The executive branch has amassed tremendous power, challenging the constitutional balance among branches of government. This year alone, the president has ignored the laws passed by Congress to fire leaders of independent agencies without cause, freeze the spending of appropriated funds, and deploy the military as a domestic police force.
Supporters of vast presidential power have a name for this: the unitary executive. It’s the idea that the Constitution gives the president full personal control over the executive branch and wide latitude to act unilaterally. While legal scholars debate its scope, the theory in its most expansive form envisions a king-like president largely unconstrained by Congress or the courts. An embrace of this theory by the executive branch and Supreme Court could carry far-reaching consequences for American democracy.
Join us for a virtual event on Tuesday, August 5, at 3 p.m. ET with historians and legal experts. They will examine the modern presidency, the origins of the unitary executive theory, and its implications for the future of checks and balances.

Disney Reportedly Planning 'Full Reboot' of Beloved Movie Franchise
https://www.mensjournal.com/entertainment/disney-planning-full-reboot-of-beloved-movie-franchise
I'd like to hear opinions from fans about rebooting Indiana Jones.
IMHO, I would advise Disney to let Indy rest in retirement.
And find some other great heroes to base a new franchise on.
I am generally against rebooting or restarting a successful series.
But I am okay with a *real* sequel, such as TRON 3, or The Rocketeer 2.
As long as the new movie is innovative and exciting.

Philadelphia activists rally at Independence Park to protest Trump’s moves to remove exhibits that depict slavery in early America

Federal documents obtained by The Philadelphia Inquirer and The New York Times show the National Park Service has identified 13 total exhibits for possible revision or removal, including “Life Under Slavery” and “The Dirty Business of Slavery” at the President’s House Site in the old city part of Philly [where Independence Hall is located].

Am I the only one who thinks the “$200 million ballroom” should never be allowed. The White House isn’t the President’s personal home. It is a “temporary” residence while a president is in office. The owners are we the people. Demolishing the East Wing to build that ugly gold monstrosity should never be allowed. This needs to be stopped immediately.
