I should watch it when it comes out' and then forgot about it#but recently someone I follow was reblogging and posting stuff about this show and it reminded me of this show but still didnt watch it#but then last friday I took a nap so I'd have energy to stay up the whole night doing something. Sonic X Shadow Takeover Analyzer (Part 2)
I was so excited to hear this Takeover since it is only Sonic and Shadow talking to each other and answering question. It is one of those times where you get to see their dynamic without anyone else's input.
Since I feel like I could write an essay about these two, I decided to instead put all my thoughts into bullet points, this being Part 2 of my list:
Obligatory ''Shadow likes Latinas'' joke.
I love how Sonic sees their rivalry as a friendly competition, even describing it as being two sides of the same coin and pushing each other to be better. Shadow points out how he fights because he has a purpose and he will fight Sonic if their ideals clash. Sonic isn't buying it, though. He really wants to make it clear that his presence is important to Shadow and he wants to hear that from Shadow himself. Shadow finally agrees, with Sonic sounding so proud of himself.
Addendum: Considering how the cutscene battle in Sonic X Shadow Generations went, Shadow definitely can't resist fighting Sonic to best him, regardless of his own goals. Their rivalry gives him purpose.
''GO OFF KING!!'' Sonic, what?! X3
Shadow goes on a rant about Super Monkey Ball, with Sonic immediately trying to apologize for the whole thing. It's hilarious!
''THOSE MONKEYS NEED TO PUT ON SOME PANTS!!'' Shadow, you don't even wear pants.
I love how when Sonic and Shadow talk about Jet, Sonic immediately turns the question to be about their rivalry, pointing out how their little competition is why Shadow keeps Sonic around. Shadow just groans in exasperation, but we all know Sonic's telling the truth.
Black Doom really has an obsession with Radical Highway. I suppose Radical Highway is to Shadow what Green Hill Zone is to Sonic. Also, love how Shadow retorts to Sonic's ''Radical'' pun by calling him ''Mr. Green Hill Zone''.
When they're asked to draw something, their immediate response is to draw each other, with Sonic even trying to give some input to Shadow. They're not the best at it, though; something they wholeheartedly agree on.
Shadow is so proud to have his Year, and Sonic likes it too, to the point of showering him with constant compliments. Shadow enjoys it, but claims how he's not ''seeking attention''. Nobody's buying that Shadow.
Sonic Shuffle get mentioned!!
Shadow played chess with Maria, which is really nice. Also, if Sonic ever plays chess with Shadow, he'd totally be the guy who eats the chess pieces, much to Shadow's confusion. Also, the fact that Shadow claims how Sonic would lose on purpose to annoy him is both hilarious and also kinda sweet, considering how Sonic has been acting in this whole Takeover.
Fadel is back and trying to get into either Team Hero or Team Dark... and Sonic and Shadow clearly refuse to have him on their teams. I find it hilarious how Sonic immediately directs him to Team Dark and Shadow claims how applications are closed, then points him at Team Hero and gaslights Sonic into reluctantly accepting Fadel into the team.
I actually watched Games Cage's reaction to that, and he is completely oblivious to the fact that Sonic is being passive-aggressive by mentioning how Tails called dibs on their only parachute, meaning Sonic is cool with letting the guy fall off the Tornado. X3
Sonic is so persistent about wanting to hug Shadow! I get Sonic Prime vibes from this and I'm loving it.
''I don't need... your kind of hugs.'' There's two things I can conclude from this:
Shadow only likes the hugs Maria and Amy gave.
Shadow actually would be fine with Sonic hugging him, but they have to be meaningful rather than fleeting considering his earlier comment. Sonic is totally oblivious to that, though.
Sonic Boom ''Shadow broods in a cave'' reference!
Besides training, Shadow's hobby is reading. He's a bookworm, and Sonic sounds so excited about learning that. I can totally see Sonic thinking about dragging Shadow into another Storybook Adventure.
Shadow's first time turning Super was still him learning how to control that power. It explains why he ran out of energy back then, while Sonic had more experience and could keep it longer. Sonic also keeps complimenting Shadow about looking cool in his Super Form, even calling him wise for pointing out how that power needs to be controlled.
WHY DOES SONIC HAVE ABRAHAM TOWER ON SPEED DIAL?!
Shadow definitely doesn't work for G.U.N. That's something that has been confirmed. I have to say, the whole conversation between the Commander and Shadow was really awkward, but the kicker is Sonic's being oblivious to the whole awkwardness. He is so proud that he arranged a call between them.
I love how Sonic's neutral opinion about Orbot changes immediately the moment he hears Shadow's own thoughts on the robot. Once Shadow says he dislikes Orbot, Sonic immediately agrees with him, and when Orbot offers to get them coffee, causing Shadow to like him, Sonic also agrees that Orbot is fine. This really feels like Sonic wants Shadow's approval by agreeing with his opinions.
Sonic and Shadow are arguing about who is better at raising their Chao. They legit sound like married couple arguing about how to take care of their children. Sonic is definitely the fun dad, while Shadow has to take care of the discipline.
Shadow doesn't believe in ghosts, despite Sonic pointing out how they ran into paranormal stuff several times. Sonic also tries to scare him a couple of times, with Shadow showing no reaction.
Shadow's favorite Doom Power is Doom Morph, and Sonic is a little jealous of that form once he hears more about it. The fact that Shadow just keeps bragging about it and annoying Sonic is hilarious.
''Skill issue!'' Lol, Shadow. I can imagine Sonic rolling his eyes at that comment.
Shadow scolds the person who listens to the Twitter Takeover instead of studying for their exam. He really cares about their education, while Sonic points out how he needs to lighten up.
Let's be honest, Sonic and Shadow definitely love hanging out with each other, admitting it in their own way that they care about each other.
I believe that this Takeover proves that Sonic and Shadow really have a good dynamic when they sit down and hang out with each other. They bicker, they tease each other, they come to agreements and disagreements, they care... It is so enjoyable to listen to them and I'm looking forward to seeing more!
Oh, and yeah, this was a feast for the Sonadow fans, if you ask me. I hope you guys will enjoy my notes, because I'm definitely going to take advantage of all the new information I got. I can't wait for the meal we'll get once the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie comes out.

Sonic: Hey, hey, Trivial is a game from this world. And who’s been in this world the longest, not counting you, mustachioed guy? That’s right, me. Tails: With all due respect, Sonic, Trivial has more categories than just movies and entertainment. Sonic: Well, Tails I wasn't saying anything bad about you, buddy. You’re somewhat good. Tails: … Somewhat good? Somewhat? Oh! Pride comes before the fall, Sonic. Sonic: And humility never goes out of style. I’m the one who taught you everything. Where have you ever seen a student surpass their master? Knuckles: Wait, have we already started playing? Sonic [gets up and returns with the board and pieces]: No. Now we’re starting to play. [to Tails]: You’re about to learn a lesson. Robotnik: Yes, that's the spirit! We’re going to wipe the floor with you, fox! Sonic: Hey! He’s still my little brother, and I love him, okay? Tails: That’s right, Sonic, [leans in menacingly]: keep loving me lots! That’s your greatest weakness! Robotnik: That’s what I always tell him. Clearly, we’re kindred spirits. Amy: …So, are we playing clockwise? Robotnik: Perfect. Where’s the die…? Sonic: No, no, give the die to me. Rolling it is too much responsibility. [rolls the die]: Let’s see… your question is Arts and Literature. What was the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens? Tails: Mark Twain. Sonic [through gritted teeth]: Yeah, correct. Tails: Take that! My turn! Amy: But based on how we’re sitting, it’s-- Tails [consumed by rivalry, grabs a card]: History. Year of the fall of the Roman Empire. Sonic: 476 AD. Tails: Damn you! Sonic: See? Don’t say I don’t listen when you go on about your books ever again! Hand me the die! Amy: But Knuckles and I— Knuckles: Shut up, Amy. That way we don’t lose points. We’ll win without doing anything! Amy: … [Sonic and Tails continue asking and answering, ignoring the others] Tails: Capital of Portugal? Sonic: Lisbon. What was the first feature-length talking movie with sound? Tails: The Jazz Singer. The Baseball Hall of Fame is located in which city? Sonic: Cooperstown. Dihydrogen monoxide is a chemical name for what substance? Tails: Water! Michael Myers is the villain of which horror movie franchise? Sonic: Halloween. The Orca is also known as what? Tails: Killer whale! [Some time later, both are gasping. Tails grabs a card] Tails: Final question. If you get it right, you win. If not, you’ll prove my theory of your intellectual inferiority. No pressure. Sonic: Shoot! Tails: Name the father of evolutionary psychology. Sonic: It’s… Oh… Tails: Oh? Oh what? Sonic: I… I don’t know it. Tails: Oh, you don’t know it? Aww, and the last question too, what a shame… Sonic: Hmm, I’ll guess it… Jean Piaget! Tails: What!? How the hell do you know that!? Sonic: Because Maddie has books by that guy all over the house! And look, even though he wouldn’t agree with this… nah-nah-nah! I won! I won! …Wait, where is everyone? [Sonic and Tails look around to see empty chairs. At the next table, the group is playing Operation]

Why do you personally ship, like, or appreciate Sonamy? What got you into Sonamy? What’s your favorite moment between the two?
Why do I ship Sonamy?
Okay, ima admit it..for someone who is a diehard sonamy fan, and thinks about AND ONLY about them literally every waking second, I can not think of ONE reason why I ship them to begin with….
“So you just ship them for basically no reason WHY?!” Pretty much 😅
And I’ve seen so many other people give their really good reasons and opinions on why they ship sonamy, and I full on agree with ‘em, but as for myself, I rack up nothing…and it’s my favourite ship too I mean come onnn TwT
I’ve also had my sister ask me this same question not long ago, and all I could do was just sit there and think “Damn your life almost revolves around these 2 HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE AN ANSWER?!” I constantly beat myself up for this because I know I should 😭
And I mean, stuff like being the dynamic duo that they are, (whether in battle or not) their attitude and affection for each other evolving over time, respecting the other’s wants and needs, respecting boundaries (kinda the same thing tbh lol) , enjoying each others company, and just how the whole idea of sonamy has turned from what some people may see as “toxic” or “forced” (that might be the better word for it) from early 2000s media, to something more laid back and healthy like recent media because of all the character development over the years… etc, etc…are all fantastic reasons, and even reasons I would now apply as to why I love the ship even more…BUT they’re not the reasons I began to ship them in the first place, because these things I NEVER took into consideration when I starting doing so.
To put a long story short, I just saw pink and blue hedgies and was like, “ooooh I sense chemistry”
I feel like I could be going no where with all this. But all I’m tryna say is that I LIKE sonamy simply because of who they are…just a speedy blue boi and his hammer-wielding pink girlie. I APPRECIATE them solely because of their existence, especially in my life. They are like- one of the few things I ever look forward to these days. I SHIP them because unlike any other ship that has sonic or amy in it, sonamy just… “works” (I don’t know how to explain it but you know what I mean right??) And despite not being canon, (YET! 😏) they have got to be the closest ship to becoming canon (besides vectilla) ..unless I’m just biased :p
What got me into Sonamy?
Well, I did kinda just answer this in the previous question lol but I have to elaborate!
So yeah it started off with just seeing them 2 together and thought “I like where this is going hehe” tho tbh it never really went anywhere…because I was watching Sonic Boom at the time XD, the first piece of Sonic media I consumed since regaining an interest in the franchise. AND WE ARE NOT going back to like 2015 or 16 when I first discovered Sonic…idek what I did regarding shipping back then…I think I like shipped blaze and shadow or something OH LAWD-
Also to think that those short lived Sonamy moments in Boom didn’t even bother me in the slightest?! Present me is disgusted by such lack of interest or care! 😫
Okay okay I’m straying from the question, I’m sorry!!
There are a few things that got me hooked on Sonamy. First was definitely the tv series’. Boom, Prime and X all had adorable and wholesome moments that I could’ve almost died of cuteness from! Some of it was also hilarious too. In Sonic boom for instance, sonic and Amy would fight like a married couple lololol
Another thing (and this was the game changer) was the fanart and animatics. These became the addiction for me; one comic would lead to me reading another, which lead me to read another and so on. Or I’d find an animatic on YT and watch that and then begin scavenging trying to find more animatics to feed these cravings of sonamy I was beginning to gain all of a sudden.
And it just got worse and worse to the point I practically need a daily dose of Sonamy or I just might go feral
But I mean, how could I not?! YOU GUYS ARE SO GOSH DARN TALENTED AKJDJSJDND
Sadly now my food hath runneth dry over the months…so if any of u like come across anything sonamy pls don’t hesitate to tag me or send it to me pls I need it ajhshsjs
On top of all that, came the brainrot. My growing love for this ship and all the incredible media really sent me into a serious Sonamy delulu era. Literally almost ANYTHING can send me into deep thoughts about those 2, no kidding. I literally planned out in my head an entire story of them a couple days ago. Sometimes it’s a head canon or 2, other times just something extremely wholesome I’ll imagine them do and I’ll be deceased. Those rats live in my head rent free omg-
As I said, ANYTHING can trigger this brainrot; a song, a scene, a quote, a random object…you name it, I’ll come up with a Sonamy headcanon in relation to it.
I can’t also forget other sonic media that also boosted it like game cutscenes and IDW. Lately IDW has been CARRYING it for me with the little Sonamy moments like in the 900th adventure, #67 and other tidbits I’d find in former issues. The amount of frames I’ve seen of them hugging warms my heart waaa🥺🥺
Overall, this fandom has really impacted me and my love for Sonamy. (and sonic in general) all the things I’ve learnt and discovered have made me love them all the more because of it. My life has almost become an Sonamy aesthetic now…I am NOT joking when I tell you my PJs are Sonamy coded, and that was hardly intentional…🤣
Favourite Sonamy moment?
Arrghhh why just one?? Pretty much ANY moment involving those 2 cotton candy hedgies are bound to be my favourite!
Totally not saying this cuz I can’t pick a favourite *cough cough*
Take this, it’s the only Sonamy image I really have in my photo album rn.. (I should be in jail for this)
Its one of my favs so it counts :)
Woowee that just about covers it! Now you know all about my weird and wonderweird love for my favourite ship :D 🩷💙

As fun and cathartic it can be to be a hater about parts of official media you don't like at times, like a few of the noncanon adaptions in mine and few other's cases, I feel like some people are kinda starting to lose sight of what it means to be a Sonic fan in the process. I know I probably don't sound much different from concern trolls but I am kinda concerned tbh because it can't be a nice feeling and experience for them and I think they'd be happier if they were just aware
Because it's almost like they're kinda making being a fan only this miserable and frustrating thing that consists of constantly being angry and bitter towards the things they don't like and losing sight of the things they do. To the point all their discussion mostly consists of complaining about what they don't like and feeling this sense of doom about the series as a whole. And spending more time entertaining angry people and trolls that want a reaction and love to get more things out of you to bitch about and if you continue to feed them directly, they especially definitely won't let up, since they also do it when you aren't talking to them
It's never your fault in the first place for having an opinion and expressing it freely and someone coming along and being an asshole about it but it doesn't help if you are directly engaging with them on top of that. Speaking from experience as I've faced TONS of long winding harassment, it stops once I stop replying and never reply again when they keep trying. It's not even that you can't ever say anything at all, it's just knowing when to leave it at that and walk away. You can say what you want once and decide you're not going to give them any more time after
And Idk, if your most consistent feelings about the series are overwhelmingly negative these days and you don't have feel that passion for discussion of it unless it's in complaining about what you don't like, or you mostly can't find things you do still like about pretty much any area of the series, I wonder if it's worth it to still be a fan any more or at least exist in the fandom as one in any capacity. Simply speaking from what I'd do in that situation rather than trying to demand it of others, but I can't fathom wanting to still make only negative posts and arguing and getting mountains of hate, thus only increasing your bitterness and stress. And even ending up fighting with or resenting people you befriended or were aquainted with when they like something you don't too
And I hate to say it but at a certain point, is it really much different from those we once criticized for hating every game out of bias and what they've been told by others instead of playing the games they were hating on? And how they can't praise what they do like more than they can put down what they don't like when they say an adaption is better than canon thing that apparently sucks so bad? Have I stopped experiencing any new joy from this series to the point maybe it's time to withdraw from both the things I like and don't like about it and not give it my energy anymore? This is what I would ask myself to come to the decision on whether it's worth it anymore. But I don't feel that way because my love and passion for the series prevails and is still actively fueled
I'm not saying you aren't entitled to your feelings and opinions and trying to force you to feel and think a certain way. Of course I love to analyze and relay facts about the games and I'm very happy if it does give someone a new perspective and it's always nice to find more people who agree and relate and that unity but I'm not trying to force it. It's moreso a matter of whether your hatred and bitterness is consuming you and stealing your focus and energy over talking about the things you do like. Perhaps there isn't anything left you still like at that point but if there isn't, it's best to just step back from what you don't like too for true piece of mind rather than still getting worked up about what you don't like if you hardly ever have those times of gushing passionately anymore and the spark is gone
And I'm all for people criticizing and ranting about what they don't like, I've had more than my fair share. I did cut back on it significantly in public spaces because it genuinely benefitted me and my mental health and made my blog more positive and enjoyable for people which is my preferred experience. But I know people who have plenty to still criticize and want about publicly and haven't cut down at all like me but still have tons of passion and positive feelings to talk about just as much. That way you can tell that the former comes from a place of passion too, because they still actively love the series. So I don't feel sad or concerned seeing their complaints, it makes sense
But when it comes to hardly liking anything about the series source at all anymore after once doing so and putting most time and energy into ranting, complaining, arguing, and feeding trolls, it kind of just seems like it only comes from a place of hatred and bitterness and being consumed by it rather than passion as it seems to be the only thing that actively fuels them still. Not to say it didn't start with that for them too but like they've sort of lost sight along the way and it is kinda sad to see because I want them to be happy. Not out of forcing them to like the series but knowing when it's maybe time to step back
And maybe this will come off the wrong way so I want to clarify again that I'm not trying to tell people what to say and do on their own blogs or how to think or feel but these are my genuine thoughts and feelings as a spectator but you certainly don't have to bend to my will. Of course I can curate my experience to block out what I don't want to see and I do, but there many times it still shows up on my dash from people I unfollowed and sometimes you get so many filtered posts on your dash you click a little to see what's going on yknow
Anyway that's all I wanted to say on this and have been wanting to for a while but I was very wary of how it might be taken the wrong way but I feel I need to take that risk more often because I know my true intentions in it and how it really does only come from a place of concern and care

You're the first person above the age of 18 I've ever seen share my opinion of Archie Sonic :D
hopefully this is about the part where I said that it is a beautiful piece of media with no equivalent because I believe this wholeheartedly - it's the comic that got me into comics when I was a kid and i wouldn't have as much love for the medium without it <3
its got this fascinating blend of action, interpersonal drama, political intrigue, and mishandled real world parallels while being a very loose adaptation of a video game, but across all three major lead writers you never get the sense that this isn't their most genuine passion project. they all really care about the characters and world and put a lot of themselves into it, maybe too much so in penders work - but in those cases you get this weird autobiography about his family and taste in media as told through knuckles the echidna.
imho if you are in your 20s+ and have even a light interest in sonic and are looking for some truly Different media to pick apart then I would recommend reading archie sonic - @thankskenpenders has a good reading order on her blog!
side note I do also enjoy the idw sonic comics but for very different reasons, they're a lot closer to the games which I like but the games' world feels very small at this point in time..!
#YES I like sonic media for the PLOT#you cannot get me to watch boom or prime because they didnt hire a FREAK to direct either of them#sonic the hedgehog#archie sonic

HOW IS THE NINTENDO DS 20 YEARS OLD!??!
Oh... oh the back pain is kicking in... oh i feel the grey hairs growing....
God, i remember my first ever experience with this thing, i got a red and black DS Lite on my birthday as a child and a copy of god damn Spider-Man Friend or Foe.
My DS days were just me and several R4 cards that my mum got at flea markets, i remember seeing buckets of those damn cards man, and i loved them. They had cheats, so many games, ugh... still love them.
Played a lot of New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart DS, Mario Party DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Pokémon Heart Gold, Black 2, Platinum, Conquest, Sonic Rush, Rush Adventure, Spider-Man 3 DS (underrated game in my opinion), Transformers Autobots and Decepticons, so many more that i can't think of at the top of my head.
I remember beating some kids at a caravan park on Pokémon Black 2. It was so tough, but i managed to defeat this one kid's Zebstrika, and it felt so good. I have very distinctive memories of playing the DS as a kid, and I hold those memories near and dear in my heart.
I'm still so sad about how my original red DS Lite died due to it splitting in half... I went through a fair amount of DS consoles in my time but I've stuck with a New 2DS XL thankfully and I've been having a blast! I wanna try and get back into collecting DS games because I love having old pieces of media, I don't care that I can emulate any game I want to, I wanna have a god damn copy of SONIC RUSH!!!!
I hold the DS line of consoles in such high regard and they've given me long lasting memories that I wish will never fade as the years go by. I wanna be on my death bed and still remember the time my mum and I tried out taking funny photos on a DSi....

And by all means im very grateful for every piece of love n support, big or small, but there has been 2 things thats been buggin me for a long long time
fetishes.
right off the bat, i first want to address Mr. H and only *few* of the ppl that have come across him. fetish ppl. plz, like actually fucking plz stop bein so weird abt his body, askin me things relatin that *are*/or *obviously* weird and fetishy. Mr. H's body and his character entirely is not for ur sick fat fetish. i have stated this multiple times on my twitter but not here until now. its fucking weird. stop. i cannot stress that enough.
my popularity
2nd off, i wanna address how sum of the ppl who are fans of my work, smth ive never expected, is on how they approach me- well more so how they view me actually.
i srsly am thankful for every bit of support, even if im a bit slow realizing how fast it was happenin. u can love my art, gush over it, feel however u want abt it- but i dont want ppl viewing me as someone like an idol. ive never strived for popularity, i just like postin funni things and then go eat and play Sonic games after. no matter how big the numbers get, i do not want to be titled "popular" or like sum grand person- i just like to chill out like everyone else online and post art for the funnis. i will say u can look up to me and stuffs, but dont treat me someone higher than anyone else ig is what im tryna say
ive had a friend who was jealous of me in the past cuz of this, we're not friends anymore for more personal reasons, too many, but they would keep bringin it up and tell me to use my platform cuz of how many followers i have, and its always made me uncomfy. i wanna say that they were somewhat ungrateful if *every* post they made didnt hit off, but its whatever to me. i dont want my friends to be jealous of me, i dont wanna make anyone jealous.
but i dont want smth like this or anything stop someone from interacting w/ me. i love u guys and the funni interactions i get

Sonic CD: Don’t harm nature kids, but the timestream? Nah fuck that shit!
Sonic 3: Gaming’s first ever surprise Pikachu face moment, courtesy of Knuckles
Sonic Adventure: Violence creates more violence, so don’t do violence kids
Sonic Adventure 2: The government sucks
Sonic Heroes: I FFFFFUCKING LOVE TEAMWORK SO MUCH *slams head on pure concrete
Shadow the Hedgehog: “So instead of asking us about your past, even Rouge, you decided to trust an obviously evil alien!?” “Well in my defense I did drop my head by falling from outer space”
Sonic Rush: Local Hedgehog teaches a Cat a lesson on friendship by beating the snot out of her and throwing her off a platform
Sonic 06: Marty McFly:
youtube
Sonic Rush Adventure: “Hey Sonic do you think Oda will try to sue us for this?”
Sonic Unleashed: Chip: I have to go now, the planet needs me (Editor’s note: Chip’s Temple Megazord bonked its head on the last planetary piece as it made its way back into place)
Sonic and the Secret Rings: Don’t tell Amy that, unlike her, Shahra actually managed to put a ring on Sonic
Sonic and the Black Knight: Where literally everyone not named Sonic sucks!
Sonic Colors: Eggman “I have changed!” Tails “Has he changed?” Sonic “Lmao no”
Sonic Generations: Suck it Link, this is how you screw around with the timeline!
Sonic Lost World: Maybe the real Lost Hex was the lesson learned along the way
Sonic Forces: Do you think Eggman ever made some racist, WW2 era-style cartoons against Sonic and friends?
Sonic Mania: A game made with fan input for fans :D
Sonic Frontiers: A game made with fan input for fans D:
Sonic Superstars: The game that sucks because it has the worst bosses known to man and features uninspired level design and a monster final boss that comes out of nowhere. I’d rather play Sonic Rush, Sonic Frontiers and Sonic Adventure 2!
Sonic 4 Episode 3:
youtube

Mod Spotlight: Sonic Forces Overclocked
So this is an interesting little thing. For those of you not aware, Sonic Forces Overclocked (if I'm remembering right) was originally an attempt to "fix" Sonic Forces by expanding all of the levels and even completely rewriting the story. Obviously that's a big task, and the developers eventually realized that, scaling it down into what could best be described as an "Encore" of sorts -- an epilogue story where the villains make one last desperate final push, spread out across remixed versions of eight of the game's best levels. All told, it's about an hour worth of content.
Which is... actually totally fine. With eight (technically seven, but the final boss still counts) levels, there's plenty to see. Actually, pacing is probably Overclocked's strongest suit.
The original Sonic Forces was a pacing disaster; levels often felt like they were cut off at the knees, usually ending just as they were getting started. That's never true in Overclocked, as each level took me a good 3-5+ minutes to finish. Levels in Overclocked are also massively improved in other ways, too -- all that extra length is put to good use with Sonic's trademark alternate pathways, new enemies, and new interactive elements. Interactivity is up across the board. Sonic Forces loved to lock you into long, obnoxious scripted set pieces but Overclocked keeps you firmly in control most of the time.
Which brings me to something I'm not entirely sure is a complaint: difficulty balance. If you've been reading this blog long enough you know I can be pretty picky about difficulty balancing, and the way its handled in Overclocked is interesting.
Generally speaking, Overclocked treats the boost like "expert mode." It's there for people who know the levels already and want to push themselves to do it faster. At first it's fine -- boosting means you'll miss some alternate paths (shortcuts, most likely) but you can still bumble your way to the end of the level and coast by on C ranks. The further you get into the game, though, the more it starts to punish you for trying to go fast without knowing what you're doing. The safety nets that would catch you in earlier levels go away and Overclocked tells you to either slow down or get serious.
Which... I think I'm fine with? The thing it brings to mind for me is the two Sonic Rush games. My favorite one is Sonic Rush Adventure, because it's more accessible (read: easier to learn) than the first Sonic Rush. At the same time, the first Sonic Rush ends up being the more replayable of the two games, because it's a lot harder to master. The higher skill ceiling has kept me coming back to Sonic Rush long after it felt like I wrung all of the gameplay out of Sonic Rush Adventure.
So the idea of a Sonic game not only facilitating a higher skill ceiling but maybe even encouraging that? Not the worst way to balance things, as long as you keep the less skilled players in mind and communicate things correctly. Which, at least for me, I feel like Overclocked does. It started to kick my butt at certain points, but never in a way that felt too mean or unfair. And that's exactly the way it should be, though it should be noted I haven't exactly put myself through the hell of trying to go for higher ranks.
The one real complaint I have about the levels is something I've been observing for years, and unfortunately my fears came true: the lighting.
I've talked about my monitor in the past. I bought it somewhere between 2011 and 2012, so it's getting up there in years. I believe it was the first thing I ever purchased with my Youtube Earnings. It's starting to get kind of dim in its old age, and it's exacerbated by the fact I like to keep it on its "Theater Mode" setting, which gives me really good black levels (for an LCD) and amazing color. But it's an aging monitor, so those amazing black levels end up feeling a little dark, depending on the game. For those of you who caught my halloween streams this year, you know I ended up switching my monitor to its "Standard Mode" because it flattens the contrast and makes the darkest darks more visible. It could be argued that I should just leave the monitor in "Standard Mode" at this point, but I can't stand how Windows looks with it turned on.
To cut to the chase, I had to turn on "Standard Mode" for Sonic Forces Overclocked. In keeping with the theme of this being an encore, a lot of levels have wildly new lighting applied to them, with many levels set later in the evening or at night.
This blankets a lot of levels in a single color and lots of high-contrast shadows, which makes character, enemy, and hazard visibility incredibly difficult. In some levels with a lot of high-frequency noise (like Chemical Plant) it can be difficult to tell where your character even is on screen sometimes. In other levels, like the revamped Mystic Forest, the blue-on-purple-on-teal color scheme makes for a readability nightmare (as does the Death Egg Core level with Buddy, with a red character navigating a level full of orange fog, lit by pink and yellow lights).
When you're running through these stages at a couple hundred miles per hour, it all blurs together into something that's sometimes either too dark or too muddy to parse. At one point Sonic jokes that Infinite's aesthetic is "monochrome colors" but I'd rather have the levels be readable at a glance than hanging a lampshade on it. Things just need to be a little brighter, with a little more diversity of color to highlight the edges of roads and incoming hazards.
The story is... fine. It's not incredibly deep, and it doesn't need to be, so it works well enough. There's actually a surprising amount here, though, from mid-level chatter, map screen debriefings, and even full on cutscenes. Voice acting duties seem to be handled by Adrenaline Dubs, who I subscribed to last year for their surprisingly good dubs of Archie and IDW Sonic comics. They turn in some pretty high quality work here, often rivaling Sega's official dubbing efforts. My only real complaint is that Sonic's dialog is a little too referential; his call-outs during levels often reference other infamous lines from different Sonic games ("The whole city's on fire!", etc.), and sort of like how the game pokes fun at the monochromatic lighting, there's a line where Sonic even cringes at his own dialog a little bit. "We're admitting it's bad, but still doing it anyway" is not a healthy design ethos.
Earlier I mentioned cutscenes, and rather than the complex, high-budget cutscenes Sega had in the original Forces, Overclocked instead opts for motion comic videos. Artistic duties for these cutscenes are shared between a handful of 4 or 5 different artists, each bringing their own art style to their scenes. Generally, I think this is a good move. A little more consistency between artists would make it feel a bit more polished, but seeing the art style change between scenes has its own charms, too. It really drives home how much of Sonic Forces Overclocked was not only a team effort, but to some degree, a community effort. Many different hands touched this project, and it is better for it.
It's easy to focus on the negative things I said about Sonic Forces Overclocked here and think I came away not really liking it. Nothing could be further from the truth. I think this is a genuinely impressive mod, with significantly better level design than the base game. It has a few problems, sure, but the overall product, when taken as a whole, is absolutely wonderful. This might be a bit incendiary and hyperbolic, but this close to the top of the list as the most fun I've had with a Sonic game this year. If you own Sonic Forces on Steam, it's not to be missed.

(This is just a few random questions I think abt when i find an author i like-)
What other media/hobbies do you indulge in? What's some of your biggest interests? (Other than voltron ofc) Is there another Fandom you'd write for? Favorite childhood show(s)?
Big question, favorite volron paladin? Favorite character in voltron? (No limitations- you could answer bii-bob-bi tbh. hes a fantastic choice)
BIGGER QUESTION!! What inspired you to write this rewrite and how do you motivate yourself to continue?
That's all! Hope you're having a lovely day! :)
Hello!
-
I'm very big into anime - I started watching them when I was eleven and never stopped. I watch other animated shows (Western), which I'll list in a later segment.
I'm also into manga, though not comics, (never really knew why, just couldn't get into it). Games, too, mainly RPGs, though I have been into FPS co-op as of late.
Don't judge me: K-Pop. I only really interact/watch content for one group, (will come up later), but I used to juggle between many groups.
As for hobbies other than writing: I'm big into art. Took classes for them and everything. Though this may have been obvious from early chapters of book one.
I've tried to get into making animatics, but I ended up stopping half-way through everytime I started. I like voice acting, though I've only ever done it once for someone I'm no longer friends with haha.
I used to be big into baking, but was never good at it. I'm much better at cooking, though mainly Asian dishes, (due to heritage and such).
My biggest interests... I'll keep it limited to five, else this segment would be much longer.
One Piece, (generic but it's popular for a reason), is a favourite of mine. The writing, world building, characters, relationships, messages, themes - I love it all. Definitely a high reccomendation.
Gravity Falls, because it's just that good? Even the weakest episode would be considered top tier if it was in another series. Dipper and Mabel's relationship is everything to me, and Stan was the uncle I always wanted. Love him.
Fullmetal Alchemist, mostly MangaHood, but the 2003 anime adaptation is great too. It's honestly of the best written works I've ever interacted with, and it makes perfect sense that it's highly rated.
SHINee, the K-Pop group I mentioned before. I'd call them standards for the industry, but then nobody would be able to share the stage with them. I'm a Shawol for life baby!
Finally, Katekyou Hitman Reborn. This was the first fandom I wrote fics for, back on my WattPad days, and I still love it to this day. I wish for the fandom to be revived so I may read the trashy fanfics I once adored and now hide my face in shame to.
Other fandoms I write for: Fairy Tail, though I haven't touched the AU I started in months. My Hero Academia, though only through my Tumblr page @my-rewrite-academia. I've been working on a Persona 5 fanfiction behind the scenes for a while, though I haven't progressed past chapter three.
I have an alt AO3 account, where I've written for MHA, Kuroko No Basket, Persona 5, SuperM, and the Banana Bus Squad (Vanoss and Friends).
My old WattPad has mostly Katekyou Hitman Reborn, and a sprinkle of Fullmetal Alchemist.
Neither of the previous two shall be linked, as I honestly just want to leave behind those fixs behind, considering I wrote them when I was thirteen and nothing made sense.
My favourite childhood show(s): Spongebob, Mr. Maker (only British kids will understand), Pokemon, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Also Sonic Boom, though that was exclusive to my teen years than childhood. The How To Train Your Dragon shows were also a favourite of mine, including Riders and Defenders of Berk.
If movies count, then How To Train Your Dragon, Shrek, Megamind, and Scary Movie(s). Scary Movie(s) sound like a weird thing, and it was. I was in the room with my older siblings when they put it on and never bothered to leave.
-
Now the Voltron-related segment!
Favourite Paladin: Keith. I hope it's not entirely obvious in my writing, as I wish to treat every character equally, but he is my favourite. I relate to him a lot and he ticks a lot of my boxes.
Favourite character: Keith, again. Other than Keith, however, it's Coran, the Gorgeous Man. He's always so jolly despite the heartbreak he's been through, and the writers were able to balance his comedy so well.
(Apart from the Voltron Show where they were clearly running out of ideas and/or time and made him more annoying than funny.)
-
BIGGEST QUESTIONS:
"What inspired me to write this rewrite–" (first half)
I actually started writing it in 2021, where I went on a three-year break due to losing motivation and my interest dwindling, at the time anyway. I was initially inspired to write it when I grew more and more frustrated with how canon handled many things.
As with many teen shows, I began to wonder if it would be handled better had it been intended for a more mature audience. It didn't help that I read the fanfics before I watched the show, so I had a certain level of expectations that weren't quite met.
I won't blame the writers, as it's usually just two or three people higher-up who make all the decisions. I was disappointed in DreamWorks, not the team behind it who have no choice but to follow orders.
But, yeah. The turning point, what really pushed me into starting and publishing the rewrite, was when I started thinking about how I'd handle each character and each arc. How I'd write different relationships, how I'd write each theme.
From there, I decided to put my money where my mouth was, so to speak.
It was a terrible start, really. When I first started writing it, I only had a vague idea of how I'd go about it. When I came back to the rewrite, the first thing I did was create a proper plan, else it'd just end up like the show - disappointing and missing so much.
I can remember, when I started, I just wanted to write a better story, which is a terrible mindset. This idea that the only thing that mattered was being better than the show is a toxic one.
My mindset is a lot better, of course. I've grown up since then, and spite-writing is something of the past. Maybe there are things I'm displeased with in canon, but I don't allow that spite to control me.
Rather, I feel more enthused, viewing it as more like adding onto what canon missed - filling in scenes rather than being better.
So, consider this a PSA to authors who spitewrite - get out of your minds. It feels much better to write if done with good intentions rather than negative. Words come easier and it doesn't feel like a chore.
-
"–and how do you motivate yourself to continue?"
Keeping a schedule, first and foremost. It differs from person to person, but having a set schedule of every '—day' helps a lot. It urges me to write, and the pressure helps me more than debilitates.
Of course, others may disagree. For others, having a strict schedule may feel constricting and thus hinder creativity, but it's helpful to me. This idea of, 'I have to do this', 'if not now then when?', helps me a lot.
It's also my longest fic to date, so to stop now would feel like a large disservice to both me and to the people who read each new chapter.
Then there's you! I'm not kidding, either. Comments, now more than ever, are usually so rare.
I once saw a post about an author discovering a discord server where their fic, (which had very little comments), was being heavily dicussed, and people had nothing but praise for it. When they asked why they didn't comment, they said that they didn't feel the need to, or that it would be embarrassing. That they never knew what to comment, despite the praise they had for it.
The author then decided to abandon the work upon finding this out. Because we don't get anything from posting our works. All we ask for is some form of praise or acknowledgement, and comments are just that.
Even if it's [<33] or [This is good!] or even [please update], we appreciate it all. Honestly, the only time I refuse to comment, rather than simply forgetting, is when an author holds fics hostage. The whole, 'I want x-many comments or else I won't update'. At that point, I lose any respect they had.
Comments are our lifeline, yet the idea of asking for comments feels like tabboo. As if we're less for leaving even a small note of, 'comment please', feels like it's asking for too much.
So to have a repeat commenter, to have you, is everything to me! If all else fails, if I can't find the motivation, I often think about those people who subscribed, who have my fic bookmarked, who comment on each update, and I think about how there are people who get excited with each update, who want to know what's going to happen next, who want to see this fic to its end.
It may sound corny, but my biggest motivation really is my readers, and those repeat comments give me life. It helps in ways that I never realised could.
-
And that is the end of the AMA/Q&A segment!! Thank you for sending this, stay tuned for the next update, have a great day, and look both ways before crossing the road!

Todays rip: 21/03/2024
Poké Village
Season 5 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume C
Ripped by XxFemBu55yL0V3RxX
youtube
I've yapped on and on before on here about what the true core of SiIvaGunner is, be it comedy, emotion, shitposting, community, lore, what have you. There obviously isn't one true answer to that question: it's all subjective, not just based on your own reading of the channel, but your own experiences with it. As an aspiring writer, I love digging deep into its narrative and theming, the stuff found in Nice, Slick, Blackness and NIGHTMARESCAPE 〜Unrestrained HyperCam 2〜 (Final Boss Phase 2) - but other people are far more invested in the act of ripping itself, the people who go the mile beyond that even I do and keep up with all the various fan channels, or even make rips themselves. But no matter your angle, there's one thing that binds everything together, the thing that Poké Village and so many other rips represent. To share what you love, and love what others share.
I'm sure that at this point, Violet Snow Memories is one of my most-linked posts on this blog, but that's exactly because it represents that theme so well. Kyle Hyde's duology of DS Adventure games aren't exactly worldwide phenomenons, yet there are still people out there - people like Uncle Fill - who wish to share their love for the games in any way they can. And in turn, I myself have enjoyed hundreds of rips representing games and franchises I've never really engaged with much, franchises like Touhou with Imperial Touwer or Sable with Sable's Stickerbush. But it doesn't really matter whether or not I'M a fan of these series, when its ever-so-evident just how much the people making these rips love them, the love you can see in the rips themselves. And hell, I've said it before and I'll say it again: It was Chaze the Chat's love for Maroon 5 as a band, its early history and distinct style highlighted in the rips on SiIvaGunner, rips like As Miku Collides, that got ME invested in the band in return. Each ripper on SiIvaGunner, each contributor and fan submitter, wishes to share a piece of themselves with SiIva's audience, and it's truly heartwarming to see how many of us are able to look beyond the boundaries of fandom to appreciate real quality.
Which, then, brings us back to Poké Village - a rip featuring the Pokke Village theme from the Monster Hunter series. First appearing when the series was still primarily on the PlayStation Portable, and only reappearing on the core-fan installment Monster Hunter Generations. The franchise is far from niche, the song far from obscure - but it still isn't exactly a theme known to those *outside* of the Monster Hunter sphere, in the way that we for instance all know the tune of Green Hill Zone without having played a Sonic game. SiIvaGunner isn't exactly a gathering spot for the Monster Hunter community (the games themselves have a pitiful amount of rips on the channel), but by just Poké Village alone, you may be fooled into thinking otherwise.
What XxFemBu55yL0V3RxX's created here is a beautiful 7-minute arrangement of the aforementioned Pokke Village theme, initially led by the very same nostalgic Game Boy hum that leads much of the Johto Pokémon games' soundtracks. The extensiveness of the arrangement alone speaks volumes - it reminds me of rips like Jesus of the Underground right off the bat - but its hardly where the rip stops to impress. For one, I think the choice in game to use for this "bait-and-switch" arrangement is incredibly smart and quite deliberate. As an outsider, I need not have played a Monster Hunter game to get a sense for what Pokke Village is like, due purely to my associations with Ecruteak City and how those feelings are leveraged in the rip. I have no nostalgia nor attachment to any Monster Hunter game, yet the emotion present in just the rip's first half alone, the way the theme swells and settles, it conveys the rural village atmosphere pitch-perfectly. And all of it is, of course, elevated by the rip's unexpected twist - the remarkably seamless switch from the Pokémon GSC sound, to something far closer to a ground-up arrangement.
At first, I drew the conclusion that it was directly based on the Ecruteak City or Cianwood City theme of Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver, the 2009 remakes of the Johto Pokémon games for Nintendo DS. And while the arrangement feels incredibly similar to the sound of the DS, from the samples used to their quality, I can't directly connect the instruments used to either of the two city themes (which share a melody but with differing arranges). Yet the vibe is what truly matters, XxFemBu55yL0V3RxX is able to harness the warmth and comfort of those familiar DS-era samples to further bring home the sheer vibe of the Pokke Village theme that elevates the rip beyond its starting point, beyond its initial concept. I love pleasant surprise escalations like this, like I covered back in Plantasia 2, and much like that rip itself - I love how Poké Village is using it purely to further push a message of affection for a piece of media XxFemBu55yL0V3RxX seemingly holds very close to him.
Melody swaps between themes with such similar atmosphere are always some of the most surefire hits on SiIva, I'm reminded of just how quickly Aquadial enchanted me to name just one. And Poké Village certainly fits that mold, but I'm enamored by just how far XxFemBu55yL0V3RxX went to celebrate this theme that many of us are likely still rather unfamiliar with, to champion a franchise otherwise so underrepresented on SiIvaGunner with a seven-minute tribute covering two entirely different styles of arrangement. And it makes me so happy that it all worked, that the rip was able to hit the way it does without me having ever played a Monster Hunter game. Or in other words, that I was able to love the piece of himself that he shared in this rip.

73, 74, 75 & 80 for the ask game!
I definitely didn't have a good giggle at this, not at all (don't worry, I almost did the same when asking someone else 😂). Answers under the cut!
73. What do you tend to get complimented the most about your writing?
Either my character voice or my descriptive imagery! For the former, it's usually people saying that Astarion's voice comes through in what I've written, which I'm insanely happy about. A bit of behind the scenes - I've always been really into voice acting and voice actors ever since I was a kid. Stemmed from being a Sonic the Hedgehog and anime fan growing up, I think, haha. I love picking apart people's voices and thinking about what makes them unique, so it's great putting that to use in writing! It's so much fun.
74. Do you have a fic you wish got more love?
Right now, either part 2 of The Scientific Method, 'An Empirical Study,' or A Tale of Fools and Tricksters. But such is the nature of longfics or multi-chapter fics, sadly! They generally don't tend to do as well as one-shot fics on Tumblr. But I knew this going into things, so I'm not mad about it!
75. Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn't expect?
Honestly? The one I just released 😂 The Learned Observer is my second or third best performing fic on Tumblr so far in terms of the number of notes in 24 hours, which was a huge surprise, given it's in first person and features a specific kink that can be controversial. You're all filthy devils (affectionate).
Which fics have you done the most research for?
A Tale of Fools and Tricksters, for sure! I went on a proper circus binge. Every piece of circus visual media, I've been eating it up. Circus acts, what it takes to perform them, the outfits, all of it. I've watched The Greatest Showman more times than I care to admit 😂

Barbie as Rapunzel: First Thoughts
The following is my thoughts while watching this for the first time.
Wow, already an upgrade in the shading and lighting judging by this intro alone.
And the CGI looks better too! Nice casual outfit Barbie’s got on.
I assume each special will start out with Barbie reassuring Kelly about something? Hope this doesn’t get stale soon.
Already this special feels like it has an upgraded sense of scale.
Ooh so instead of a tower, it’s a mansion protected by a magic barrier. That’s… actually pretty cool! A nice change from the original, even if the home seems pretty modern looking on the outside.
I find it humorous that the name of one of the coolest Spidermen ever is also the name of a cockney rabbit sidekick.
A sweet and colorful dragon portrayed by Cree Summer? I’m getting flashbacks to Sonic: SATAM.
Peneople looks like if a Dragon Tales character was in an early PS2 game and I like it. She’s so cute!
Remember how I joked about Disney copyright last time? Seems like Rapunzel did the idea of Gothel being an attractive witch first.
Ok this entrance of Gothel riding through the forest is way more metal than Tangled.
Interesting how this Rapunzel calls Gothel “m’lady” instead of “mother”.
Speaking of Disney, Gothel’s design reminds me a lot of Lady Tremaine.
The ferret sounds VERY fruity.
Man Hobie straight up wants Gothel to die. Pretty dark for a Barbie movie.
I find it funny that shenanigans with a tea set caused a secret entrance to be found.
Lol, I can relate to Penelope’s hatred of snakes.
The plot thickens as we see Rapunzel discovering a message from her real parents way earlier than in Tangled.
Heh, the ferret uses it’s tail as a sleeping mask for Gothel.
Once again, a new room discovered via accident.
Wow and she’s already out of the tower and discovered the kingdom. This thing’s going along fast!
Why is seeing the chef in his comically large hat standing in one spot with a goofy smile on his face causing me to mentally cackle like a loon?
Punzie, the cook wasn’t trying to poison you. It’s just a free sample.
I LOVE the “rabbit’s ear as a radio antenna” gag!
Wait, Penelope has a dad?
Looks like both Penelope and Rapunzel have parental issues.
I can relate to Penelope’s fear of heights. It’s ok, honey, we can curl up into a fetal position together.
Hobie: “Does he ever smile?” Penelope: “Not around me”. God my heart just broke into a million pieces at that line. Why does this hurt more than anything Gothel says to Rapunzel?
It’ll never not be odd to see all of these children with the same face.
The Prince looks just like the one from the Nutcracker. I wonder if that’s intentional?
Of course the kings are too stubborn to hash things out. As a result, you get death traps like that pit.
I love the way Otto pronounces “vill-oge”. Hilarious.
Nice showing of both Rapunzel reporting her day to her friends and Otto ratting her out to Gothel at the same time.
Damn, Gothel using her magic to destroy Rapunzel’s paintings of Penelope is cold! Honestly this Gothel seems a lot more menacing and realistic than the Disney version.
I like how this Rapunzel is not only selfless but also has a backbone.
Trippy visuals with Gothel making the house literally grow.
As Hugo was assigned by Gothel to guard the castle, all he could think was “fuck my life”.
Hang on, the little blond boy’s name is Tommy? Wasn’t that the name of the younger brother in Nutcracker?
This boy’s got the “Phantom Menace Anakin” haircut and the personality. Brings back memories of the Prequels. Poor Jake Lloyd…
I like the fact that Stefan and Tommy have the same relationship going on that Barbie and Kelly do IRL
How on earth did the prince find the tower? Isn’t it in the middle of nowhere?
Apparently he “searched everywhere”, but it would probably take ages to go around the entire kingdom. I feel like it’d have been better if maybe one of Rapunzel’s animal friends had been followed by him.
Oh, wait. It was a dream! Ok, that makes more sense. Once again, I should have not underestimated the intelligence of the writers.
Headcanon: (Unless Penelope's mom shows up) Hugo's ex-wife is the dragon from Shrek and they share custody of Penelope. Hugo really hates donkeys now.
Holy crap, this is a beautiful melody Penelope is singing.
The knights remind me of Bert and Ernie. I’ve always loved that dynamic.
The mental paintbrush is a really cool idea. More properties should use it.
Rapunzel straight up saying she’d rather be dead than be a prisoner. Respect.
See, now is Stefan tired and exhausted from actually looking everywhere.
Maybe Rapunzel doesn’t want to know Stefan’s name in case it’s a dream or so that she won’t hurt as much if she loses him.
Once again, we have a prince not telling Barbie’s character he’s royalty.
It saddens me to know that the silversmith is unable to visit or speak to his brother due to the ban on Wilhelm’s kingdom. It’s a realistic worry.
Now we’re getting elements of Cinderella with the masked ball. Once again, connections since Gothel reminds me of Tremaine.
Hobie, I don’t think that Gothel is going to care if you’re in pain. Woman’s a total sadist.
Did Otto just orgasm?
The paintbrush really is OP. It can make clothes!
The mystical music is funny because right now, they’re doing the “girl tries on new clothes” montage.
Eh the final dress is ok, but I actually think the first “simple” one looked the best.
Funny how in Tangled, Rapunzel's hair gets cut by Eugene to stop Gothel. Here, Rapunzel's hair gets cut by Gothel instead.
Gothel, maybe don’t piss off the big strong dragon who has been willingly helping you?
Now we’re finally seeing King Wilhelm. I wish we got some more of him earlier.
Ok, Gothel has to have some sort of spell activated because how the hell did Stefan not think “why does your face look so different?”.
Love to see Penelope call her dad out on his bullshit, and get through to his softer side.
Nice to see her get some love from her dad after all this time.
WOO! Tommy used his bow and arrow to save his big bro! Kid’s got guts.
And now the little children pelt her with fruit!
Really impressive sword choreography for a Barbie movie.
So Gothel just stole Rapunzel from Wilhelm because she hated being in the friend-zone. Ridiculously petty.
And Rapunzel STILL offers forgiveness to Gothel! She truly is an angel.
Honestly, the fact that this Gothel is trapped inside the tower due to her own spell for all eternity is WAY more of a scary way to go then falling out of the tower like Disney’s Gothel did.
What a wonderful ending! Seeing everyone reunited and hearing that wonderful credits score gave me such a smile.
Hopefully a full review will come out sometime this month. I've got other creative AUs to help with. Let me know your thoughts in the comments and reblogs. @msweebyness @artzychic27 @nerd-chocolate

A brief introduction
Hi. My name's Bobby. (She/her.) You may know me for running my inexplicably widely known Archie Sonic blog Thanks Ken Penders, or for making the game Super Lesbian Animal RPG. Maybe you just know me as a furry artist. I wear a lot of hats!
While it's not one of the main interests I'm known for, I've been a fan of Spider-Man for most of my life, ever since the fateful weekend in 2002 when my dad decided to rent a certain Sam Raimi movie. He passed on his love of the character to me. Spider-Man remains my favorite superhero to this day, even in an age when MCU fatigue is really setting in. My tastes in fiction (and, by extension, my own writing) were surely influenced by the mix of fantastical and relatable elements found in Peter Parker's stories. The way he can go on these adventures swinging all around New York and then be like "shit, I forgot to pay my rent for my hellhole apartment." As my dad put it, unlike a lot of other superheroes, under the mask Spider-Man's just a normal guy from Queens.
I'm not the most hardcore fan, sure, but I've enjoyed plenty of takes on the character across different storytelling mediums. Movies, cartoons, video games, etc. That is, with one notable exception. The original comics. The Earth-616 Spider-Man comics that have been going for 60 years now. Even though I was the rare 21st century elementary schooler with a comic shop pull list, the mainline Marvel universe seemed completely impenetrable to me. I didn't know where to start, and every year I put it off, the backlog only grew larger and larger. I did read the first few volumes of Ultimate Spider-Man in middle school because my local library had them, but that was about it.
Recently, though, being in a Spidey mood thanks to the Insomniac games and Spider-Verse movies, I had a crazy idea. What if I just... read the main universe Spider-Man comics from the start?
I've read plenty of other long comics. Manga series that span hundreds of chapters. All sorts of Sonic and Transformers comics. I read all of Homestuck. I'm a One Piece fan, for Christ's sake. It can't be that hard, right?
Right?
...Okay, yeah, this is gonna take forever. Which is why I've made a whole blog for my little Spider-Man posts as I casually read these comics. Enjoy!
