Here's my redesign for Husk!
Tumblr media
So I decided to draw redesigns for Hazbin Hotel characters! I'm starting off with Husk because to me he's one of the most detailed characters. For his design, I decided to simplify it, because holy hell, Husk has way too much detail- it's insane.
I made his fur slightly darker because according to Viv, Husk is black (or at least implied), but you wouldn't fucking know that because she's terrible at representing certain groups of people. I was originally going to remove the wings entirely, but if I did, he would totally look like a furry OC, so I kept the wings, except I took away all the details and made them small. Basically his wings are for decoration.
I also made him look more like a grumpy old cat (because again, according to Viv, Husk is supposed to be in his 60's or 70's.) And finally I made him chubby because its supposed to represent a beer gut lmao-

Ok for the people who have read the spidernoir comics specifically the first ones(and it’s been awhile so correct me if I’m wrong) but did anyone else think Felicia and Peter had a weird relationship?
Don’t get me wrong across the board/universes they have a very complex and complicated relationship and I love that for them! But let’s focus on the 90214 earth or noir universe. So we meet Peter right, exact age I don’t think is specified but it’s largely implied high school age. Then we meet Felicia, again age not specified but she’s portrayed as a lounge singer past her prime and is running the Black Cat speakeasy. So we know she’s been around a bit. But then we find out she’s Ben Urich’s ex or ‘old flame’. Which makes the Peter Felicia relationship weird because it could be argued that Urich becomes a type of father figure after Ben Parker’s passing. To clarify sleeping with your new(also newly dead at that point)father figure’s ex girlfriend IS FUCKING WEIRD. Now next, Urich, again no age, is at least 40s if not 50s or older, and I’m leaning older because it’s implied he’s been working with Jonah for a long ass time and they are equals in terms of experience. Jonah is usually portrayed in his 50s-60s. So how old exactly is Felicia to be Urichs longtime on again off again girlfriend? To add to this Felicia seems very well established with a lot of experience in the underground and crime scene.
Now let’s circle back: when Peter meets Felicia he is very much a teenager and implied to be under 18. Felicia is his somewhat father figure/bosses ex girlfriend, who meets Peter through her ex boyfriend, and then sleeps with Peter pretty soon after her ex dies. Felicia is implied to at least be in her 30s if not older following context clues.
Again we have no real timeline for anything and no confirmed ages so its definitely up to interpretation. There are a lot of plot holes in the spidernoir comics in general but this is one that has always bugged me, especially since a lot of people really like the noir spideycat ship. And they do have a couple of sweet moments throughout the noir comics and I do love them in other universes but I can’t get over the ick in this one.
I wanna hear peoples opinions on this so please comment or reblog with your thoughts and takes!

OOC: Something I found today
The above link is a resource that is AMAZING for anyone that wants to give agriculture- or food-based resources and reparations. I personally find it a beautiful thing. Each pin on the map comes with a quick blurb from the person requesting aid - some lead to websites with needs listed, but most have the need listed immediately in the pin-blurb itself.
This tool is excellent in two ways: for those who have reparations to make, it is an excellent resource. For those who need bolstering, this is also excellent; many pins on this map are community efforts with a history of success in lifting BIPOC voices, promoting land stewardship and agricultural independence for BIPOC, and making food resourcing easier for those groups.
It's a beautiful homage to the power of BIPOC community.
I would like to challenge the people reading this with white privilege to read through and pick something with needs suited to your capabilities, or who have needs within your grasp in the near future.
Personally, I have chosen Our Core's AgriCultural Program, linked here.

Hello! Okay I'm so curious since we apparently have such different bird affinities 😂
What did/would you choose between:
Loon vs chickadee
Rooster vs song sparrow
Red-winged blackbird vs ruddy duck
Ok, for loon vs chickadee I'd have to go with chickadee because they're one of my favorite backyard birds and I see them all the time, and their call is so unique and cute. Loon calls are really awe-inspiring and cool so I could see why you'd pick them, but personally I'm not very familiar with them or hear them very often.
As for rooster vs song sparrow, if we're talking about which is more iconic I'd obviously have to say the rooster. I mean, everyone knows what they sound like. But, song sparrows are a very bird-sounding bird and they add such a soothing backdrop to the woods, and I love the vocal variety in their songs.
The last one is barely a competition for me. Red-winged blackbirds are a bird I rarely hear, but their song is absolutely top-tier among birds. It's so perfectly brief and lilting, and rare enough that it really stands out when you hear it and gives you pause (at least for me.) It always calls back memories of childhood and playing down by lakes as a kid, and brings back sweet recollections, so I'd definitely say them. Mallard ducks are pretty awesome too though :)

That post about 30 year old coming of age stories?
I’ve been thinking about it all morning. What would the plot points be for that? What makes a 30 year old coming of age story?
Old folks sound off in the comments

How much longer 'til your luck runs out?
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#mdzs#jiang cheng#wei wuxian#Aaargh...I have so many thoughts about this scene.#This is a hard goodbye. I'm not your burden to bear. Not anymore.#This is the culmination of years of miscommunication. There was so much love there. They trusted each other with everything once.#I think it is easy to hear the anger in JC's voice and consider him the aggressor in this but listen to the words not the tone.#It is anger yes - but it is an anger born out of love.#Jiang Cheng wanted him to live - damn the rest of the world to hell if that's what it took. And Wei Wuxian chose strangers over him.#Sometimes two people who once flourished together become each other's worst wounds.#A goodbye to someone you once would have done anything for is a wound you don't easily recover from.#Jiang Cheng could have stood at Wei Wuxian's side and joined him. Consider though; as a sect leader his life is not his own anymore.#JC cannot just abandon the fledgling New Yunmeng Jiang without also dooming people.#And that is the lynch pin of it all. Both of them are trapped by duty. And the older they got the more tangled the web became.#The song I linked (Hi Epic fans) is such a good JC and WWX song that doesn't fit this scene exactly#But it does fit *them*. The words of warning that go dismissed. The Tactical Genius who continues to press on.#The seeds of doubt that grow louder until they creep towards mutiny. Ultimatly this *is* a mutiny! It *is* betrayal!#'You rely on wit and people die by it'. Is that not Wei Wuxian?#Just smashing my brainworms together over here. Don't mind me.

Neil Gaiman, you madman. I found your psychotic code.
Do you want a preview of a gigantic *thing* I found hidden inside of Good Omens Season 2? Of course you do. Please believe me when I tell you that when you remove every Minisode, Flashback, and Heaven/Hell scene from this season and put all the episodes back to back in one big timeline, the entire running time of season 2 is actually :
Tumblr media
2 hours, 22 minutes and 22 seconds long, exactly.
And I can't wait to tell you what else I found in this version. This is just the beginning.

Part two of the reverse verse is here! The reverse boys meet the original boys. They're not really getting along as well as I had hoped...
Again, this was a commission for @i-am-as-normal-as-you-are and they asked for angst/funny vibes... I think it's mostly just angst though. Oh, well...
Part one
#dead boy detectives#dbda#payneland#edwin x charles#reverse verse#there's a lot i could say about this one#the idea of someone telling edwin he's go to hell is absurd as it is#edwin telling edwin? lmao#the charles... oh they hate each other#reverse charles is angry (he always is) because this other version of himself was spared hell... in exchange for edwin going there?#obviously it doesn't work like that. og charles hadn't even been born when his edwin was sent to hell#but anger is not a rational thing. especially not for this boy#og charles? you don't want to know what he's thinking#i'm telling you anyways#he... kind of agrees. if someone had to go to hell#why edwin? why not him? there is an universe in which that happened#so why not this one? unfair#then again... look at this charles who did go to hell#he's explosive. he's DANGEROUS#he shouldn't be near edwin#if og charles had gone to hell would he be the same? would he be too angry to be trusted? would he be like his father?#and if so would that really count as saving edwin at all?#if this is the kind of best friend poor edwin would end up with?#on a happier note though#physical contact!! reverse charles loves it#i don't have all the details but his hell was on the rage ring so it was different to the dollhouse.#and it was a very violent place so boy loves gentle touches#luckily edwin is more willing to give them to him with each year#i think what the edwins are feeling is a lot more clear#but still would love to hear your thoughts

OKAY SO-
Alastor lost his cool and flipped his shit immensely when Lucifer showed up - why would that be? and why wedge himself between Lucifer and Charlie? Why would he react so viscerally when his literal main-competitor for retaining his rank and respect is Vox, and Vox openly antagonises him first, trying to drag Alastor's reputation through the mud in his broadcasts
Alastor remains cool, calm, collected, and in doing so completely surpasses Vox's attempts
in many ways, Alastor is unflappable. Always smiling, always a step ahead, always the most powerful and domineering in a room
and then- Lucifer shows up. This short statured, rosy-cheeked, rather pathetic excuse of a man
he waltzes in to the hotel, a fumbling over-excited mess, the least threatening a person could possibly look in hell, barely reaching Alastor's waist
and yet, he outranks Alastor, he could over-power him easily, he is the predator
and Alastor simply cannot handle that
Alastor may be furious that such a week-minded, emotionally unguarded man ranks so far above him with no way for Alastor to even attempt to gain the same status
so what does Lucifer lack? what is the one thing Alastor can have that he can't?
a relationship with Charlie
his anger is calculated, he finds what hurts Lucifer, he finds his weakness, he grips onto it with both claws, and he drags it in front of him, mocking the fact that, yeah, sure Lucifer may outrank him, but in his daughters mind? one of the few things Lucifer can't control? Alastor has the power, has the lead - in all manners of 'power' and 'influence' that Lucifer cannot control, Alastor makes sure he knows he is on top - he is Charlie's favourite, he succeeds where Lucifer has failed her
regardless of his motives, he has been there for Charlie, and Lucifer hasn't, and that's all that matters
but why does he have this deep-rooted need to prove himself? why can he not accept that he is still the second most powerful in that hotel?
his need for power, for dominance, for control is shown again when Husk confronts him in the hallway
'big talk for someone who's also on a leash'
this time, Alastor doesn't even bother targeting Husker's, insecurities, his weaknesses
he drags him down the hallway chained at his neck, teeth gnashing and positively enraged
there's no typical Alastor intelligence or cunning behind this action - it is pure unadulterated rage, it's a: I can kill you, and I will
killing husk would be useless - Alastor obviously has a purpose for him, that's why he's been kept alive and the other overlords haven't, killing him would get rid of any leverage Alastor had, it would get rid of Husk full stop
Alastor has been gone for 7 years, and now he's back, supporting a cause he doesn't believe, forced to wander around the hotel halls and haunting its residents instead of freely roaming Hell
Lilith has also been gone 7 years - and she isn't yet back
Alastor just so happens to appear at the hotel mere moments after Charlie tries to talk to Lilith, marching into the foyer and wedging himself into the project with a showman's flair
he is chained, he is chained to that infernal hotel where he doesn't belong - he cannot be redeemed, he doesn't want to be redeemed
he is chained to Lilith, and by extension he is chained to Charlie
and in his eyes, he is powerless, so utterly and infuriatingly at the mercy of those above him, and that simply won't do
so what can he do? what can a man, whose greatest desire is power, who's biggest insecurity is the power and status he wields over others, do to reclaim some semblance of that power? how can he usurp Lilith? how can be make this soul-bond beneficial to him?
he can win Charlie over - he can replace her father in the process, he can mould her as he sees fit, he can play on her need to view the best in everyone, in the need to create friendships and her insatiable ability to care for those around her
he cannot get to Lilith, he cannot match Lucifer, but he can have Charlie
and he's nearly got her
and when he does? who's to say her naivety, her trust, the relationship he's intentionally crafted with her, leads her to strike a deal with him in a moment of need? when the angels attack, when the hotel begins to crumble, when heaven commands her to stop her efforts? why wouldn't she strike a deal, in her mind, he's as caring as a father figure, and a man who's been there since day one unlike either of her parents
she shakes his hand
he has her soul
he has Charlie, and he has Lilith, and he has Lucifer
there's nothing they can do, and isn't that really what power is? not raw-strength, not magic, not status, but the ability to control those who others may believe to be above your own station?
he's forced to the hotel, he's chained down and unable to grab for more power - if Lilith is preventing him from earning it himself, well, he can always just force her to give it to him
all it takes is one hand shake.
the cherry on top? he get's to show Lilith it's her own desire for him to be at the hotel that has allowed him to ensnare them all

Ok I have a little more now that my phone’s not dying:
- upon Amelthene and Corios’s acceptance of the goat god’s horns, the explorers are changed into goat people with horns that grant them mild telepathy (short-range, not passive)
-Amelthene and Corios can hear advice from the goat god as the bearers of his actual original horns(attached to their heads) but they have to both be attempting a connection at the same time and be within range of each other
-With the direct blessing of the goat god, Amelthene and Corios have enhanced abilities, immortality (but not invulnerability), and a little bit of credibility from the other gods
-As joint rulers of the perimeter, Amelthene tends to focus more on infrastructure and innovation while Corios works with the hearts of the people and any kind of military strategizing. Amelthene comes to their meetings like “I have a great idea to increase food production” and then Corios kicks down the door like “who wants to GO TO WAR with THE SKYYYY”
-to be fair they would have won the Great Sky War if the higher gods hadn’t intervened
-if he were still alive he would tell you about it at length (sadly, for reasons i will detail in another post, he is not alive, so this is my job now)
Here’s my Idea for perimeter lore (I really like writing mythology, sue me)
It’s your classic tale of a minor deity becoming too prideful and facing the wrath of a more powerful council of gods-- in the case of the goat god, a tinkerer bent on finding the holes and faults of the world, the others have become sick of his bragging about his incredible strength and cleverness. He is given a trial to overcome in order to regain his place among the pantheon.
“Dig to the bottom of the world,” They instruct him. “When you return, you will be given your title again.”
So he digs. He uses his powerful hooves as shovels and his massive horns as picks. He digs until he reaches the bottom of the world. And he laughs.
He grins at the sky, waiting for the others to see him and return him to the heavens, but there are no wings coming to carry him, no flash of lightning. His smile vanishes as he remembers: he had to dig to the bottom of the world, and then make it back out.
His legs are too tired to take another step. His hooves are worn and cracked. His once beautiful horns have eroded. His green fur is matted with grey dust. He cannot make it out.
The gods have had him dig his own grave.
The story does not end here, however. A team of explorers, seeking a better life, had fallen into a nearby cave. Desperately lost, they had followed the sound of the goat god’s laughter, hoping to find the surface. Instead they find the pit, the bottom of the world, and a despairing god.
They send their strongest warrior, Corios, and their cleverest mind, Amelthene, to beg the god for assistance, hoping against hope for survival. Upon hearing their plea, the goat god smiles wickedly.
“I will die here,” he begins, “but your people will not. Your community will grow, your society will prosper, and you will have my guidance for all time. All I ask, is that one day, you will not merely rival the gods, you destroy them.”
Not left with much of an option, Amelthene and Corios agree. As a symbol of the promise, the goat god gives them each one of his own horns, Amalthene takes the right and Corios takes the left.
And thus begins the civilization.
So there are some other things- the goat god’s previous exploits that led to this, the later adventures of Amelthene and Corios, who end up being kind of demigods in their own right, the collapse of the civilization after falling victim to the same hubris as the goat god, etc, but that’s my main premise.
