#FICTIVES ARE NOT THEIR SOURCE

So we just received this ask, and I might be misunderstanding it, but it feels odd to me.

My interpretation, is that this system/alter, is sad that a character from a piece of media hasn't formed as a fictive in any systems they talk to.

My hope is that I'm wrong, and completely off base here.

However, if I'm not, this is weird and honestly not the greatest.

As a fictive, missing your source is okay. Wanting to talk to source mates is also fine!

But when you start looking for certain source mates for romantic reasons it gets weird.

Fictives are not our source, and trust me as much as I would love to be able to date my source partner again, it would be really weird for me to go to other systems, or wait for other systems to split him as a fictive, and try to date their fictive.

Especially because splitting is traumatic. And forming with pseudo memories and waking up somewhere else is terrifying. It took me at least a year to fully adjust, our systems gatekeeper actually has a rule against letting new alters front until we've adjusting enough to not cause the body or us issues.

Okay so, we have a partner system, while being a system ourselves. we both are autistic systems which usually entails having a lot of fictives. And boy oh boy do we have good crack ships for you! I just wanted to list some of our crack ships between our fictives. (which are okay with us doing this)

Having a fictive is, kinda weird, and for a couple of reasons.

One minor one I'm gonna talk about is seeing people talk about the source character of that fictive in some negative way where it's just. Like on one hand it ultimately doesn't even matter and you aren't even mad about it cause like, everyone has their own opinions on a thing and they aren't actually talking about your fictive, they probably don't even know they exist, etc.

But on the other hand there's also this faint feeling in your heart that's just like:

It’s quite common and totally normal for fictives to have complicated, conflicted, or confusing feelings about their source! Most introjects cannot choose our sources, and it’s okay if we don’t know how to feel about them or have difficulties engaging with them for whatever reason. If you’re a fictive who has complicated feelings regarding your source, this post is for you!
