I was supposed to be sleeping but I have other plans.

I was scrolling to look something when I saw something...

Something that it began to stop moving that the clock has stopped ticking.

That's when my heart stopped...as I saw a new memory.

A new memory that it could cut deep into my heart.

And it's no other than....

...The one that gave me happiness and brought me to a safe haven for all these years that held me so dear.

That's when...

The skies are began to turn into bloody red.

Trapped myself to a world full of nightmares full of dread.

Like I was being a tied up by red threads while I stand up myself and do nothing but seeing my happiness are taken away.

Tears suddenly began to fall.

Heart's pounding with anxiety like there's no tomorrow.

The scenes are turning red--scarlet red that is.

Memories between me and my happiness that held me so dear are flashing my mind.

And that's when...

I let myself to break myself in tears as my heart has began to shatter like glass.

Yes, my imaginary horror has finally come to life.

And that's how...

How I named this dream...

The dream about my happiness that held me so dear has fallen apart.

I call it...

A Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory.

No one is safe for me.

Behind The Poetry:

This is based on my real life experience after I heard the news about Ravi's departure from the Kpop boy group VIXX due to Military Service Issue Scandal last April 11, 2023. And that caused me such broken hearted reactions.

Among the news of Kpop members decided to leave group I saw for all these years as a Kpop fan with Autism for all these long years, that one took a toll on me and I was feeling affected big time.

Because why? Among my Kpop ultimate biases that I love, Ravi is the Kpop ultimate bias that held me so dearly into my heart and it brought me a deeper connection to him. Originally, last 2017...Ravi was my bias wreaker of VIXX but thanks to his R.EB1RTH mixtape and knowing that he produced, composed and wrote lyrics in most VIXX songs, I became his ultimate bias of VIXX.

When I listened to VIXX songs and Ravi songs, it made me imagine myself about being the main character in every Anime. He brought me such inspiration.

When he decided to leave VIXX because of his scandal, I was so devastated, just like Hongbin leaving VIXX due to the scandal last 2020 of August. Leaving me heartbroken.

Few months ago, I saw EXO-Ls were hating Ravi because of Kai's absense of Cream Soda MV and I was so angry. And there's STARLIGHTs (VIXX fans) are decided to continue supporting them without Ravi and Hongbin.

Thus, the news about Ravi's departure from the group VIXX has now given to a special name that I come with few months ago. That the unique name will be named as the only one to be only to be called that no one else will be named it in the bad new memories in the future.

And that's Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory.

Remember: Ravi's departure from VIXX is the only dream and memory that I can be ONLY be named as a Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory and no one else will be named such as that when another heartbreaking and sad Kpop news will be having in the future.

How would the RO act if someone was aggressively flirting with the MC and it was clearly making them uncomfortable

Ooooh I finally get to answer RO asks again I'm so excited 😭 Under the cut because it's loooong.

Beck: Will throw down for the MC no questions asked. It wouldn't be the first time they've been in a fight, and if it was to make some pushy asshole back off? Oh they wouldn't even hesitate. Dating or friends, it doesn't matter.

Croft: Despite usually struggling a lot with social situations, Croft grew up dealing with rich assholes. When they need to they can pull out a cold smile and razor-sharp politeness. They can dress someone down with a few words. They'd walk up, coolly insult the stranger, before ignoring them completely and asking MC if they're ready to leave.

Jay: Not only is Jay a big sibling but they're also very protective over their friends. If they saw some asshole flirting with MC when they clearly didn't want it they'd be furious. They desperately would want to fight them, but instead they'd give the person a piece of their mind and then try to focus on making sure MC is okay.

Perri: Unfortunately Perri is terrified of confrontation, so they wouldn't yell at the person or fight them. Honestly, they'd probably do something like 'accidentally' spill their drink on the person. Divert the attention and slip away with MC while the other person is distracted.

Ravi: Ohhhhh Ravi would Not Like That. I mean, none of the ROs would, but he doesn't like bullies and he especially doesn't like people harassing his friends. Ravi would probably walk up and interrupt, smiling wide and eyes sharp, and make intense eye contact until it became clear that this is an unwise course of action. He'd just make inane small talk but his vibes would be terrifying.

Yasmin: Isn't subtle, and would be immediately furious. She'd charge right up and chew the person out. Honestly, assuming this is happening in Easthaven, she'd straight up be like: "Does your mom know you enjoy harassing people? Hm? Would you like her to?" She's incredibly respected in town lmao she could absolutely ruin someone if she wanted to. It's not smart to mess with her.

(911 S7 FINALE SPOILERS BEWARE)

the GASP I GASPED AT THE END OF THE FINALE—

like, not only is Gerard gonna dig up old trauma for Hen and Chimney on top of the stress of their personal struggles with Mara’s custody and the councilwoman, but now the ghost of the firehouse’s past will have a chance to get swings in at the REST OF THE 118 WHO ONLY KNOW BOBBY’S STYLE AND BRAND OF CAPTAINING?!

We’ll be getting Gerard taking swings at an angry, hurting, loose canon version of Eddie without Christopher to temper him. Cruel digs and mind games played with a man who has just LOST HIS SON AND HIS SON’S TRUST IN ONE NIGHT?!

Buck with his stubbornness and loyalty to the actual family of the 118 and Tommy, who he knows got the original Gerard experience, will probably end up head to head with him too many times. Whether he’s subtle about it or loud and proud about his distaste for Gerard, the thought of him maybe ending up in a situation similar to how Chimney was? Stuck as a man behind for his (completely warranted) behavior and catapulted back into the feelings of neglect and loneliness of the lawsuit arc? HEARTBREAKING!!!

AND POOR RAVI— man just came back only to find himself face to face with a racist, hardass of a captain who I have a bad feeling will see “newest recruit” and take that as an excuse to absolutely traumatize this poor man.

also, Tommy having to watch from the sidelines as the captain he loathed for his behavior suddenly be given full access to the found family of the 118? To his boyfriend, whom he obviously cares for pretty deeply, an impulsive but amazing firefighter who just recently came out and is a known favorite of the former captain? Knowing that, unlike when he was in the house and didn’t speak up against his behavior towards Chimney and Hen, now he has no way to even know if they’re okay, no way to stop or redirect that abuse?

I just know that if this man stays as captain for longer than a few weeks, we will be seeing all the emotional hurt come next season and I just HOPE that the writers offer us a little bit of comfort and care for the 118, as a treat and for my personal sanity.

I don't know who said it first but like, there's obviously the chance of the Chim/Hen and Eddie/Buck with Hen trying to save Chim and Buck trying to save Eddie and the possible implications, but someone said something about improbable pairings in the finale and it would actually be interesting to see Chim needing medical assistance but being trapped with Buck, the one with the least medical experience and Eddie being trapped with Hen, needing a physical rescue Hen wouldn't be able to do and Hen trying to talk Buck through helping Chim while Buck tries to help Hen figure out how to get to Eddie over the radio and all the nuances we could get from that.

there’s this “sliding doors” theory going around twitter (by @/abnormalamanda) that 911 is doing a type of alternative universe episode, where everything is a bit off, like close but not perfect. it’s prompted by some bts pics where the truck says 119 instead of 118, eddies mustache, and oliver posting pics in wardrobe with his tattoos uncovered.

despite the plausibility of this actually happening could yall imagine how fucking amazing opportunity wise that episode could be????

there’s so many scenarios they could visit. shannon never died. or she did, but eddie healed. chris never left. the kim thing never happened. oh my god imagine if bobbys kids never died, but he found athena anyway. what if buck never found out about daniel, or he did way younger, went through a bad boy phase. came out during that time. what if he met eddie already out of the closet. what if they are together. what if buddie became canon in that universe literally in 2x01 (it kinda did anyway but shhhh).

what if gerard isn’t there bc bobby never quit. there was never a fire. what if henren met later in life, adopted danny when he was older.

or complete 180’s too chimney being bucks bestie instead of hen’s. unmarried madney……. not even together madney? id cry.

canon divergence if Tommy didn't show at the bachelor party or the hospital in time because the fire was still raging and by the time he could go, it was late and Buck was just about to leave the hospital. Tommy still gets kissed, goes to offer his congratulations, and Buck drives him back to his station to get cleaned up and drives him home after, because Tommy's been fighting a fire for way too long and is barely vertical

So in this scenario only Eddie, Maddie and Chimney know for sure, and Chimney's still recuperating so he's not at the station.

"Flowers for a Mr Buckley," the delivery man calls out into the firehouse.

Several people look up. Many look curious. The delivery man waits. After a minute, Buck hurtles down from the kitchen and signs for the bouquet. It's not a ridiculously big bouquet but it's full of oranges and yellows and reds, geraniums and chrysanthemums and roses, even, wrapped in pale pink and snow white paper. There's a card that he sticks into his pocket but there's no hiding the smile on his face. He practically floats upstairs again with the bouquet, no doubt to put it in water.

Ravi nudges Eddie with his elbow. "What's with the flowers?"

Eddie raises his eyebrows. "How would I know? I didn't send him those." But there's a smug look on his face that says that he does know.

"No? But aren't you-" Ravi begins to say, when the alarm goes off, and everyone runs to do what they're supposed to.

By the time they're done extricating a handful of people from two buses that crashed into each other, Ravi forgets all about the bouquet.

The next shift has a delivery of chocolate muffins and a dozen donuts, and again it's for Buck. Except this time, instead of glowing happily, Buck rolls his eyes and his cheeks turn pink.

Ravi sidles up to Hen. "Do you know who this is from?"

"No clue." Hen snaps her fingers at Buck, who's engrossed with typing a message on his phone. "Buck, who are these from? They're safe to eat?"

"Yeah, yes they are," says Buck, distracted, as he snags a jelly and walks away.

Ravi isn't above baked deliciousness. The muffins are awesome.

Buck shows up for a shift after a 72 with a slight limp. No one says anything about it. Chimney's back and everyone is happy to see him around, and while there are a few gaps in his memory, he's pretty much back to normal.

And Cap gave them news about receiving medals for their daring rescue. Ravi is so proud of them, even though he knows he would never have the guts to do that based on a hunch. Probably not.

Buck winces as he sits like he's pulled a muscle, but he has been limping for most of the day anyway - not that Ravi stares a lot at Buck, they just had several tasks to do together today - and Ravi doesn't like to see his people feeling poorly.

Discreetly, Ravi hands him an ice pack when no one else is looking. "For your aches and pains," Ravi says, a little embarrassed. He's not part of them, he knows. He's gonna find his own people, eventually. But that doesn't mean he can't show care for someone who's one of his mentors.

Buck looks... touched? Shy? He smiles at Ravi and thanks him, then slides the ice pack over the base of his spine.

Ah, that explains a lot. Maybe he slid off some steps and hurt his tail bone.

Ravi doesn't expect to meet the Tommy at the firehouse a week before the medal ceremony. He's heard from Buck and Eddie and Chimney and Hen how cool Tommy is, and of course he remembers hearing Tommy fly Eddie out to Vegas to watch a fight.

What he really doesn't expect to see is Buck jogging out of the station, throwing his arms around Tommy, and kissing him. With tongue.

Ravi's eyes grow big and round. He's not the only one staring - Hen and Cap are both gawping. Chimney and Eddie are grinning and elbowing each other.

Captain clears his throat. Buck reluctantly pulls away from Tommy and says, in the dopiest tone Ravi has ever heard from him, "Hey."

"Hey," says Tommy, not letting Buck go. Then he smiles, big and bright, at the rest of the 118. "Hi guys. Mind if I steal him away five minutes before the end of shift?"

That smile, though. Ravi gets it now. Heck, he'd ask Tommy out if he were single.

Captain grins. "Only if you promise to bring him back."

Tommy releases Buck and slaps his ass. "Go get your stuff. If we hustle, we can have a leisurely dinner before karaoke trivia."

"Tommy's good people. He's good for you."

One of the things that tipped me over into thinking that the writers possibly intended Tommy to be a long-term or even permanent relationship for Buck was the scene he shares with Bobby in "Ashes, Ashes."

Bobby is making secret farewells to the 118 as he contemplates quitting his job (and, it might be inferred, quitting his life). He gives Eddie a prayer book. He gives Ravi job encouragement. He gives Hen a pep talk about her family-building, he shares a moment with Ravi, one with Chim, he hands over the cooking reins to Buck. "My work here is done," he says.

And then, to cap off the montage, he shares a one on one moment with Buck, his honorary son, in which he tells Buck that he likes Tommy (who, let's not forget, he knew before he knew Buck), and that he thinks their relationship is good. That's like the Good Housekeeping seal of approval for the relationship. It's Buck hearing from his closest father figure, the man he looks up to, admires, and loves, that he approves of Buck's choice of partner.

Bobby is not just blessing this pairing for Buck - he's doing it for the audience as well. Bobby is the Voice of Benevolent Authority of this show, and to hear him say that Buck and Tommy are good together? It made me think they were really going all the way with this, or at least that's the intention now, and when that scene was written.

This interpretation is, of course, belitted and dismissed by fans who hate the pairing. The grossest response to it I've seen boils down to "well, we shouldn't believe the words of a man who's actively suicidal."

Um...what?

Okay, setting aside the question of whether or not Bobby is actively suicidal (you can argue the point, although he verbally denies being so), let's say he is, just for the sake of argument.

Your position then is that suicidal people, in what they're treating as "final words of wisdom and love" for the people in their lives, are going to then lie to those people? Suicidal people often do lie to their loved ones, but what they lie about is their own mental health. They don't lie when they're saying last goodbyes, or giving final gifts.

But nothing's for certain, so let's say that he is lying to Buck. Did Bobby lie to the other people he had "last conversations" with? Did he lie to Hen about her adoption hopes? Was he lying to Eddie when he gave him the prayer book? Or to Buck about his cooking? Or, for that matter, was he lying to Buck earlier in that same conversation about how far he's come? Clearly not. So now your position becomes that "Bobby didn't lie to anyone else, or to Buck, but then decided to lie to him about this one specific thing that's pretty important, for no reason."

Yeah, I don't think so.

But let's take it a step further. Let's say that you believe, for reasons that defy all logic, that Bobby chose to lie to Buck about approving of his relationship, which would have been an extremely easy lie to avoid (if he actually didn't approve he could have just not brought it up, which he intentionally did).

Great. You believe that. You have that right.

Is that what the writers intended for that scene? Because if you're in the "predicting what's going to happen with BuckTommy" game, then that's what matters. Not what you think, or like, or believe - but what do the writers intend?

So let's examine the scenarios.

In scenario A, the writers say to each other, "Okay, let's have Bobby tell Buck he approves of him and Tommy. But he doesn't really mean that. He's lying about it, even though he's been very sincere in this entire sequence of scenes, because he's suicidal and that somehow makes him a liar just for this one thing, and to want to make Buck feel good about his relationship even though Bobby hates it and hates Tommy. Oh, and the audience will absolutely be able to tell that this is our intention and they won't believe Bobby at all and will definitely know that this relationship is doomed."

In Scenario B, the writers say to each other, "Let's have Bobby tell Buck how far he's come, they can share a moment about their time together, and then Bobby will tell Buck that he likes Tommy and their relationship. The audience will hear this and know that Bobby approves of them, and feel good about the relationship too."

If Scenario A sounds a little convoluted and bananas to you, well...you and me both.

We're not meant to read anything into Bobby's words other than their literal meaning. He's sharing a moment with a man he cares about, telling him things that he wants him to hear. One of those things is that he's happy about Buck's current relationship, and likes the man he's seeing.

Or, you know, bucktommy bones.

MC brings home a stray kitten; How do they RO's react and what do they name it if they keep it?

Beck: is a little hesitant--they don't have much experience with cats--but warms up fast. You'd find them trying (and failing) to teach the kitten tricks lmao. Would name it something like Diesel or Harley.

Croft: would be excited but nervous that it wouldn't get along with their cat, Bones. So long as the cats played nice they'd be thrilled. Would suggest something cute and a little edgy, like Raven or Ghost.

Jay: looooves animals, so would be pretty happy even though they're more of a dog person overall. I think they'd name the kitten based on its appearance--so maybe Daisy for a white kitten or Storm for a gray one.

Perri: wouldn't know what to do with it and would be nervous about being a Bad Pet Parent, but eventually get excited. Probably would find food names cute and silly--Pancake or Mochi or Spaghetti.

Ravi: he wouldn't be thrilled that you brought it home without running it by him. He'd feel kind of wary. He likes cats, but owning one is a different story. Eventually you'd come home and find him sleeping with it curled up on his chest though. He'd let you name it, but if pressed he'd go with something simple, like Boots or Whiskers.

Yasmin: she also would be a little put out at first. These are the sorts of decisions you make together. But then she'd go out and buy a ton of cat stuff--despite her frustration she'd love the little thing. She's fond of animals with old people names, so she'd say Maurice or Gertrude or Millicent.

Crash into my life - Lance Stroll x Civil Servent! Reader

Plot: You work in a fancy government job, pretty boring 9-5 but Lance Stroll and his insurance claim makes your job that little bit better

Your job wasn’t exactly fun, wasn’t exactly boring. It was one of those jobs that you’d got it at a young age and worked your way up through the ranks as you’d got better and better and because it was safe and something you were good at you stuck with it.

To keep it short and sweet you were a civil servant. Not like 007 kind of crazy stuff but you did work for MI6 in their fraud, tax and insurance department.

You basically took over insurance claims that were over a certain threshold and had to go through the government for … whatever reason whether they are a foreign National claiming in the UK or something.

Usually it was boring matters such as Chelsea Football Club claiming compensation for things as simple as water damages etc. You didn’t even really get to see anyone, you had the data and you analysed it against the scenario and hey presto you made your pay out.

Your favourite time of the year was winter. More claims came through and life was more unpredictable thanks to the whether. Delayed train into London St Pancreas? No tubes working so you have to make the 20 minute walk to your office building from the station. Slipping on ice, it was the only excitement you got in life which was honestly kind of sad.

For you it started at as a normal Monday. You woke up at 7am, brushed your teeth, got into a nice corporate appropriate outfit, got on the train, got a coffee from Pret before heading into your building.

That was your routine, and you didn’t often differ from it unless you had holiday booked. But working a 9-5 Monday - Friday often meant that you

But it felt like there was a different buzz today around the building like there was something going on.

When you all went into the morning briefing for the cases you’d get today, everyone was way too excited for 9am and the start of the day. You sat down next to your office buddy Shiv and looked around confused.

“What in earth is going on with everyone?” You ask looking over at Shiv who’s typing away on her laptop taking in information.

“Apparently there’s some really interesting cases to work on up for grabs today” she explains and you nod knowing once every blue moon some exciting things would crop up and have the whole office acting like kids on Christmas.

You’re all still waiting for the department boss to come in, joining in conversations about what could possibly be happening today.

“Ladies and Gents please take a seat for the meeting to commence. Thank you. Thank you” he offers smiling and everyone gets comfy.

“So we’ve got some exciting stuff today. I’ve formed a team to deal with the Train Networks Claim, that’ll be Shiv, Brayden and Ravi” he says and they all nod writing in their pads what tasks they’d have to do today.

He went through all of them apart from you, before dismissing the meeting. You were slightly confused and therefore packed up yours things a little slower than everyone else to see if you could stay behind and ask why you hadn’t been given an assignment.

“Y/N could you stay behind so I can talk to you for a moment” he asks and you nod, going to the end of the long conference table where he was stood.

“I like you, you’re young and learn quickly and I want you to progress more than you already have so I’m giving you a really important case. You’ll actually get to meet the said person affected, he’s … of high value so be considerate of your wording when talking to him. Alright thank you, here’s the case! Have a report to me by Friday” he offers and you nod happily. You take a seat opening up the material seeing the name of the claimer immediately.

Lance Stroll

You read through the facts, apparently he crashed his Aston Martin driving down the M1 to get to Silverstone into some sort of government van.

After analysing some of the data yourself, a knock comes on your office door from one of the younger interns.

“Erm, Y/N there’s two men in suits here to see you?” She asks rather than tells you, it wasn’t common for people to come in and out of the building due to the confidentiality of the work conducted here.

“Send them in please, but before you do ask them if they want anything. Tea, Coffee, Water” you smile and go back to reading another report from a police officer who was on the scene of the accident.

You watch as two men walk into your office space. One looking younger maybe the same age as you and one looking significantly older which you assumed was the dad.

“Good morning” you smile lightly before going back to some data on your computer. They took a seat, patiently waiting for you to address them.

Lawrence, who you’d just read about in the report who was indeed the father, cleared his throat as if to get your attention.

“Give me one minute Mr Stroll and I’ll be right with you” you smile, still nose in your computer.

“We’ve come all this way to the city centre to see you it would be appreciated if you didn’t waste our time” he huffs and even just from this reaction a bubbling of excitement started in you, just at the promise of actually seeing a client and talking to them in the flesh.

“I understand that, but I won’t be able to tell you much unless I see all the data” you say looking up at them through your glasses. This time you notice Lance and how he’s just sort of staring at you.

“Can I help you Mr Stroll?” You ask looking over him.

“No, I’m all good. Take your time” he smiles and you nod. In 5 minutes you believe you’ve combed through enough data to talk to them.

“This is awfully interesting I almost never get to see the people behind the claim” you smile happily and they both nod.

“Okay so so far from what I can see is there was a crash in your vintage Aston Martin that was for an event at Silverstone, the race track and that you got into a collision with a government van trailing a foreign national?” You ask.

“In short terms, yes … but” Lawrence tries to declare.

“And you weren’t present Mr Stroll” you say looking in the direction of the older man.

“No I wasn’t” he huffs out.

“Okay, then I will ask you to just step out my office while I get an account of the events from your son, if that’s alright with you. Just down the corridor there’s a waiting room there, help yourself to the food and drink in there” you smile hoping to butter him up a little to get him out.

“Alright” he says before taking his leave.

“Okay Mr Stroll lets…” you start but he interrupts you.

“Lance, please just call me Lance” he offers and you nod.

“Well Lance, it’s not … looking great” you start of slowly and he looks at you shocked.

“What do you mean? Your guys went into me?” He says raising his voice slightly and you give him a stern look that has him sinking into his seat.

“Don’t come into my office and raise your voice when I’m doing my best to help you!” You exclaim placing a pad in front of him.

“Sorry it’s just that my dad isn’t happy already that i totalled a car that was needed for race day” he sighs rubbing his temples.

“Ahhh so you’re an F1 driver. Or is it NASCAR because of the accent?” You ask and he looks shocked as if you were supposed to know who he was.

“Er F1” he offers and you nod.

“You any good?” You ask writing done some more notes as you watch the camera on the government vehicle as Lance’s car didn’t have one.

“Excuse me?” He chokes out and you couldn’t help but laugh a little.

“Well I mean im currently looking at your claims for a super car that you totalled and so I can’t help but ask if your any good” you tease and once he heard the tone he gets it and just rolls his eyes.

“Oh haha laugh it up” he says and you do.

“Im sorry but this is quite possibly the most fun I’ve ever had in this job. It’s rather boring most days so I’m just making the most of it” you smile and he smiles back.

“Okay I can see that they did in fact turn into you. And of course I’m here for the people. The issue is where your Canadian. I can pay out what the car was worth when you originally brought it, but 50,000 for the fact that it was an accident on our part” you say and he thinks for a moment.

“No” is all he says and you look over at him in shock.

“Sorry? What do you mean no, no is my final decision” you say crossing your arms.

“I would like to add something else to the 50,000 on top of the car value” he smiles and you nod, wondering what it could possibly be and admiring the boldness of his statement.

“Id like to take you out to dinner” he smirks and your head shoots up from your laptop.

“I- i cant do that… it’s not professional. I could get told off. I could loose my job.” you admit knowing that if people were to find out about your payout and think it was bad then they’d be asking questions to you.

“Oh come on it’s just dinner to say thank you for being so … helpful” he smiles leaning forward in his seat and you shake your head.

“Fine, dinner it is” you smile.

That was the start of something way bigger than just dinner.

Hi, How would Oswin react or think in the scenario of - He is helping with guard duty around the village and MC is in town to do some chores for da and pa they walk by in the distance and Oswin overhears villagers talking.

villager A: " Woah look at that cutie.....I would give anything just for them to give me a CHANCE to warm their bed."

villager B: "HA at least you know when you're out of your league, but you know it doesn't hurt to go talk to them."

villager A: sighs "I wouldn't be able to handle the rejection."

villager B: just pats their friends back

(for timeline I guess would would be talking sometime not too long until the birthday incident and MC used to/still is crushing on Oswin)

Hello Nony! That's a fun scenario and, honestly, one that legit could have happened (*cough* probably did).

Let's do a mini POV for this. We'll say MC took on the name Ravi as well for simplicity's sake.

Oswin stares after Ravi as they walk by, the comments rubbing him the wrong way. He mentally kicks himself once he's realized. It's not his place. Not anymore.

Once there was a day that it could have been his place…to give them his advice or opinions on a partner. Not anymore. He burned that bridge himself like a damned fool. He lit the fire, tried to stamp it out even but failed to over and over again.

He sees the villagers continuing to eye Ravi. One of them is physically pushing the other to encourage striking up a conversation. Oswin recognizes them, but doesn't recall their names right away. Both have decent reputations at least; they don't seem like they mean ill. Maybe someone like that would be fitting for Ravi after all? Someone who speaks highly of them, pines for them…someone who doesn't snap at them in misplaced anger and frustration.

Ravi turns around, spotting Oswin across the way. He freezes as their eyes meet. His mind goes blank. They wave at him, even smile. He begins to raise his hand in return. Why would they waste a smile on him? He snaps his hand back. Not anymore. He reminds himself.

One of the villagers finally breaks from their group and crosses the way toward Ravi… Oswin's attention is pulled towards them once again. He can't stomach this. He can't even wave back and be friendly - can't even just be friends.

Ravi is smiling politely as the villager nervously flirts with them. Maybe they'll become friends. Maybe the villager will get what they want and they'll eventually be more than that…

Oswin turns away. He can't do this…. Not anymore…

Buck was acting weird. Eddie knew it was coming. Buck had just been dumped and it was bound to flare up his abandonment issues, but the behavior he was displaying wasn’t his usual self doubt. It was laced with something else, and Eddie couldn't put his finger on what, which was quite unsettling. He couldn’t remember the last time he didn’t know what was going through Buck’s mind. 

He tried to let Buck come to him. That was how it usually worked. Maddie would pumper Buck for answers, send various people his way and at the end Buck would end up on Eddie’s couch. Well, he technically did end up on Eddie’s couch already, but wasn’t very talkative then either. He ran out the door as fast as he showed up and didn’t offer any explanation. 

Eddie shrugged it off then and decided not to worry, but as Buck was getting more and more weird throughout the following shifts, he began to freak out just a little bit. The worst part was when he realized that Buck wasn’t acting as unusual when Eddie wasn’t around. He laughed with Hen and goofed around with Chimney. He cooked with Bobby and ordered Ravi around like nothing was out of the ordinary. 

He first noticed it one week after the break up. He was a little late for work, because his battery died. He made a huge progress with Chris the previous night and they talked for over an hour on the phone. By the end of the conversation Eddie was already half asleep. He was tired after his shift and also Chris’ voice in his ear was very calming after going so long without contact. He fell asleep without connecting his phone to the charger and woke up too late. 

He rushed up the stairs, accompanied by a loud laugh. Oh, how he missed Buck’s laugh. It’s been far too long. 

“Hi, guys. Sorry, I’m late.” He directed the apology to Bobby, who motioned with his hand for Eddie to sit and eat his breakfast. 

He sat on his usual spot next to Buck, but before diving into his food he looked up at the blonde. Instead of a blinding smile, which Eddie was expecting, he was met with nothing. Buck was avoiding his gaze like a plague and Eddie was lost. He looked at his team around him, but no one seemed to notice this sudden change of Buck’s heart. 

After that he started to notice it more. Every time he walked into a room Buck would suddenly go quiet or excuse himself like his ass was on fire. It got infuriating. Eddie had no idea what he did to deserve such treatment. 

The worst thing about this whole thing was that Eddie wasn’t prepared for it. Which was a weird feeling, since he was always prepared for a worst case scenario. But he decided to let himself have joy, he decided to stop punishing himself. He made himself vulnerable for an attack and it came from the least expected source. The person who promised to have his back, stabbing him from behind. 

That was a little too dramatic. Buck didn't do anything, or he was doing something, but Eddie was sure the intention wasn’t to hurt him. But it made Eddie angry at himself. How could he have thought that a person like him deserved to let his guard down. He was always meant to keep himself in check, always meant to take in all of his surroundings, before even thinking about relaxing and he had forgotten himself. Let himself go, with a child-like hope that he was going to be free. 

There was no such thing as being free, not for Eddie at least. He had people depending on him. He had Chris to think about and Buck to support and job to do and- 

HIs breath started to quicken. His hands started to shake and he couldn’t have that, not here, not at work. He was in the middle of cleaning the fire engine and there were too many eyes around him. He tried to stay calm, long enough to get away from the crowd. There was ringing in his ears and his whole body felt like it was moving in slow motion. All the voices around him were too loud, but somehow Eddie was incapable of catching a single word from the conversations happening all around him. 

He hoped he looked calmer outside than he felt on the inside and somehow managed to get himself into the empty bunk room and closed the door behind himself. He had trouble getting his breath in and put his back against the cold wall to ground himself. He tried to think of jello and let himself slide down to the floor.
