Since I just started a new James RP account, I’ve decided that I am now gonna list out all my headcanons of James' relationships with Marauders-era characters!

-----------------The marauders-------------

Sirius

They are fucking in love in a way that transcends the labels of "romantic" and "platonic." It's just this indescribable pure LOVE. They are codependent and clingy; they climb into each other's beds at night and cry (usually Sirius into James' bed).

Remus

James was Remus's mum. He spoiled Remus rotten, made sure he was eating, healthy, and sleeping! He was genuinely one of the greatest things ever to happen to Remus. James and Lily used to sneak into Remus's house and stock his pantry with food, no matter how much he refused. They just loved him too much.

Peter

Childhood friends! Peter looks up to James, and James was like the big brother Peter never had (he has an older sister- HC). In turn, Peter was the younger brother James (the only child) always wanted! They are genuinely so sweet. Peter helps keep James in check, and he understands James in just such an intimate way— a way only people who have known each other since birth could (cue Sirius being a bit jelly).

----------------The Valkyries---------------------

Mary

I feel like Mary and James might not have been SUPER close, but they just had this vibe and understanding between each other that was easily seen by anyone watching. They had such an ease that rivaled James and Sirius, but like, no one would ever guess they were actual hangout friends?? Plus, I feel like Mary one day stuck up a picture strip of her & James when Lily and Marlene would be like, "when did that happen??" and Mary’s like, "Oh, just the other day when we hung out? I have more from earlier, but these are my favs." Then Lily and Marlene are confused 'cause they didn't know Mary and James even hung out within a non-group setting???

Marlene

OMFG, her and James were definitely childhood besties, alongside Peter?? Like, imagine lil adorable James, Marlene, and Peter running around causing mischief??? James and Marlene are definitely gossip gals//?

Lily

Once James stopped asking her out and started just being her friend, omfg, they would have the best friendship?? JAMES LOOKS UP TO AND VALUES LILY'S OPINION SO MUCH, AND LILY JUST LOVES HIM SO MUCH ONCE SHE LEARNS HOW SWEET HE IS?? Like whispered comments and laughs to eachother at the back of the class when once it would’ve been loud proclamations of love from James??

----- Slytherin Skittles---------

PLEASE, I NEED MORE FANART AND FANFIC THAT EXPLORES JAMES AND THE SLYTHERIN SKITTLES??? I feel like James would be a welcomed and beloved member of the Slytherin Skittles the same way Dorcas is a beloved and welcomed member of the Gryffindors??

Barty<3

They would just get along so well, like banter and fake flirting and shit??? To me, Barty has always been pretty similar to Sirius, and like, c'mon, James can definitely vibe pretty fucking well with someone similar to Sirius?? They probably love getting drunk together, and Barty loves teasing James about how Reg and Barty used to fuck?? Also like BPD james and BPD barty bonding??? James and Barty would be pookies?? argue with the wall???

Evan

In my own HC (’cause Evan has a lot of different personalities depending on the fic, compared to like Regulus, marlene, and Pandora who are much more consistent), I think Evan is more like Remus in that quiet, snarky demeanor but has a wild streak that Barty brings out. So, I feel like James and Evan would be those types of friends who you might not talk too much but still have that underlying bond and love talking to. James would be hanging with Regulus in his dorm when Barty and Reg would leave the room for a few minutes to do something, and they'd come back to their boyfriends talking animatedly about Quidditch or like the latest gossip.

Pandora

Please give me James getting all these foreboding warnings from Pandora and kinda just being like, "Okay, 👍." Like, even Reg gets a bit impatient with all the cryptic warnings Pandora gives, but James literally gives zero fucks. He will listen to Pandora yap vaguely about some dream for hours as they make flower crowns and braid each other's hair.

Dorcas

Please, Dorcas is so the older sister James never had? Whenever James needs some advice that he can't ask for from the Marauders, he always goes to Dorcas, and they have a good drink as they talk. (Also, I feel like they got especially close once Dorcas started hanging with the Gryffindors.)

Regulus

Must I explain James' relationship with the love of his fucking life? I think my blog is pretty self-explanatory about how I feel on this. (I’m not bothered typing a 500-word essay describing them again.)

And James made sure each of them went to bed smiling.

Regulus was the mum friend in a "chasing you around the house screaming at you to not put forks in the plug sockets" way.

Evan had no regard for safety, his own or others.

Barty has no impulse control.

Pandora did dangerous experiments on a daily basis.

Dorcas would do just about anything if you paid her enough.

And Regulus was just trying to keep those fucking idiots alive.

Barty: My names Barty and I was imperioed by my dad for most of my life, until I became crazy, and I brought twizzlers

Evan: My names Evan and I was forced by my parents to join a cult and I brought rainbow laces cause we’re all fruity

Pandora: My names Pandora and I can see the future so I saw all of my friends and family die and I brought skittles

Dorcas: My names Dorcas and my girlfriend was killed by one of my oldest friends and then I had to go face to face with the leader of the cult and I brought airheads

Lily: My names lily and my sister hated me for most of my life and I had a horrible toxic best friend who called me slurs and I brought nerds

Marlene: My names Marlene and I was killed by my best friend, my sister was also kidnapped and tortured and I brought Reeces

Mary: My names Mary and I was obliviated by my headteacher and I don’t remember why and I brought squashies
