not just the greasers. not just dallas winston and johnny cade.

but the socs too. each and everyone one of them.

it's the whole reason why everyone is in that number. because, yes; it's the finale. but it's a finale of a show where everyone is an outsider to the town, to their friends and to their lives. a show where everyone can feel they are upset with their lives and have bad lives and have troubles of their own. where everyone feels judged and hurt and upset.

More of Paul and Darry being bitter exes since they’re clawing at my mind

- Paul used to have a crush on Darry as a kid when he would see him around school (like elementary) (also it was so one-sided)

- They met through football, where they were awful competitive but good buddies after

- Paul was already crushing and it took a while for Darry to feel the same but they got there

- They started dating in secret, hanging out and having sleepovers as friends all the time

- They both knew that after high school they’d have to split anyway, since college and social class would pull them away

- They didn’t break up after high school though

- They broke up towards the end of Senior Year when Paul and his soc buddies jumped Soda

- Darry found out and immediately broke up with Paul, even though Paul tried to tell Darry he didn’t anything

- Darry holds a grudge against Paul for hurting Soda, Paul holds a grudge for Darry being stereotypical

- Paul is quickly pursuing a girl soon out of the high school, which leaves Darry angry since they just broke up

- Darry doesn’t have time to date since he’s busy with work and his brothers but he also doesn’t want someone to hurt his brothers again

outsiders characters as things my campers have done from a 3 year camp counselor

disclaimer: i work primarily with early elementary ages kids and these are just meant to be silly i love all of these kids they are amazing tiny humans they are just also very silly sometimes

ponyboy: ask me everyday to look at my phone so that she could look at my backgrounds and ask me questions about every person in a picture

johnny: consistently beat the crap out of me at cards (he’s 8 and i was 17)

soda: had his counselor waterfall syrup straight from the bottle into his mouth when he won a game in celebration

steve: ran around with his backpack on the front, tripping and falling on top of the backpack, causing the bug spray in his backpack to explode (i had to dump at least 3 cups of bug spray out of his backpack)

two-bit: has the soundtrack to every descendants movie memorized and rapped it for me every day

dally: punch a kid in the balls in front of me for kicking over the stick house he made for rolly pollies and then immediately denying it

darry: insisted on carrying my two backpacks as well as his own and when i asked him if i could help him when he got tired carrying them up the hill, replied with “IM A REAL MAN AND A REAL MAN CARRIES A LADIES BAGS”

ace: ran an illegal gymnastics ring, teaching other kids gymnastics in the farthest corners of playing areas so as to not get caught.

cherry: inexplicably got covered in chocolate, cheeto dust, and glitter, we still have no idea where the glitter came from

marcia: sat me down every day during playground time, braided my hair, and would beef with me if i had to take it out at any point in the day

bev: got the entire camp organized to hold a wedding for two counselors (this has happened 3 years in a row)

bob: cried (loudly) for two hours straight and then stopped on a dime and just said “i’m done now”

chet: when his two friends suggested that they get out of the pool so they had time to get dressed, gave a very confused look before mumbling to himself “i don’t even know if i have a dress”

brill: sneezed in my hair. (he has the vibe of an allergy king)

trip: stood no more than a foot away from me at all i times. i would take a step back, he would take a step forward. this went on for a full month.

paul: bit me.

Soft rays of sunlight peaked their way through the blinds, gently illuminating the two boys who laid on the bed. Their limbs were tangled, and it was difficult to tell where one started and the other began. A discarded book had fallen to the floor, and soft snores could be heard if one listened close enough.

Darry watched the scene from the doorway, an expressionless look on his face. He watched his brother and the younger Shepard boy, who seemed to be completely comfortable in each other’s presence. Darry knew Pony had expected him to be off. And that they’d be able to hide safely. So Darry wouldn’t say anything. He didn’t want to disturb them.

Besides, they reminded him of how he acted with a boy in his past. He just hoped it worked out for them.

Literally just realized that in Justice for Tulsa, Paul tries twice to falsely implicate Cherry. The obvious one is accusing her of, horror of horrors, holding hands with Pony at the concession stand when she didn't. But in the live performance he tries to make her testify to the Cop abt who killed Bob before he does when she wasn't a witness at the scene, and probably didn't even know it was happening until after the fact bc her break up with Bob stuck and presumably she went home with Marcia.

Parry Headcanons

They started dating in freshman year and only broke up a few months before the story takes place

Paul would invite Darry over and they'd lay on the floor in his bedroom and mention marrying each other one day

As soon as the news of the Curtis parents dying reached him, Paul booked a flight and went home to Tulsa from college to make sure Darry was okay

They broke up when Darry realized he couldn't be a boyfriend father and brother and had to end things

They both cried that night and yelled at each other

But Paul still showed up at the funeral

And eight months later he dropped out of college and returned because he realized his heart was with Darry not school

He tried to make amends but he couldn't bring himself to go to his house after never calling

So instead he jumps Darry's kid brother knowing Darry will show up

And he does but Paul panics and runs away

During the rumble he doesn't want to fight Darry but he would rather fight him and let him win than let someone beat Darry up

He throws the first punch when Darry looks away because he can't look into his eyes while hitting him

Because it's raining Darry doesn't notice Paul is crying paul doesnt notice darry is too

Paul is actually the last soc to leave the lot because he just stands there watching Darry go to the same kid brother Paul had beat up just a week before out of heartbreak

After the rumble a girl says a greaser was shot and killed and Paul had a panic attack thinking it was Darry and all he can think is he never got to apologize or say goodbye

He does actually go to Darry's to check on him and Darry tells him to go to hell and that he hates him

And later that night Paul actually cries himself to sleep so does darry because that was his last chance to make things right

They don't actually hate each other they just think the others hates him

Paul ends up leaving Tulsa for good because everywhere he looks he sees Darry

And Darry finds out when he finds a ring Paul had given him when whispering they would one day get married and he goes to give it back he said it was for closure or to hurt paul but really he just missed his face but Paul wasn't there

A soc tells him that Paul moved away a month ago

And Darry spends the entire day looking all over town for Paul before accepting it

They never actually see each other again but sometimes at night they have "nightmares" about their time together

Paul marries a girl that reminds him of Darry and sometimes almost says his name even so many years later because he will always be Darry's

And Darry never dates again because he will always be Paul's and no one makes him feel the way Paul made him feel
