system joy moment!!!!

its so rare to feel connection to a story or character in a DID way cuz its so specific and hard to relate to anything, but the joy i just experienced with noel believing arthur about john and asking to speak to him directly, arthur specifying when john was saying something...really warmed my heart

only a few of my singlet friends know im a system and its such a weight off to talk to them about it, for them to just accept me talking about it without looking at me like a zoo animal. i forget we can just be ourselves around them and when we do just switch or speak in our own voices with our individual perspectives its like the best feeling in the world

Little reminder from an Outed system:

You do not have to tell everyone you're a system or about your disorders/disabilities.

Even from a very open system (us) we are very open about what we have, what we are, and the troubles that surface from such.

People will still paint you as a monster or ridicule you and try to beat you down further. People are stupid and humanity is failing.

You do not have to try to prove yourself right or prove yourself at all if you see the battle is unfair. That does not make you weak, and it doesn't make you what they say you are.

If you know you aren't, thats all you need.

if you're actively being abused and you discovered a large amount of your DID/system without any professional help or self recovery there's a chance you may be mistaking [some of] your symptoms. DID tends to hide itself during stressful situations or when you're doing poorly mentally, so it isn't realistic to be super aware of your system while you're being actively traumatised. is it possible? sure, but you might be documenting your experiences a little inaccurately at the very least. am i saying it's impossible to know you have DID while going through trauma? not at all, though you might assume some things inaccurately about your system. it's definitely something to consider. the safer you are the more accurate your knowledge about your system becomes, if that makes sense.

i feel like some ppl forget that a diagnosis doesn't automatically make signs/symptoms of a disorder magically appear.

you had the disorder before getting diagnosed, it doesn't magically manifest after a therapist says you have it. that's something that confuses me, how someone says "you can't have X disorder, you aren't diagnosed", when in reality being diagnosed doesn't change much. it confirms you do in fact have it since you've been evaluated, but what else?? literally all a diagnosis is, is a piece of paper saying "This person has X disorder"

i'm rambling, but basically what i'm saying is disorders will still be there if you get a diagnosis or not, you just may not be aware you have that disorder. it's still there, just lurking...

this isn't to say "everyone is disordered!" but just a general "diagnosis isn't everything", yk? or to say you shouldn't seek out a professional diagnosis because knowing for sure about these things could be good depending on the person. moral: a person with autism is still autistic whether they're formally diagnosed or not
