The hard part about journaling: forgetting to do it 😓 I decided I wanted to practice my german this evening, so i opened my drawer of resources and started looking through. Decided to take a look at my journal and see what was in there, turned to the bookmarked page to see I completely forgot about the “Ein Satz pro Tag” challenge i made for myself. I’ve missed most of March! Haven’t even made the header or numbers in pen! Funny thing is, the last time I wrote in it was March 8th and the sentence is “Heute schreibe ich “Ein Satz pro Tag” von 18.02 bis 08.03” because i forgot about it in February too!
Truth is journaling is still new to me and not a habit I have. it’s hard to keep up with. I do have a log I keep for every day, marking how I’ve interacted with German (studying, listening, reading, etc).
I made this challenge to get comfortable using more complex language, and to talk about my day. I am okay with not writing in it every day, but i Do want a sentence for each day. Whether I write that sentence the day of or a week later doesn’t matter to me. The “rules” I set for myself are simple:
One sentence for each day of the year
Sentences are entirely from my own head (no outside help)
No corrections the same day as writing. I’ll go through when I’ve learned more and correct them
No repeat sentences
Anyways, i’ll get the hang of this sometime. For now though, I have 2 weeks of sentences to think up 👍 (and if anyone has any tips for a forgetful neurodivergent brain…)

I know there's a literacy crisis or whatever but that doesn't give you the right to go after people with intellectual disabilities and people with brain fog and learning disabilities. Sometimes we need help understanding something, we might ask "dumb/obvious" questions. It doesn't mean we aren't trying to pay attention or use critical thinking. Responding to someone's question on the internet with snobby wisecracks about how the person should learn to read or go back to 1st grade is rude at best and ableist at worst. Just ignore the question if you don't want to answer. Don't flatter yourself saying how progressive you are if you turn around and make fun of your friend for asking a question after a movie.
My partner let's me pause and ask questions during shows and movies bc he loves me and wants me to enjoy what we're watching too instead of sitting there confused cause my brain couldn't catch up. Or I lost attention for a few seconds and missed something important.

It really makes me so damn angry how many autistic/ADHD people treat the neurodivergent label as the autism+adhd label. Neurodivergent includes ANYONE who's brain doesn't work the way it's supposed to. This includes people that have learning disabilities. People with down's syndrome. People with cluster A, B and C disorders. That includes systems/people with DID, that includes schizophrenics, that includes people with PTSD. If you have a group that is labeled for neurodivergent people, you cannot act surprised or offended if people that don't have autism or ADHD but DO have other disorders join that group. Because neurodivergent is an umbrella term. And everyone under that umbrella term deserves to be able to find community in groups named with that umbrella term.
#i made this post in honor of my boyfriend#he had joined a neurodivergent group#and got kicked out when group members found out his diagnoses were ASPD NPD and schizophrenia#like damn he deserves a community too#neurodivergent#neurodiversity#autism#autistic#adhd#downs syndrome#learning disability#schizophrenia#did#dissociative identity disorder#ptsd#complex ptsd#ppd#paranoid personality disorder#schizoid personality disorder#schizotypal personality disorder#aspd#antisocial personality disorder#npd#narcissistic personality disorder#hpd#histrionic personality disorder#bpd#borderline personality disorder#avoidant personality disorder#dependent personality disorder

laws should be written by simple language.
scientific books should be written by simple language.
studies should be written by simple language.
rules & regulations should be written by simple language.
every information, especially important one, should be written by simple language.
it's basic accessibility. people with intellectual disability, people with developmental disabilities, people with learning disabilities, people with language processing issues/language impairment, people with brain fog/low concentration, and people with other conditions that make comprehension difficult should have access to every information, especially important one.
i'm autistic and have some language processing issues. so i feel very isolated when i can't read studies, articles, books, and other info. i'm really interested in it, but can't process language. so i have to rely on others' interpretations instead of original text.
i wanna have access to first-hand information. i wanna have the opportunity to form my own opinion, not rely on others' explanations.
btw, "simple language" doesn't mean "avoid complicated ideas & nuances", it means "explain complicated ideas & nuances using mostly simple words and short sentences".

Story Idea
Telekinetic supervillain who REALLY loves historical architecture. Living in a superhero universe where heroes keep crashing through stained glass windows and leveling entire streets. As well as the normal corruption causing building to be demolished or “restored” in extremely destructive ways.
Kinda has Poison Ivy vibes, without any of the femme fatale trappings - her entire focus is preserving historical valuable buildings, and she doesn’t really care if humans that get in the way die. But she also isn’t going out of her way to kill people.
And the leader of the local superhero team can see where she’s coming from. And decides that just throwing her in jail every time she acts up is a sign they’re failing in their duty to protect the city. Instead, he starts trying to gain her trust. He doesn’t care that much about buildings, but he works on lessening his team’s collateral damage. He promises the supervillain that he’ll try to pressure the city government if she brings problems to him rather than taking them into her own hands. Eventually, he convinces her that she can protect the city’s infrastructure better by being on his team than she can on her own.
She’s incredibly helpful! She will keep burning buildings from collapsing until everyone can get out and the fire is extinguished. She’ll hold skyscrapers up while supervillains reign destruction down around them. She’ll deconstruct traps and grumpily direct her teammates towards the hidden mastermind who set them up. And when the crisis is over, she’ll see what can be salvaged and rebuild it if possible.
But she’s a PR nightmare.
Former Supervillain refuses to help people. She DOES NOT care. Your kid is trapped in the burning building? That is not her problem. Go bother someone else. Dude is holding a bunch of people hostage? It’s fine, he’s not causing any damage to the building he’s in.
People DO NOT like this attitude. People do not accept that she’s part of a team, and other heroes are capable of filling the “empathy” and “human rescuing” gaps.
And she’s high maintenance! The team frequently end up in situations where protecting lives is in conflict with protecting property. They take missions that mean very little to them, because they’re important to her. And the leader is constantly having to talk her out of rampages, pressuring the government to drop lucrative and unethical contracts, and making sure she’s sticking to the plan in the field. And she isn’t interested in interpersonal relationships or social niceties, so none of them are even doing this out of friendship!
-
Sometimes, you help someone not because they’ll be grateful, but because it will make your community better. Sometimes, you help the local drug addict not because he’s likely to turn his life around, but because he smashes less windows when he has a warm, quiet space to stay. And sometimes, keeping that community benefit takes a long term commitment.
I want to see a superhero team turn a villain as harm prevention and then willingly bear the cost of keeping that villain from causing harm. Not because it’s rewarding (though there are rewards) but because it’s more effective than any other method. And I want the villain to go along with it because the heroes actually found a more efficient way for her to reach her goals.
And it being messy for everyone, but I want them to make it work. And it to be worth it, in the end.

You know those teachers who would have posters in their classrooms like “weird is a superpower” and “in a world where you can be anything, be kind” then would proceed to scream at a neurodivergent child until they cried.

Shout out to people who can not tell the time
Shout out to people who need a little longer to figure out the time
Shout out to people who can't do "quick" maths in their head
Shout out to people who need to use a calculator for even "simple" maths
Shout out to people who need others to read number a for them
Shout out to people who cry over maths and numbers
Shout out to people who say the wrong numbers when reading or talking about prices and the time of day
Shout out to people who can't read charts and graphs
Shout out to people who get confused with mathematical concepts
Shout out to people who can't read music because it seems mathematical to them
Shout out to people who's maths struggles limit them
Shout out to people with dyscalculia or math struggles, basically. I am with you. I am here for you. I see you. It sucks, and most of the world doesn't even know about dyscalculia. But it'll be ok. It won't go away but people will help you, you can adapt. I love you. Screw math ❤

A lot of people think my autism is “getting better” but I think a lot of it has to do with being an adult and being able to make my own decisions. I used to have frequent meltdowns and shutdowns and on the outside seemed more “obviously” autistic. But I’m 19 now, so I have a lot more say in my life. I only buy one brand of socks. I only own 2 types of shoes. All of my clothes are the exact same. I only eat what *I* want to eat and think feels safe. I can drive and can choose when to leave for appointments and obligations. If I were still a child and forced to wear socks with seams in the toes or clothes that fit me wrong or foods that trigger my sensory issues or have my routine thrown off by other people, I would have A LOT more issues. But since I’m an adult, I have control over most aspects of my life. I’m not “less autistic” now, I just have more free will and know myself well enough to avoid triggers.
#autism is a neurodevelopmental condition#you’re born with it#it can’t ‘get better’#BUT!!!!!!#and this is a huge but#you CAN learn ways to deal with it better!!!!#you can learn how to cope#and how to work with autism instead of fighting it#let me tell you. if someone forced me to eat peas right now….. I would scream and cry and throw up from a sensory issues meltdown#but I’m an adult so I just. don’t buy or use peas.#and my mom knows me well enough that if she makes a dinner with peas#she just pulls a portion out for me before adding the peas#actually autistic#actually autism#autism#autistic#neurodivergent

No Zero Days 22-31/365
Keine null Tage 22-31/365
My goal is to study German for 30 minutes to an hour every day. Not necessarily in one sitting. I also want to complete 1 chapter from my workbook a week.
In January, I was successful most days! (yay!!) I’m feeling rather proud of myself for this. There were several days where I really didn’t want to do anything, but I managed to at least review flashcards or complete a few lessons in an app. As for my workbook, I usually finish a chapter in 1 sitting, but recently found it more beneficial to split it into 2 or 3.
Session 1: Go through bulk of the chapter, note new words and grammar
Session 2: Complete any writing or speaking activities in the chapter
Session 3: Review & make corrections
I went from working for an hour straight once a week on 1 topic, to 1.5-2 hours within a week and half. Not only can I remember what I learned better, but I began noticing mistakes in previous writing. I usually have 2 sessions within 1 week and count that as having reached my goal. The 3rd session usually ends up being a few minutes, then I move on to whatever else I’m studying. Logging and journaling daily is new to me, and I still haven’t gotten into it, but boy do I get excited when I fill in the colors on my chart.
rambling below
I have been out of work since August and don’t go to school. This is the longest I’ve been without a routine in 10 years. It has been difficult for me to create my own routine and a study plan. I thought having more free time would make learning German easier (completely forgetting that I have mental hindrances). I have been working towards indulging in daily German for 2-3 months now but January has been the first month where I intentionally used or studied German every day for at least 5 minutes. I’m working on using full sentences snd expressing myself. Hopefully I can get more practice in the coming weeks

I HATE tiktok and the Internet in general rn for the obsession with "oh this person's smellyyy" "Brother it STINKS over here" "BOO 💧🧼🧽🚿" and stuff like that. I wish I could put into words how demeaning and patronising that whole idea is and people implying anyone they don't like doesn't wash.
For one there's something grating about being insulted in a manner like we're in nursery again. But also WHY is that the go to insult. Why do you associate these things? Especially to those you deem "chronically online". Like I don't want to sound pathetic but it feels so nasty to me.
is it extreme to say this feels tied to ableism? And classism too?
#“take a shower” me sitting here with depression and no will to even move rn. That doesnt make me feel worse or anything#dry to wet change is also evil. and i get decision paralysis a lot and just struggle to motivate myself to do basic human tasks#and thats just me#what about the people with physical disabilities that struggle to find the energy and strength to do these things#And also like environmental factors too?#like kids can be unhygienic cause they arent being cared for and learning properly#people with learning disabilities and neurodiversity too may struggle with not being taught properly as its a “basic thing everyone knows”#people are homeless karen.#people cant afford to wash regularly#people grow up or are forced to live in unhygienic places and surrounded by smokers and alcoholics#people who are smokers and alcoholics and generally people with addiction can smell#people with health issues that cause them to sweat more#Like the list goes on#but idk maybe I'm just sensitive#anti anti#profiction#proship#neurodivergent#cringe culture#ableism#classism

What a lot of people don't understand about navigating the "real world" as a neurodivergent person is that we were told all the rules of society growing up that we naturally followed, only to find out later just how often neurotypical people are either breaking those rules or operating off completely unwritten ones to get themselves ahead and that somehow ND's are the "dumbasses" for not realizing that these unwritten rules and rule-breaking is the "norm" despite that norm going against all the rules and values that were drilled into us from birth that we were expected and predisposed to follow.
#just two cents from a neurodivergent trying to live in a neurotypical's world#it's been a harrowing experience learning just how much i was taught to navigate the real world isn't done in practice at ALL#the majority of hollywood is built on nepotism#many successful “gurus” within their respective industries are complete shams who either failed upwards or broke the “rules” to get there#many of these industries are simply built on socializing and knowing people rather than actual skill or capabilities#it's like the adult equivalent of “lmao you really BELIEVED that lie i just told you that you took in good faith??? you're so gullible!!!”
