i saw someone point out the frequency with which liberals back social justice movements... how, for instance, when ferguson happened under obama it was not popular and there were many, many liberals who found the blm movement, in a sense, "in violation of [liberal] sensibilities" (when liberalism as a rule does not challenge the status quo, only maintains it and sees any call for revolution or real change as disruptive or 'bad for optics' and therefore not acceptable) but then when trump became president and he opposed blm a lot more liberals decided that the blm movement had merit because they viewed it from a team-sports perspective rather than a worldview based on morals and an understanding of the systems in place in the U.S. - that it was more comfortable for them to operate from a "trump bad" basis rather than "the american justice system and the police are inherently white supremacist, which are inherently, automatically, and always violent"
+ that, if trump was president while israel is carrying out its genocide, liberals would have NO problem denouncing israel and demanding for a ceasefire because they're comfortable operating from the 2-party system basis, NOT from a framework based on material conditions or factors or any acknowledgement or analysis of imperialism, colonialism, or capitalism. but because biden is a democrat, and democrats are supposed to be "the decent party" "the lesser evil" "more respectable" when, in functionality - in real practice, they don't want to disrupt the status quo. (internally, maintaining systems of white supremacy and capitalism; externally, furthering U.S. imperialism by maintaining hegemony and continuing the practice of exploitation and extraction of labor+capital+resources from the global south)
which is why we're here, a month into a genocide, and liberals are so cowardly and gutless that, in the face of our democrat president allowing and funding the genocide of palestinians in order for the U.S. to maintain its military base in the middle east, liberals IMMEDIATELY jump to "well, you HAVE to vote for him still, because trump will be worse!" and go "well im powerless there's nothing i can do", immediately folding like a wet paper bag in the face of the american empire rearing its ugly head in the most blatant, naked way in years, instead of thinking "this is unacceptable, i should pressure my elected officials and do everything i can - be it combating propaganda, contacting my congresspeople or senators, protesting, or engaging in direct action - to ensure this stops as quickly as possible".
there are liberals STILL IN MY NOTIFICATIONS who go "well you'll be electing a fascist if you vote for trump" not realizing that YOU CAN'T SIMPLY VOTE FASCISM AWAY. (which is not to say you should vote for republicans; that's not what i'm saying. none of us have said it.) we're pretty much already there. it's 2003 all over again, with the patriot act and all. the american war machine is pumping out racist, orientalist, pro-colonial, pro-genocide propaganda on behalf of the ethno-state america and its allies have backed since the so-called state's inception. people are being doxxed, fired, harassed, and attacked for visibly supporting palestine/opposing israel. islamophobic hate crimes are on the rise; a 6 year old boy was murdered not one month ago, an arab doctor in texas was stabbed to death. antisemitism is on the rise as well, thanks to the conflation of antisemitism with anti-zionism (which nazis have and will attempt to co-op in order to 'justify' + then act on their antisemitism, racism, and genocidal worldviews). our government is silencing people, brutalizing protestors, and arming and funding an ethno-state committing genocide - everything that would have been called fascist if it was under trump. but because it's a *democrat* liberals place "vote blue no matter who" and "optics" over the extremely basic moral stance that "genocide is wrong and people have the right to self-determination, autonomy, and life". arabs and muslims are already so dehumanized in the west that liberals (whether they consider themselves liberals or not) consider it an inconvenience to talk about the ongoing genocide that is happening with the blessing of OUR government. in this they expose their selfishness, the shallowness of their morals, their chauvinism, and their racism/orientalism/islamophobia/et cetera.
for example, if you see israeli troops waving a gay pride flag and the israeli state touting its support of gay people while said iof soldiers are murdering men, women, and children en masse every single day and you somehow????? think that because gay people are the ones doing the killing or a state claims to support gay people is doing the killing is ok then 1) you have fallen for pinkwashing propaganda and 2) that you find the murder of palestinians, or any people, permissible by a colonial force that uses causes liberals may genuinely care about in order to disguise, whitewash, or "lessen" the severity of the injustices it does unto usually black and brown people outside of the U.S., then you are just as bloodthirsty and depraved as anyone you would personally assign those descriptors of.
once again, it goes back to resorting to a team-sport understanding of the world rather than approaching it from a material one.

A rural pregnant woman in Idaho will now have to travel 46 miles in case of an emergency.
This is totally a normal thing and not at all batshit.

Walz apparently had the support of Ilhan Omar, AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Joe Manchin, which is nuts. Nobody dislikes this guy.

Don't let republicans fool you with their national populism cause they do not give a single care for veterans who died and suffered for America. They would hollow out the VA and fill it corporate and political stooges who would blindly follow the GOP's bidding. Our government doesn't care enough for veterans and here we have Republicans confirming it, remember it was Biden who passed the CARE act. So remember a future where our soldiers suffer more than they already do is what the Republicans want.

We interrupt our usual broadcast to ask the USAmericans out there, please make plans to go vote for Harris.
What ever you think of Kamala Harris, remember the other guy is basically a fascist.
One of the two will take office after the election - there is no other possibility.
Please do your part in keeping Trump out of power. Go vote for Harris.

Today, the country indeed looks alien. The America many of us believed we knew now appears stranger in retrospect: The anger and resentment we may have thought was pitched at a simmer turned out to be at a rollicking boil. And one of liberals’ most cherished shibboleths from 2016—that Trumpism is a movement for aggrieved white men—unraveled in the face of a realignment that saw the GOP appear to give birth to a multiracial working-class movement. A second Trump presidency is the result of this misjudgment.
Democrats are a coalition party of the center-left
The Left has traditionally been associated with egalitarianism, which is by necessity concerned with the masses, the common people, the working class, but also the dispossessed, the marginalized, the disadvantaged
The modern Democratic party traces its roots most directly to the New Deal coalition of the 1930s, which it understands to have been a robust working-class and labor-rights movement
They also see themselves in the 1960s cultural revolutions and their repudiation of hierarchy, itself generally seen as the position of the common person, the masses, but also the dispossessed
The party takes its name from Andrew Jackson, great champion of the Common Man, at least as understood at his time, but it goes back to Thomas Jefferson, famous for declaring that "all men are created equal," and now excoriated for failing to live out that egalitarian principle
The Democrats are a party for the people, understood as capaciously as possible, the party that repudiates narrow nationalism and jingoism, in favor of spreading the benefits of American society widely, in opposition to favoring the privileged few
Why am I reminding you of all these things that you already know?
Because they believe so deeply that they are right in every way that matters, or at least incomparably superior to their opponents, they cannot begin to imagine repudiation from the very people in whose interests they thought they were acting, let alone in favor of the very person they swore was an existential, even murderous threat to those very same people
I think to appreciate the sensation, you might imagine a thief broke into your home, and then your family kicked you out in favor of the thief; someone broke in to ravish your spouse and they called the police on you; a sex offender told your children explicitly what he wanted to do them, and your children fought you to get out of your arms so they could crawl into the van knowing full well they'd never see you again
The shock is so existentially horrifying, such a betrayal of reality itself, that it would require rethinking all your most basic assumptions about the political order, human beings, and worst of all, yourself. Why would they do such a manifestly insane thing? Is there something I don't know? What did I miss? What did I do wrong? What do I do now?
Democrats cannot meaningfully internalize that they are the party of the privileged and the elite, by their own philosophy they are themselves the enemy, they write a blank check for the most lurid excesses of anti-colonial violence and call it "exhilarating" without dealing with the fact that given their assumptions, in this society, they are the power and not the resistance
But it's hard to ask yourself these kinds of questions and most people don't have the nerve for it, and so what we see instead, in another little paradox of human nature, is they're going to blame not the ravisher but the spouse
TL;DR, self-examination is hard, so now Democrats hate Latinos

I swear to god we learned nothing from Trump's presidency. I hate this all so much. How the fuck to people vote for this man. A fucking felon of all things.
the way every single last minute decision trump voter i've seen so far being interviewed has said the reason they went with trump was inflation..... absolutely fucking asinine shit are you JOKING. i understand that a lot of people are single issue voters and don't pay attention to politics as a whole but genuinely believing the democrats singlehandedly caused inflation is so stupid i cannot wrap my head around it. pay attention to literally anything going on anywhere else in the world i BEG

Hey can you explain why so many MLs support DPRK? Like I get that any enemy of the West is probably less bad than Westerners are told, but it's still a hereditary dictatorship! That alone seems like a good reason to strongly oppose its current government even if they do have good trains and are ostensibly "communist" in the face of Western aggression or whatever. It seems like one of the goofiest tankie positions, which I say as someone who's generally sympathetic to a lot of ML arguments.
sure. let's start by drilling down into what 'support' or 'oppose' means--in the vast majority of the world, a marxist-leninist's "support" for the DPRK is in fact neglible. obviously we are not, say, sending the DPRK weapons, or volunteering our labour en masse, or anything that would constitute real material support--because there is nowhere in the world except the DPRK (and perhaps the ROK, but there is of course no organized marxist-leninist mass movement there) where that kind of support would be feasible. likewise, the most strident and pure of heart moral condemnation of the DPRK does not actually have any effect on how that nation is governed--the WPK don't care about your opinion!
so firstly we have to acknowledge that 'supporting' and 'opposing' the DPRK are not especially coherent concepts to apply to MLs (or anybody) in the vast majority of the world. as in all cases, the state you live under the jurisdiction of is the one you are most capable of meaningfully opposing or supporting! and--for most MLs across the world, that state is going to be a participant in the brutal United States sanction program against the DPRK. so when it comes to one's 'position' on the DPRK, as a marxist-leninist one shouldn't be thinking whether they wish to morally condone or endorse the DPRK, but rather what meaningful political struggle they can engage in as regards to the DPRK. and as it turns out, the most meaningful political struggle that marxist-leninists living within the reach of US empire can engage in wrt the DPRK is the struggle against the continued deliberate starvation of that nation and its people!
of course, there are many ways to participate in that struggle. but when it comes to ways to participate in that struggle solely by expressing facts or opinions (as in, the kind of "support" or "opposition" you will witness just by following social media feeds, which is what you're asking about)--debunking propaganda about the DPRK and emphasizing the humanity of its residents weakens the ideological base for continued sanctions, while loudly and proudly condemning it--even fairly condemning it, because of course every socialist project has its errors and wrongdoings--contributes to that ideological base.
tldr: if you live outside the DPRK, the only way you can meaningfully 'oppose' its government is by contributing, materially or in propaganda, to the constant USAmerican efforts to destroy it and replace it with something worse. likewise, the only way you can meaningfully 'support' it is by fighting against those very efforts--so of course, marxist-leninists in the world outside the DPRK are going to 'support' the DPRK, because what that means is fighting against the material sanctions regime and its ideological underpinnings

the other infuriating thing happening rn is people picking all the wrong enemies and having extremely little empathy or comprehension with Jews like. Frankly. A LOT of the loud voices on behalf of Jewish students rn or against antisemitism are coming from right wing and really conservatively pro-Israel Jews and organizations - or from republicans eager to make this into a partisan problem. Yet people have taken this to mean that Jews are inherently a right wing action group, rather than the reverse - the majority of Jews in America, and certainly I’d assume the majority of Jews at these campuses, are on their side. Furthermore, the majority of Jews, ranging from committed antizionists on their protest encampments to many nonzionists and liberal Zionists - and Jews who know how ambiguous all three of these categorizations are, depending on who you talk to - are not republicans or supporters of right wing Zionism and would love not to become a Republican plaything and are, for the most part, abiding by the central leftist issue of shutting the FUCK up when the cops or media ask about problems hurting them in a cause many support. Like I wish people would look at the presence of Jews in protest movements as a “wow my Jewish comrades are being incredibly and unbelievably brave swallowing and dealing with attacks on their own identity because of how strongly and truly they believe in the cause of a ceasefire and Palestinian liberation” not “haha no antisemitism here that’s a whole Zionist psyop out to get us who could never be antisemitic to Jewish People”
it’s confusing as hell because republicans have weaponised this into the ultimate partisan issue but people have got to be smarter about picking their enemies

people still mad at chappell but once a again she is correct… you NEED to criticize politicians. even the ones you vote for. obviously there is a better choice in this election. but that does not been to accept her awful policies. you should always fight for what you believe in. never settle.

i really dont get when ppl are like "liberals need to stop pressuring ppl to vote bc the liberal president is literally doing [x terrible thing]" and its like. yeah? all presidents are going to be fucked up pretty much. but do you want one thats doing some good things and some really bad, or ONLY extremely bad things????
when theres been studies that if all younger of-age people voted this place would be WAY more liberal than it is, i think theres only GOOD that can come out of encouraging more ppl to vote, and consistently. NOT disillusioning them early on and making them feel like nothing fucking matters (esp when you list no alternatives to voting for trying to change things)
it doesnt mean everythings gonna be all fucking sunshine and rainbows just bc theres a democrat president. but if we keep on the trend of liberalism we can get SOME progress done in this godawful country
if the current liberal president is doing shit you dont like. BE LOUD ABOUT IT. LET POLITICIANS KNOW YOU WANT PEOPLE EVEN MORE LIBERAL. AND BE LOUD ABOUT WHAT YOU DO LIKE. SHOW WHAT YOU WILL AND WONT ACCEPT.
THIS SHIT IS A GRADUAL PROCESS AND WE WILL GET INCREASINGLY BETTER PRESIDENTS IF YOU JUST LET US GET OUT OF THE RED HELL THAT IS THIS WHOLE COUNTRY
like holy shit, what would yall have rather TRUMP stayed in office ??????
