Random PSA to folks with or without kids:
Hey luvs. I'd like to ask a favor of you (this is just in general, not right now). If you happen to see an adult screaming "stop" or "wait" or a name, while a child is far away from them running. Please consider stepping in and if nothing else, just slowing the child down.
I had a really bad experience today while out trying to get into nature. My son went for a walk with me, he's 5 and autistic. He's really good at following safety instructions until he starts getting tired and then he'll stop listening. Normally I'm able to catch up with him, but I have really bad periods and today was the first day of it this month... and I couldn't move as fast, even with the adrenaline.
I went almost half a mile sprinting as fast as I could chasing and yelling trying to get him to stop because we were getting up to an intersection. I had at least 8 bicyclists pass me, 2 of which were nasty because I didn't get out of their way fast enough, and ignored me when I yelled I was trying to stop my child who had gotten away from me.
Finally, he slowed down enough for me to catch up, but it was really scary, and being ignored by other humans was really rough. I realize we have to worry about potentially children being abducted so it may be a little weird to block the kids, way, but he and most kids in that state arent running scared, they're laughing and just happy and its getting away with them. I think if we'd have gotten to the road and he ran someone may have helped but it was terrifying and I ended up over extending myself really bad trying to make sure he was okay.
Anyway, if you would be so kind to extend that kindness to someone who's obviously struggling, I'd appreciate it. It's not always easy to tell if a kid is neurodivergent, and you just never know what kind of struggle someone is having. So if you hear an adult yelling wait and stop, please consider helping <3
Thanks luvs, sorry for the non fan-related content, I just really needed to get this out because it's bubbled up pretty bad inside me.
<3

For my children’s illustration class we had to make a project of emotion. It could be an emotion children feel or that you felt during childhood. I choose Exhaustion.
School can be very tough and exhausting to many kids. Especially with neurodivergent kids. As a person who got diagnosed late with ADHD, I remember my elementary school days were tiring and also very spacey. I was constantly distracted, and no matter how hard I tried I had a hard time paying attention, and trying to get work done was nightmare. So I created an illustration with my ocs to show that feeling of exhaustion and that spaciness ADHD will make you feel.

I did this thing where i told other kids in my class i was an alien and that's why I don't understand some things "in this planet" but instead of being okay with it they just made fun of me
As a child were you the “I’m an alien and I don’t understand human things” neurodivergent or the “I’m not supposed to be here I’m actually supposed to get whisked away to another world where I’m the chosen one” neurodivergent

i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.
as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."
NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING

Learning that fans hated Applejack and called her "boring" is crazyyy to me because I genuinely, unironically believe AJ's the most complex character in the main six.
Backstory-wise, she was born into a family of famers/blue collar workers who helped found the town she lives in. She grew up a habitual liar until she had the bad habit traumatized outta her. She lost both her parents and was orphaned at a young age, having to step up as her baby sister's mother figure. She's the only person in the main gang who's experienced this level of loss and grief (A Royal Problem reveals that AJ dreams about memories of being held by her parents as a baby). She moved to Manhattan to live with her wealthy family members, only to realize she'll never fit in or be accepted, even amongst her own family. The earlier seasons imply she and her family had money problems too (In The Ticket Master, AJ wants to go to the gala to earn money to buy new farm equipment and afford hip surgery for her grandma).
Personality-wise, she's a total people-pleaser/steamroller (with an occasional savior complex) who places her self worth on her independence and usefulness for other people, causing her to become a complete workaholic. In Applebuck Season, AJ stops taking care of herself because of her obsessive responsibilities for others and becomes completely dysfunctional. In Apple Family Reunion, AJ has a tearful breakdown because in she thinks she dishonored her family and tarnished her reputation as a potential leader –– an expectation and anxiety that's directly tied to her deceased parents, as shown in the episode's ending scene. In The Last Roundup, AJ abandons her family and friends out of shame because believes she failed them by not earning 1st place in a rodeo competition. She completely spirals emotionally when she isn't able to fulfill her duties toward others. Her need to be the best manifests in intense pride and competitiveness when others challenge her. And when her pride's broken, she cowers and physically hides herself.
Moreover, it's strongly implied that AJ has a deep-seated anger. The comics explore her ranting outbursts more. EQG also obviously has AJ yelling at and insulting Rarity in a jealous fit just to hurt her feelings (with a line that I could write a whole dissection on). And I'm certain I read in a post somewhere that in a Gameloft event, AJ's negative traits are listed as anger.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Subtextually, a lot of these flaws and anxieties can be (retroactively) linked to her parents' death, forcing her to grow up too quickly to become the adult/caregiver of the family (especially after her big brother becomes semiverbal). Notice how throughout the series, she's constantly acting as the "mom friend" of the group (despite everything, she manages to be the most emotionally mature of the bunch). Notice how AJ'll switch to a quieter, calmer tone when her friends are panicking and use soothing prompts and questions to talk them through their emotions/problems; something she'd definitely pick up while raising a child. Same with her stoicism and reluctance at crying or releasing emotions (something Pinkie explicitly points out). She also had a childhood relationship with Rara (which, if you were to give a queer reading, could easy be interpreted as her first 'aha' crush), who eventually left her life. (Interestingly enough, AJ also has an angry outburst with Rara for the same exact reasons as with EQG Rarity; jealous, upset that someone else is using and changing her). It's not hard to imagine an AJ with separation anxiety stemming from her mother and childhood friend/crush leaving. I'm also not above reading into AJ's relationship with her little sister (Y'all ever think about how AB never got to know her parents, even though she shares her father's colors and her mother's curly hair?).
AJ's stubbornness is a symptom of growing up too quickly as well. Who else to play with your baby sister when your brother goes nonverbal (not to discount Big Mac's role in raising AB)? Who else to wake up in the middle of the night to care for your crying baby sister when your grandma needs her rest? When you need to be 100% all the time for your family, you tend to become hard-stuck with a sense of moral superiority. You know what's best because you have to be your best because if you're aren't your best, then everything'll inevitably fall apart and it'll be your fault. And if you don't know what's best –– if you've been wrong the whole time –– that means you haven't been your best, which means you've failed the people who rely on you, which means you can't fulfill your role in the family/society, which makes you worthless . We've seen time and time again how this compulsive need to be right for the sake of others becomes self-destructive (Apple Family Reunion, Sound of Silence, all competitions against RD). We've seen in The Last Roundup how, when no longer at her best, AJ would rather remove herself from her community than confront them because she no longer feels of use to them.
But I guess it is kinda weird that AJ has "masculine" traits and isn't interested in men at all. It's totally justified that an aggressively straight, misogynistic male fandom would characterize her as a "boring background character." /s

tim is still 17 because he is fae.
thats my new theory. i mean just look at his unsettling inhumanly blue eyes. thats a creature right there my guy. he hasn't aged physically but trust me he is at least 100 years old, that's a fae child right there.
he's been interested in Batman since he first appeared on the scene, he has newspaper clippings from when the Joker made his big entrance, he was there for all of Batman's early mistakes, he was there at the circus when Dick's parents fell.
there is almost a century knowledge behind those odd, reflective eyes. he knows things a 17 year old shouldn't, he has reflexes not even Batman himself has.
he moves wrong. something about him is just off. his team mates have it within good reason to think of him as some sort of Gotham cryptid.
Dick is convinced it's just autism because all the other bats are lmao. (it's a good cover for Tim so he goes along with it.)

“Therapy is for broken people, and our Adrien is PERFECT!” Aside from the inherent nastiness and problems of BOTH of the independent clauses in that sentence, considering how much Emilie is concerned with her public image as well as her image among the people in her Inner Circle, I wonder how it’ll affect her as she continues to drop little nuggets like that when she starts being seen as (and ESPECIALLY treated as) if not a Boy Mom or an Ableist Mom, at the very least an Innocently Insensitive Mom minus the coddling attitude someone like her would hope “naturally” comes with that title.
I mean, if OG, Canon Emilie went so far as to give herself Magic Wasting Disease by using a broken Miraculous to invent the Perfect™️ Obedient Prodigy Child that Literally Cannot Disobey and Has No "Flaws" instead of, you know...adoption...
I definitely see her as the kind of person who can't handle a "broken" child that might, idk, need some help?

I absolutely love the Cunning Hares in Zenless cause their whole dynamic is:
A girl that tries to act serious but is actually just a huge fucking dork
A Trigun looking motherfucker who loves the power rangers and canonically has the tramp stamp 'A55' pointing at his ass
A cat girl
and their struggling single mom

I HATE tiktok and the Internet in general rn for the obsession with "oh this person's smellyyy" "Brother it STINKS over here" "BOO 💧🧼🧽🚿" and stuff like that. I wish I could put into words how demeaning and patronising that whole idea is and people implying anyone they don't like doesn't wash.
For one there's something grating about being insulted in a manner like we're in nursery again. But also WHY is that the go to insult. Why do you associate these things? Especially to those you deem "chronically online". Like I don't want to sound pathetic but it feels so nasty to me.
is it extreme to say this feels tied to ableism? And classism too?

Near warmups from today
I like to imagine post-canon Near has to attend interviews for god knows what every now and then (he's not just doing detective work but I dunno develops new technologies or something, wins prizes) and his neurodivergent autistic ass behaves as strangely as Aurora does in her interviews

The autistic Stolas headcanon puts so much into perspective. Like whether Viv intended it to be this way or not, this can definitely be interpreted as an autistic man not understanding social cues and lacking empathy which his neurotypical antis just don't understand.

It's not an excuse, but this is what I mean when I say everybody babies autistic people until it comes to the uglier parts they can't romanticize
