something that irks me is the way people try to paint the vampires as either only good or bad, clean-cut in their definitions when they are deeply morally gray and complex. they are old creatures, of both habit and self destructive ways that bleed back into being loving for others. they are intimately human in their vampirism.

such as our brat prince Lestat, he's severely fucked up. it's obvious. yet he does love Louis, he does love Claudia, but loving someone does not mean you can't hurt them. he's been *abused and abandoned, hurt and discarded, gets angry when Loius indulges the same way he does but can't see he [Lestat] himself has become an abuser in his own right.

Claudia ended it [the cycle of abuse] when she plotted to kill him.

They love each other as much as they hate and they hold on to hurt like a lifeline because it's one of the few things that's been with them longer than anyone or anything else.

*which, quite obviously does not excuse such behavior but gives us a point of view about why he acts the way he does, be civil

that face down in the coffin scene with loumand is so fucking creepy, idk how people find it sexy.

- first of all, louis passed several vampires on his way up to armand, asked them about him, and then fucked him so they could hear. that was so performative! especially after 2x04 when they wanted to know if loumand were companions. louis fucked it up both with them and with armand by denying it, so now he's showing them he and armand are together and fucking (so don't try any shit).

- second, louis was more interested in the painting he brought than in armand. he wasn't even looking at armand when he told him to get undressed. that painting being present serves as an echo to another painting, the one in 2x04. louis is not actually interested in armand here, only in the way armand presented himself in 2x04, because the only reason louis is with him now is to manage theatre des vampires and protect claudia. (which is also why louis is being so performative here. his intended audience is the theatre.)

- third, armand mocked his ambitions and his taste in art. he didn't think louis could do business, he didn't like the painting. he was like wtf is that? is that even art? did he throw up on it?

- fourth, armand was editing a script. might as well be THE script for all we know, but even if not, it's exactly like the thing with the painting. it's either THE script or a stand-in. the play is armand's priority, and the play is the underlying reason he's with louis.

- fifth, armand didn't seem to be that excited. neither did louis. which is not surprising considering, well, everything i just wrote.

idk, this whole scene is just. it's like they despise each other.
