meals rarely are and I can vouch that it's amazing and one of my comfort meals as well.

I once had grilled cheese when I was in America and I enjoyed it a lot. Not sure if I would combine it with a soup since in my culture only some soups are combined with bread and tomato soup is definitely not one of them, but I'm happy you enjoy it!

howdy! today ima teach you how to make one of my comfort foods

so, you gotta trust me here, cause it kinda looks like wet dog food,, but it's DELICIOURS. i grew up making this shit for myself when my parents didn't care enough to cook dinner and just said 'eat whatever u want' (creds to my stepdad for showing me this)

ingredients: vienna sausages, saltine crackers (or any sort of crackers. tortilla chips prolly would work too), hot sauce (opt), desired seasoning (opt), a small bowl, and a fork

step 1. get your vienna sausages and open up the can. i pour out the broth or whatever's in the can and run it under water a few times to get all of it out. then plop em in your bowl.

step 2. mash em up with your fork. should look kinda like mashed wet dog food (trust the process 🙏)

step 3. get yer hot sauce and all yer seasoning and put it in the mashed up vienna sausages to your preferences (i like to use texas pete's original hot sauce and tajin and just whatever else i find in the spice cabinet that i think would taste nice at the time)

step 4. scoop some of that onto your cracker/chip, whatever, and eat

That’s a loaded question, I think there’s two answers for me. One is a nostalgic childhood comfort which is simple chips and gravy. My mum used to take me to this small cafe in my town (run by the women who is currently my assistant funnily enough) we went every Tuesday and got chips and gravy and a lime thick shake. It’s a treasure memory. The other is almost certainly sushi. Sadly there’s not a lot on offer sushi wise in my town. But whenever I get the chance I get a salmon and avocado hand roll. Gotta get ginger for the kick and wasabi.

Did much better with tracking yesterday.

I got super stressed out this morning. Like, so stressed I was nearly in tears and the cat following me around & meowing nearly drove me bat shit crazy.

So... this is an anxiety attack comfort meal. Creamy but lower calories. Everything tracked.

May today get better and better.

Girl breakfast is 5 AM canned chili with rice and Coca-Cola. Major comfort meal tbh. Like in all seriousness, this along with canned soups, instant noodles, and sandwiches are one of my go-to burnout/depression meals because it's just so low effort. Canned chili in a bowl and some rice you cooked by putting in a pot and leaving alone for half an hour. W ass meal.
