Of the 19 hijackers who carried out the Sept 11 attacks:
15 were from Saudi Arabia (a powerful/oil-rich country the U.S. works hard to maintain diplomatic relations with)
2 were from the United Arab Emirates (also a powerful/oil-rich country the U.S. works hard to maintain diplomatic relations with)
1 was from Egypt, 1 from Lebanon.
None of the hijackers were from Iraq.
None of the Sept 11 hijackers were Iraqi.
None of the 9/11 hijackers were from Iraq.

Does it ever just hit that something as purportedly basic as the color red is a shared delusion of generations upon generations of humans whose ancestors decided that if a photon hits their retinas while wiggling in a very specific manner, they would call what they were seeing "red" (in whatever ancient language they spoke).
Except if it's wiggling sliiiightly differently, it's still "red" too. But if it's wiggling too differently, we have to call it something else.
So when we ask someone to confirm that a thing is red, wether explicitly or otherwise, what we're really asking is are we sharing this so-widespread-it's-basically-universal delusion that has been fed to us since we started talking?
Except when you ask someone who is colorblind. Because they can literally see that red is not real. But they have to participate in this farce even though they see that the proverbial emperor has no clothes.
But here's the rub: there's really no hard boundaries between red and red-adjacent, and no real fixed point of exactly red, so how can we ever be sure that we're all sharing the exact same delusion of red?

Every time some [INSERT FILLER INSULT HERE] bastard says Vivi can’t be the final Strawhat because she’s not strong or implies Luffy picks his crewmates based on how useful they are I want to legally change my name to Kyle so I can go around punching holes in drywall without consequences.
Powerscalers have their heads so shoved up Akainu's ass I’m seriously questioning if they really watch the show at all. Luffy has not and will not EVER pick a crewmate based solely on usefulness to him when this exact line of thinking pissed him off so bad during Arlong Park and his fight with Arlong.
Luffy picked Nami without ever seeing her actually navigate, he wanted Sanji without trying his cooking, he chose Chopper simply for being a fellow monster, he wasnt even aware little dude was even a doctor. He didn’t know what a Poneglyph was when he accepted Robin as one of their own. The same Luffy who considers one of the most important aspects of pirate life to be music and consistently saying how badly they need a musician??
I just know we aren’t talking about the guy that wanted to recruit a tree in Thriller Bark like this. “Oh but that was just a gag.” Maybe to us but not to Luffy, he really wanted that tree.
Luffy picked the people on his crew because he likes them, he’s an insanely good judge of character with a high level for emotional intelligence and people willfully choosing to ignore that undermines his character a lot.
The character you’re looking for? The one that picks his crew based solely on power and what they can do for him is Blackbeard. You know, THE ANTI-LUFFY.
DPMO and hop off my goat please and thank you.

It’s so funny seeing the problems people have with this show and just going *shrug*. The show itself is so ambitious that it was bound to have holes in the narrative, but like. “The adults only remember what’s convenient”—yeah, kinda? Kinda the idea? Do you remember every instance of what you did when you were eighteen, decades ago? I don’t. I definitely do not. And there is so much I know I’ve wallpapered over out of shame and regret and embarrassment—as a very normal person with a terribly boring upbringing.
Imagine spending two years where every day bleeds into the next, where you’re doing unimaginable things just to get by, where you’re sometimes reveling in the worst shit you could possibly be doing because it makes you feel alive? You’re telling me you’d cast that all in stone, memory-wise? Nah, dude, you’re pushing that shit down. You’re fine-tuning it in your head so it’s fuzzy at best and flat-out erased at worst. You think at forty these woman have just been chilling with their most reprehensible memories? Shauna absolutely did not. Taissa canonically repressed everything she possibly could. Natalie sank into drugs. Van ran away. It’s only when they’re together and they’re forced to actually interact that they start behaving like their teenage selves again. It’s only when you come back upon your old classmates that you fall into old patterns. Because doing otherwise for twenty-five years would have undone them completely. They did forget. Not completely, but the way you always forget huge swathes of your childhood. And then it’s easier to make the story what you can live with.
Shauna? Oh, she was kind of always writing, good with a knife, feel like she stressed me out sometimes, but I had my own problems. Oh, Tai? She was intense and ambitious and…did that ever damage me directly? Can’t recall. Van? She was sweet and funny and told stories. That’s probably it. Misty? Yeah, she was the outsider, she wasn’t even on the team. I remember making fun of her, but haven’t we all been there? Lottie? Where did she even go? We just lose track of old friends sometimes. Nat? Nat’s been in and out of trouble for years. Hard to remember what she even looked like when she was small and blonde and…and…rough? She was rough, right? Yeah. Yeah, the yearbook pictures back that up. Jackie? A tragedy. Just so sad. Anyway: life to live, groceries to buy, work to do. Anyway: don’t need to waste any more mental energy on that. Anyway: wait—why is someone sniffing around the story? What even is the story? It’s bad. It’s bad, why would we want to remember? It’s bad, and the details are coming back, and oh no, oh god, we can’t bury it any deeper.
What we’re watching in the adult timeline is far from flawless, but they are remembering as they go. And they’re coloring their own memories, which are really just memories of memories. Like Nat seeing Travis in the dead-wife light, they are still writing the narrative the way they can live with. But their stories are going to start butting up against one another. And the only way through is to be the last one standing: because then you can believe whatever you need to. Whatever lets you keep standing tall.

So Oryx wants to go back to the Fundament and intends to leave his throne world to Xivu. Which is pretty bad because it would reconnect Xivu with a throne world. But she is not taking this very well. Unwell about these interactions:

#the first time he did it in unmortricken i was like Fuck Yes and little did i know he would just keep doing it the whole time#DESPERATELY hoping they keep both of these things. i Love when characters have tiny little habits sprinkled in their actions#to me these things kinda sorta symbolise him no longer being afraid to really be himself#like he no longer has to hide certain things about himself that inside of the cfc wouldve made him appear ‘suspicious’#since he IS like so much different than any other morty ever#also barely related but like. em is fundamentally such a good character bc everytime we see him he’s feeling something different#in his first appearance he was cold and distant because at the time he was new to being free and was strictly focused on his goal and wasn’#even sure if it would work#in his second appearance he seemed hopeful and honest both of these things just being a trap to get the people of the citadel to trust him#and his old colder self unfurling near the end after he successfully becomes president#in his third appearance he seems giddy almost. he’s constantly giggling before and after sentences and he’s super eager to just Get The Hel#Out. and also to reveal the truth to morty prime. make it so that he doesn’t have to be the one to shoulder everything anymore.#and this fourth appearance. apart from a few little details he really just seems happy and comfortable. the entire episode he was just doin#whatever he wanted and nobody got in his way at all. and i could not be happier#normal about this character!#rick and morty#evil morty#rick and morty spoilers#odiespeak

"Sometimes, I wish that I too had been gifted with the Echo. Then I might see what you have seen and glimpse into your heart without the need for words."
Just in case anyone gets the wrong idea about Joker and Y'shtola-- he enjoys pushing her buttons, and she enjoys giving it right back to him. But they love each other, really. :)

Whenever I think of Dom Eddie being a little mean, I think about that scene where he’s like “aren’t you still in that phase?” to Buck. It’s a little bit mean, a little bit gentle and a lot fond.
Fandom kind of archetypes doms and subs a certain way and they can surely be like that! But there are other kinds of D/s relationships too. Like you said, they’re having fun! And Buck is also taking care of Eddie and not just the other way around. They already have an awesome dynamic that will translate into the bedroom beautifully. What are Buck and Eddie if they’re not a little dorky and a little cringe? Firmly believe that Buck and Eddie are the laughing in the bedroom couple. It’s all fun!
exactly my pointtt!!!!!!

i can’t stop thinking about cishet souyo now… yosuke’s getting a good grade in heterosexuality. it’s insane either way. girlyosuke’s slink is a hallmark movie built on the bones of psychological horror. a bisexual girl with homophobia so internalized it hits marrow in love with a guy that keeps saving her. the platonic ideal of acceptable attraction. oh my god. i entirely do think rank 10 still happens like that. wanting to be equal to yu instead of the roles of girl and guy, thereby trying to cast away the heteronormativity girlyosuke was clinging to in favour of becoming people to each other…
and then yosuke’s inferiority complex thing with girlyu is insaaaane. absolutely nothing would change about girlyu except the way people react to her. so like literally everything that yosuke sees in yu as the paragon of masculinity is still there, but recontextualized as something feminine. the whole tangled up envy/attraction… yu is everything yosuke wants to be, and i don’t think that’d change even slightly if yu were a girl. here’s how transfem yosuke can still win. and yes rank 10 still happens like that, there yosuke grapples with how he’s been seeing her as a girl and as someone out of reach above him instead of an equal, yada yada.
also i think het souyo is an unstable isotope that usually degrades into gay souyo because yosuke compulsively becomes whatever gender yu is. and i’m barely kidding

i feel like we kinda miss the whole. catalyst for fiona and lips relationship exploding.
here's your older sister, and here's the only person you've ever been able to trust. she tells you to get out again and again and again, even though you're so afraid that the moment you turn around everything is going to fall apart. getting out, and then getting the rest of them out, is your job. that's what your supposed to do.
neither of you have been able to trust your parents and all you have is each other, and she's telling you to get out. and it's either doom everyone around you by staying, or trust her and leave.
and then, right as you're finally starting to find the rhythm of a world you've beed denied access to your whole life, it's because of her, the only person you've ever been able to trust in you entire existence, because of you leaving and trusting, that your five year old brother almost dies. he's comatose. he's covered in tubes. he might never be the same again. the only person you've ever trusted has done the exact same thing your parents did. Put drugs and alcohol and letting loose above the kids their supposed to take care of.
Is it any wonder Lip stops trusting her. That Lip takes the longest to forgive her. "it wasn't her coke she didn't leave it out" she got high around a toddler and left him near the cocaine. left the cocaine where he could get it. the two other adults picked him up and danced with him with coke on the table. Lip walks in on this after spending an entire day trying to rescue their other brother. His little sister is the one who finds their baby brother.
even discounting that in response to this he has to suddenly start stealing food or else all the kids in the house will starve, or that Fiona suddenly jackrabbits into another person he has to care for instead of someone he can trust, or that he now has to care for a 4 year old, while working a job, and being a full time college student on work study, discounting all of that of course Lip looses faith in his sister. Of course he does.

just finished omori manga chapter 7 and i am DYING laughing. this shit isnt even bad anymore its just funny bad. oh my god
#im hollering reading this because oh my god#the whole thing is a mix between “oh. what were they thinking/neg” and “HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHAT WERE THEY THINKING/pos”#like WHAT. space pirate oc. spaceboy ex machina. completely forgetting the fundamentals of how the truth is handled in headspace. cackling#also i know its a manga but... the sweetheart battle is GOLD#shes just wiping the floor with these kids while hero's like “oh no... her power level... its too strong...” and same with omori when he-#-doesn't succumb. i CANNOT take this manga seriously jesus christ#also side note yes you're reading this correctly!! sweetheart's entire plot line is resolved in ONE (1) chapter#like. sorry what. the horrendous pacing is getting worse and worse i reckon we'll be in blackspace in like three chapters#but!!! some things i liked#PHOBIA BOSSES ARE BACK!!!! arachnophobia is here!!! even though the way they handle it is not canon compliant but that's progress#they keep the censored kissing joke too but its arguably better here because of how detailed and romantic the panel is so. points there#one of my fav jokes from the og game#and uh. oh the sprout moles are fucking adorable i loved those#omori#but yeah tldr i cannot find it in my heart to be mad at this anymore. it is just hilariously bad to me which is a major improvement compare#-to my previous opinion of it like twenty minutes ago which was that it was just Bad#anyway. i try not to complain much on this page but god i cannot ignore this shit anymore its SO BAD ITS FUNNY#cleg's omanga tirades

"Watch What Happens (Reprise)" is one of the most important scenes in Newsies to me, because it's the turning point for Davey as a character. Out of the three leads, Davey is the one who undergoes the most personal change, and it happens specifically through his relationships with other characters. Jack was always going to stand up for his rights and Katherine was always going to chase the truth, but David genuinely just wanted to feed his family. He was the one who needed to be talked into starting a union, he was the realist who kept trying to temper Jack's enthusiasm and point out all the practical aspects as a way of balancing out Jack (and Kath's) reckless determination. Once he gets going he quickly becomes a union leader (because he does have that drive to fight for justice, he just needed a push from Jack to believe he was capable of making change), but it's still always with other people. He and Jack stir everybody up in "The World Will Know" and "Seize the Day," but that's Jack and Davey as a unit. Davey and Kath finally sync up with the other newsies as a group in "King of New York," but that's all of them feeding off each other's energy. "Watch What Happens (Reprise)" is the first time Davey is the sole power behind the union, even when faced with Jack's clear disbelief. Up until that point, Jack had the energy and Davey had the brains. Now it's reversed; with Davey needing to convince Jack to believe in a better future and knuckle through the difficult times. And what I love so much is that he's got actual evidence and reasoning to back himself up. Jack is taking the role of the skeptic in this scene as he points out that his painting of Santa Fe is more realistic than their strike, but he's wrong! Davey isn't just flying on blind optimism, he's got good reason to think that they can defeat Pulitzer. They always could, but it took Jack, Davey, and Kath reinforcing each other when they were at their lowest to actually make it happen.
