*takes long drag from cigarette* armand & daniel would not replicate loumand's maitre/arun dynamic not because daniel has any aversion to kink or armand wanting to be in a vanilla relationship now but because that dynamic was built on taking the place of authority that armand was in (maitre, coven leader) & offering that to louis, because armand hates being in that place of authority & wants to be young & new again (arun) which shakily louis is as hes much younger than armand & at his time in paris not the part of any coven or a leadership position. armand is no longer maitre, so daniel cannot take up that role because theres no switching of dynamics there. it doesnt make sense. in order to transfer that ethos that makes the maitee/arun dynamic work within armand & daniels relationship there would have to be another symbolic exchange of roles—of daniel taking on the authority that armand has & armand giving that up to him & taking on a role closer to daniels. which is WHY post-turning they would switch the roles of maker (parent) & fledgling (child) sexually, allotting daniel that authority that armand doesnt want (hasnt turned anyone else into a vampire in his 500 years & bailed as soon as he turned daniel) & allotting armand the chance to be coddled & cared for as a 'child' might be. the logical conclusion of this is of course daddy kink,

Sometimes, I have to remind myself the hard facts.

In the book, Armand and young Daniel had been lovers for twelve years, then Armand turned him, and then they parted ways.

In the show, we haven't seen any sort of relationship between them yet and no indication that the Devil's Minion era happened.

And yet the fandom took these morsels and somehow managed to construct the greatest love story of all times! Inevitable, inescapable, all-encompassing love with the strongest bond known to vampirekind.

These two have been through A LOT, so If I wanna headcanon that they are married, and Armand took Daniel's last name, and they go on cute dates together and make each other laugh, and they cuddle while watching movies, and they play Mario Kart together, and then at the end of the night have tender, emotional sex then BY GOD I'm going to.
