I adore just how casually Bruce thwarts assassination attempts in his civilian persona it’s beautiful.

With that being said…

Danny has been running from the GIW in Gotham for a week now but after a few days there’s been a pattern. Every time he gets surrounded by GIW goons, out of absolutely nowhere appears the bumbling billionaire philanthropist that gets in the way just enough for him to escape. It took a few run ins with the man but now Danny isn’t quite so sure these appearances in front of the GIW are unintentional.

Wayne Family Adventures literally had 2 entire seasons worth of healthy dad Bruce who sits down and talks with his kids. He brought Jason down from a nervous breakdown. He got Damian a dog. He told Tim that it's Batman who looks out for Robin. He felt incredible guilt over missing even one of Cass' recitals. He plays with the kids, he takes care of them, he talks with them about family and what they mean to him. He puts in the work.

And yet we still have people coming out of the woodworks to claim that being an asshole is "integral to his character" the one time he says fuckshit to the kids.

Look I came from from multiple abusive households (yeah that's right I'm pulling this card). I know what that looks like. This ain't it. What Bruce said is fucked up, no doubt about it. But this is after potentially years of kindness and heartfelt discussions. Saying something fucked after all that healthy behavior isn't abuse, it's a call for help. And that's what the kids are trying to do. He's scared. He even admitted to Damian that none of it matters as long as they're safe.

This arc isn't to point and go "oh look at how horrible Batman is and how he treats his family". It's showing how grief and trauma can twist the people you love into something that hurts, and the effort and pain needed on both sides to fix that (like in the Jason episode, how he lost control and almost hurt Dick and then told them to take care of Bruce). Keeping this idea that violence and abuse is integral to Batman and his relationships is the same mentality that has kept main timeline Bruce in that behavior for the last god-knows-how-long.

Had John disconnected him? He knew John’s sense of humor wasn’t the lightest, especially after Newcastle drove them all a bit insane, but that felt too far even for him. Nah, he’d probably just gotten himself a bit lost in the wave of energy he’d experienced in the Tongues of Fire network and was accidentally looking for his body in the wrong spot.

He pulled himself back and let his mental connection to the digital world expand outward, probing the rest of the machine for the connection. He knew he was in the right system, so as long as he looked thoroughly he’d definitely fi—

Everything flashed a surge of blinding white and then was replaced by pure darkness. He thought he screamed, but he couldn’t hear his own voice. Couldn’t even feel his own thoughts. Trapped in one single instant that stretched for indeterminable eons. Then, eventually (or was it immediately?), awareness began to trickle back.

He was still in the computer, though it felt… different, somehow. His thoughts still weren’t entirely in order. The first possible hints towards his location he found were the sound voices trickling through from the outside world. Voices he didn’t recognize. Young voices.

“I’m happy to help, Tuck, but I’m not really sure what you expect me to do here. You’re way better than me at this computer stuff than me.”

“By all means, feel free to keep complimenting me, but this has been frying my brain, man. I got this thing secondhand, and the system should be quite powerful, but there’s something using up a ton of its processing and I can’t figure out what. I was hoping you could do your ‘enter into the computer’ thing and see if you see anything.”

A compilation of my headcanons on each of the public perception of the Batkids:

Dick lives full time in Bludhaven, and is a small-time celebrity there. Every once in a while someone in Blud will be like, “Hey, remember Grayson? Wonder what he’s up to.” And then move on from that. Maybe he’ll get on the news for some sort of stunt (to get someone Nightwing wasn’t able to) or because he was running a gymnastic gym, but more of the “Local gymnast turns out to be the son of Bruce Wayne” fame that disappears in a few days.

Jason is pretty much unknown by the celebrity world as Jason Todd, second son of Bruce Wayne. That being said, Red Hood is well known among the streets, though known for what differs from person to person. Jason rarely stays in Gotham for more than a few months; after this, he and Bruce get into some explosive argument and Jason leaves to cool down.

Tim is one of the more well known celebrities, but only in the Business world. Every CEO in Gotham knows about Tim Drake-Wayne, but other than that, no one really cares about him. That being said, there is a very popular blog or twitter or some kind of social media account that posts wild theories and photos of the various vigilantes in Gotham (secretly run by Tim and Bernard, though no one but Bruce knows about it).

Cass is known only for being unknown. She is the daughter of Bruce Wayne, but never attends any public functions. Every once in a while, she’s spotted at a dance studio or Babs library, and that’s it. Meanwhile, every assassin worth their buck knows that Cassis actually the escaped prisoner of David Cain, trained by him and under the protection of Batman. They all admire Batman’s thinking, placing Cass under the care of the one person who could get Cass a public life, and do their best to not fuck with Cass. As such, any event she is at is never attacked by any type of paid mercenary.

Damian is the most famous of the children of Bruce Wayne, and only because Damian refuses to fall into obscurity. Just like his father, he adapted a personality to use publicly, and it mostly consisted of being a grade-A brat and insulting as many pompous asses as he could without getting scolded. As such, the headlines about “Damian Wayne’s bold statements” run about every other week.

By the time Duke entered the family, the Media paid little attention to another kid joining. However, Duke gets almost as much fame as Damian, and it is not because of an act. Videos of him tearing up his homework in protest, getting into vicious yelling matches with racists folk in malls, or of him judo flipping cops go viral. Bruce sees no problem with this.

Steph and Babs are very glad they don't have to deal with any of this publicity.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the justice league being labelled as " The Avengers of DC" and its like. No? The avengers are law enforcement. The Justice League are volunteers

Okay, so anyone who says Tim is a Ravenclaw is WRONG. If you think Tim is a Ravenclaw then you don't understand Hogwarts houses outside of "the cool kids, the smart kids, the nice kids, and the mean kids".

Like you mean to tell me Tim "I blackmailed Batman to make me Robin" Drake isn't a Slytherin?

Tim who has more contingencies than Batman and is the only Robin that can LIE to batman?

Tim decides something needs to happen and then makes it happen. Like that isn't the most Slytherin trait ever.

Slytherin's are cunning, resourceful, and ambitious. If you don't think that describes Tim Drake then you clearly haven't read the Red Robin comics.

I mean let's take a look shall we?

He realizes that batman didn't really die, and not a single person in the entire hero community believes him, so what does he do? He decides to find and save batman himself. AND HE SUCCEEDS.

There's the ambition.

Tim fought seven powerful metahuman assassins, whose abilities he did not know of before, while protecting a civilian, AND WON.

Resourcefulness.

And do we really need to talk about how many times Tim faced Ra's in a battle of wits and won?

Cunning.

So yeah, Tim Drake is a Slytherin and if you still don't think so, fight me.

Out of all of the people The Ghost King Phantom expected to relate to, it definitely wasn’t the scrawny red headed photographer of the Daily Planet. Jimmy Olsen has gotten so many temporary superpowers over his time being Superman’s friend. Hell, he once gained a 4th dimensional being’s reality warping abilities when he was given said dimensional being’s powers during a fight. Sure there’s a dozen or so heroes with the same amount of powers he has, but none as suddenly granted to them as a all powerful god that can relate to a teenager.
