#when she finds out he was talking about his daughter though

hi! i was thinking if you could write an older!boyfriend simon x reader BUT reader is john price's daughter so is kinda of a forbidden and secret relationship !!!! they've been dating for a long time now until john finds out !!!!!
18+
"how is she?"
"doing well, john. but you don't have to worry about her anymore, you know that right? she's not yours to worry about."
"she is mine. i know she's not..." john huffs. "she may not be blood, but she's mine, yeah? so when i ask 'ow she is, you tell me, kate. can we agree on that?"
"sure, john. she's in georgia. her russian got very good. if you want to know my honest opinion, i think she'll be one of my best."
"well...i wouldn't stand for anythin' less."
"john?"
that voice is music to him. he turns, taking his hat off, and he laughs, genuinely, when he sees you. his whole face lights up, and you make your way to him. it's been months since you've seen him in person--even though he makes you send him constant updates about what you're doing and where you are, you find yourself missing this man and the warmth he gives off whenever you are in his proximity.
he's always looked at you so kindly. he's always taken care of you. whenever you pick up the phone, he's always answered.
"'ello, bug."
he crushes you in a warm hug. he puts a hand on the back of your neck and holds you to his chest, and the tension in his shoulders deflates now that he has you with him.
"hi, john. miss me?"
"well...you were the only one with sense in my house."
"you live alone, john."
"aye."
he pours you a hot cup of tea before he makes you tell him all about your new posting. most of it is classified, and you tell him that, but his face lights up when you talk about the new skills you're learning and all the opportunities that kate is giving you. his face scrunches a little when you talk about the more dangerous ops, but john never has the same regard for his own life.
the mess hall gets busy once dinner time rolls around. his men were not expecting you, and that much is clear when they see their captain even enjoying a meal in public and not secluded in his office. you smile at his sergeants, but when your gaze lingers a little longer on the doors, johnny just nudges you with his elbow.
"miss the big guy?"
"what? no."
"he had a long night last night," he wiggles his eyebrows at gaz, who just laughs a little. "i might need to try the whole brooding, scary look LT has got on. attracts the most bonnie things, fuckin' christ."
your plate flies when you stab at your food too hard. the cutlery clatters as it hits the floor, and you jump a little, swallowing.
"are you alright, bug?"
"huh? yeah, oh...yeah, just...fucking clumsy. i...i'm gonna...find the toilet."
the blood is rushing in your ears as you make your way out. you're vibrating, hot inside, and you feel him before you see him, even in your anger.
when he pulls you into the shadow of a nearby supply closet, you swipe the blade out of your boot and hold it up against his throat. even through the mask, the blade bites, and he hisses as you hold him up against the wall there.
"don't fucking touch me," you snarl, and ghost's eyes are bright and alive as he holds his hands up defensively.
"wot--"
"and don't what me," you snap. "actually, don't fucking talk at all, you cheating, manipulative, british piece of shit--"
"look so pretty," he murmurs, tilting his head to the side. "did you do y'r hair, baby?"
"i will kill you."
"'s olright. last thing i see'll be you."
"i'm not fucking kidding, simon!"
he bends a little, tilting his head, and you breathe out through your nose as he leans his forehead against yours.
"reckon ya spoke t'johnny."
you scoff. "told me all about your winnings last night, lieutenant."
"was no winnings, love, don't be so fuckin' naïve." simon swipes at the handle of the blade, curling his gloved fingers around your wrist and forcing it away from him. "y'r just mad cause y'r cunt missed me."
"don't flatter yourself, asshole."
"so if i pull your knickers down right now, y'won't be drippin', swee'eart?"
"that's irrelevant."
"'s not. turn around and bend over."
simon's sorry, so he eats your pussy from behind. he gets down on his knees, and the crack of them satisfies you immensely, up until you feel his mouth between your cheeks, tongue slicking up your folds. you brace yourself against the wall, palms flat against the concrete as he puts two gloved hands against your ass and spreads you wide to fit himself nicely there. he hums, groans, makes you whine as he slurps obscenely into your cunt, laving at the drip of you until the taste of you floods his mouth.
"simon..." you whimper. "tell me i-it's not true."
he presses a wet kiss to your ass, biting it firm.
"'s not true, love. promise."
"fuck your promises," you sniffle. "you're a professional liar."
"tha' 'ow it's gonna be, innit? not gonna trust me? believe me?"
you rest your forehead against the cool wall, and the shadow of him envelopes you when he stands. he grunts a little as he gets to his feet. his big hands squeeze at the curve of your waist, and you close your eyes when you feel his breath against your neck.
"i'm sorry, simon."
"for wot?"
"i just...i like you so much. so much."
"come 'ere," he murmurs in your ear. he pulls your hips back, pressing your ass against his pelvis, and you dig your nails into the wall when you hear his belt buckle and zipper. "my pretty girl. my pretty, pretty girl."
"i missed you s-so much, simon."
"i know, love. quiet now. someone'll hear."
it's not the worst place you've fucked. you've snuck quickies in the rec room. behind the mess hall. met up in filthy gas station toilets, fallen into the backseat of a car in the parking lot of numerous military bases. even once, you deigned to suck his dick in his office, and you had to hide behind his couch when john came in to ask about an op.
john had a rule. his men were off-limits. he should've thought about that before he hired a man straight out of your wet dreams for his stupid fucking task force.
you're weak. and simon is a man.
inevitable.
you're a mile into pound-town when someone interrupts. simon is cock-deep inside of you, pelvis up against your ass, one hand braced around your throat and the other squeezing your ass. your eyes are rolled back into your head, and there's drooling coming out of your mouth. it's hot, disgusting, filthy to let him have you like this, but it's been weeks since you've seen him, and the phone calls aren't enough.
you love talking to him. you love when he talks to you. he'll never be annoying to you, you'll never get tired of him, but the distances hurts. you want simon to be all around you--inside of you, against you, his voice in your ear and his mouth against yours and his warmth your only sheet, but you can't bring yourself to do more than this.
you're too afraid of disappointing people. you're too scared of simon's rejection. if your relationship is nothing but fun, nothing but sex, you can pretend it isn't real, but you're just lying to yourself now.
you babble, and it sounds like love, but then the hallway light blinds you, and familiar blue eyes nearly kill you.
"jesus christ!"
simon puts his body in front of yours to cover you, using a harsh boot to kick the door closed. you squeak, covering your face with your hands, and you groan audibly as simon pants against your back.
"fuck--" you gasp. "oh...fuck, fuck, fuck!"
simon buries his face into the crook of your neck, laughing a little.
"bloody hell," he breathes. "reckon we're fucked, huh, love?"
"it's not funny, simon! we're in so much trouble!"
"well..." he squeezes your throat gently, tilting your head back. "could still finish. no sense in pretendin' now."
"you are not going to come when he's probably waiting for us outside."
"i'm balls deep in my favorite girl," simon mutters. "could come just fine. just say the word."
"you're disgusting."
"mmm..." simon squeezes your hips. "keep talkin'. i like when y'talk t'me like tha'."
"fucking asshole."
"yeah...yeah."
"you stupid, immature, unhinged pain in my ass--"
"fuck."
well.
you're definitely never leaving this room.
#you are never allowed to come back to base :D#i had no idea how to end this#but i think its so canon that once simon is in deep shit#what's the point in pretending#he would totally be like “well might as well just finish”#cause simon doesn't do anything half ASSED ok especially being with his girl#anyways#simon ghost riley#simon riley#simon ghost riley x reader#simon riley x reader#simon riley x you#ghost mw2#ghost cod#ghost call of duty#ghost mwii#ghost x reader#cod#call of duty#simon riley smut#simon ghost riley smut#simon thoughts

old art again!! this time a rough animation of sawyer and yarnaby 😎 (looks better if u click to view 😭)
im working on a short ppt animation rn. im thinking i should post it to my youtube channel, though im not sure if people here would see it. i think i can link videos on here?? idk
okay I'm gonna talk abt more chapter 4 stuff.. this time about prototype's previous identity.. ch4 spoilers and also a theory below..
hiding the solo yarnaby under here LOL
people theorized 1006 was elliot, which was recently disproven in the chapter 4 tape where poppy refers to elliot as her dad and wishes he were there. in the same tape she addresses prototype as a completely different person. also recall that elliot died in the 90s, meanwhile prototype met theo in 1989. so yeah, they aren't the same person
I've also seen people say rich is prototype, which cannot be true either. in a ch4 tape he speaks to one of the boys who eventually got turned into doey. the kid mentions his coworkers joking about him going missing. before the bbi, it would not make sense for this to be a common rumor at the company, which means this tape had to happen after harley was hired in 1990; at a time when the company would have a reason to silence people
prototype existed in 1989 at the minimum, but considering he says "it's always been about you and me" to poppy, he's likely the prototype of HER. she's elliots daughter, she died in the 60s, meaning prototype was probably created around that time as well.
this means that rich can't be the prototype because he was human long after prototype was made
if you want my take on who prototype truly is, i'd say his identity doesn't necessarily matter. i don't mean to say his origins aren't important, just that his name and specific role in the past probably doesn't mean anything in the long run. i've never believed he was elliot or rich, and maybe in the future i'll be proven wrong but for now i'll tell you the theory i've had since june of last year
elliot's daughter dies in the 60s. he divorced his wife in 1930, so his daughter is probably in her 30s when she dies. she gets sick or injured, maybe she's actively dying or already dead by the time elliot begins his research. he looks for ways to bring her back, but it doesn't work on the rats (as he mentioned a note in the 2nd chapter)
so what does he do? he tries it on something bigger as he said he would: a human. of course he's not going to try this experimental method on his own daughter, even if she's already dead, so he finds someone else to use it on. we know that elliot wasn't evil or anything, so it's unlikely he killed anybody to use for the experiment. considering the orphanage isn't open yet (it opened in the 70s, not the 60s), prototype probably wasn't an orphan child either. if i run with my simple version of the theory, elliot may have dug up a body in a graveyard and used that. maybe a fresh one, who knows. he tried it, it worked, then he revived his daughter with the same method.
this is likely what harley wanted to know about in the chapter 3 tape (the "i learn something new about you every day" one), and also what prototype is asking harley to figure out in the ch4 tape they're both in. in that case, sawyer never actually figured out how to revive people with the poppy substance. sure, he can transfer people into the toys, but he can't bring anybody back to life
more reason to believe prototype and poppy are of the same "batch" is because it seems they are the only two who don't need food. it's outright stated about him in the ch1 trailer, and insinuated with her saying the "toys will starve otherwise" when she's talking about how nasty them eating humans is. she refers to them, not herself. her and prototype are probably the only 2 who were ever brought back from the dead, which circles back around to his monologue and gives meaning to the "it's always been about you and me, poppy. what we are". when i heard him say that i felt like my theory was lowk confirmed 😭😭
no guarantee this is right, but it's been my guess for a long time

In a mission slip up, both Captain Marvel and his "Daughter" Mary Marvel get captured in an unknown location while they are being secretly recorded and live streamed to the masses. These are some of the noments that have gone viral since this has started.
Mary: *Silently puting her hair up to focuse better on getting out*
Captain:...You look like her.
Mary: Hm?
Captain: What? Uh, a nothing.
Mary: Wait wait, do you mean mom?
Captain now visiballly nervouse: Hey we should focuse on getting out of here.
Mary: No wait come on! You never talk about her and you know I dont remember anything.
Captain: Then ask Jr.
Mary: What!? Hey what would he know? Jr. never met her.
Captain: He would know not to ask dumb questions.
Mary: I- ughh just. Please.
Captain sighes: ...Ok ok...just give me a second.
Mary: So?
Captain: You haver her mannerisms.
Mary: Mannerisms?
Captain: You- god I'm bad at this. You do things, little things just like she did. Like the way you tie your hair or the way you avoid small obsticals by jumping over it. Or how when you read you refuse to break the spine even though I find that ridiculouse.
Mary: It protects to book!
Captain: From what? The Bend?
Mary smacks him causing the Captain to laugh.
Captain: Hey now that I think about it. You also have her temper.
Mary: You!
This goes Viral everywhere, #captaindad and #singlefathermarvel start trending along side #marvelfamily and #babybrotherjr for some reason.
The League saw this while trying to locate them and get a hold on the situation. They have to take a moment for themselves to proccese what they just saw. Some more then others. Jr. Is getting many weird looks from the YJ he does not want to acknowlege.
Alls this to say that when they get back Billy gets a really weird and uncomfortable talk with the JL about "being more open" and "letting his kids know more about their family" which he just does not want to deal sith at all, please leave me alone, we are not talking about dead lovers, wtf.
Mary gets treated to some sort of "so you have a (suprisingly) emotionally consipated parent" initiation club by the teen titains. They have cake.
Jr. Is laughing his ass off, from where hed hiding from the YJ and their plan to "force family therapy.
Why cant they all be normal?

I know people have already talked about this scene before but I wanted to break it down myself because I love it so much. Little Lira yells "Rayla! Callum wants to have ten babies with you!" and everyone's reactions just kill me
Poor Callum has been doing so well with these kids, he's gonna be such a good dad one day, and he knows EXACTLY where he went wrong that produced this result and he also knows there's NOTHING he can do to stop it
Ethari is clearly the first of the elves to start to process what she said. Rayla's so distracted. Runaan frankly just looks tired.
:3 Rayla doesn't look upset at the concept though, just surprised. And Stella is literally just the :o meme.
Lira looks so pleased with herself. This little girl lives for chaos. She has done this on purpose. The smallest child here is convinced they're about to die (figuratively). The middle child is just trying to figure out what the big deal is. Callum is going for damage control.
He also knows this little girl did this to him on purpose. Ezran has absolutely said shit like that out of context to get him in trouble.
Rayla's recovering, has to blink to process what just happened. Runaan is like I barely signed up for one child, I'm not babysitting grandchildren yet. He's reconsidering whether being alive is a good thing. Ethari is connecting the dots between Lira's mischievous nature and Callum's frantic reaction.
He's the first elf adult to fully grasp what's just happened, and this is fucking hilarious. He brought this on the poor boy by unleashing Lira on him without warning him.
Runaan and Rayla have a strong like father like daughter moment as Ethari just loses it laughing. What was this household like when Rayla was growing up? How often did this happen? Ethari is the dad with all the puns that make them both groan and Runaan threaten his life, you can just tell
The laughter sinks in and Runaan visibly remembers why he likes being alive. Rayla is more concerned about how funny Ethari finds this than the statement itself. You can see her thinking Moon help me, Dad, please no.
Lira is so proud of herself. She made Pride Papa Ethari cackle. Callum isn't sure what to do but is fairly certain he's not in trouble. Runaan is vaguely amused at how much this hit his husband in the funny bone. We can no longer see Rayla's expression.
god I love the Moonfam parts of this episode. Runaan is so fucking done with having guests, Callum is a good partner and is gonna be such a great dad one day, and Ethari and Rayla are both just so happy to be home and together again
#the dragon prince#tdp season 7#moment of appreciation also for Runaan's little sliver of hip showing#he has finally changed his outfit but the shirt clearly belongs to Ethari#it's Ethari's color scheme and is a tad too big for him#his pants are still riding too low but at least these don't have holes in them#he's still showing that strip of skin though#is Runaan the bitch who doesn't wear shirts if there's no kids around#tdp callum#tdp rayla#tdp ethari#tdp runaan#rayllum#ruthari#moonshadow elves#mooncubs#tdp mooncubs#tdp lira

Baby Daddy!Logan thoughts
Wolverine x AFAB! reader
a/n: go into all of my x-men fics n stuff with canon as a mere suggestion :) this one's pretty ok,but yk. For future reference.
contents: fluff, girl dad!Logan,a kid b4 marriage(accidental but wanted),slight angst sprinkled in,lightly suggestive in one bit but it's not full nsfw or anything
🌸 Logan didn't mean to get you pregnant and he was honestly upset when you first found out. He was happy for you,bc you wanted kids but he didn't think he deserved to be a father.
🌸 Once he decided he was sticking around (because let's be honest, there was some part of him that thought leaving so you could find someone better was the move) he's very attentive.
🌸and I'm not just talking "oh,he goes to every check up and rubs your feet" I'm talking he will hike ten miles in the snow at 2 a.m if you're craving something specific and will return with a smile on his face because yeah, that was tough but you're growing a kid, which is harder.
🌸really wanted you to have a home birth, mainly because he doesn't trust medical situations, especially if you and the baby are also mutants. (and if you still do it at the hospital,he is fucking VIGILANT. He's watching every fucking thing that happens like a hawk.)
🌸you have a girl ofc
🌸he's never really been around kids this little,so for a long time he doesn't know what to do with her.
🌸he uses Jean's Facebook to look at parenting tips(he later learns this is not the greatest source),and consequentially ends up buying a ton of stuff that your daughter is too young to even need off Marketplace (bikes, clothes meant for much older kids, rain boots, jungle gym, etc.)
🌸he hates!! Hates!! those little tutus that seem to be on every little girl onesie, he thinks the tulle is scratchy and how on earth could someone subject their baby to that?
🌸a lot of the clothes your daughter winds up wearing are pretty gender neutral and frequently thrifted or bought from small businesses. Logan says this is because modern, mainstream baby clothes are "Down right fucking hideous, who designs this shit?"
🌸he makes some of her toys. A small set of wooden blocks here, a patchy ugly teddy bear there. He just doesn't love the unnaturally bright colors and loud noises that most baby toys come with, plus,he's got a lot of affection he doesn't know what to do with.
🌸hates late night diaper changes with a passion. He only just started sleeping without nightmares, and the baby won't even let him get a full 8 hours?? He takes all of them though, because "you do the more important stuff"
🌸big fan of the way your appearance changed, btw. I personally think he's always been the type to find stretch marks and some squish attractive, but the fact that these are from you growing his little girl makes it all the more beautiful.
🌸he is not, however,a fan of having to wait until you're healed up for bedroom stuff. He can do it, he's not an animal, but you're just so fucking gorgeous and he's so fucking happy. But,your health comes first, and he's not so stupid as to think he knows better than you on this.
🌸he doesn't quit smoking, but does at least start going outside and wearing a different jacket when he does it. He always washes his hands and face after he's done before he does anything near the baby.
🌸since this is *my* personal x-men canon, we're going to say that Laura is around the mansion somewhere and is not overly hyped about the baby sister. She's a little possessive over her dad,as some little girls are. (She'll get over it soon, especially once the baby is old enough to play with)
🌸Logan takes the baby on adventures once she's old enough to not get sick over everything. He'll pack a bag and disappear with Laura and the baby for a few hours, with very little explanation, and come back with a snoring toddler and a 10 year old covered in mud.
🌸he's happy that this kid has his mutation in it's organic form, instead of being injected with metal. however,it does make her stick out a bit visually. (she begins to display it at around age 11,with claws that aren't super sharp at all compared to Logan and Laura)
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
ok so that's it lolsies. Lmk if you want anything else with this idea or any specific scenarios.

☪Includes: Jing yuan, Blade, Sunday, Boothill, Dr Ratio ☪No defined pronouns/ anatomy specifics for reader, adoptive children (specified to each character), mention of loss of loved ones. ☪Extra note: Accepting requests! Wanting to get back into writing but I tend to struggle thinking of new ideas- tend to lean towards certain characters that I have a better understanding of their personality but open to anything! ♡
-`♡´-Jing yuan who names your adoptive daughter Mimi after his beloved companion . -`♡´-Jing yuan who juggles being a father and a father figure between your sweet girl and Yanqing. -`♡´-Jing yuan who goes out of his way to include the boy under his guidance into your little family, with you both treating him as you would your own child. -`♡´-Jing yuan who brings your daughter with him anywhere he can, making sure she's treated with more respect than anyone on the Lufou. -`♡´-Jing yuan who shows off his daughter to all his closest friends, with Fu xuan having a soft spot towards the little girl, not that she'd willingly admit to it. -`♡´-Jing yuan who's nickname for your toddler is "snowy" to match her name and it's origins.
♱✮♱ Blade who often forgets about your son, leaving him under the care of silverwolf when you're both busy with missions. ♱✮♱ Blade who spends most of the time just sitting near the child, making sure he causes no trouble with minimal interference. ♱✮♱ Blade who despite how he portrays himself, cares for the toddler beyond belief, willing to draw his blade at any malicious attempt directed towards the young child. ♱✮♱ Blade who would lay with your child for hours at a time, letting him sleep without disturbance while he contemplates life. ♱✮♱ Blade who has part of him that wishes you both would have entered his life earlier, before the mara took root in his body and not being cursed with immortality, inevitably knowing he'd lose you both one day. ♱✮♱ Blade who nicknames your boy "gremlin", often using it more than his actual name
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Sunday who heavily relies on Robin for help with your daughter when he's unavailable as head of the family. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Sunday who spends all his free time that he can with the both of you, walking around the dreamscape or relaxing together in your shared home. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Sunday who has learnt to be careful around the little girl, having had his wings locked in her iron grasp on multiple occasions, needing to wait for you to pry her hands open. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Sunday who holds your daughter in his arms as she dozes off after a long day, taking a moment to let himself rest while you preen his scuffed up feathers. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Sunday who let's your daughter hang off him, adding hair clip after hair clip to his now mangled grey hair. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Sunday who often calls your small toddler "angel", though he begins to question how fitting it is with her mischievous habits.
• ➵ ✩ Boothill who dedicates his whole being to protecting your daughter, unwilling to even consider the possibility of losing another one of his babies. • ➵ ✩ Boothill who talks about his little girl to your toddler, including her in your family even if it's only in spirit, always mentioning his two baby girls when family discussions occur. • ➵ ✩ Boothill who accidently teaches your child his censored version of any and every curse word in his vocabulary, panicking when she runs up to you shouting them. • ➵ ✩ Boothill who never takes his family time for granted, spending as much time playing with your child and showering you with affection before he's sent on a new mission after another target. • ➵ ✩ Boothill who was stuck digging pieces of crayon that melted together after your daughter shoved them in the holes of his metal plating when he was asleep, having little help from you who couldn't contain your laughter. • ➵ ✩ Boothill who often just calls your little girl sweetheart or honey, finding the simplicity more endearing.
・✎・Dr Ratio who despite his blunt personality, manages to be a good father to your son, with you both providing what you can for the young child. ・✎・Dr Ratio who sometimes forgets the mental capacity of a younger being, trying to teach him how to play chess so he has a partner for the game. ・✎・Dr Ratio who occasionally brings your sons to lectures, finding amusement in the child laughing when he insults one of his students. ・✎・Dr Ratio who maintains your child a safe distance from anything he deems could harm him, including his colleagues at work, especially a certain gambler who just adores the boy. ・✎・Dr Ratio who spends any free moment at home with the both of you, helping you around the house and being present whenever your child calls for him. ・✎・Dr Ratio who prides himself in his sons intelligence, calling him his "little genius" even if he's currently a little behind.

Pairing: Glen Powell x OC
Summary: As Gabby arrives in Austin, excitement and nerves swirl as she prepares to introduce Glen to her father, Mike, and her uncle, Joe. Tensions run high at first with Mike’s protective instincts kicking in, but Glen remains steady under pressure. Over the course of the evening, Mike observes Glen not just through conversation, but through the way he interacts with his family and, most importantly with Gabby. Later, Mike takes Glen aside for the classic "dad talk," testing his intentions and ultimately finding himself surprisingly impressed.
Warnings: Mild Family Tension (Protective Father), Mild Intimidation ("Dad Talk"), Mentions of Grief & Deceased Parent, Mild Alcohol Use (Social Drinking)
Word Count: 4.4k
Gabby stepped off the jet bridge, adjusting the strap of her bag over her shoulder. The warm Texas air hit her as soon as she entered the terminal, a stark contrast to the cooler breeze she’d left behind in Los Angeles that morning. Even though she’d been looking forward to this trip for weeks, a mix of excitement and nerves settled deep in her chest.
She spotted them instantly, first her dad, Mike, standing near the baggage claim with his arms crossed his stance effortlessly exuding protective father energy. Next to him Uncle Joe leaned casually against a pillar scrolling through his phone, completely unbothered.
As soon as Mike saw her, his expression softened. “There’s my girl,” he said, pulling her into a hug that nearly lifted her off her feet.
Gabby laughed, hugging him back. “Missed you too, Dad.”
Joe grinned as he pocketed his phone. “Hey, kiddo.” He leaned in, kissing her temple. “How was the flight?”
“Long,” she admitted. “But worth it.”
Mike raised an eyebrow. “Yeah? And how much of that has to do with seeing us and how much has to do with seeing this guy?”
Gabby sighed. “Here we go.”
Joe chuckled. “Oh, he’s been dying to ask about Glen since we got in the car.”
Mike ignored the comment, picking up her carry on like it weighed nothing. “So, what’s this guy like? Should I be worried?”
Gabby rolled her eyes. “No, you shouldn’t be worried.”
He gave her a look. “That’s exactly what a daughter would say if she didn’t want her dad to be worried.”
Joe shook his head. “Mike, the man flies fighter jets in movies and wears cowboy hats. He’s probably fine.”
Mike grunted. “We’ll see.”
As they started walking toward the exit, Gabby sighed, deciding it was best to get ahead of this now.
“Listen,” she said, looking up at her dad. “Just… be nice, okay? No interrogation, no intimidation. I actually like him, and I don’t need you scaring him off.”
Mike smirked but didn’t make any promises. “I’ve got to make sure this guy is good enough for my little girl. If he can’t handle a little conversation with me than maybe he ain’t the one sweetheart.”
Gabby groaned. “Oh my God, please don’t say things like that when you meet him.”
Joe laughed as he slung an arm around Gabby’s shoulders. “I cannot wait for this.”
The drive out to Glen’s place was filled with long stretches of open land, rolling fields, and the occasional herd of cattle lazily grazing beneath the sun. It was a stark contrast to Los Angeles, and yet, Gabby had grown to love it from just the one other time she’d been here.
She glanced down at her phone, fingers hovering over the screen before finally sending a quick warning text.
Gabby: We’re five minutes out. Please don’t be weird.
The three dots appeared almost immediately.
Glen: Define weird?
She huffed out a laugh, shaking her head.
Gabby: Just be normal. My dad is already skeptical.
Glen: Noted. Normal cowboy mode activated.
She rolled her eyes, slipping her phone into her lap just as the truck turned down the gravel road leading to Glen’s ranch.
As soon as the house came into view, Gabby spotted him. Glen stood on the front step, hands resting in his pockets, watching as they pulled up. Casual but put together in worn jeans, a fitted T-shirt, and boots that had clearly seen a day’s work. His hair was a little messier than usual, the late afternoon light making the golden strands even more noticeable. He looked ridiculously good, and her heart jumped into her throat at the sight of him.
Before Mike had even fully parked, Gabby threw open her door and practically launched herself out of the truck.
“Could’ve waited for me to at least turn it off,” she heard her dad mutter behind her, but she didn’t slow down.
Glen’s grin was instant the second he saw her, his arms open just in time for her to jump into him, wrapping her legs around his waist.
“Hey,” she breathed, hands threading through his hair as he caught her effortlessly.
“Hey,” he murmured back, holding her just a little tighter than necessary.
He spun her once before setting her down, but even when her feet touched the ground, he didn’t let go right away. His hands rested on her waist, hers on his chest, their eyes locked.
Gabby barely registered the sound of the truck doors closing behind her. It had been a month since she’d seen him in person which was too long. And judging by the way Glen’s fingers tightened on her hips for just a second, she knew he felt the same.
He tilted his head, dipping slightly not quite kissing her, but hovering close enough that her breath caught. It was a little more than PG, but still okay.
A pointed throat clearing from behind them.
Glen pulled back like he’d just been caught committing a felony. Gabby whipped around, finding her dad standing there, arms crossed, face unreadable. Her uncle, on the other hand, was barely containing his amusement.
Glen recovered quickly, his easy charm slipping back into place as he stepped forward, offering his hand.
“It’s really great to finally meet you, sir.” His tone was polite, confident, but not forced.
Mike took the handshake, firm, unyielding. “We’ll see about that.”
Gabby groaned internally.
Joe, ever the peacemaker, grinned as he shook Glen’s hand next. “Ignore him. He’s just mad Gabby didn’t tell him she was dating a movie star sooner.”
“I wasn’t hiding him,” Gabby defended. “I was just—”
“Delaying the interrogation?” Glen finished for her, smirking slightly.
Mike narrowed his eyes. “Smart man.”
Joe laughed. “Oh, this is gonna be fun.”
Glen didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Gabby’s carry on with one hand and rested his other hand lightly on the small of her back, guiding her up the porch steps.
“Come on in,” he said easily, glancing at Mike and Joe. “Make yourselves at home.”
Inside, the warm scent of home-cooked food filled the air, mixing with the faint crackle of music playing in the background. Gabby instantly recognized the lively hum of conversation. Glen’s family was already here.
As soon as they stepped inside, Cyndy appeared from the kitchen, her face lighting up.
“There she is!” she said warmly, pulling Gabby into a familiar hug.
Gabby sank into it, smiling. “Hi, Cyndy.”
“Glad you made it in okay, sweetheart” Cyndy said before pulling back, giving glen a knowing once-over. “This one’s been counting down the minutes.”
Gabby glanced at Glen, amused as he shook his head. “You didn’t have to tell her that, mom.”
“Sweetheart, you’re not subtle,” Cyndy teased before turning toward Mike and Joe.
“You must be Gabby’s dad,” she said, offering Mike a warm handshake. “Welcome.”
Mike took her hand, nodding. “Thanks for having us.”
“Of course! We’ve heard a lot about you,” Cyndy said with a smile before glancing at Joe. “And you must be the uncle we’ve heard about!”
“Hopefully all good things,” Joe said, grinning as he shook her hand.
Leslie and Lauren entered next, both already smirking.
“Well, well,” Leslie said, arms crossed. “Look who’s back.”
Lauren grinned, nudging Gabby. “Still putting up with our brother I see.”
Leslie turned toward Mike and Joe. “Welcome, y’all. Hope Texas is treating you well.”
Before they could respondGlen’s dad, Glen Sr. stepped forward, offering Mike a firm handshake.
“Good to have y’all here,” he said, his deep Texas drawl evident. “Hope the trip wasn’t too bad.”
Mike met his handshake evenly. “Not bad at all.”
Joe, on the other hand, grinned and clapped Glen Sr. on the back. “I gotta say, I feel like I already like you.”
“Oh?” Glen Sr. raised an eyebrow.
Joe nodded. “Because the second I walked in, your wife hugged my niece like she was already family, and your daughters are roasting your son. Reminds me of what happens when some of our family gets together.”
Leslie smirked. “It’s our love language.”
Glen sighed. “Again, we’re done with that.”
Lauren grinned. “Sure, birthday boy.”
Gabby laughed, feeling a little overwhelmed but in the best way. The Powells were so effortlessly welcoming, loud, and full of energy. Still, she snuck a glance at her dad, wondering how he was taking all of this in.
Mike, to his credit, didn’t seem rattled. But there was a carefulness to his expression, like he was still taking stock of everything.
Glen, sensing the moment, gave a nod toward the hall. “Let me show y’all around.”
He led them through the house, giving them the full rundown.
“This is nice,” Joe said, whistling. “I see why you left LA.”
Glen nodded, hands in his pockets. “Yeah. Always knew I’d come back here.”
The late afternoon had settled into one of those perfect Texas evenings warm but breezy, the kind that made you want to sit outside for hours. As the group stepped onto the deck, the scent of smoked barbecue lingered in the air, mixing with the laughter and easy conversation of Glen’s family and friends.
A few people were already gathered some of Glen’s childhood friends, a couple of his college friends, and even a few Gabby recognized from L.A. all blending seamlessly with his family.
Glen Sr. had already settled into one of the Adirondack chairs, bourbon in hand, looking completely at ease. When he saw Mike and Joe, he gestured toward the open seats nearby.
“Y’all drink bourbon?”
Joe grinned. “Is that even a real question?”
Glen Sr. chuckled and leaned forward, grabbing a bottle from the small table beside him. The label was slightly worn, the kind of bottle that had been aged and saved for special occasions. He poured three glasses neat and handed them over.
Mike took his glass, hesitating for half a second before nodding in approval. “Alright. Let’s see what Texas has to offer.”
Glen Sr. smirked. “Careful now. This one’s got a bite.”
They clinked glasses, and Gabby watched in mild disbelief as her dad took a sip, let it sit for a second, then gave an approving nod.
“Not bad,” Mike admitted.
Joe took a sip, letting out a satisfied sigh. “Damn, that’s smooth.”
Glen Sr. grinned, clearly pleased. “Good. Now that we got that settled tell me, Mike, are you one of those fair-weather football fans, or do you actually know the game?”
Gabby blinked.
Her dad tilted his head. “Oh, I know the game. Played a bit of it in college back in the day.”
Glen Sr. raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Longhorns fan?”
Mike scoffed. “Bulldogs, actually.”
A collective groan came from the group.
Glen, from across the deck, shook his head. “Well, this just got interesting.”
Glen Sr. leaned back, swirling his drink. “I should’ve known. You’ve got that stubborn energy.”
Joe smirked. “Oh, you have no idea.”
The conversation naturally rolled from football to old rivalries, and even a few dad jokes that made Gabby physically cringe.
She sipped her drink, watching her father who had walked in here prepared to be skeptical now looking completely at ease, talking to Glen’s dad like they’d known each other for years.
Joe elbowed her lightly, chuckling. “Well, that was unexpected.”
Gabby shook her head, still processing the sight in front of her. “Yeah, I thought I’d have to drag him here.”
Joe grinned. “Looks like you might have to drag him away from here instead.”
The evening soon settled into a comfortable lull. The fire pit crackled low, drinks were being refilled, and conversations had broken off into smaller groups.
Gabby was deep in conversation with Leslie and Lauren when Mike noticed Glen standing alone near the edge of the deck, watching the night sky. Mike took a sip of his bourbon, then set his glass down with quiet finality.
He crossed the deck, coming to stand beside Glen. “You serious about her?”
The question landed like a weight in the quiet space between them.
Glen turned fully to face Mike, no hesitation. “Yes, sir. I am.”
Mike studied him, his expression unreadable. “Serious is a strong word.”
Glen nodded, choosing his words carefully. “I know it’s only been a few months, and I get why that might seem fast. But I’ve never felt like this about anyone before.”
Mike exhaled, taking a slow sip of his bourbon. “You know, I’ve been around long enough to recognize when a guy’s just saying what he thinks a dad wants to hear.”
Glen met his gaze evenly. “I’d expect nothing less. But it’s not just words, sir. I mean it.”
Mike gave him a long, measuring look before leaning against the deck railing. “Alright then. Since it seems like you’re going to be around…at least for a while, might as well get to know you.”
Glen perked up slightly, a little surprised but open.
“Let’s start simple what do you do when you’re not making movies?” Mike asked. “What’s your thing?”
A small, easy grin tugged at the corner of Glen’s mouth. “Planes.”
Mike raised an eyebrow. “Planes?”
“Yeah.” Glen leaned against the railing too, suddenly more relaxed, more in his element. “I’ve been obsessed with them since I was a kid. I got my pilot’s license a few years ago. Any chance I get I’m up in the air.”
Mike hummed, genuinely intrigued now. “Commercial or just for fun?”
“Just for fun.” Glen shrugged. “I love the freedom of it. No cameras, no scripts just the sky and me. It’s kind of my escape when I need to get away.”
Mike nodded slowly, seemingly satisfied with that answer. “Alright. That’s actually pretty cool.”
Glen smirked. “Thanks. High praise coming from you.”
Mike side-eyed him, fighting a smirk of his own. “Don’t push it, kid.”
Mike swirled the bourbon in his glass. “So, movies. That the plan all along?”
Glen chuckled. “Yeah. It’s all I ever wanted to do since I was a little kid. Liked entertaining people.”
Mike raised an eyebrow. “Yeah?”
Glen exhaled. “I went to school at UT here in Austin. But I dropped out when acting took off. At the time, it felt like the right move.”
Mike’s expression didn’t shift much, but Glen felt the weight of his silence.
“So you never finished?” Mike asked after a beat.
Glen hesitated before shaking his head. “Not yet. But I’m working on it.”
Mike’s eyes flicked to him. “Yeah?”
Glen nodded. “I’ve been taking online classes to finish my degree. It’s a slow process, but it’s important to me. I want to finish what I started.”
Mike’s lips pressed together, considering. “That’s good to hear.”
And Glen could tell he meant it.
Mike sighed, shifting the glass in his hands. “Gabby’s been through a lot. She’s worked hard for the life she has. The last thing I want is for her to be an afterthought in yours.”
Glen’s jaw tightened slightly, his easy charm fading into something steadier, something real. “She’s not,” he said firmly. “I would never let her be.”
Mike took a slow breath. “You’ve got a big life, Glen. A flashy one. It’s a lot of attention, a lot of pressure. You’re used to it, but Gabby? She never wanted to be in the spotlight.”
“I know,” Glen admitted. “And I’m not gonna pretend to understand exactly what that feels like for her. But I do know that whatever she needs, whatever makes this easier I’ll do it. I don’t care if that means keeping things private, changing my schedule, or slowing down if I have to. She comes first.”
Mike studied him for a long moment. Finally, he gave a small, slow nod. “Good,” he said. “Because she deserves that.”
Glen nodded back. “I know she does.”
Mike tilted his head slightly. “And you? You deserve her?”
Glen swallowed, but his voice was steady. “I hope so. I’ll admit I have my flaws, but I really do my best to be good for her.”
Mike sat with that answer. It was the best one Glen could have given.
The evening had cooled, but the Texas heat still lingered in the air, softened by the breeze rolling across the open land. The sky was deep blue now, speckled with the first signs of stars, and the backyard was alive with movement laughter, quick footsteps, playful shouts carried through the night.
Mike stood on the edge of the deck, bourbon in hand, watching.
Below, a game of family football had broken out. It had started as a simple game of catch between Glen and his nephew, but then his sisters jumped in, then his mom got involved, and before long, Gabby with that fire in her eyes Mike knew all too well had grabbed the ball and challenged Glen to stop her.
That had been it. Now it was chaos in the best way. Glen’s dad stood a few feet away, watching the game with a lazy kind of amusement, shaking his head every so often at whatever stunt his son was pulling.
Mike, however, wasn’t looking at the game anymore. He was looking at Glen. And the way he was with his family. The way he let his nephew tackle him to the ground, even though he could’ve dodged easily. The way he high-fived his niece after she faked him out and scored. The way he laughed with his sisters, completely unfiltered, comfortable.
And then there was Gabby. Mike’s grip on his glass tightened slightly as he observed the little things. The way Glen’s eyes landed on her, even when she wasn’t paying attention. The way he looked at her, like she was the only thing in the world that mattered.
Gabby was sprinting down the yard, ball in hand, her expression all determination and mischief. Glen caught up in a few easy strides, grabbed her around the waist, and lifted her off the ground, spinning her around to stop her.
Gabby’s laughter rang out, her head thrown back against his shoulder, completely unguarded. Mike felt something tighten in his chest. He hadn’t seen her laugh like that in a long time.
Mike hadn’t realized how quiet he’d gone until Joe appeared at his side, hands in his pockets, following his line of sight.
For a few beats, Joe just watched. Then, smirking, he let out a soft chuckle. “So,” he said casually, “you like him.”
Mike scoffed, not looking away. “Didn’t say that.”
Joe hummed, taking a sip of his drink. “Right. You’re just standing here watching them with a smile on your face.”
Mike exhaled sharply through his nose, shaking his head. “He’s a good guy.”
Joe grinned. “Knew it.”
Mike rolled his shoulders, setting his glass down on the railing, jaw tightening slightly. “It’s just…” He sighed. “She’s my little girl, Joe.”
Joe nodded. “Yeah.”
Mike kept his eyes on Gabby on the way she and Glen moved together without even realizing it. The way Glen reached for her hand instinctively when she stumbled. The way Gabby swatted at him playfully, but never pulled away.
“She’s all grown up,” Mike said quietly.
Joe gave him a look. “You knew it was coming.”
Mike let out a slow breath. “Doesn’t make it easier.”
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The fire crackled in the background, the sounds of Gabby laughing as Glen spun her again filtering up from the yard.
Then Joe, a little softer this time, asked, “What do you think Michelle would’ve thought of him?”
Mike huffed out a quiet laugh, shaking his head.
“Oh, she’d have loved him.”
Joe chuckled. “Yeah?”
Mike turned, finally looking at his brother. “I mean, look at him. Charismatic, good with people, big personality, damn good smile. She would’ve liked him even more than Gabby does.”
Joe laughed shaking his head. “You might be right about that.”
Mike exhaled, a mix of amusement and something heavier sitting in his chest.
“She always said Gabby needed someone who could keep up with her,” Mike murmured. “Someone who wouldn’t try to dim that fire she’s got.”
Joe watched him carefully. “And?”
Mike finally looked back at the yard at Glen and Gabby, still wrapped up in their game, still looking at each other like nothing else existed.
“And I think she found him.”
Joe smiled, clinking his glass against Mike’s. “Guess that means you better start being nice to him.”
Mike scoffed. “Not a chance.”
Joe laughed, shaking his head. “Come on, you can’t be too hard on the kid.”
Mike just smirked, watching as Gabby tackled Glen to the ground.
Maybe he was being a little hard on Glen. But he was her dad. And it was his job to keep this kid on his toes.
Out on the lawn, the game had somehow turned even more competitive. Glen had the ball now, holding it just out of reach as Gabby circled him, eyes narrowed in determination.
“Oh, come on,” she taunted, hands on her hips. “What, you scared I’ll take you down?”
Glen smirked, spinning the ball between his hands. “Not scared. Just trying to figure out if it’s even fair to make you lose twice in one night.”
Leslie snorted from across the yard. “Glen, you’re talking a lot of shit for someone about to get absolutely wrecked.”
Gabby grinned. “Exactly.”
Glen just arched a brow, playing it cool. “Alright then. Come and get it.”
And that was all she needed. Gabby launched herself at him, fast and determined, catching him by surprise. Glen had half a second to react before she tackled him full force, sending them both tumbling to the grass. The ball slipped from his grip as they hit the ground, Gabby’s triumphant laugh ringing out into the night.
Pinned beneath her, Glen let out a dramatic groan. “Oh, so that’s how we’re playing, huh?”
Gabby grinned, straddling his waist, her hands planted on his chest. “You said to come and get it.”
Glen tilted his head, lips quirking up. “Should’ve been more specific.”
She laughed, and it was that sound the one that was easy and full and real that made Mike’s chest tighten again.
From the deck, Mike just shook his head, sipping his drink, watching it all unfold.
Joe, still standing beside him, let out a low whistle. “Man, she got him good.”
Mike smirked, unable to deny it. “Yeah. She did.”
And what was more surprising?
Glen let her win. He could’ve held onto the ball longer, could’ve stopped her from taking him down—but he hadn’t.
Because winning wasn’t the point for him. Gabby was.
Out on the grass, Gabby finally pushed herself up, still grinning like she’d won the Super Bowl.
“Alright, get up, old man,” she teased, reaching down.
Glen huffed, grabbing her hand. “I am in peak athletic form, thank you very much.”
She snorted. “Sure you are.”
Glen let her help pull him up, but instead of letting go right away, his hands brushed along her arms, then instinctively down to her waist, steadying her.
It was subtle. Effortless. Like holding onto her was something he didn’t even have to think about.
Gabby tilted her head up at him, still catching her breath, her smile softer now. For a second, it was like the whole game had disappeared. Just the two of them, standing there in the glow of the string lights, eyes locked, bodies close.
Then, Glen dusted grass off her arms, his touch lingering for just a beat too long.
“Can’t have you getting all dirty,” he murmured.
Gabby rolled her eyes, but she didn’t pull away.
From the deck, Mike watched it all. The way Glen looked at her. The way Gabby leaned into him without even thinking about it. The way they just fit.
Joe, who had also caught the moment, nudged Mike’s arm. “Well,” he said, “if you weren’t already coming around to him, that right there should seal the deal.”
Mike didn’t say anything at first. He just took another slow sip of his drink, exhaling through his nose.
Then, quietly, he admitted, “Yeah.”
Joe grinned. “Knew it.”
Mike shook his head, watching as Glen tugged Gabby back toward the game, their hands brushing as they walked.
“She’s all grown up, Joe.”
Joe nodded, his voice softer this time. “Yeah. She is.”
And as much as it ached in a way Mike wasn’t sure he was ready for, he also knew she was happy. And at the end of the day, wasn’t that what mattered most?
The football game had finally settled into easy conversation, the competitive energy fading into the comfortable hum of a warm Texas night.
Mike glanced at his watch, exhaling. “Alright, we should probably head out.”
Joe stretched, rolling his shoulders. “Yeah, wouldn’t want the old man to get too cranky.”
Mike shot him a look but didn’t argue. As they stood from their seats, Glen Sr. stepped forward, already reaching for the bourbon bottle on the table.
“Well, since you both held your own tonight,” he said, pouring a slow sip into his glass, “I’d say y’all are welcome back for another round tomorrow.”
Mike raised an eyebrow. “That an invitation?”
Glen Sr. smirked. “More of a challenge.”
Joe grinned. “Now that’s something we can’t turn down.”
Mike huffed, but there was no real protest behind it. “Fine. But don’t water it down just ‘cause I’m the new guy.”
Glen Sr. chuckled. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
As they stepped toward the truck, Mike paused, turning to Glen.
For a second, it felt like a test all over again. Then Mike looked him in the eye, his voice calm, steady. “Take care of her.”
Glen didn’t hesitate. “I will.”
And Mike must’ve believed him, because he gave a slow nod before turning to get in the truck. Glen stood there, watching the taillights disappear down the gravel road, only letting out a breath once they were gone.
Glen exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck. “I think that went okay.”
Gabby let out a laugh, stepping up to him, wrapping her arms around his waist.
“Yeah,” she murmured against his chest. “I think it did.”
Glen draped his arms over her shoulders, pressing his chin lightly to the top of her head, holding her close.
“So,” he said, voice teasing now, “does this mean your dad actually likes me? Or is he just tolerating me.”
Gabby pulled back just enough to grin up at him. “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”
Glen smirked. “Guess I’ll just have to keep winning him over, then.”
Gabby shook her head, laughing softly.

Two young adults were sat in silence in one of the rooms of the palace, an owl sat in the windowsill, ready to both intervene, and relay information to her mentee and friend, and his wife. For an hour neither spoke, not knowing what to say, but time was ticking as guests of the palace trickled in, coming from far and wide for the celebration.
Awkwardly, Ónoma started the conversation. “So, you like me.”
“You don’t have to sound so disappointed about it.” Telemachus answered, somewhat angrily.
“I am disappointed though.” She stopped him from interrupting her. “It’s not because you are not good enough or anything, I just thought that, for once, I wasn’t just a woman, a potential partner to someone. I thought it was just friendship, true friendship, but now I don’t know.” She trailed off, not knowing how to continue.
“We are friends, you are more than just some girl, that’s why I like you.” Telemachus started, but Ónoma cut him off.
“I don’t know if I can trust your intentions. You are the greatest, sweetest, most thoughtful friend I’ve ever had, but I can no longer tell if that’s because of who you are, or if it is because you wanted something more from me.” She explained. “And it sucks, because I don’t want to paint you as some manipulative mastermind, but my mind can’t help but wonder. It’s not far-fetched either, because your father is a known wordsmith and you’ve been taken under Lady Athena’s wings as well.” She paused. “I don’t want to hurt you by suggesting that you could’ve done that, but you must understand why I might think that.”
The prince was silent, speechless even. Matters of the heart are truly the greatest challenge one can face. After a long pause he came to a conclusion. “Perhaps it’s best if I keep my distance for a while, to get over it, you know.”
“Or we could find you a nice princess tonight.” She offered hopefully. Both of them knew Telemachus’ solution was the best one, but neither wanted to go without the other. Through the years they’d developed an almost co-dependency.
“It’s worth a try.” He replied, taking her hand and holding it to his chest for a moment. It only broke his heart to hear her suggest considering other women, but for now, with her hand near his heart, it ached a little less.
When the two friends got to the main hall, the party was already in full swing. Ónoma felt entirely out of place amongst the royals and nobles in attendance. She spotted Odysseus talking animatedly with a man she assumed to be Diomedes of Argos, king Nestor was also easily recognizable, his age a dead giveaway, but aside from that she could not conclude who any of these people were.
Most of the man’s comrades from the Trojan war were no longer amongst the living, so she wondered if he himself even knew these people, or if this party was more strategic than she’d first thought. An opportunity of diplomacy, under the guise of celebration. The man had relied on Xenia a lot during his journey.
The last people to arrive were easy to recognize, Helen’s beauty was easily recognizable, and Menelaus was, well, Menelaus. He was not unpleasant, but there was something off about him. At least he wasn’t his brother, Ónoma would not be surprised if Agamemnon had a spot in Tartarus. All that she’d heard about the man was rather unpleasant.
The celebration had gone by surprisingly well; Ónoma had had a discussion with king Nestor, the man truly had learned a lot in his long life and had some meaningful insight in certain things. Diomedes had approached her, asking about her role in fighting off the suitors commended her bravery. She’d let the sexist undertones slide, not wanting to get in trouble with him, but she’d appreciated the praise none the less.
Menelaus had mistaken her for a palace slave, and she’d awkwardly redirected him to the servants. She did not receive an apology from him, but his wife had been pleasant enough. Their daughter had been even nicer, Hermione had been able to marry the man she wanted to after the passing of Neoptolemus and had been thriving ever since. After speaking about her with Telemachus, however, she learned that she was not a fan of the girl, with what she’d tried to do to Andromache.
Polycaste had been incredibly pleasant company. She’d ended up talking of her troubles with the daughter of Nestor, leaving out some details, but the girl had had interesting views. Her father’s wisdom had clearly rubbed off on her. Perhaps she’d be a good match for Telemachus, the two of them seemed to get along quite well.
Even more surprising had been the actions of the Ithacan king, he’d apologized to her and had proceeded to boast about her to the other attendants; how she’d defended his wife, gaining the aid of a God in doing so, how she was vital to the workflow of the island and of her duties in the temple. Perhaps this was his attempt at making things right after his previous actions, but Ónoma did not appreciate all the attention, even if she recognized that he had good intentions.
Telemachus did not appreciate the attention his friend was getting either, sure he’d promised not to act on his feelings, but that didn’t mean they no longer existed. Competing with a God was bad enough, now there were other princes, even kings vying for her attention. not that she showed interest.
At the end of the night Ónoma had danced more than she ever had before, being unable to refuse any of the men who’d asked because of their status. She all but ran home the second she was able to do so. she was dizzy and exhausted and promptly passed out the second her head hit the pillow, still wearing the fancy clothes and jewellery.

so, after this phase of depression, i am back at too many ideas at once and getting overwhelmed by all of it bc i cant do it all and dont know how to decide which one to focus on or which ones actually good and not just a brainfart
(so, some more botw2/totk rewritten ideas-
mostly text but i am unsure what to actually work on and draw or if its even any good, so id be very happy to hear your opinion on some of this qoq)
-was thinking about designing the sonau even though they might not show up physically, to keep their mystery alive, but i am playing with the idea of a dead one preserved in crystal in a larger cave, perhaps their last stronghold, i like the thought of them being rather small monkey like creatures with long tails that end in a light fern looking thing
--been also thinking more about the ancient queen zeldas and ganondorfs relationship bc i feel its compelling for them to have had a much more personal grudge agaisnt each other than i previously planned, gives more weight to everything-
though it is mostly background stuff that is not directly shown in the game, except for environmental storytelling -which botw was pretty good at- and diary entries you can discover (perhaps finding it and then telling riju and a gerudo researcher about it since it would be in ancient script zelda hadnt encountered before?), current thought was to have there be a secret lair that one of ganondorfs daughters used to live in after the sealing disaster sent both kingdoms into conflict, and with their mother dying in battle the eldest daughter would surrender and agree to whatever the princess of hyrule demanded, while the younger one would not bow down and those that followed her split off to live in the gerudo highlands, like another reoccuring theme with this being the prescursor to what happens with the shiekah and yiga later- of those are none left by this time (or should there?) and the diary of the younger daughter talks about her fathers secret hideout having being sealed shut as a sign of respect- it is inaccessible due to the structures beign damaged, but its serving as a hint there will be more; it will be made accessible after the mid game fight with ganondorf, in which you see the scene of the sealing, and he changes his position from hyrule castle that fell into the underground to the innards of the plateau- that being the final dungeon- in his room, might also be a part of his diary, at least from his younger days, and a bracelet of obviously hyrulian origin, which is meant to imply-
that the ancient queen zelda and him were in love once when they were both younger, though neither really acted on it (noble families pressures and conflictions yippie) until it was decided she would be married to a young knight of a noble hyrulian family, as it had been per tradition, after which they would not be able to visit each other anymore in the way they sued to as her father wanted her to prepare to take the throne and was way more strict than before, with one last meeting in that secret chamber and her leaving a bracelet there as a gift-
now heres the problem i ran into, that they had feelings for each other and used to be very close, as well as both having their own families later on is pretty solid and i want to keep all that but i also randomly thought about weaving the drama further (in that noble families kind of way especially, though again this would only be mentioned in his diary entry from the secret room you unlock, and since his younger daughter doesnt mention anything at all save for makign a point about not rummaging through her late fathers things out of her deep respect for him, its pretty clear she didnt know and neither did anyone else except for ganondorf himself and perhaps his mothers, this is all meant to make all of these characters have more depth even with getting little to literal no screentime, not to be a big focus)- so there was the stray idea of the ancient queen having a daughter 'just' after being married to that hyrulian knight.. and it being obviously not his, but gerudo, as gerudo traits are rather dominant(i think?) and the knight and ganondorf look nothing alike, so to avoid any sort of royal disaster that daughter would be secretly given to ganondorf to raise instead (which he would gladly do), and the official story being it was stillborn (the whole thing being worked out by a few maids sworn loyally to their queen .. im torn about the queen herself knowing or not tbh or if that even matters in the grand scheme of things (though i do like the idea of her knowing but acting like it is nothing to live up to being a wise and proud queen now thats shes under that pressure, she would change alot during her time of reign, going from that more typical unsure of herself but trying her best princess to a self confident cold and calculating queen, maybe he could even make a short remark about it), again this is still just vaguely implied background details most wouldnt even find out about, i just .. like to think about the background of things that make sense and give more weight to it all but arent what it revolves around and its neither essential to know, might as well be one of those things people would likely hear about in youtube videos)
i didnt find or dont know if theres any rule that princess zelda cant have siblings (i think she had a brother once but idk that may be different about sisters is the question) bc ganondorfs older daughter then not awakening any special (zelda reserved) powers could be simply bc she wasnt trained to do so (perhaps she would be able to hear things like zeldas often do but that too being only mentioned offhand) and him just not putting any focus on royal hyrulian traditions, it could be a secret rite too and honestly .. why would he try to train her to be the traditional princess of hyrule, awakening powers that are reserved for the hyrulian royals would make everything go haywire in terms of the secret about her mother, though im worried it would seem like her being gerudo is seen as 'tainted' instead, like she isnt a 'real' or 'pure' zelda and that being the reason, which somethign i do not like at all
either way that second part is purely an idea that i am 50/50 about using since its really not a big deal in the end and ultimately doesnt change much except make their relationship a bit more messier
---ahem, anyway, i also decided i wanted to model most sky islands after this one photo in my collection since it looks cool and would make sense to have these island be worn down by constant winds
---- i also want to flood the tabantha canyon with the forgotten temple and considered actually breaking of some pieces of landmass, like it is now a giant island, imagine akkala a kilometer away from the mainland for example, it wouldnt inherently change much about the structure but it would make it feel alot more different and provide good ground for different kinds of interactions since the people there would need to adjust to that, you can melt ice around the riot region easier than you can reattach a broken off giant piece of land after all
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#ganondoodles rewrites totk#i have the feeling the older daughter of ganondorf being also the queen first child is a brainfart rather than a good idea#but i await your judgement#theres likely more ideas i just simply forgot to add right now but are definitely also in my head here#mayb thats why it feels like it wants to explode#as i am currently also having a migraine#and in this kind of situation of thinking about too many things at once and too many ideas#i often think about dumb stuff#but you are well used to reading stuff getting posted on this blog so!#*hits post*

would you be able to write something with little April with Ron caring for her? maybe April is big at first but for some reason regresses involuntarily whilst with Ron? they're already my favourite autistic father daughter duo on tv and id love to see what you thing would be the same or different about their relationship when April is regressed :)
Little!April x Cg!Ron - Together
Regressuary day 4 … yes it’s early, i meant to save this as a draft but accidentally posted it instead whoopsie
Word count: 813
——————————
Everyone in the parks department knew about April’s regression. It was almost impossible to keep it hidden when they spent everyday together and April could be triggered into regressing at the smallest of upsets. However despite it being widely known knowledge, few were actually let into the small circle of people April allowed to care for her when little. This wasn’t because she disliked any of her coworkers more than others, it was simply that little April could be quite emotional and it required a certain amount of patience to handle. This meant that while Leslie and Ann spent a great deal of time with little April, Ron had rarely encountered the girl in her regressed state.
Ron and April were up late, organising fliers for Leslie’s campaign. Usually neither of them were the sort of people you’d expect to find up late in the office working on anything government related but Leslie Knope did bring out the best in everyone. “How many more to go? Ben wants to know when to come pick me up since Andy laked my car.” April asked, growing tired and fidgety as the hours passed.
“50,” Ron replied with a huff. He’d much rather be at home eating a stake right now. “About an hour if we don’t stop.” April nodded, looking down at her hands to avoid Ron’s eyes. It was well past her bedtime and the tiredness sneaking over her was loosening her grip on her adult headspace.
They continued to work at a steady pace, silence engulfing the room - not unusual for the two who found comfort in each other's lack of need for small talk. The silence did however make April’s soft whines and huffs impossible to miss when she finally slipped into her regression. Ron looked up from the paper he was folding, a look of confusion gracing his gruff features. “April? You alright?” He asked, characteristic stoicism in his voice. April glanced up, eyes wide like a deer caught in headlights.
“Fine,” she mumbled, though her voice came out wobblier and more petulant than she’d intended. Ron quirked a disbelieving eyebrow at the younger girl.
“You don't look fine,” he frowned, observing the girl's shifty stature. “You know how I feel about lying.”
April huffed, stomping her foot against the carpeted office floor. She didn’t want to tell Ron she was feeling small because she didn’t want him to see her so vulnerable. “Feel small,” she admitted crossly, not knowing whether it was worse for him to think she was weak or a liar. His face softened at the admission, though some hesitancy crept across his features.
“That’s what’s bothering you?” He questioned, having expected something much worse and far less easily manageable to be at play. April nodded. Ron was the first to admit he wasn’t the best with kids, and he was nervous to take care of April for the first time, but if he had to take care of anyone he’d want it to be her. “That’s nothing to get all worked up over, do you have your stuff in your desk drawer?” He asked. April nodded and left Ron’s office to go retrieve her pacifier and stuffed puppy dog from her desk. While she was gone Ron cleared away the rest of the fliers, Leslie wouldn’t mind finishing them up tomorrow. “Come here kiddo,” he smiled fondly as April returned to the room. He pushed his chair back from the desk so April could climb onto his lap. He wasn’t entirely sure what he was doing but the kid seemed exhausted and there wasn’t exactly anywhere more comfortable to take a nap in the office. “Is Ben still coming to pick you up?” Ron asked quietly, not wanting to overwhelm her with his voice. April nodded,
“In half an hour.”
Half an hour, Ron could do that. He held her for a while, feeling her body relax into his grasp, he couldn’t admit how comforting he found it. Eventually April squirmed and whined, “I’m bored. Can I have a story?” Ron thought for a moment, what kind of story could he tell a kid? Certainly none of the books he’d read recently.
Ron ended up making up a story for April, about a little fruit bat who lived in a strong and sturdy tree and made friends with pirates and fairies. April giggled and gasped as he exclaimed the silly twists and turns until eventually they heard Ben entering the department.
“Dada!” April exclaimed, shuffling off Ron’s lap.
“Hello my little bat,” Ben cooed, hugging her tightly. “Have you been good for Ron?” April nodded eagerly.
“Grandpa told me a silly story ‘n he used lots and lots of voices!” She exclaimed. Ron chuckled heavily, feigning an offended look to Ben when April referred to him as ‘grandpa’ but deep down he was honoured by the name.

Relationship: James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes x Reader
Fandom: Marvel
Request: No
Warnings: Fluff
Word Count: 861
Main Masterlist: Here
Marvel Masterlist: Here
Summary: Bucky was a skirt chaser in the 40’s; this is just a fact. Bet you never heard about this tale from the era though.
Consider Donating: Here
1942
You would think that someone as smooth and cool as Bucky would have trouble getting a date. He had been with plenty of dames, charmed dozens of ladies. So why was he having such a hard time with this one girl?
This one girl in question; Rebecca’s totally swinging friend. There was a major problem with it too. Rebecca refused to help him land a date with her because she was her friend. Any time she would come by their apartment, he tried to be there to welcome her in.
Sometimes he thought that she was interested in him. If Bucky let her into the apartment to hang out with Rebecca, she would brush her hand across his chest as she passed. When he would walk her and Rebecca to the door after they were done, she would press a kiss to his cheek.
James would offer to walk her home, talking the entire four blocks back. If he saw her in town, he would offer to hold her shopping, or walk her around. Bucky would just so happen to find out her shift at the diner that she worked at and would bring her flowers on her birthday.
And each time, he thought that this might be his chance. This might be the time where he could ask her out. But then, the other instances happen. She would ignore him when she came in, going straight to Rebecca’s room and promptly shutting the door. Other times, if he offered to walk with her and hold her shopping, she told him that she was just about to head home anyways, or that she really did not have much to carry.
It was these times Bucky questioned whether or not she was as into him as he was into her. Because each time that he thought she was, and was about to ask her on a date, something would happen to disparage that. He just could not take it much more. Which is why he was currently on his way to her apartment that he had walked her home to a hundred times before with flowers in his hands, and an open heart.
Knocking on the door, Barnes waited patiently for it to open. Instead of her, it was her dad. A big military man that stood eye to eye with the boy. As steady as he could, Bucky started. “Hello, sir. My name is James “Bucky” Barnes. Is your daughter home?”
“What if she is? What do you want?” The squinting of the father’s eyes, Bucky had come to know with his experience, was rarely a good sign.
“Well, um… I want to take her out on a date, sir.” He stated, subconsciously straightening his back, and pushing his shoulder behind him.
“You’re the Rebeccas’s older brother, right?” He said it like he was interrogating him.
“Yes sir.” Bucky stated, feeling the heat a bit.
“Daddy, what’s going on?” Her sweet voice drifted into the room. Coming out from her bedroom, she wore a red button down top with cap sleeves, and a matching red skirt. Her cardigan on top was black, but covered in red and pink hearts knitted throughout. Safe to say, Bucky was glad her father spoke first because he was speechless.
“This young man has come to ask you on a date.”
“Bucky?” She asked, finally noticing who was standing there.
Shaking his head, James cleared his thoughts. “I was hoping that I might be able to take you for a walk through the park, maybe some ice cream. I’m aware it’s too short of notice for the dance hall tonight but I figured, this would be the next best thing.”
As she walked closer, he could smell her perfume more clearly. It was such a beautifully clean scent, with just the barest hint of vanilla. Bucky struggled to keep his wits about him as he watched her.
“You brought those for me?” She pointed at the small bouquet in his hands. It was not much, but at least something.
“Of course. Pretty flowers for a pretty lady.” Bucky smirked, passing them over. Meanwhile, her dad stood there with a sour look on his face. Noticing this, he retreated just a bit after passing the flowers, while she put her hand on his shoulder gently.
“Daddy, don’t scare him. Bucky is a gentleman. He’s Becca’s big brother. If you should trust anyone with my safety for an evening, it’s Bucky.” The way she advocated for him nearly made the man blush. “Let me go put these in water and then we can go.”
After she left, her father leveled the younger man with a look, and held out his hand. Once Barnes had slipped his into the shake, her father gripped tight, and shook hard. “Treat her right, or I make sure that you have to move out of town.”
Feeling thoroughly terrified, but trying not to show it, Bucky nodded. “Yes, sir. Understood.”
“Ready to go, Bucky?” Coming back in, she had also grabbed her purse on the way. Released from the handshake with her father, James held out his arm towards her.
“After you.”

The infatuated look she is giving him truly is something. It's humorous to think that this is the type of reaction the Prince had been expecting from everyone during his stint in the King's shoes. So frustrated when he didn't get it, while simultaneously being unable to act accordingly for it. But anyway, Midas offers his arm to Price and leads the way to his office.
It would be a lie for Midas to say he doesn't find her admiration endearing. Flattering, even. He's used to the way some show their attraction to him after just meeting; lingering glances or touches, many drinks sent his way on the rare occasion he'd go out, charming and horrendous pick-up lines alike. The starry eyes of a fan, though? Still something of a new experience. It reminds him of his first chance encounter with Evie before the island changed, when she'd asked for his autograph. He hadn't hated it then, either.
Less easy to take in stride are all of Price's questions. With so many fired all at once, he'd laugh if it weren't for how carefully he'll have to tread around the answers. Though he does keep an amused smile.
"My daughter made my gauntlet for me." He flexes the fingers of his feux arm, and as the joints clink, he processes her words and realizes that her earlier compliment was about it rather than his curse. It also dawns on him that everything she knows about him is from the legend, which would make any mention of a daughter rather...weighty.
"My second daughter," he clarifies, "Her name is Jules. She's incredibly skilled when it comes to all things mechanical, and in general one of the most intelligent people I know. Beautiful, too, but I digress, lest I start to sound like a pageant parent. She lives up the zipline, and I'm sure she'd be happy to talk about her work with you."
The next questions are tougher, "Your sister is around. Quite the activist, that one. It seems Hope's always busy with island goings on. As for Montague, I'm afraid you won't be able to meet him. He's..not here." He knows there will be more questions that follow, and fills the silence quickly, "I'm actually not certain where he is. He's a busy man, hard to pin down these days."
The two of them reach his office, and he opens the door for her while he answers the last question, "I'm also not certain if you--my Val, has chain earrings. I know they have quite the collection of jewelry, though. I'm sure you'll find something you like. If not, it's hardly any trouble for me to get a pair for you."
On one side of his office, there are four cabinets. They are like the usual filing-type in appearance, except the metal they are made from appears to be thicker, and each has a little screen where a traditional lock would be.
Midas steps over to the farthest right, middle drawer and quickly taps a pattern-code into the screen before it slides open. Inside is about a dozen phones in solid blacks, reds, and a couple gold. There are a few different models, all slotted into standing chargers.
He only has so many extra now because of the aluminum incident. He'd blown through such a number during that blasted curse (and Kado's goading) that he thought keeping a handful on deck would be useful.
He steps over to his desk then to give her room to browse the different models, "They won't be as customized as I'm sure you'd like, but you're free to keep any of those."
"Is there a specific reason for chains?" He asks, hoping to keep more questions about Montague or Hope at bay for now, "For your earrings, I mean."
At the door to where the cursed Valeria had been brought, Midas gave one last nod to Brutus before taking a quick breath. He knocked twice before opening the door and stepping inside.
The sight of them was...stressful. Valeria was indeed around 20. The differences in her appearance almost as jarring as he'd imagined the Prince had been to everyone, with a smaller frame, her hair black, red underneath not quite her natural color, and much darker makeup than Midas saw Valeria wear these days. Skye's skinny jeans on them would be humorous under different circumstances.
He put a polite smile of his face despite the worry nagging at his core, not knowing exactly what to expect from the younger version of the person he'd come to adore.
"Hello, Miss Price. I apologize for the confusion you must be feeling." He said with a short bow, hands behind his back, "I am Midas, it's a pleasure to meet you."
He left out his royal title on purpose, thinking it might bring about a line of questions. Though, it might be a moot point with the crown sitting in his hair. And his armor. And the gold gauntlet. And the gold on his damn hand that he regretted not keeping behind his back now.
"This is my yacht, we call her The Marigold. The man who showed you to this room, Brutus? He brought me to speak with you. Said you were...expecting a photoshoot?"
@king-midas-fortnite
Between the time of being left in the room and Midas arriving Valeria had found herself entertained enough trying to guess the passcode of the phone she'd found in her pocket. It was nice, with a heavy black case and some odd symbol on the back that she almost recognized.
The man on the lockscreen, however, was a complete stranger to her. He looked nice despite the scars over one of his eyes which she decided he pulled off well.
Idly she wondered if he was some model she didn't know yet.
Leaning back into the couch and kicking her feet to stave off her boredom she continued to make up an entire life for a man she only had a singular image of. Valeria decided he was a model, an older one of course but that's not uncommon for male models, and he probably did a lot with high class attire. Anything but shades unless it was a summer shoot and they were sitting on his hairline rather than his actual face.
She shifts again to sit back up, nail tapping on the screen to keep it from going dark, just in time for Midas to knock and enter.
"Oh thank gods, like, where the HELL am I?" Yet, she doesn't even bother to actually look at him while he talks.
At least until he says his name and she perks up instantly. Valeria's head whips to look at him, flaming embers flying off of her hair and fortunately cooling before scattering across the couch.
He continues to talk and all she can do is stare owlishly at him as she takes in every feature from his face to the crown and his hand.
His hand.
"No way," Her words came out more like a gasp of awe as she slowly stood up, eyes sparkling with curiosity and literal sparks as the relic around her neck clinks against the gold bands. "Brutus? Is that really-" A laugh bubbles out of her mouth and she sheepishly tries to cover her mouth. "No, no I'm sorry, um, oh wow."
Valeria takes a moment to try and compose herself but it's clear she has a very specific question in mind.
"Like, I had assumed it was a shoot but now I have no clue what's going on but like, you're," She clenches and unclenches her fists as if trying to contain herself. More flames flutter from her hair as she talks.
"I can tell, oh my gods, you're The Midas aren't you? Not, not a model dressed up for some tattoo shoot right?"

mmm essay about sally and kid gort in the tags (cw for child abuse, mentions of suicide, animal cruelty and a murder attempt. i always hope i don’t have to say this but just in case: i don’t excuse or condone any of her or gort’s behaviour at all.) this is literally not even touching upon everything i have to say because i hit the fucking tag limit lmao. NOBODY READ IT’S BAD BRAINSTORMING I JUST NEEDED TO GET IT OUT SOMEHOW
#thinkin too much about gortie side characters again.#sally this time and why she specifically talks about him the way she does#like dravo is obviously still shitty but to me he was. ‘just ‘neglectful#while sally actively hated and even felt terrorised by her own child#like. it’s not like i don’t understand her at all.#imagine you and your love don’t have much besides each other and your shop and you get pregnant and ready to raise a child#only for it to not be a child he didn’t and doesn’t cry ever and he learns everything so much sooner than most but then he never calls you#his parents and it’s not just a petty thing kids do sometimes you feel that he doesn’t see you as family and the worst part is that you#agree deep down#and as he gets older he doesn’t have any friends and actively rejects the notion of the entire concept#but then as time passes you hear about how he has entire groups of children following him and then several of them commit suicide#and that thing coming to sit with you and dravo at the dinner table says that he did what you did last week when the axe to chop wood broke#and you discarded it and got a new one#and he has these habits of ripping out flowers and making sure that they don’t regrow#and then you hear rumours about a friend’s daughter’s cat disappearing and think nothing of it#until you visit his tree house a month later and find a declawed cat and birds with clipped wings and crushed bugs that he keeps fondly#and then you see him with other children and they don’t know and his face is different and body language is entirely different#and were it not for the fact that you know better you would never see anything but a normal child#and you know that you are one who painstakingly brought this thing that should not be into the world and so you decide to end it all one da#and go to him as he’s asleep with the knife shaking in your hand#but he cries when you’re above him! screams at the top of his lungs!#so you beg for forgiveness even though you don’t deserve it through tears but as soon as the knife is put away you see the act drop and fee#his clever fingers having twisted your brain inside and out and you know that you can do nothing#and so the opportunity arises to at least remove him out of your life if not everyone’s lives and you take it immediately.#but you heard him talk. how he will close his fist around the world one day. and you know that it is not a matter of if but when.#like. imagine that. jesus dude.#like i hc her as someone that is messy and does not know a lot about life and she certainly wouldn’t have been a good mother but the love#or at least desire to love is there somewhere. and believing that having a child is really the only somewhat meaningful thing she can do#with her life. she’s not some hero or rich or anything of note. so there’s a lot obligation and not genuine desire for family here.#but she never really got the chance to be an actual mother in the first place so. who knows what that might have looked like

ash and s.ugiura do get engaged someday, and it's always so heartwarming thinking about s.ugiura visiting his sister before he pops the question. him by her grave with a soft smile on his face, telling her about how he's never been happier, how he knows that this girl is his soulmate.
back when she was alive, she had that line about how sometimes she worries about her little bro. but she doesn't have to worry anymore. he's so happy.
#i just know she's so proud of him#he says that he was really different in the past. his sister's bf described him as very shy and quiet#and he calls himself when he was a teenager a 'shut-in fuckup'#he's come so far and he's been through so much and I'm just so proud of him#ash does actually have his sister's blessing though! in the first game remember that scene when they all see her ghost because they just#fell out of a building and are concussed out of their minds? instead of seeing flashbacks of her like y.agami and s.ugiura#ash gets to talk to her for a bit. his sister says that she trusts Ash and that she knows her brother has chosen well#we didn't know his sister for long but she's so important to me. she's a big part of our ship even if she passed years before ash and#s.ugiura started to date. they name their daughter after her and their daughter is quite a bit like her actually ajdjajs#i just have so many thoughts about that part of the first game. everything with his sister and her boyfriend just stuck with me#it's such a tragic tale#but there's a lot of comfort in knowing that she approves of their relationship and that she's watching over them#and there's no doubt in my mind that she's so fucking proud of her little brother#i did find a post about how in the second game s.ugiura is already older that his sister ever got to be and i just went '.. oh. ouch. ouch'#just some sleepy rambles since i think about that a lot. the first time they visit her grave together is a really big moment in their#relationship because s.ugiura gets to introduce the two most important people in his life to each other. ok I'm going to bed now gn fr lol#ash rambles 💚#mask off 🎭

[Arcane preference]reacting to their s/o calling them husband/wife for the first time
I’ve finished the first chapter of the long fic about Universe 7 (Anytime it rains). As soon as my second beta reader gives me the okay, I’ll post it. While I wait, I’ve written the first headcanon (out of three I’m definitely planning to write and post in the next few days) and picked up the drawing of Steb I’d left unfinished. I’m slow, as usual, but English isn’t my first language, and I’m juggling a lot of things at once. Enjoy!
socials: | INPRNT | | Tip Jar | | X | | BlueSky | | Ao3 | poster: | Jayce poster | | Silco poster | |Silco +self insert poster 1| | Steb poster | if you want to read the fluff longfic with vander and his happy family + Silco x reader you can find it here! ↠ Masterlist
Jayce:
-This man is planning to put a ring on your finger as soon as possible, okay? -Between the academy, public appearances, and both theoretical and practical studies, there isn’t a single moment when he’s really in the right mindset to bring up the topic -The worst part is that, deep down, he’s terrified of putting pressure on you -That’s why, the first time he hears you refer to him as “my husband” during a gala with noble families, he almost chokes -He has to gather all his strength not to grab the interlocutor by the shoulders and ask if they also heard you say that word -He’ll try to keep his composure, maybe responding to your remark with, “Yes, exactly. Her husband really did say/do/design that.”
Viktor:
-It’s not a thought he’s ever really entertained; it never crossed his mind -Part of it is that science is his priority, and part of it is that marriage doesn’t seem like something meant for people like him, -The first time you call him “your husband”, that thought suddenly becomes real in his head, and he can’t help but lean against a wall and wait for the other person to leave -“So, I’m your husband now, huh? Mmm… I don’t mind, a bit pretentious, though…” he jokes, making you roll your eyes -Now, more than ever, he has no idea what to do. He’ll give you a bronze ring from a machine he’s building -“Until I can get one worthy of you.”
Ekko:
-Yes -That’s it -The end -Okay, seriously. The idea of being certain that something will last forever is probably his greatest wish -The first time you call him your husband, he doesn’t see it coming -“Wait, you’re married?” -“I was talking about you, Ekko.” -The moment you say it, he points to his chest, you see his lip tremble slightly, and his eyes grow shinier -He won’t stop talking about it for a week, and at least once a day, he’ll ask if you still want to marry him, if you’re sure, if you love him -No rings before S2; the promise is made by drawing something for each other on your masks and clothes -After S2, he still can’t afford a ring, but now that life is more stable, he can start thinking about a more traditional gift, like a piece of jewelry
Vander:
-This man is ravenous for any family role you might offer him—fiancé, father, husband. Anything goes -The first time you call him “husband”, he plays it cool but will seize the first opportunity to return the favor by telling a customer you’re married -As soon as he can, he’ll squeeze your hand, even under the counter -The idea of being married and having a complete family is everything he’s ever wanted -He won’t stop calling you “my beautiful wife/husband” from that moment on.
-You said it first; you can’t take it back. Now you have to get married
Silco (old man):
-This man’s only sin is loving too much, but I’ll save that reflection for another post -Having no ties other than his illegitimate daughter doesn’t make him someone who’s particularly keen on formalities -The first time you call him “your husband” is in front of Sevika, and he slowly turns to look at you, while she slowly turns to look at him -“Did I... miss something?” Sevika asks, but he doesn’t reply, still perplexed, before glancing at her and saying, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” -He’s relieved but doesn’t show it. He can’t afford to just yet -As soon as he confirms you were serious, your name will be flamboyantly forgotten—he’ll constantly refer to you as “my wife/husband”
Silco (young):
-The man who survives on love -The first time you call him your husband is in front of Vander, and while Vander bursts out laughing, Silco chokes on his drink -“Are you serious?” He’s so happy that his pale iris are completely swallowed by his dilated pupils -He grabs a pen and draws a ring around your finger -To his credit, he works in a mine, so it’s hard to do better than that, but it becomes the goal that keeps him going -Completely focused on family, the future, and anything that sees the two of you together and happy
Steb:
-The first time you call him your husband is at a dinner among enforcer families, and being mute doesn’t stop him from stealing the spotlight -He whips around, blinking slowly with only his third eyelid in a gesture of confusion -When he’s 100% sure he understood what you said, his eyes widen, the small membranes under his eyes flutter madly, and even the barely visible gills near his jaw gasp for a moment -Someone says, “I didn’t know you were married,” and he immediately nods enthusiastically, not giving you time to take it back -Within 48 hours, he’ll have the ring ready
Jinx:
-The first time you call her “your wife”, she freezes -“What did you just call me?” -She’s used to being a little sister, a big sister, a daughter—she’d never thought she could be a wife. Family ties aren’t chosen, but the idea that someone would want her in their life so much they’d marry her feels incredible -“You want to marry me? Really? Why?” -She bursts into tears, and it’ll take at least 24 hours of cuddling in bed to calm her down -After that, she’ll run to her father to announce that she’s now a married woman
Vi:
-She might not be Silco and/or Vander’s blood daughter, but she’s inherited their deep desire for family -From her family’s tragic fate to Vander’s, she’s always seen family as the ultimate aspiration -When you call her “your wife” for the first time, she doesn’t notice right away, but a full minute later, she whirls around to look at you, as if to ask for confirmation -“Say it again.” -“...You need to buy bread?” -“No, all of it.” -“My wife needs to go buy bread.” -“Again.”
-"My... wife?"
-"Again"
Caitlyn:
-Has she thought about it? Yes -Was she planning to act on it? Not exactly -Caitlyn struggles with emotions and feelings, which is why she hesitates and takes her time -But when you first call her “your wife”, her brain completely shuts off—she just stares at you, unable to hear a single word being said -If you or someone else asks her a question, she’ll snap out of it and respond, -“My wife/husband said everything.” Even if it makes no sense as an answer, making you laugh and leaving the other person baffled
Mel:
-Not a single flicker of surprise—the first time you call her “your wife”, she remains completely composed -“So, I’m your wife?” she asks as soon as you’re in private, approaching you like a feline. You can almost hear the purr in her voice -She’s amused but also intrigued by whatever game you’re playing -The idea of marriage is complicated for her—on one hand, it feels like it would limit her freedom to act, while on the other, unresolved family issues seem to devour her at the mere thought of starting a new cycle -She’ll tell you to go ahead, to get married, but she’ll also ask for time -In the meantime, though, she’ll start using the term “husband/wife” with you—she likes the way it rolls off her tongue
Sevika:
-Between the work she does, the environment she lives in, and all the interesting circumstances of her life, marriage has never been on her radar -Not to mention that in Zaun, it’s not exactly a common practice—people just move in together and build families when they can, without much fuss over formalities or bureaucracy -The first time it happens, she’s playing cards with the other goons, and you casually ask if “your wife is winning” -Her first reaction isn’t even hers—it’s the others’. Dustin, the blond goon with the lazy eye, almost starts crying, embarrassing her -Don’t worry, she’ll make you pay for it at home -She won’t ask to formalize anything, but in true Zaunite fashion, she’ll consider you married, plain and simple
