Qu’est-ce que l’intelligence ?
Sfetcu, Nicolae (2024).

I'm tired of sharing news with you on Tumblr. Every day I mention some people, some of them answer and some of them don't, but will you help me today by sharing the post with the largest number of people who die every day in Gaza and need your donations?

'There's no way Steve and Eddie would be able to hide their relationship from the kids for long, they wouldn't have enough excuses!' They lost a bet to Robin.
Steve turns up in Eddie's Hellfire shirt? Lost a bet to Robin
Eddie's wearing Steve's polo? Lost a bet to Robin
They've both swapped clothes from this morning? Lost a bet to Robin
They walk in on them kissing? Lost a bet to Robin
They see them sleeping in the same bed? Sleepover (after they lost a bet to Robin)
'But the kids wouldn't keep falling for that!' I hear you yell, but consider; they all think they're geniuses and smarter than any adult they know, they would absolutley think Eddie and Steve are that dumb to keep making bets with her. The only person that knows what's up is Max and she realised weeks before the boys even started to suspect that something might be up

"To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

fish-out-of-water character in science fiction to whom humanity is deeply alien, but who does not continually get themselves into awkward social situations because they looked up Human Ettiquette For Dummies, they learned about basic human social dynamics including how humans bond socially, and it is immediately obvious to them after five second of introspection how a highly social tool-using species like humans would benefit from spending a lot of time building social ties

Open source vs. closed doors: How China’s DeepSeek beat U.S. AI monopolies
By Gary Wilson
China’s DeepSeek AI has just dropped a bombshell in the tech world. While U.S. tech giants like OpenAI have been building expensive, closed-source AI models, DeepSeek has released an open-source AI that matches or outperforms U.S. models, costs 97% less to operate, and can be downloaded and used freely by anyone.

In the twentieth century, few would have ever defined a truck driver as a ‘cognitive worker’, an intellectual. In the early twenty-first, however, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in self-driving vehicles, among other artefacts, has changed the perception of manual skills such as driving, revealing how the most valuable component of work in general has never been just manual, but has always been cognitive and cooperative as well. Thanks to AI research – we must acknowledge it – truck drivers have reached the pantheon of intelligentsia. It is a paradox – a bitter political revelation – that the most zealous development of automation has shown how much ‘intelligence’ is expressed by activities and jobs that are usually deemed manual and unskilled, an aspect that has often been neglected by labour organisation as much as critical theory.
– Matteo Pasquinelli, The Eye of the Master: A Social History of Artificial Intelligence (2023)

Hi darlings ♡
This is a bit embarrassing haha and nothing like my usual posts at all, but I recently joined a debate club to help with my social anxiety and public speaking, and to force myself out of my shell. I'm good at debating online, but real life debating is very different, and I really want to be good at it. I was nominated to be one of the speakers at our next meeting, and I need to speak about why AI is a bad thing, not a good thing, as I'm on the opposing team. I am aware that I can bring up points such as AI art, laziness, etc. But I'd love some tips and help from anybody who has either done debating stuff or can give me good points to make 🥹🩷 I know I'm confident in my blog, but in real life I'm a socially anxious wreck and my voice shakes when I talk about something I feel strongly about. Please please please if you know any tips about confidence, AI, debates, etc, I'd greatly appreciate it!! Articles are great and I'll definitely do my research too, but I'm really hoping I can find some extra helpful stuff here

"Ford is intellectually smart and Stan is emotionally smart" is a statement that makes me want to nose dive into academic studies in order to single-handedly redefine the categories of intelligence because that *cant* be right.

Femme Fatale Guide: Tips To Become More Emotionally Intelligent
Embrace self-awareness & self-reflection: Observe how you feel, behave, and how people generally respond to your words/actions in different situations
Practice self-regulation: Learn to differentiate between your feelings and the actions that would be appropriate in a specific setting or interaction. Internalize that feelings are fleeting and non-factual. You're in control of how you respond/(don't) act on these emotions
Engage in active listening: Pay attention to what others are saying with the intent of understanding, not responding
Focus on emotional differentiation: Understand where your thoughts, feelings, intentions, and opinions end and another person's identity/perception begins
Display radical empathy and acceptance: Understand that almost all people's words and actions result from their own beliefs, past experiences, and current life circumstances/priorities. Put yourself in their shoes when attempting to understand their choices, behaviors, and times they come to you to discuss a problem, success, or major life decision. Accept that you can only control what you do. Very little of other people's actions/the world's workings are personal. Things are happening around you, not to you
Let go of your ego: View yourself as objectively as possible with the potential for improvement. Abolish any superior complex or overwhelming desire to prove your self-importance in others' lives and decisions
Remain open-minded: Question your own beliefs and opinions. Stay curious as to why you believe them to be true/authentic to you. Allow your opinions to change or have the capacity to modify your beliefs upon hearing new information. Understand your worldview and values are valid, but they're not definitively correct beliefs, just because they resonate/feel comfortable for you
Be receptive to feedback: Embrace constructive criticism as a self-improvement tool. Approach it with curiosity and optimism, not as a personal attack
Differentiate between your feelings and capabilities: Your thoughts are not facts. Remember you can do things you don't feel like doing most of the time (work, waking up in the morning, working out, etc.). Learn the difference between being a slave to your emotions and genuinely running out of energy
