It also becomes more complex if cheese is a multi-allele and/or polygenic trait. In your hypothetical, things are simple because you only have one gene with two alleles — “cheese” or “no cheese”. In the real world you can have different kinds of cheese on a cheeseburger — instead of “cheese” or “no cheese” you would have a spectrum of “no cheese” -> “some cheese” -> “cheese” as well as various cheese types (ex. mozzarella, pepper jack). This indicates more than simply two alleles, or perhaps cheese is a trait affected by multiple genes, like human pigmentation.

This becomes still more complex if you ignore the original scenario and look at the burger population as a whole. Assume the burgers are not in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium — that is to say, the burgers are evolving. One type of burger could completely die off due to genetic drift (the random loss of genes). New burger types would come up due to mutation. Which burgers are more frequently eaten? Perhaps natural selection is at play. What about selective mating — what if cheeseburgers only mate with cheeseburgers, and hamburgers only mate with hamburgers? This becomes even more complex if we bring the idea of polygenic traits back in.
