Hurt/Comfort!

Jack has EXTREMELY toxic masculinity. If anyone so much as jokes about him acting like a 'girl', he'll do a full shut down and won't talk to anyone. Until David came into his life. Every time Jack would shut down, Racetrack or Albert would go to David's window and tap six times. That was his code to go and de-escalate the situation. Usually, what helped him was Jack laying his head in David's lap while he read out loud in a gentle voice and reassured him everything would be alright.

Jack has insane food trauma. The second someone went out to grab his food, he would immediately pull it away and slap their hand back. He was so scared of getting a luxury he may not get for a couple of days taken away. When David noticed this, he made sure to inform all of the boys about it and what not to do. Slowly, Jack got more comfortable with eating around everyone and now inhales his food the minute he gets it.

When Jack is sad and with David, David immediately notices. Unless Jack isn't up for talking at the moment, David prefers Jack to use his words. He always asks 3 questions: 1. Would you like a hug? 2. Do you need to eat or drink anything? 3. Are you feeling sick? And usually, these work.

Sleepy Javid!

David is the big spoon. But, on the rare occasion that something bad happened at school, Jack immediately offers his spot to him. Jack also finds comfort in being able to hold and protect his love while whispering soft affirmations into his ear.

David is an insomniac. He can never sleep. His sleep schedule is totally wack, he always had eyebags, and was always mildly sick. Jack threading his fingers through David's hair helps him fall asleep.

Medda made them a blanket for their year anniversary, and they both use it to fall asleep every night.

Before bed, Esther and Mayer come and check on the boys. Just in case. Esther pecks them both on the forehead, Mayer says his goodnights gruffly, and they all go to bed. Mayer always thinks the boys are doing something, but when they wake up, they're in the same position they fell asleep in.

welcome to a random Javid moment I found in 92sies when I was watching it the other day

JACK LITERALLY GRABS DAVID BY THE TIE?!? AND DRAGS HIM ALONG?!? YOU’RE TELLING ME THEY’RE STRAIGHT?!

javid headcanons because i fucking can bitch

every friday, after david gets done with school, he sneaks up behind jack while hes selling papers and taps him on the shoulder. the first time he did it, when jack turned around, his face brightened and immediately tackled davey into a bone crushing hug. after he got used to it, the hugs became even more soul binding.

during the summer, the walk over to brooklyn to hang out with spot and hotshot. they sit on the railing of the bridge and dangle their feet off, a sandwich that esther made for each of them and lemonade they scrounged up for from jacobis.

david is a morning person. jack is not. when davey sleeps over on the roof, it takes all of his strength not to lie back down with jack in the pile of blankets and pillows that are specifically for them.

for birthdays, david writes jack poetry and jack draws david pictures. dozens of each. jack keeps all the writings in a box behind a brick by his bunk, and david keeps his drawings in a chest that he keeps at the end of his bed. they each look at eachothers stuff when they miss each other.

davey does summer school for extra credit, so he can get into a good college and get a scholarship. on these days, jack sits and waits for him on the step beneath a sliver of shade, just barely keeping him from getting sunburned or heat stroke. david scolds him, but the highlight of his day is seeing jack sitting there for him.

david is a stress baker. he will just show up to the bunkhouse in the middle of the night with plates of cupcakes, bread, and cookies. he specifically makes lemon sugar, as he knows they are jack's favorite. he also is made aware of the other boys' allergies. because nobody else pays attention to them, he makes some pastries with no gluten, some with no dairy, some with no eggs, no sugar, no salt, etc.

when they cuddle, david gently rocks them back and forth, his hands curling in jacks hair. jack always falls asleep, wrapped around davey like a koala, still sitting up.

jack is a drooler. david doesn't mind. its always on his shoulder, chest, stomach, wherever jack falls asleep. he finds it adorable. jack finds it incredibly embarrassing, but he cant stop doing it.

sarah definitely was hitting on jack for a while, but she soon figured out they had something going on. she may or may not have caught them making out on the couch. she was pretty mad, and still hasn't forgiven davey. but jack always reassures him that it wasnt his fault and sarah was just being incredibly petty. (yes i love the villian sarah jacobs trope)

during the winter, david makes each of them hot chocolate and sourdough bread. they eat it fresh and warm. jack lays his head in daveys lap as they sit in a pile of blankets on the floor, david reading out loud to him as jack dozes off, warm and snug.

(god damn that was a lot. got carried away. im thinking of making a newsies headcanon account! but i dont want to take @generic-newsies-username 's spot. obviously i would use proper grammar. did yall like? should i make a headcanon account?)

i just. imagine you're a highschooler. and your father was just injured and now he's out of work so you have to go selling papers. and when you do you meet a flat gorgeous boy with dreams caught in his eyes and he takes one look at you and tells you you're his selling partner now and then he takes you to meet the closest approximation of a parental figure he has and sits in the theatre awnings with you while she performs. and then the next day he's stuck on some insane notion of going on strike and you're pretty sure it's a bad idea, and you make it known that it's a bad idea but then he looks at you like he knows you're just waiting to cave, and you are is the infuriating part. so you go on strike and he all but appoints you strike leader and tells a reporter that you're the brains behind the whole operation and then after all of that he fucks off and leaves you in charge of a strike that you were vocally opposed to from the beginning. and on top of everything else you're seventeen. if i was david jacobs i'd have burnt something down.
