Ok, so in the original Bram Stoker novel, sunlight is not lethal to Dracula. He just loses most of his powers. I'm bringing this up cuz I want a horror comedy where the hero, sensing dawn, tears off the curtains as a last-ditch effort only to have the vampire go "Aw shit, there goes most of my fancy powers. Guess I'll have to beat your ass the old-fashioned way" then proceeds to just deck the hero cuz a vampire at half-strength is still a fucking vampire.

Renfield's unexpected knife attack on Jack on the very day that Dracula would want to get rid of the asylum doctor he knows could save Lucy's life once more is a clue that Dracula forced or directed Renfield to act this way. Renfield had said before that he'd never hurt Jack, and he never did before, nor does it again.

People I suspect to have unconsciously acted under Dracula's prompt:

The normally quiet man who kicked his usually quiet dog for barking at Dracula's grave hideout

Lucy made to go to the cemetery once, and to her window multiple times to be bitten (confirmed)

Mrs Westenra (ill person, so vulnerable to influence) made to wake up anxious at night. As a result, she removed the garlic flowers, allowing Lucy to be summoned to the window to be bitten again

Renfield made to uncharacteristically try to kill Seward with a knife the day Lucy needed someone there

Mrs. Westenra made to uncharacteristically go to Lucy's room and rest there, ensuring that she would die from the wolf attack and thus allowing Dracula to enter the house freely. (with the owner of the house dead, and Lucy not having inherited it in the will, a vampire can enter the estate)

Berserker the wolf made to jump into Mrs. Westerna's house (confirmed)

A staff member putting Mrs Westenra sleep meditation in the wine, making them all fall asleep when Lucy needed help

A maid prompted to steal the golden cross from Lucy's vampire-turning body, ensuring the vampire-rising be completed no matter what

Binding Renfield from being able to speak freely about him (confirmed)
