Things to Do with Plushies that aren’t Traditional Pretend Play

If you regress/dream to an older age range, you might not play pretend as often, if at all. That said, there’s no reason why you still can’t enjoy your plushies’ company.

Cuddle them as you go to sleep. This one is pretty obvious, but I think it deserves a place on this list.

Make them little Kandi collars with their name in letter beads. You can make a matching bracelet or necklace for yourself too!

On that note, sew clothes for them and dress them up. This one might require some supervision because of the pins and needles, but it’s usually worth it.

Set them up so that they look like they’re doing the same activity as you are. (Putting a controller in front of them if you’re gaming, pretending to feed them bits of your meal, setting them up in front of the TV so they can enjoy the programs with you, etc) This one veers into pretend play, but it’s not as involved so I figured I’d include it.

Put them into your purse/backpack/bag so they can keep you company on your errands or other trips you take.

Set them up in nature or around the house and take photos of them. You can even scrapbook with the photos.

If they are sturdy enough, give them a bubble bath and then either stick them in a pillowcase and put it in the dryer, or air dry them in the sun. This is good for bonding with them, and general maintenance to keep them clean.

Write about them. You can make little character profiles for them, or even full stories! This is good if you have a hard time playing pretend but you still want to feature them in imaginative contexts.

Draw/paint pictures of them and hang them on your wall!

Finally, if this is something you’re up for, set up a side blog for your favorite plushie and document their life online. Make blog posts from their perspective, have them take “selfies” etc!

tips for depressed, chronically ill, & disabled littles.

it can sometimes be hard to feel little when you spend a lot of time in pain, bedridden, dealing with scary big thoughts, or any of the other things that can accompany mental or physical disabilities so these are things u can do to feel small with little effort.

ᯓ★ keep soft blankets + stuffies near you

literally what’s smaller than having your soft little comfort plushes with you? this is probably the easiest thing u can do that will make you feel at least a little smaller.

ᯓ★ download mobile games for kids

if you aren’t someone who can get up and down off the floor or if you’re in a lot of pain, or if its just a rough day and you want to stay in bed little kid games are good for feeling tiny.

ᯓ★ play baby music or soft lullabies 

if you’re not feeling up to playing at all and just need to rest, lullabies and nursery rhymes are rlly good for helping you rest and helping you feel tiny.

ᯓ★ age regression fanfic

this might sound silly but for littles with chronic pain something that genuinely can help is mood boards, one shots, etc. about ur favorite fictional cgs.

ᯓ★ think of your ‘lazy’ clothes as baby clothes

toddlers and babies are almost always dressed in comfy soft clothes so if you’re always in your soft sweatpants or cozy pjs to alleviate discomfort it’s just like little kids getting dressed in their soft little clothes!

ᯓ★ middle regression is always an option

if you’re worried about regressing because you have to take care of yourself (ex. handle a walking aid, medicine, etc.) middle regression is super accessible because you can be regressed and do a lot of the things big you can already do

middle regression can also entail less rambunctious/active play (videos games, reading, coloring, etc.)

ᯓ★ audio books 

if you look up ‘audio kids books’ or some form of that on youtube you can find kids stories read aloud! its something super fun that can make you feel small and you can do it anywhere at anytime.

ᯓ★ calming kids activities 

there are a whole bunch of websites that have ‘calm down’ activities for when kids are winding down from rambunctious play (playing with play dough, sensory toys, singing abcs/nursery rhyme games)

ᯓ★ remember not all regression looks the same

you don’t have to do anything to be small or to be valid as a regressor, regression looks different for everyone. there are ppl who regress and watch horror movies or ppl who regress while doing big kid things like going to the store or to school. your disability, no matter what form it comes in, does not invalidate your regression.

I hear you stirring on the baby monitor, fighting sleep. Next thing I know, your sweet little head pokes in the doorway, your arrival preceded by the patter of tiny feet. Your hair is wild, paci hanging from its clip on your sleep shirt, treasured stuffed toy in tow. Papa?

Just to finish this sentence... What's that, baby? You tug on my sleeve with a whine, and I look away from my glowing blue iMac. I push my reading glasses up into my ruffled hair, tousling your head. My room is dark but for its light, and I've been up working on my college classes ever since I put you to bed. Rain raps at the window. The Eagles play softly on the CD player up above, more to keep me awake than anything else. I notice the time with a start - much too late for papas or little ones. It's late, honey, whatcha doing up?

Papa... your lower lip juts out, and I can't help but scoop you up in my arms as tears roll down your cheeks, rubbing your back as I do so. Miss you!

I soften, wiping your tears with my thumb. Of course, how could I have been so careless? Oh darling, papa's finals week has been so hard for you, huh? You nod in confirmation, rubbing your stuffed lovie on your cheek for comfort, fiddling with my fingers. I offer you your forgotten pacifier, and you take it, blinking plaintively at me, eyes glassy from a lack of sleep. Is the thunder scary? You wanted daddy?

Yeah.. you sniff, throw your arms around me, face immediately buried in my shirt. I won't let you go again.

Well, let's fix that sweetheart. My lovebug is much more important, the work can wait, and you need your papa. I power off my monitor. Fancy pickin' out a show for us? Hmm little bat? I tickle your hiding cheek, and you nod hesitantly, so I lift you up to the shelf with the VHS tapes. You snatch the Goodnight Show, a little smile peeking out from behind your pacifier. There's my sweet sugar.

Good choice little dude! I load the tape into the VCR and we settle into bed, me and you and your lovey. You cuddle against my chest, and I rub your head as your eyes slip open and shut, relaxing already. You'll be sleeping with me until finals are over, you can be sure of that, and you'll never have to be afraid of the thunder again.

Hongjoong: He’s a distrusting little Scorpio, you think he’s gonna let his guard down that easily? Hongjoong regresses to about 4, give or take a year. Most people will never ever see it, but little Hongjoong is very, very sweet and considerate. He does his chores, he plays well and shares with his friends, and is very, very clingy.

I don’t think he likes being picked up very much or sharing his caregiver’s attention, though. Hongjoong can and will throw a bit of a tantrum (he bites, fair warning), but usually can be talked down. He likes to read, write, and draw in his little headspace but sometimes gets so locked in that he starts slipping out and needs to be coaxed back to little space.

(Cartoons, crayons, and running a soothing hand through his hair should do the trick ^-^)

Seonghwa: Until someone tells him what age regression even is, he’s probably already doing it and has no clue what it’s called. He just likes to wear pajamas and rolls around on his tummy and play with Wooyoung and San and be taken care of and… oh.

He regresses to about 2-5 years old and likes wearing genderless, soft clothes. He’s okay with being called cute names like “bubba”, “prince” or “princess”, and “bun”, but he’d prefer mostly to be called his name. He’s also a little emotional, so handle with care…

Spend time with him! Play Animal Crossing with him! Watch a movie with him! Build a Lego set with him. Actually, no -let him build all the Legos and you can sit and watch! Wait, wait… don’t touch the pieces. He’ll cry if you touch the pieces. You’re not playing with the Legos right, just… okay. Just put the piece down and let baby Hwa have it. There we go. You’re welcome, little one.

Yunho: More of an age dreamer than regressor. Genuinely just can’t do it, he doesn’t know why. Probably dreams anywhere between 6-8 years old, I can’t see him being much younger than that.

Call him lots of pet names and reassure him that he’s doing a good job at… whatever it is he’s doing. He thrives on praise, he’s such a good boy. He just kind of sits and plays video games and rambles about dumb stuff he found on the internet.

Make him a plate of dino nuggies and listen to his rambles? Yeah, you’re his favorite person ever actually.

Yeosang: Gentlest baby, just so quiet and sweet. I can see Yeosang regressing to maybe 3 at the very youngest? When he’s around Wooyoung, he can get a bit worked up but he’ll be okay if you put him down for a nap. He remembers his manners and remembers to say “please”, “thank you”, and “excuse me”. Just heart-meltingly adorable.

But sometimes Yeosang becomes insecure about age regressing and can become defensive. Try not to call him cute during these little tantrums, he really doesn’t like it. Instead, pretend he’s big and scary -a big, scary puppy! It helps his confidence and soon enough, he’ll be back to being your happy, gentle baby boy.

San: Oh… sweet little San cries a lot. He regresses to a very little age, like 0-2. He likes to be babied, paid attention to, and held.

Little Sannie likes to babble, doesn’t like tight clothes, and gets so sad when you don’t pay him enough attention! Seriously, he wants to be near his caregiver or another little at all times because he’s fr got the object permanence of an infant. It’s pretty cute, until he’s crying and whining and babbling for you to come find him and pick him up.

Mingi: Someone please wrap this baby in bubble wrap, please and thankies. He’s such a clumsy little guy, he just wants to be spoiled. Little Mingi has a pretty wide range, anywhere from 0-5, and he’s a bit nervous around new people so you’ve gotta introduce him to friends very, very slowly. And hold his hand the whole time. <3

Mingi can be insecure about his height, so be sure to make him feel very tiny! He likes oversized clothes and blankies, as well as being fed instead of feeding himself (“here comes the airplane” works every time, like a charm!)

Wooyoung: Speaks in the third person all the time. A nightmare child. Probably needs ritalin and warm milk. An absolute brat (in the most loving way possible).

Despite all this, though, he always reminds you that he’s grateful you’re his caregiver and tries his hardest to do nice thing for you without being asked… even when it ends with sticky, syrupy countertops, spilled flour, and a lopsided breakfast in bed.

…It’s the thought that counts, right?

Jongho: MY BABY!!! He’s not exactly one for baby talk and is slowly getting used to feeling little (since he’s so used to being the oldest out of his siblings), so it’s a little harder and he needs help to regress. When he does regress, though, he’s a very helpful boy, probably between 5-6 years old. He likes to help around the house and is pretty independent for a little.

Isn’t fussy or easily upset and eats well. The weirdest part is how outgoing and talkative he’s become! He feels comfortable around you, so he just kinda shoots off at the mouth and just says whatever comes to mind. Little Jongho’s got a lot to say, so you’ve gotta listen carefully or he’ll pout.

bakugo age regresses around the 2-5, but age dreams around 0-2.

he doesn’t regress too young, but likes to because he feels like he has no anxiety and everything sort of feels fuzzy when he gets so young. nevertheless it’s terrifying to him to go that far, but when he feels safe and he eventually gets there, he doesn’t wanna go back.

he doesn’t have a lot of gear, but the people who know abt his agere encourage it and often buy little things for him.

he is a padded regressor however it did take him awhile to become comfortable with it

he’s hyperactive, often forcing others to play with him

kinda hates arts and crafts… it depends because he hates following rules but if he’s good at it, then he’ll play but he often gets bored if he’s not physically jumping off the walls

although he doesn’t play a lot with rattles, he likes having them around

many teethers

only pacifiers or a bottle will soothe his crying (he often wants juice in his bottle but milk is good too)

i personally hc his main cg as izuku (dada/mama), but i can see many characters like ochaco and mina as big sisters (despite being older) and iida and momo as moms. denki and shoto are lowkey his little brothers

usually non deco gear, or very simple designed gear— or like stickers over his stuff

onesies that specifically cover his legs and tootsies

doesn’t ever really get quiet, always screaming (unaware of his volume), even when really small, he’s babbling about something or mumbling over his teether/binky

very messy

Playing with toys looks different for everyone, even actual children!

Playing with toys can look like: 🧸🪁🚂

Taking pictures of your toys and writing captions for them

Brushing or grooming soft toys or toys with rooted hair

Ordering or sorting your toys by colour/species etc

Making up stories, poems or comics about your toys

Dressing or accessorising your toys

Imagining your toys talking to you or each other, forming opinions of their own, etc

Drawing your toys

Taking your toys for a walk outside, even in a backpack or pocket if you don't want to carry them openly

Making lists of the toys you have and where you got them etc
