Johnny- a chocolate cupcake and I’d wash his jacket

Sodapop- brownies where I add too much cocoa powder and add frosting on top as well. And a girlfriend who doesn’t leave him.

Darry- a really good hug and a professional massage

two bit- marcia

ace- a pretty dress

Marcia- two bit

Cherry- a good nights sleep and a really good hug

Chet- a kick in the face (lovingly)

Paul- a gay flag

trip- a punch in the face

Bev- more cigarettes!!

Melvin- aces number

Sergei- a kiss with his best friend

The first Christmas after the Curtis parents die is not only the gangs first Christmas without them, it’s also their first Christmas without Johnny and Dally.

outsiders characters as things my campers have done from a 3 year camp counselor

disclaimer: i work primarily with early elementary ages kids and these are just meant to be silly i love all of these kids they are amazing tiny humans they are just also very silly sometimes

ponyboy: ask me everyday to look at my phone so that she could look at my backgrounds and ask me questions about every person in a picture

johnny: consistently beat the crap out of me at cards (he’s 8 and i was 17)

soda: had his counselor waterfall syrup straight from the bottle into his mouth when he won a game in celebration

steve: ran around with his backpack on the front, tripping and falling on top of the backpack, causing the bug spray in his backpack to explode (i had to dump at least 3 cups of bug spray out of his backpack)

two-bit: has the soundtrack to every descendants movie memorized and rapped it for me every day

dally: punch a kid in the balls in front of me for kicking over the stick house he made for rolly pollies and then immediately denying it

darry: insisted on carrying my two backpacks as well as his own and when i asked him if i could help him when he got tired carrying them up the hill, replied with “IM A REAL MAN AND A REAL MAN CARRIES A LADIES BAGS”

ace: ran an illegal gymnastics ring, teaching other kids gymnastics in the farthest corners of playing areas so as to not get caught.

cherry: inexplicably got covered in chocolate, cheeto dust, and glitter, we still have no idea where the glitter came from

marcia: sat me down every day during playground time, braided my hair, and would beef with me if i had to take it out at any point in the day

bev: got the entire camp organized to hold a wedding for two counselors (this has happened 3 years in a row)

bob: cried (loudly) for two hours straight and then stopped on a dime and just said “i’m done now”

chet: when his two friends suggested that they get out of the pool so they had time to get dressed, gave a very confused look before mumbling to himself “i don’t even know if i have a dress”

brill: sneezed in my hair. (he has the vibe of an allergy king)

trip: stood no more than a foot away from me at all i times. i would take a step back, he would take a step forward. this went on for a full month.

paul: bit me.

thinking about how ace canonically flirts with a ton of people at the drive in based on things that have been said in the soc saturday live streams (correct me if i’m wrong) and also goes through the effort to desexualize herself. important to me. there is something there hope this helps.

Okay, this is a really long one, so BUCKLE UP.

In the script, she's described as a tomboy (from what I've heard), but I've also read some hcs that she actually likes presenting fem, but that's just a hc (edit: this is actually canon, the tomboy style is a defence mechanism -> reblog by @specific-dreamer :)). She's very bold and will tell anyone what she thinks. She's more likely to show them, though; in Friday at the drive-in, she pushes Bob off of the tire, in Tulsa '67, she very openly flips off the socs... I don't know if we have any info on her family??? (Edit: we do, @specific-dreamer added on in the reblog :))

Almost all the greaser boys are always doing lifts with her or carrying her or whatnot. She doesn't mind either. She's always having fun. They all respect her, too.

She's friends with Dally. In the scene where they all come together after Ponyboy got jumped, she did a sort or handshake with him, so I feel like they get along fine.

She has this flirty friendship with Soda. People always wonder if they're joking or not (they are). For example, after Soda's verse in Grease Got A Hold (which was all about getting girls), he says: "Ain't that right, Ace?" and she answers with: "You wish." and shakes her ass a bit. I feel like they call each other the worst sappy pet names just to piss the other off.

Anyway, Ace and Darrel. Darrel is the most gentlemanly of the greasers. Everyone's respectful, but him especially. I think that out of everyone, Ace is the only person Darrel allows himself to be a bit more at ease with. During Hoods Turned Heroes, he lifts her up, and he's smiling. He also helps her onto the greasers' car when she could easily do it herself. A few other examples bc I love them to death: during Grease Got A Hold, she yells: "I love you, Superman!" at Darrel, at the end of Hoods Turned Heroes, she jumps on his back... I can't really explain their friendship, but I love them sm.

Two-Bit and Ace!!! In my opinion, they're kind of like Ace and Soda, except their friendship more on the physical side (dancing together, cuddling under the bench at the drive-in...). It's not really flirting. Their love language is just physical touch. (They're besties, your honour.)

We don't have that much info on musical!Steve or Ace in general, so I don't have much to say about them. I'm not saying they aren't great friends. They are. She's leaning on him during GGAH, he throws her to Two-Bit in FATDI...

With Ponyboy, she shares a couple high-fives and a little twirl in Tulsa '67. I don't really have much more. I'm sorry. She doesn't really have any moments with Johnny (I think?).

Finally, romantic interests. Tilly (Ace's actress) has told us that Ace has a big fat crush on Bev/Beverly (a soc girl they added). Bev hates Ace, though. So, yeah... My personal hc is that they were friends as kids, grew up and developed crushes on each other in like middle school, dated secretly for a while, but then Bev broke it off because, as a soc, she can't be dating greasers. So, now she hates Ace and all greasers bc she's petty like that (no bev hate). I would talk about them more, but this post is already way too fucking long, so I'll end it here.

This was my (not so) short take on Ace :).

My sister ( @suesdebut ) and I were talking about how out of every peice of media the outsiders was the one that stuck such a prominent chord with me is because of how I identify with each character. One at a time and all at once. At least every point in my life I have identified with each character.

At one point I have been Ponyboy Curtis. Misunderstood and feeling everything too sharply, writing everything down in hopes that I can make some sense of it all.

At one point I have been Sodapop Curtis. Stuck in the middle, voice going unheard yet still having to put on a brave face for those that believe I haven’t been anything other than brave.

At one point I have been Darrel Curtis. My focus solely on my baby sisters, protecting them and making sure nothing happens to them, carrying every responsibility of the oldest sibling. A child raising children.

At one point I have been Dallas Winston. Alone in every way that was possible, spitting blood with nothing but my sharp tongue and fire in my veins to protect me.

At one point I have been Two-Bit Matthews. Jokes and quick remarks distracting from the human underneath everything.

At one point I have been Ace Evans. Dressed like a little tomboy, shifting eyes, not sure who to trust, moving so quick you hardly have time to look.

At one point I have been Johnny Cade. Small and invisible, shrunken inward and so painfully quiet that nobody knew the world was crumbling beneath my feet.

At one point I have been Steve Randle. Spewing blood and bile, hatred and resentment at the world through my bitter upcoming, always placed second next to a beautiful best friend that everyone seemed to prefer.

At one point I have been Cherry Valence. Oldest daughter, fighting with my father when my mother wouldn’t, trying to hard to be good at school and sports and friends when you really don’t feel at home anywhere.

The Curtis brothers were NEXT LEVEL last night y’all, idk what it was but they were making me sob more than usual

Pony was completely curled up into Sodas lap after Johnny died and just sobbing while Sodas held him

Brent’s voice crack on “we love you…did you hear what I said Pony? I said I love you” was just so crazy😭

Josh and Brody also have fantastic chemistry as Pony and Johnny!! Literally a 10/10 and got to see Jordan!Ace! Which was cool!

Curtis gang post canon having a pool party at Marcia’s house (with marbit and cherrycola)

-ok so Marcia has this really big pool at her house

-and one day when her parents are away and it’s super hot, two bit convinces her to invite the gang over

-it’s chaos

-they are splashing each other and wrestling each other in the water and having sooo much fun

-ya know that game where people sit on top of each others shoulders and try and get the other person to fall into the water? They go to town with that game

-Ace is on Darry’s shoulders and soda is on Steve’s shoulders and ace and soda are pushing and shoving and going to war

-they’re having soooo much fun

-pony being scared of swimming cuz he was almost drowned by Bob is so cannon to me

-he sits with his book on a beach chair the whole time

-cherry comes over and talks with him because sorry they’re besties, but she also swims a ton

-Marcia’s always happiest when she’s swimming, and so two bit is always most in love with her when she’s swimming, so they spend the a lot of the time away from the crowd being tooth rottingly cute

-but he definitely does spend some time lowkey drowning soda, dw tho they’re doing it to each other!

-them and Steve roughhousing in the pool is so real to me

-ace also loves swimming and I think her and Marcia spend some time doing laps together

-darry falls asleep on a beach chair next to pony cuz lord knows he needs some relaxation

Thinking about Christmas Eve at the Curtis House. Thinking about how it would’ve been the happiest place. But nothing can stay perfect.

Mrs. Curtis would’ve been cooking in the kitchen with Darry. Mr. Curtis would’ve been helping them too. Soda and Two-Bit would’ve been wrestling in the floor, trying not to run into a table. Steve and Ace would’ve been laughing at them and cracking jokes about how they hoped it wouldn’t mess up their “gorgeous faces”. Thinking about how Pony and Johnny would’ve been kinda curled up together on the couch, sitting with their shoulders against each other, under a blanket. Dallas would’ve been behind them, making sure to keep an eye on Johnny.

Thinking about how it would’ve been so full of joy and family and belonging. They’d have light hearted banter, playful remarks, and loving touches. Thinking about how, if they were still alive, the Curtis parents would’ve loved meeting Cherry and Marcia. And I’m thinking about how the first Christmas after everything that happened felt so small. Because their group was down 4 people. 4 people who filled their group with so much joy and love. 4 people who completed their little group.

But it’s bittersweet. Because the world continues. Soda and Two Bit will still wrestle and almost knock over something. Steve and Ace will still laugh at them. Darry is still in the kitchen. And Pony is still on the couch. The world keeps turning, even if their little misfit family is fractured and will never be whole again.
