There are so many things about Saw 3D that are like, almost there but not quite. Themes that are *almost* coherent. The violence of spectating? Could’ve gone somewhere from the public trap but never did. Hoffman becoming an inhuman killer - emotionlessly sewing up his own face, going Michael Myers at the end? Could’ve been a reflection on his desire for cruelty and how John used that to turn him into what he is now… but it just comes off as lazy writing. Commentary in the support group scenes on how physically and psychologically traumatized people are pressured to fit a narrative of overcoming and being helped by their trauma + disabilities? Slow Lawrence Gordon clapping from the corner. I don’t know what else to say. That one just kind of got lost.
