I'd also like to add that the cub in the AI video lacks weight.

You know how when something is SUPER well animated (by a person) there's a stylized sense of weight and mass to everything tangible in the world that's been created?

Well, the cub on the fake lion's head doesn't have that.

It's difficult to explain in more detail, but that cub looks weightless and the "father" isn't moving his head in a way that makes it appear as though he is carrying a small living hat with, you guessed it; tangible weight.

In 2D animation I've heard the technique for creating weight be called "squash and stretch," I'm not sure what the term is (or if there's much of a difference) in 3D animation.

Remember the 1994 Lion King when Mufasa had Simba on his head? There was weight to that, Mufasa's movements (and Simba's) telegraphed a sense of weight.
