assuming Jack was telling the truth and Medda really is "a friend of Jack's father," than Medda knew Jack when he was Francis Sullivan. And if Medda knew Francis Sullivan, than she likely knew Michael too.
just a thought.

For some reason, I can't reblog directly from you @pandolfo-malatesta but I love this!
A little character piece about Sarah Jacobs (Newsies (1992))
Though her knuckles hadn’t split, they bore fresh scabs where her fist had scraped the wall.  She flexed her hand, then clenched it tight, and the resulting throb of pain was satisfying.  Sarah studied her hand, wondering if this—this fleeting pain, this smoldering pride—was how boys felt all of the time.
It was not the violence itself that pleased her, since in the moment she had been more frightened than any other time in her life.  Faced with Morris Delancey crowding her, threats and insinuations oozing from him, she’d trembled with fear.  But at the same time the pit of her stomach had roiled with anger, blossoming quick and hot.  Her pulse had raced with indignation: How dare he threaten her and her brothers?  What gave him the right to treat her—them—anyone that way?  Her fist had clenched without her willing it to, but the blow itself had been deliberate.
Now she wore the dried blood and yellowing bruise as a badge of honor.  If to no one else but her, it proved that she had done her part for the strike, had not just worked but fought, too.  Though the ink had washed off of her hands, the dust brushed from her hair, and the wound would soon heal, nothing could efface her contribution, and pity the fool who tried to deny her her place in the victory.
Sarah knew that certain of their neighbors would believe that she had not acted as a nice young lady should.  Nice young ladies, they would warn, did not stay out all night (even if her father had been told that she would be safe with her brother and Mr. Denton).  Nice young ladies did not punch their attackers (and if they did not, then they would not be nice young ladies much longer anyway). Nice young ladies certainly did not agitate for workers’ rights and encourage rebellion against the city’s powerful elite; they did not rush into unfamiliar workshops, leaflets in hand, insisting “Read this!” to anyone who looked young enough to understand their struggle and join their cause (Read this. See what we’ve done, and what you can do.  Read and be silent no more).  Nice young ladies mended and washed and sewed (until their hands ached).  Sarah didn’t understand how young ladies could be nice if they stood idly by while others suffered.
When she balled her fist again, little crimson beads welled up, lurid against the fading bruise.  From the beginning of time oaths had been bound in blood: Sarah’s was no different.

Normal people: look up an actor to see what other shows they've been in
Me: sees a hot character and immediately researches for fanfiction about them
It's an instinct now.

If there's one thing about Jack Kelly—the man will fight some laundry just before having a romantic conversation with a pretty woman on a rooftop.

woke up in a cold sweat to remind people that while davey has it better than jack and the other newsboys, he is still poor. he is still a child working on the streets. he is still a child who had to drop out of school, put his life on hold, to feed his family. he’s not well-off by any means and i am a little baffled at how many people seem to think he’s the “rich one.” in reality, they were probably struggling for a long time before davey stopped going to school- i can’t imagine esther and mayer would just spring this on him, or even want him to lose his education- and they were using every last penny to make it work but it just wasn’t enough. davey, sarah, and les leaving school was a last resort because the jacobs family is poor. they are poor. davey is not the rich one. davey is not the mom friend just because he has a family. davey is a scared teenage boy who wants to do right by the people he loves, who has the world on his shoulders, who is desperate to help his family out of the hole the systems in power have pushed them into. david jacobs is not the rich one.

“So, we’ve come a long way, but we ain’t there yet and maybe it’s only gonna get tougher from now on. But that’s fine, we’ll just get tougher with it. But also, we gotta get smart and start listening to my pal David, who says ‘stop soakin’ the scabs’.”
