So, you know that ISAT au I mentioned in my yass-girlboss King post??

HHHHHEEEERE WE GO .... info below keep reading!!! lots of words!!!! In Stars And Time FULL spoilers!!!!!

(Note: The Reset AU will be posted on @slowlysoluminary but i will be reblogging from my main)

There are some really interesting Siffrin-Meets-The-King-First aus that float around. I see them sometime! they're great! But I, as an adoring King fan, had to sit down and ask myself:

"So, uhh, like why?"

AND I DID SOME THINKING!!!!!

The King notices you're looping in Act 3. That's great! Not for Siffrin, but great narratively. If he notices it in that loop specifically, I feel like he would notice in other loops, too.

So, Act 5. The King notices how much of a formidable opponent siffrin is (among other things), acknowledges he's from the same country, recognizes wish craft, yadda yadda yadda.

He wants Siffrin to understand and resonate with his reasons for trapping an entire country in time, and while Siffrin is busy in his mind space fighting Mal Du Pays, the King makes a wish. AND HE LOOPS!!!!!??????

... Uhh, kind of? Not really. It resets the timeline all the way back to when the country was erased, but instead of the King having full memory, they're more like... vague snippets that hint at what he once was.

So, um! The first part of the AU is about the King's 10-year-long descent into madness. It's heavily condensed but it's there!! there's lore there!! I'm a king fan he needs a backstory.

"His name is Lazare" HE HAD TO HAVE A NAME BEFORE HIS KING DAYS... it's heavily implied the King wasn't his original name, and my headcanon helpfully supplied that he underwent a Change inside the house during his rise to power. I think there's like, a Head Defender? And the King was Head Defender, with full access to all libraries inside the house, when he started going crazy.

At 22 he loses all his memory while travelling in Vaugarde. Nobody knows his name so he comes up with one! He meets Siffrin 4 years later and they both travel Vaugarde together.

He becomes a defender at 29 because we see firsthand how INVESTED this dude is in Vaugarde. He wants, NEEDS this country to be safe!! he has a lot of patriotism!!! He's not actively searching for what happened to him or his country, he's just accepted it and is building himself up as a person.

oh boy .. when he turns 31 he becomes Head Defender.... And when he starts reading higher-access books throughout the house documenting a disappearing country? He gets MORBIDLY curious. And... well... this fixation leads him down the rabbit hole that got him where he is today! Except, this time, with Siffrin on his side...?

Yup! Siffrin is here! They've been here the whole time! Siffrin watches a man he's grown to love and adore fall into the Deep End. And he would find the strength to be mad about what he's doing if it weren't for the fact he was super sympathetic!!! ugh!!! sympathy!!!

Siffrin agrees with the King... but not really? He agrees with his reasons but completely disagrees with the way he's going about it. The change from Lazare to King was gradual, but towards the end he treats Siffrin more like an object of study than a friend.

The King takes his cloak and hat to study the stitching, the King won't let him cut or dye his hair again because he wants (NEEDS) this still image of his culture, etc.

Siffrin pretends his behavior doesn't bother him (because the King goes full Mansplain Manipulate Malewife on him if he voices his dissent) and keeps sneaking away from the King using his hat-less/cloak-less disguise.

In doing so, he meets a wild Mirabelle! It becomes a habit to visit her and the villagers under this "disguise" (it's only convincing in the way that Clark Kent is convincing) and he's feeling that same friendship with them that he used to back when the King was Lazarus.

... Until the House gets frozen? And the king starts Freezing People In Time For Real? No warning? Siffrin is HORRIFIED, rightfully, and also super upset. Partly because Mirabelle "got frozen" (she did not get frozen) and partly because the king has TOTALLY LOST HIS MIND NOW. no trace or remnant of who he used to be. but siffrin wants to hold on.

and then Siffrin gets stuck in a time loop! Whoops! Honest mistake!

"How does he get stuck in a Time Loop if there's no party to stick with?" ok so. of course he's going to learn Wish Craft from the King, duh. The King tells him literally everything about rhe country as he discovers it (albeit, in incoherent rambles.). And he also has his own muscle memory to draw from!

In desperation, he makes a wish: Save Vaugarde/Sav the King.

"Which one of those two is it?" Idk! That's what he spends the timeloops finding out!

Oh, wait, now that I've talked about the time loops, I CAN TALK ABOUT LOOP!!! LOOP IS NEW AND DIFFERENT!!!

^^ This was the initial ref sheet i made while brainstorming for this au (and also the sheet that birthed King In Magical Girl Poses)

"So what's loop's deal?" yeah, um, that's the thing? Loop doesn't know either!

Loop is not hiding their identity! Much like King, they domn't remember anything until afterthe Reset. They're Siffrin, yes, but not Siffrin from SASASA:AP. They're Siffrin from In Stars and Time. They're THE Siffrin that the King's wish Reset!

Thus, Loop looks very different!!!! And acts a little bit different!!! Siffrin is the only one who can see Loop, for the time being, and they follow him throughout the loops instead of staying stagnant under the Favor Tree.

They don't like the idea of not knowing who they are, or where they're from. Siffrin sympathizes with the star, initially thinking that they just... had the same thing happen to them that happened to the king? But the reason Loop follows Siffrin through the house is because they NEED to know who they used to be, and what in the Universe happened to them. Certain things trigger certain memories, and... it certainly doesn't help that the party enters the fray.

"So was the King's wish not important?" THE KING'S WISH WAS VERY IMPORTANT.

Not only did it CAUSE the reset, but it gave King the precise tools to get a timeline that fulfilled his wish (It's not the Universe's fault he lost himself and his only chance).

BUT ALSO!! ALSOOOOOOO!!!! THE KING'S WISH CORRUPTED THE WHOLE TIMELINE.

Loops are meant to reset to the day before, with no one"s memory remaining except for Siffrin's.

This loop completely Reset the timeline.

The King kept hints of his memories from the past.

The party gets dejá vū from the moment they meet to the moment they step foot in the house. They feel like something is missing.

Loop shouldn't be here. Loop should be... Loop. Loop didn't wish to be here - it's a direct violaton of his initial wish to stay with his friends, but it's a wish that technically got overwritten when the Reset happened?

Ironically, Siffrin is the only one Out Of The Loop (hehe)

Therapy Vs. Power Fantasy

Like a sage delving through cursed tomes to discover lost truths I recently I stumbled into some of the danker corners of the internet and abzorbed some absolutely vile takes. One of the recurring themes that popped up was people with rancid personal beleifs taking aim at the newer generations of TTRPG players (d&d and otherwise) for finding personal meaning or catharsis in their games, and how these new gamers were spoiled children who were getting overinvested.

Of course, they contrasted this "bitch" behavior there's a lot of other mysoginistic, homophobic, and ableist slurs they like to throw in when youtube TOS isn't looking with the badass way they play the game, like they've been doing ever since they were kids, like they still do in their playrooms mancaves away from all those pissbabies and girl feelings.

This got me thinking, specifically about power fantasies, how vunrability relates to art, and how repressed men are terrified of seeming weak, and how the early d&d lore is laregely based around childhood or adolesent fears.

The tie between media illiteracy and conservatism is nothing new. To enjoy art, you have to open yourself to it, to the chance of elation or disapointment or challenge, to let it resonate with you in ways you can't nessisarily predict or control. The fascist conservative only likes art that reinforces who they perceive themselves to be, strokes their ego, and confirms their biases about how the world should be.

It's very telling then that when you see chuds talking shit about younger d&d players, they often throw "therapy" around as an insult, because much in the same way that art can touch something inside you, therapy is about challenging your ingranned self image, toxic ego, and beleifs... all things that chuds consider vital to their sense of self.

This is not to say that a power fantasy can't be theraputic: a good portion of my own writing is about vicariously smashing broken systems and ousting the corruption of the world.. but there's a fundimental difference in the power fantasy of raising your fist against unjust power and the fantasy of being the boot inflicting that power downwards on those you dislike.

What the chuds are trying to do here is use d&d (or whatever OSR itteration they've decided to parasite this week) as a balm for their insecurity, not ask questions about WHY they're scared of being weak, or what strength really is, but to have a space where they can larp as being the ubermench real MEN they've always fallen short of IRL.

They're people who were bullied and ostrasized, and like good little bootlickers they've decided that the only thing wrong with their abuse was that they were the ones on the reciving end. Part of the reason they're so upset that this new generation of players is so "woke" is because the "woke" players refuse to put up with them being assholes, dening them the chance to establish themselves as the new top-rung in the abuser hierarchy.

Also, before I sign off, mad love to my friends in the OSR community, I know you have to put up with an above average number of these dipshits and while you prefer a different style of game to mine I know we're all fighting the good fight for a better, more welcoming TTRPG hobby.

What do you think of season 2 of arcane? i've seen quite... a contrasting reaction from the public when compared to the reaction that s1 got

[cracks knuckles] ok, first some context: I was, and still am, largely unfamiliar with the League of Legends video games, which probably colors my perception of Arcane as a whole. The first season was incredible. 10/10 no notes. It's a masterpiece of animation hands down. One of its many strengths is that it sticks to a self-contained story that does not require lore knowledge or even knowledge of who the characters from the games are. It's a character drama wrapped in a steampunk/sci-fi/fantasy aesthetic. It tells a grounded story that follows its characters as their arcs play out all the way through to the end. I love it and habitually rewatched it while waiting for season 2.

...And then season 2 came and it kinda went. I enjoyed the season. The animation, music, voice acting, all incredible and it's what makes the season a joyride. But that's pretty much what it is. A joyride. That grounded story and character drama was largely dropped for bigger stakes and it feels like the season lost the plot. You were invested in the Zaun/Piltover conflict? Let's have Jayce give a half-assed speech about working together to defeat a common enemy and give Sevika a token seat at the councillors' table. You wanted to see how Jinx and Vi's relationship developed after the bombing? Well, Vi says "my sister is gone." Until Vander/Warwick shows up. But they don't really talk about their relationship or how much they've both changed. They're just cool with each other know.

Did you want to see how Jinx deals with the fallout of killing her father figure and embracing the role of the Mad Bomber? Well, she kinda mopes for a bit. Finds a street urchin that magically cures her of her mental instability. oops, street urchin is dead. Jinx is depressed now. fun. It's not like the marketing lead us to believe that Jinx was going to be an actual antagonist, right?

right?

Now, I know trailers and posters can be misleading but come on. Season 1 ended with her fully becoming Jinx and I feel like she was more Jinx-like there than in season 2.

We got less of the sisters than in the first season despite being the emotional core of the story. Part of that is the escalating conflict and having far too many antagonists. We have Ambessa, Viktor, and the Black Rose and they all take up too much screen time (this last one was a huge ??? for me as a noob to the games. Actually, Mel's whole arc in season 2 was so divorced from season 1 that it feels like they just gave her magic powers just so she could participate in the fight). The other part is that when the sisters are together, they don't really say or do anything meaningful. The dialogue is rather boilerplate and there's no emotional weight to their scenes. It's just there.

That's really my problem with season 2 as a whole, it just feels like it's ticking off boxes to get to the big action sequences, and even some of those felt superfluous (did we really need a fight scene with Smeech? Smeech? Who the fuck is he and why should we care?). The funny thing is that, there are a lot of good ideas here. Jinx feeling conflicted about suddenly being seen as a symbol of the people? Awesome! Caitlyn falling under the sway of Ambessa as she mourns her mother and gasses innocent civilians in her mad pursuit of Jinx? Great! Viktor slowly losing his humanity and becoming the Machine Herald while Jayce struggles to right what they have wronged and get his friend back? Excellent! The problem is that they're all crammed together and don't get room to breathe, so everything is rushed and unsatisfactory.

When your first season ends with four people at a dinner table that explores their character dynamics and your second season's climax looks like a Marvel movie, there's a problem.

(also, side tangent: Silco and Vander's backstory was shoddy and contradictory. Making them BFFs with Vi and Jinx's mom was a bad idea. It cheapens Vander's decision to leave behind a life of violence and adopt two orphans. It introduces a plot hole that Silco wasn't around for the kids' childhood and makes that moment when he tries to kill Powder extra weird. PLUS, we have the ever lovely trope of fridging a woman and making her the catalyst of conflict between two male characters 😒

although this season did make me ship these two, so there's that👍)

(another mini tangent: I'm not fond of making a time traveling Viktor the one who gave baby Jayce the rune stone. That scene was one of my favorites from season 1 and the mage actually being Viktor just makes the world feel smaller and less enigmatic YMMV).

So there you have it. An overall okay season but one that pales in comparison to its predecessor.

i've done part of this before so if it seems familiar it's because i copied and pasted it lol!! jareau!reader lore from season 4-15+ below.

so technically, the first time they ever cross paths is in season 4 when Henry is born. obviously, it makes sense for j!reader to be there especially since she went to Georgetown. they don't officially meet until season 6 when reader takes JJ's spot on the team (but as a profiler) so in this specific AU, Seaver doesn't exist.

reader is 100% already smitten from the moment she meets him, but there's always this omnipresent fear of ruining the team dynamic or whatever reason reader can come up with. so in season 6 she actually gets a boyfriend, but her and Spencer remain really close friends throughout. he's also going through his whole migraine thing at the time. and then we hit the Lauren arc. i cannot disclose a lot about this because it may or may not be getting it's own fic, but they lean on each other heavy during that time.

in season 7 we obviously start with Spencer being an absolute dweeb to JJ, putting reader in the middle of it. again, i cannot disclose exactly what happens here, because it will potentially be in it's own fic. within season 7 reader breaks up with her bf and Spencer comforts her because they ended on bad terms, but Spencer is so heinously down bad for this girl that he doesn't even care that he's comforting her over another guy. there's a lot of like build up to this and they're kind of stuck in this "will they? wont they?" limbo and they're scared of ruining their friendship. when the bomb goes off in the season 7 finale, reader's in the building and Spencer freaks. they start dating shortly after JJ's wedding (which is why the line “She met Will and got pregnant and got married and you were so in love with her that you took the off-brand version just to have something.” from the ffofa 1 is so important).

that more or less brings us to season 8. home run takes place following "god complex" where they're dating and so stupid in love. their relationship is a secret at first, until lock and key happens and they come clean to everyone. i also feel it goes without saying that Maeve doesn't exist in this AU. they move in together during season 8 and they just coexist for the majority of 8, 9, and 10 because the seasons that come at traumatizing. there's also the lost daughter in season 9 and for the season 9 finale reader has a full fledged breakdown when Spencer is shot in the neck <333 but central nervous system takes place in season 10. around the end of season 10 they're talking about maybe getting married but i squash their dreams come season 11.

in season 11 there's the dirty dozen arc and Diana's Alzheimers diagnosis which puts a hold on their future plans. they're long distance while Spencer is with his mom in Las Vegas and they adopt a "one step at a time" mindset.

season 12!!! a big one for sure. reader does not agree with Spencer bringing his mom home to stay with them but she respects his decision even though it brings some issues to their relationship. she's mad at him for lying when he goes to Mexico but is obviously worried about his well-being. she helps him decide how he wants to plea. they write each other while he's in prison but she doesn't visit. they have a very wholesome reunion, she goes with him and JJ to confront Cat, and Spencer loses his mind when the team is in that car accident at the end of the season.

Spencer does not think he's going to be reinstated in season 13 but she hypes him up and when she's in town and he's on sabbatical she goes to his lectures to support him. she gets fired by Linda Barnes and does something similar to what Tara does because her background is in psych. my girl jareau!reader fully crashes out when Spencer and Penelope are kidnapped at the end of season 13 - another trauma that limits their ability to move forward with their relationship because they want to be in the right headspace <3

they do a lot of minding their own business in season 14, which makes sense because there's a lot going on with the rest of the team. that all leads up to the season 14 finale which, of course, is the beginning of for the fear of falling apart and takes us through season 15. they get married following the series finale.

post-series, neither of them fully go back to the BAU. Spencer consults and teaches and reader consults and goes back to working in psych. they have the cutest most wonderful family ever and i love them.

Dating Jason Todd (Part Fourteen: Red Hood)

If you liked the Titans show but wish they handled Jason’s story line differently you might like this fic!

I’m gonna be taking inspo from under the red hood, titans, Arkham knight, comic lore, the Batman, arrowverse and my imagination lol. Of course I don’t own any dc characters this is purely fanfic. Reader is referred to as she/her.

Heyyyy, inspiration just struck me for some reason today. Also so like yk how tik tok got banned for like three hours, well I deleted it and now can’t get it back (don’t worry I saved my favorited edits to pinterest lol). But anyway I’m pissed cause like they took away freedom of speech but also on the other hand I was planning on deleting it away and so now that it’s gone my screen time has been down so much and like I’m off my phone and not doomscrolling anymore and that’s been actually amazing. So yeah long story short mad about the reasoning behind its deletion but happy that I’m not doomscrolling anymore and have a lot of energy back. Anyways I got some more ideas for the red hood plot. I’m probably gonna post a couple more parts to this section of the dating Jason Todd fic but then I’m gonna do another series that is a backstory for this one (so that one’s gonna be reader meeting dick and Jason and becoming a titan).

Part Fourteen: Red Hood

The drive is silent, you fell asleep halfway through and when you open your eyes again, you’re outside the Queen mansion.

“Please please don’t run off again,” Dick says quietly. Even though he’s quiet you can still hear the undertone of anger in his voice.

“I didn’t ask you to go after me,” you snap.

“Listen,” he says turning his head. “I know you think no one’s gonna give you any crap because Jason died,” he sounds so harsh it shocks you. “And I know you and I made up but i won’t let you keep being an asshole to everyone including me in hopes of pushing us away.” “Just because he died doesn’t give you the right to pretend like he’s the only thing, the only person in your life that mattered cause he wasn’t.” You just stare at him with sadness and frustration. You knew he was right and truthfully a couple weeks ago in Chicago you were genuinely happy you and Dick made up, but now he was pissing you off and you were going to make that obvious.

“Thanks for the ride,” you say sarcastically as you grab your bag from the backseat. You get out of the car and see him about to as well. “Dont worry you can watch me go inside to make sure I don’t run off.” You walk to the door and knock. Quickly Thea opens the door, Dick must’ve texted her. Before stepping inside you yell to Dick, “have a nice ride back to San Francisco fuckface.”

“What was that about?” Thea asks.

“Don’t worry about it, he’s just pissing me off,” you say. “I’m sorry I ran off and scared you.”

“You scared everyone,” she says.

“Doesn’t mean I’m going to apologize to everyone,” you say.

“You will…eventually,” she says calmly. “But until then the professional on grief, myself, is here to put up with your mood swings and reckless behavior,” she announces falsely enthusiastically.

“I missed you…I missed being here,” you say.

“Course you missed me in the bestest friend ever,” she says playfully pulling you into a hug. “It’ll get better eventually,” she says in a more serious tone.

A week later and things had in fact not gotten better. Sure you stopped being reckless and snappy but it became the exact opposite. You were unusually quiet, only speaking when someone talked to you first. You spoke softly and slowly, normally you talk a million words per minute. Thea was freaked out by this behavior but you assured her you were fine, just grieving. What she didn’t know was when you were alone, assumed to be reading or doing whatever, you just stared off into space. No music, no TV, just nothingness. Dick hadn’t called you directly. Thea told you he’d been texting her asking how you were to which Thea pointed out how fucking weird the dynamic of your and his friendship is. Rachel called you a couple of times, you answered even though you didn’t want to talk with anyone. Your family back in central city didn’t suspect anything. You didn’t want to worry them or have your mother demand you come home so you acted normal. They knew you dated Jason so they asked how things were going and you simply responded things were fine. He’d never met them, you’d actually been trying to find a weekend to roadtrip to central so he could finally met them, then he died.

You figured Dick and the titans would be going back to the tower but apparently there was some new freak in a mask running around Gotham. So much has changed, but Gotham remains the same old crazy city. The guys calling himself “Red Hood”, or something like that. Apparently he’s killed a bunch of dealers who sell to kids, honestly you couldn’t really argue with that and you knew Jason would see nothing wrong. But since he’s killing, Dick and everyone else have decided he’s their new problem since Joker has been unusually quiet. You don’t even cry anymore and you’re sick of it. You’re sick of acting normal to your parents, of Thea being perfect and understanding, of being angry at Dick, of Dick pissing you off, of being weird to Rachel, of doing nothing. As night approaches you get an idea, a bizarre disturbing self-sabotaging idea. That night once Thea was asleep in the other room, you closed the door to the guest room and turned off the lights. You’re terrified of the dark, yet you turned out the lights; desperate to feel something. Even if that feeling is fear. You sit in the middle of the bed waiting. Waiting for the vines, the terror, the panic that always accompanied the darkness you avoided religiously. The vines never came. Oddly you still felt numb. You weren’t scared, you were sad. Sad that this is what your life had come to. And sad you’d gotten so low you attempted to scare yourself. Suddenly something moved in the darkness. The vines, you thought. It’s always the vines. This time as different though. It was as if the room went cold, a shiver ran up your spine. Suddenly something human shaped moved toward you with a stumble. Your eyes grew wide as you were faced with a hallucination of Jason’s corpse. Quickly you moved away from it and sweared for the light switch. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!” You say frustrated unable to find the light. Suddenly someone else flicks on the light and the image of Jason’s corpse disappears. You turn toward the light switch expecting to see Thea, instead you’re faced with a man in a red mask; redhood. “Shit,” you say knowing he’s not another hallucination and very much real. You dash towards the gun in the nightstand and hold it up towards him.

“Why would you turn the light off,” you look at him with confusion. “You’re scared of the dark,” he says as if he knows you.

“What the fuck do you want,” you say still pointing the gun at him.

“I’m not gonna hurt you,” he says as he takes a step closer. Without hesitation you shoot him in the arm.

“Leave!” You shout. You hold the gun toward him as he walks to the window he broke in.

“I-“ he starts to say.

“I said leave!” You shout as you fire the gun at his head. He’s quick enough jumping out the window so you miss. Seconds later Thea comes running in, holding a gun of her own. Seeing the intruder is gone she lowers her weapon.

“Thought you’d have a bow and arrow,” you say sarcastically.

“I would’ve thought the same of you,” she says playing into your joke.

“What can I say…I was in a rush,” you joke. “Fucking hell this means I have to talk to Dick,” you add.

“Unfortunately yes. Even more unfortunately I have to leave. Oliver’s dealing with Ra’s al Ghul for the millionth time. I guess someone used the Lazarus pit without permission and Ra’s thinks it was Oli,” she says.

“If Jason wasn’t so stubborn and against resurrection I’d have thrown him in,” you say half joking.

“You can still stay here of course, but I have to leave,” she says.

“Course I understand,” you assure her. “Unfortunately I should go to Gotham,” you say. “I have to figure out what this redhood asshole wants.”

Anyways!! Here’s some of the stuff I loved from the atla live action!

•cinematography, soundtrack, costumes - all on point

•getting to see the airbenders flourishing!!! Also the dude who played Gyatso?! Didn’t think I could love him more!! Even though it was painful as FUCKKKK getting to see the first invasion of the fire benders was an epic masterpiece

•speaking of, the first scene?? With the earthbender soldiers in the fire nation?? Iconic

•Omashu: unpop opinion I’m sure (bc y’all hate change but simultaneously hate when it’s carbon copy????????🤦🏼‍♀️) I loved how they incorporated like 3 or 4 episodes into one, and they flowed really well together. Jet is FOINEEE. Mechanist was perfect & his son is a freaking badass, amazing casting! Even though it was change, the secret tunnel scenes were still really freaking cool and the badgermoles were SICK AS FUCK. Also I love that Bumi was still cooky but not just randomly cooky? Like mans was run down from being king basically the entire war…which FAIR. And it made sense that he was peeved with Aang BECAUSE they were such good friends. Like the other avatars being mad at him? Yea that’s whatever. But for Bumi it was kinda personal. Also CABBAGE MAN WE MISSED YOU 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Oh! And the way they mentioned other episodes like they were lore when Zuko was trying to find Aang? That was an amazing way to tie back to the OG series

•I love how they incorporated the blue spirit, Koh, the fog of lost souls & parts of the ep where sokka and Katara got sick & Aang had to get them frogs - just reimagined it. Oh also Hei Bai! Yea, I loved that whole episode. Koh & Hei Bai were SCARY as fuck, it was awesome!!

•HAHN MY BELOVED…I ADORE YOU! Favorite character that they added/changed. Katara getting the other women involved in the battle?! Tui & La? The oasis?! 😭😭 stunning!!!! I also LOVEDDDDD Aangs avatar spirit that he turned into, literally perfect! And I loved the change that he gave himself over to the spirits wrath..fucking SICK. Also right before aang turned into the spirit/whatever that’s called, I was praying they’d do the line and thEY DIDDDD!!!

•Fire lord Ozai?? 😳😚 nothing needed to be said - perfection

•Kyoshi?! The Kyoshi warriors?! SUKI?! - speechless

•I like that they’re making more of a point to show how smart Sokka is! Mechanist calling him an engineer…I hope they play more into that! Ik they did a bit in the show with the subs (cartoon), but still

•”~hE rAn~” seriously my favorite line, I was DYINGGGG!!! The scenes with Zuko and Iroh, Zuko before the war meeting, the leaves from the vine being in the background at the funeral….ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME?! Zuko’s crew being the crew he SAVED?! And when they find out they all do the fire nation bows to their prINCE?! 😭😭😭😭

I’m being fair y’all - things I don’t love/hope they change:

•this one I’m 50/50 on - I don’t love that they tried to give Kuruk a reason for disappearing. They tried to pull shit from Korra to make him look meaningful & not useless as an avatar and it didn’t hit for me

•some of the wigs: obviously we won’t see Yue again, but I wanted her hair to be white. I didn’t love the wig but it wouldn’t have been as bad for me if it wasn’t so grey. Also do NOT love Azula, Tylee or Mai’s hair. Ik they look just like the show but whether that’s wigs or their actual hair (I’m clueless) it needs some serious improvement. Azula’s looks great down, I just don’t like how big the side pieces are that frame her face when it’s up.

•Katara, my love, I am PRAYING part of your development is also going to be her becoming more outspoken and badass, bc this season we saw the tiniest of glimpses of it, not a fan (unless it’s a part of her development…she did grow up in a tiny ass tribe so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt)

• IK they’re going with a much more serious Aang, but pleaseeeee give us some actual moments of him being a kid. We saw that like twice 😭

•Dante is the PERFECT ZUKO, I will hear NO slander. However, I need him to be more of a dick. I’m hoping we’ll get that when he gets super desolate when they’re on the run & then we have Zuko alone & he has his inner battle. I need snarky dickhead Zuko, so you can truly see the big differences between what he’s fighting (himself vs. who his dad wants him to be)

MEET MY SMG4 OC CLOVE!

(fucking finally)

(Also a bit of a redesign since I kinda changed my style a bit lmao)

Meet Clove! (Enid) a 22-year-old "mad" scientist who has made the poor decision to be Smg3's assistant but who exactly is she? What's her lore? What are her goals? Why is she an Ex-villain? and all the other amazing questions you might have (or don't idk) will all be answered here!...hopefully...

"Enid Gadd" (Backstory)

Enid comes from a long line of talented and successful scientists (like her grandpa, E. Gadd more on that in a bit) but she was always seen as a black sheep of the family in short.

Ever since Enid could even talk, she has always aspired to be a great scientist just like her family but it seemed like everything she did, it meant nothing so she became E. Gadd's student when she was young (considering she was practically raised by the guy damn)

It seemed like everything Enid did though was still not enough for her parents so she said "fuck it" and decided to become someone else's assistant in hopes that she could be a better scientist than all of them and that is when Smg3 comes in...

"Clove" (assistant days)

Now, Bowser was a terrible assistant so Smg3 decided to get a new one instead so one day while Clove was just walking around the Mushroom Kingdom city; she saw a purple Mario recolor next to a stand on the side of the street with a sign that said LOOKING FOR AN EVIL ASSISTANT (WILL NOT GIVE VACATION DAYS) (why would look for one in broad daylight you dumb bitc-)

So she took her shot, lied to 3 about being "inherently evil" but she also added that she was pretty good at making bombs (which was also a half-truth) so she became Smg3's assistant from that day on.

She didn't really know what to expect at first and she thought that Smg3's main goal of being a villain at the time was kinda dumb but it was better than home so she stayed and she stayed for a long time.

She eventually became evil and she got better at her inventions and her scientific studies all for the goal of ruling the world with Smg3 and telling her entire family (not including E. Gadd) to suck it...which now brings us to the YouTube Arc...

YouTube Arc (this is where shit goes down)

Smg3 and Clove had just started on their goals of making Snitch Productions but after Smg4 destroyed it all for no damn reason (like wtf man?) they wanted revenge and they wanted it bad (Smg3 more so than Clove)

So they came up with the anti-cast and got to work but after that failed Clove said "fuck it" and started her own projects again but she found out about the YouTube remote while she was doing her research ("The World's Cursed and definitely Powerful Objects that would destroy the world if laid on the wrong hands" (great title I know) ) So they all came up with the plan to steal it.

Things had started to take a toll after they had successfully stolen the Remote per sae because now Smg3 was drunk with power to the point where it was kinda concerning Clove a bit and this is the part where Clove found out Smg3's true intentions of using the YouTube remote; It was so much more than taking over Smg4's channel, it was deleting Smg4's and his crew's entire existence. Clove knew it was too much, even for 3 but she kept quiet about her conflicting feelings (but put a pin in this later )

A big-time skip later where Clove had actually caught Mario trying to steal Smg3's phone (to hopefully get everyone out of the graveyard, you probably watched the Arc lmao) but she betrayed Smg3 by giving it to Mario anyway and freeing the entire cast out of the internet graveyard in order to stop Smg3; Everyone was confused why but they didn't ask.

WOTFI 2020 (redemption arc begins)

The final battle was here and after Clove was revealed to be a traitor and helping the Smg4 crew, it's no wonder that Smg3 lost but he was never expecting his assistant, no...someone closest to him like a friend to betray him like that.

Since Clove was the only one who really knew how to work the remote (and she was the one who had it in her hands at the time) she was the one who sent Smg3 to the Internet Graveyard for the greater good of everybody else but now that 3 was gone...she felt like she had no meaning...no purpose anymore...

After she had gotten forgiveness from Susan, Smg4 offered Clove to stay with the rest of them at the castle but she declined and said she would just lock herself up in her lab instead.

Clove's lore goes on for ages...so I'll have to make a part 2

Ik marc has said (in preseason maybe?) that he wants to ride with dovi and they have a good relationship(but idk where is this from) also i saw a post where dovi said that he and marc have a "special" relationship but they aren't friends and he regrets it(in his book maybe) or maybe i'm hallucinating ( sorry i'm new to this)

Don’t worry, I got you!! This will be LONG but I hope it’s also gonna be helpful if you want to “dig” into their lore a bit more!!!

As for the two episodes you mentioned, first one was in the Gresini Team Presentation on January 20th in Riccione, and if you want to watch the whole thing its here!! They did ask Marc if he had any plans to go training in some of the motocross tracks in Romagna, like the 04 Park, while he was there. And Marc said that just that morning he thought something like, “Im gonna call him and ask him if he’s busy?”, but then he basically had no time so he couldn’t actually go. And then he said something like “I would still like it very much, especially to go riding around Dovizioso’s track, whom I have a beautiful relationship with!”. And then we all cried. (me, i cried)

As for the book! Yes, he did say that he would’ve liked to have relationships and connections with other riders in general, because there’s not many people in the world that have the privilege to share their same experiences. He spoke a lot about how the relationships work in the paddock, which he describes as a shark tank basically (literally says minefield). And he said it’s a shame he basically had no friends within the motogp environment, but it’s how it works, because in that world everything it’s about money and feral competition. About Marc (the book was published in 2018 if i’m not wrong, so as for their relationship in 2018 at least) he said they’ weren’t technically friends, but they thought highly of each other, respected each other, smiled to each other when one saw the other one! He spoke a lot about how the connection grew stronger in each one of their battle. How at the end of every race he felt like they just climbed a mountain and they arrived right at the peak together. “The connection has deepened. The relationship was preserved”. It’s one of my fave part of the book, maybe I’ll try to translate the whole thing!

And finally!, as for their current relationship, I’d say it’s still… very good? Dovi was in Mugello this year, and he had this beautiful interview with SkySport Italia where he praised Marc for his outstanding work. If you want to watch it, it’s here! He never stops showering that little menace with compliments. He cannot help it.

Apart from this, no new crumbs? FOR NOW!! Motogp will be in Misano for a few weeks since Kazakhstan got cancelled, so we basically have 1st race in Misano, Misano tests and THEN 2nd race in Misano again which means pleeeenty of time to go and have a bit of fun at the 04 Park i guess <3 manifesting this so hard anon

First Half of Miraculous Season 2 Done. Here's my thoughts:

The Collector: A pretty good start! They made the teens smart while still being dumb teens!

Despair Bear: Chloe needs a therapist, arguably moreso than a redemption arc and especially a downward villainous spiral. Also Dangit Grandpa

Prime Queen: Wow, this was a lot more chill than expected. Even Cat Noir was left aghast at what Nadja was doing, Nadja seemed to be pressuring Ladybug and Cat Noir more for views than anything else, and I'm not entirely sure Akuma personalities can be trusted.

Befana: Fun fact: This was the episode that got me into Miraculous in the first place because of how shocking it was. And then I discovered even more. In hindsight from watching the other episodes, it was relatively darker, but mostly because it's Marinette's friends and family that are getting G-rated killed instead of random civilians like every other episode.

Riposte: Kagami is here! I don't see too much chemistry with her and Adrien yet, but she's cool and I like her and feel like I could be friends in real life. Also this feels like a relatively uncommon trope, but I wish "X is blatantly a woman but no one notices" was spedran through by someone with brains.

Robustus: Pretty good, all things considered. From what I've heard about Miraculous lore, creating sapient or at the very least semi-sapient AI isn't that uncommon for weirdness hotspots, and I'm putting Max in the list of characters I think should have figured out Ladybug and Cat Noir's identity. (There's four now!)

Gigantitan: It turns out my favorite parts of Miraculous are the slice-of-life bits instead of the superhero bits the show is about! We got to see more of Marinette's friends! Alix! Mylene! Julie! The Eeby Deeby herself! Also it was really sweet to see Adrien's bodyguard calm down just by looking at the kid. Adrien's true daddy.

Dark Owl: No wonder these two aren't allowed to know eachothers' identities, considering how much of a loose tongue Marinette has!

Glaciator: Alright, it's finally time to talk about the sins of Marinette and Cat Noir, considering the fan content I osmosed before watching the series was heavy salt stuff, and I wanna see how much it holds up. So far Cat Noir has acted as if he's already dating Ladybug previously, and in this episode he got mad at Ladybug for not showing up at a date when she herself said she might not come due to having other plans. Isn't he supposed to be used to not-showing-up disappointment as Adrien due to his dad? Is it different because he's Cat Noir? Is this a breaking point? No matter, he eventually calms down and is ultimately the less bad member of the relationship. Marinette, meanwhile, doesn't have as many misdemeanors to her name but they're a lot worse. She stole Adrien's phone to get rid of an embarrassing message and got away with it too, what the hell, and also owns the schedule. Although I don't believe she stalked Adrien and made it herself due to how busy she is as both Marinette and Ladybug, that's just weird and wrong. I'm reluctant to call her a stalker, but her actions are still wrong. Ultimately, this relationship is going to need a lot of therapy and counseling to not crash and burn. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah. The ice cream episode. I think the ice cream guy can be wrong and he doesn't understand that.

Sapotis: Silly little fun episode, also it introduces the first new Miraculous holder! I'm honestly fine with it so far if it means more screentime for side characters. I honestly really like seeing Marinette's classmates. They're neat. Also I was this close to putting Alya on the list but she proves time and time again that she doesn't actually know Ladybug's identity.

Gorizilla: In this episode we are introduced to Adrien's deranged parasocial fanbase. I'm starting to understand some of his father's decisions at this point. This is what I was talking about with the schedule, by the way. These obsessive stalker creeps make Marinette look reasonable, and I wouldn't be surprised if the one guy who I'm pretty sure becomes Party Crasher discreetly stalked Adrien to get his schedule. Restraining orders need to be filed.

Captain Hardrock: One of the funniest episodes, up there with Dark Cupid. Also Luka is here! And he already has great chemistry with Marinette! And more Rosie and Julie content even if it's crumbs!

A rereading of Carry On, by an amnesiac: Log 2

(Or, I guess, ARROCOBAA. Chapter 3-4)

I’m Jace— though I used to go by Simon, largely due to how much this book meant to me when I needed it most. But due to amnesia, I forgot everything about it— so now I’m reading it all over again. This is the second part of my thoughts log while reading.

Healing is a long process, and my first log was 20 days ago. And that’s okay— this isn’t something I should be rushing anyway. It took a while, but I’m ready for the next chapter. These are a bit more scattered thoughts than last time.

Chapter 3: Simon

I do not mention it here, but CW Car Crash for those reading along.

The way Simon was talking about Candle in the wind made me spit my drink out— and it was worse by the implications of it setting on fire! I don’t even have one, but that’s terrifying!

I had no idea Simon gets kidnapped much less in CHAPTER 3? And why is the goblin singing Elton John? Is this implying Elton John is goblincore?

Simon makes everything about Baz somehow. I thought his obsessiveness was a fandom designated trait since that’s just how fandoms treat some ships, but MAN. DOWN BAD AND IN DENIAL!!!! But also me too, I would love to be Simon and have Baz start speaking to me in French….

Simon just casually decapitating a goblin in one sentence, no big deal. Taking a sec to shill the podcast Inn Between, I am thinking about it because that’s how the inn there was named, haha. If you like found family, DND, and queer main characters, go check it out.

Simon not knowing how to drive is actually real. I’m 24 and still don’t have a license.

I don’t know Simon, the mage has got a point for once. Regional slang is important, I’d be damned if I wasn’t allowed to talk about my jojo fries or grabbin some steamer or a little jimmy. But that is not to say, eating people and regional slang are equal issues! One may be more important than the other!

Ebb mention :) Love how it’s a little lore drop but also ebb crumb :) I sure do hope nothing bad happens to her :)

I remember now, back in high school. I would write Carry On fan fiction for creative writing club, and my instructor would get so excited by names like Crowley, Merlin, Methuselah, stuff like that. And I would just sit here like “they just say this normally in the book why are you praising me for mentioning these people😭” But he was just really excited over literature.

Is this the first time we actually meet Penny in person? I love her so much already. We love a snarky best friend that will tell you the truth straight up.

Elspeth mention! I think she was in one of my fanfic series where I shoved a lot of background characters in there to give them some attention. Congratulations for your perfect attendance, sorry for the interruption!

It’s unlisted now, but I made a book trailer for Carry On for class way back in the day. I remember it now because I threw in the scene here, where Penny was mad at Trixie for coming back. Her dynamic with her was always really funny to me, I wish we could have seen it explored more.

The Humdrum looks like the 11 year old version of Simon, does this mean that it’s supposed to represent his childhood, somehow?

The chapter ends on that little lore drop that brings about my million dollar question.

Chapter 4: Penelope

Our first chapter without Simon, featuring Penny! I love that for her, but it already looks short.

She cares about him so much and that much shows from her perspective, though his state also worrying to me… every autumn he came back like that? No wonder, the mage never even attempts to care for him. I’d like the idea of a little AU where Penny does run off with Simon and get that flat in Anchorage— or Casablanca, or Prague. Wherever it is, it feels like a cute little slice of life. I’m not sure if she means they would live to see the far end 19-20 years old, or 2019-2020. For their sake, I hope it’s not 2020, haha.

But as much as she is willing to run away, I’m glad she also recognizes his importance other world… sadly. But, and this may be an uncommon take, what obligation does he have to save this world in the first place? I’m not sure if he would pose the question himself, with his reluctant devotion to the great mage.

Ty for the ask! I think this question I can classificate in two: 1. Things that impact me on my first reading 2. Things that impact me on my thousand of rereadings

1. When I first read the book! I was impacted by Clemensia incident a lot, like I have always loved the scientific fucked side of Capitol, in THG we see many mutts, but we never see before anything like the case of Clemensia, so I WAS SCREAMING AND GASPING WITH IT.

I mean Clemensia showing her scales and screaming and then being taken away by force? IT WAS BRUTAAAl.

On a similar note, I would not say Sejanus death, like he's my favorite character from all the saga? Yes. It impact me his death? Not really, I was sad clearly, but was very una muerta anunciada from the moment Snow send that record, however, NOTHING PREPARE ME FOR THE AFTER IT.

Thats a scene I think we dont talk enough about in the fandom BUT THE MOMENT WHEN THE OFFICER - GUY WHO WAS IN CHARGE CALLING CORIOLANUS TO HIS OFFICE AND THE FUCKING ATTITUDE THAT MISERABLE WORM SHOW OFF?? I knew he fucking sucks, I read many of this anti district shit comments and cursed him, yet... I wasnt expecting HIM TO DO THAT! TO GO THAT BAD!

HIM SAYING HE WAS ENJOYING HIMELF BY PRETEND BE SEJANUS FRIEND? THAT HIJO DE LA VER** CHIN** TU REPU******** MADRE. MISERABLE GUSANO!

Another scene and that Im so so sad the movie take away was MA PLINTH POINTING TO THE TELEVISION SAYING SHE KNEW WHERE HER SON WAS, and talking of Ma Plinth, the why I would personally PUSH OFF GRANDMA SNOW FROM A BALCONY IN A 10 FLOOR, its bc AT THE END OF TBOSAS SHE SAW MA PLINTH AND THOUGHT WAS A SERVANT. My jaw drop to the floor when I read that the first time.

In my rereadings... I could never sympathy with Snow, yet I swear IN EVERY REREADING I DO HE GET WORST SOMEHOW. You must understand that I read fragments of TBOSAS an insane amount, daily Im re reading scenes, when I think of lore for certain families or characters, I go back to my pdf and I reread every thing that was said of them, I re read A LOT, so MIND YOU, WHY EVERY TIME, CORIOLANUS GET WORST AND WORST???

Two moments that got with my mouth open and paralyzed was that, english is not my first language and took me a time read tbosas in english, ok but once I got that pdf, I was rereading one day some stuff of the 10th games, and Coriolanus used a verb for Jessup that I dont understood, like I get in a way what he was saying bc of context but the exact meaning escape to me, so I research it.

DUDE. HE USE A VERB USED TO TALK ABOUT ANIMALS. FUCKING ANIMALS. Ohh and probably one recent its that theres one part WERE CORIOLANUS FUCKING TALK OF PEOPLE IN CAVES REGARDING DISTRICT PEOPLE. WHATS WRONG WITH HIM, SERIOUSLY.

Other moment that got me its all what Casca say of Mrs. Snow in canon, that exact quote Im obssesed with of "your pretty vapid mother that convince herself you father would give her love and freedom." IT IMPACT ME A LOT, enough to me do an ocs (thats how Julia Snow born).

Abt the headcanons I have many many but one that I believe I mention once but I have never go futher in it, is that I BELIEVE LIVIA CARDEW HAVE MOMMY ISSUES. I got ONE line of her and her mom to be changed forever, this my truth, Im speaking it. I can argue it, I can go to the crusades for it, joking but I do can explain it.

I hate how Mephistopheles has no lore. I'm making an OC that out ranks him and the fucker has no established rank??? Sir your whole goddamn thing is "I'm a noble, goddamn it" and like no rank? No bitches? No nobility??

So I'm picking one (Grand Dutches, technically?) and going with the punches, but how do you fix Solomare's near non-existent lore so well?? This shit is hard! Mad props!

I'm grateful that we got more Mephisto lore in Nightbringer, but like many characters, new info or interactions are few and far between except when it's needed as a plot device. lol

Even though Mephisto isn't a member of the Ars Goetia, he's a Faustian demon or what I call a "named" demon which has important relevance in my personal world building. Other than that, we know that his family has deep roots to the Devildom nobility, are highly influential, and that he was basically raised to be Diavolo's friend. We know his special power now thanks to Nightbringer, but my version of it is a bit sinister because, you know, demons.

Unless you're new around here, my solution to gaps in the game's lore or storytelling is solved by personal headcanons/world building and creating OCs. I knew I wanted to write more about Mephisto, and that meant exploring his relationships and history outside of what the game told us.

Before NB existed, I was already developing his little brother OC because using characters/info only found in the games limits the potential for complexity and drama. Plus, writing an OC for Mephisto's brother helped me develop my own interpretation of Mephisto's character too.

When the game only leaves us crumbs to work with, here's what my brainstorming looks like to try and explore possible ways to fill in the gaps:

Creating an OC for Mephisto's younger brother: Mephisto is a named demon and part of the demon nobility. My thought: his brother is probably a named demon of some importance too.

Naming Mephisto's little brother: After doing some reading, I learned Mephisto wasn't part of the Ars Goetia, but that didn't mean his brother couldn't be. Result: I just picked a name off the list that I liked. LOL

Note: I have friends that have OCs based off other Ars Goetia demons so I purposefully avoided choosing those names because I write about my version the Devildom assuming those OCs exist within it.

Developing Bathin as an OC: Okay, we have a name. Cool, that's usually the hard part. Now we have to build him up from nearly nothing! What I knew about his character before NB released: he was significantly younger than Mephisto (I imagined the same or slightly younger than Luke with a similar childlike appearance) and that Mephisto was a very attentive and doting older sibling. Based on the RAD Sports event in OG, I concluded if he was that protective of Luke, he would be even more protective of his younger brother as well. I also interpreted the events and assigned Mephisto his demonic trait (having a tail of some kind instead of wings). In my mind, demonic traits are something that might be part of the family's heritage, so I decided that Bathin would look similar to Mephisto in his human form and also his demon form.

Identifying gaps/issues with Bathin's character: The main concern I had to address for Bathin was his existence as a demon of the Ars Goetia. Solomon has pacts with all of them, and this implies that he would also have a pact with Bathin - a literal demon child. Oops!

Questions I needed to answer:

Why would Solomon want a pact with a child and how did this happen?

Are there any limitations/restrictions if a pact is made with a demon child that isn't mature/"of age"?

Should I change his name to something else to avoid this issue? Nah.

Solving Bathin's existence as a child in the Ars Goetia: I basically wrote a world building theory about demon death/exorcism and respawn cycles to explain which demons can respawn and which ones cannot. Naming conventions and the impact on existing pacts are part of this theory.

Conclusion using fill-in-the-gaps world building:

A form of the death & rebirth cycle exists for demons.

Using theory, Bathin can exist as a member of the Ars Goetia because he was killed/exorcised as a mature demon. His essence/power exists within the version of him that was reborn later.

Implications and things to continue developing:

Bathin made his pact with Solomon as a mature demon and the pact persisted through death, although as a child the pact is weak and practically unusable.

Demons who respawn usually have no memories of their previous existence, but Mephisto would remember him from before. That can explain why he might be close and very protective of his younger brother. Solomon would also have memories of past!Bathin as well and that could have some interesting effects on how Solomon interacts with Mephisto as well.

Demons that are exorcised and respawned might carry some lingering physical evidence of their death - for example, the power of an angel's grace maiming some part of their body. This helped me visualize Bathin's physical appearance and explain any potential scars or flaws he was born with.

Child!Bathin won't be a copy of his former self, so there is potential for drama/angst as those that knew him best before re-learn the "new" him.

The possibility to explore Mephisto as a child and how his friendship with Diavolo was fostered/pressured by those around him (and Bathin's feelings/attitudes about Mephisto's potential (mis)treatment).

Explaining past!Bathin's untimely demise in the first place and the characters/circumstances involved.

If you ever wondered how I take a random throwaway reference in the game and expand on it to create an OC, here's what the process looked like when I was developing Mephisto's brother. He's very precious and though I doubt we'll see much more of him in the game other than some vague references, I enjoy writing about Mephisto enough that dedicating an OC to his little brother was worthwhile.

As a transformers fan I love robots who have divorce drama stretching millions of years but also have a body count in the trillions. Thus it has taken little convincing but I think I shall investigate these undead robots.

In the event of my death I'm Telling. This is your fault. How do I start wading into this mess bc my only encounter with Warhammer was when a very drunk frat guy tried to explain the horus heresy at a party.

Well you are in for a treat then! Robots with marriage/divorce drama, severe mental health issues, and body counts best measured on a planetary scale are our specialty in Chez Necron.

If you want a setting overview before you dive in, Bricky's two part series going over all the factions is quite solid. Long, but hey this has been around since the 80s. (no drunken Horus Heresy rambles*)

First, watch this clip of Trazyn the Infinite, as an amuse bouche before your meal.

As for books, there are two main places I'd start for necrons:

The Infinite and the Divine- the classic starting point for necrons (and 40k in general). Trazyn the Infinite, lord of the Prismatic Galleries, battles against Orikan the Diviner, master chronomancer and prophet. Clash of godlike beings over...what amounts to a magic Rubik's Cube. It's so petty. This fight spans epochs, multiple wars, and one legal case. There's no heterosexual explanation for their dynamic. Also this book has dinosaurs. Some of whom carry shuriken canons.

Now, this book has a ton of 40k stuff. Most major factions make an appearance so there's a very good chance there will be words/things that a new person is unfamiliar with. If that doesn't bother you, awesome! Proceed. Ask me things, I'll explain that an aeldar is just a space elf or whatever. Or watch a lore vid beforehand. However if that is a turn off I'd recommend starting with...

Severed- Novella, so shorter which is nice. Do you like angst? The horrors of immortality? Lord/knight love story? One very silly guy? Then meet Zahndrekh and his loyal bodyguard Obyron as they set out to conquer a planet where the necrons are...wrong. Complicating factors include Obyron's crippling depression, Zahndrekh's asshole ex, and the fact Zahndrekh is insane and believes them all to still be the creatures of flesh and blood they were before a bunch of star gods ate their souls and turned them into robots. Prepare to cry.

After those, I cannot recommend the Twice Dead King duology highly enough. Oltyx, an exiled prince attempts to save his dynasty from destruction while battling his own creeping madness. He's got an adorable crush on his hot best friend. The voices in his head were put there on purpose so its fine. Well most of them were. Everything is fine. I didn't cry multiple times reading these...

Then refer to my reading guide for the good short stories and boom! The wonderful world of gay undead space robots is open before you.

*mini rant, but I honestly think the Horus Heresy is one of the worst ways to introduce someone to the 40k world. It's a series with like 70 books! Many of them are bad! You need a flowchart to keep track of the timeline! I know there's some good books and characters, power to all who love the HH, but it is not newbie friendly! Also it only has humans which robs you of some of the best parts of the setting (like...y'know. Necrons). Ease people in, then they can make an informed decision about tackling the mountain of buff space men with daddy issues shooting each other.

~My Thoughts on Wonderful Pretty Cure! - Episodes 41-45~

Episode 41 - Yuki On Stage!:

I don’t have much to say about this episode at all. It’s just more filler.

I did really like the theatre kids. They were really funny. And the story was pretty cute.

Yuki looked so beautiful in that dress. She really looked the part of the goddess she was playing. And it was pretty funny how Niko appearing was only talked about once, and never again. Typical Pretty Cure stuff.

Zakuro continues to disappoint me every time she appears. This time, she’s proven even more just how un-loyal she is to Gaon. And not only was it once again for a minor, but for a girl as well. I’m not saying that in a homophobic way. Just a “no one is safe” way.

It really sucks just how much filler is in this season…

Episode 42 - Everyone’s Wonderful Pets!:

Again, more filler. But this one was cute and entertaining, so I don’t mind.

Seeing Animal Town’s residents and their pets was so sweet. I also love how everyone reflects an animal as well. Like how Kanie’s like a crab(and owns them), and how the mayor’s like a bird. It’s just a fun detail.

I really wish we got more of a realistic interaction between human Yuki and Mayu’s father. He just accepts that she can turn human; not questioning anything. But I should really know by now that realistic parents are too much to ask for in Pretty Cure. They just go with anything, haha.

I’m getting more and more curious about if the show’s hinting at Torame being reformed. He just wants to play, and always has fun with the Pretty Cure. I hope he does switch sides. He really deserves better than Zakuro.

Episode 43 - Feelings Spun Together:

Realizing just how much Mayu has grown makes me feel so proud. She couldn’t even speak to people when we were first introduced to her. But now, she’s teaching her friends how to knit with no problems! I feel like a proud mother.

I fully expected this episode to be pure filler. But I was pleasantly surprised when we got some lore! Gaou and the human who wrote the journal were friends. Obviously, something must’ve happened to make him hate humans so much. My initial guess was that the man might’ve joined others in hunting the wolves down. But it didn’t make sense to me.

So my actual theory is that the other humans did something to the nice one to prevent him from defending the wolves. Gaou got mad that they’d do that to their own species. And since they also hunted his own, he started hating humans.

That’s my guess. We can find out if I’m right after around a month.

Lastly, we got some focus on Zakuro. It looks like she’s starting to question Gaou. I really didn’t expect that. I thought it would only be Torame who had a chance to be reformed. But the more the merrier, I guess!

Episode 44 - Lots of Happiness:

As someone with a pet who’s getting old, this episode hit me hard. The fact that I’ll eventually have to say goodbye to my sweet baby crosses my mind every day. This episode made me put myself in Otsuru’s shoes, and partly experience what that’ll be like.

I didn’t expect to see a pet death in Wonderful Pretty Cure. I knew it was a possibility, but I highly doubted it coming true due to this season’s happy and silly nature. So I praise the show for adding this. Saying goodbye to our pets is a harsh reality most don’t like to think about. But this episode makes us watch and experience the emotions that are happening on screen. It hurts, but I believe it’s a good thing.

The moment Fuku stood up to try and cheer Otsuru up made me cry harder than I already was. It really highlights how our pets see us as the most important things in their lives. All they want is to be happy with us. So even in her last moments, Fuku found a way to put a smile on Otsuru’s face.

I also loved that Torame paused the Gaogaon just to let Otsuru through. He really does care about animals, and he’s always proving it.

After watching this episode, I made sure to give my pets lots of love. And I suggest all of you to do the same, if you have one. Animals’ lifespans are so unfortunately short, so give them all the affection you can. Because time flies faster than we can imagine.

Episode 45 - Friends Forever:

I’ve known Torame wasn’t all bad for a while now. For the past few episodes, I was really hoping he’d be reformed. And he was, but not in the way I expected.

It made me so happy seeing him run and play with the others. That’s really all he wanted this whole time. So I’m glad he finally got to have proper fun.

I can’t believe I didn’t fully comprehend that Torame was already dead before. It only sunk in once he was purified. While I’m really sad to see his character go, I’m happy his spirit was finally put to rest. He was my favorite villain of this season, so I’m glad he got a happy ending.
