On s3 of my tpp relisten, and I want to talk about Vespa and Juno’s relationship and sibling dynamic.

It’s pretty clear that their dislike of each other stems from how similar they are, a fact that is unsurprising with Juno after 2 seasons but is interesting when it comes to Vespa. Juno doesn’t like himself and he especially doesn’t like the parts of himself that come from his mother, seeing that reflected back at him makes him want to fight it. Vespa is incredibly paranoid, a trait I believe come with schizophrenia, though this information is from a surface level psych class and I haven’t investigated much further. She distrusts almost everyone around her at first meeting, but I believe she’s not bad at this if she has Buddy with her. I imagine her first impression has a lot to do with her knowledge of the person, Buddy’s feelings about the person, and the person’s attitude.

Now she did stab Juno first meeting, but I imagine you don’t actually sus out a person when their the target of your knife, so we’re going to brush over that. When she met Juno, she was aware of how he was when Buddy met him and everything there is to know in his background check, but I imagine Juno was more than a little high strung and snippy to say the least. All this to say, I have no doubt in my mind Juno was a little aggressive when meeting Vespa properly for the first time which probably put Vespa on the defensive.

My guess after that is that Juno had a ‘what’s this girl’s problem?’ attitude and never took Vespa’s feelings into account. It’s very clear Juno cannot really conceive what Vespa’s hallucinations are like for her in the Shadows of the Ship. He’s completely dismissive of how it is for her, saying that if he knew he could get out of this conversation by going to the bathroom he would’ve. He’s really to busy fighting her to feel any empathy for her.

They don’t hate each other, but they definitely don’t like each other. They’re basically always fighting, but they learn when to cool it, like in the Clean Break. They care for each other, but they want to drown the other in acid. If that’s not a sibling dynamic, I honestly don’t know what is.

the thing about our comic is its like. pretty much all written/planned out for the most part so theres no worry about integrity or "stealing fan theories" bc like. its already written. so if ur right ur right and if ur wrong ur wrong and nothing is going to change based on what readers say. so u can say whatever u want and i can read it with no worries.
