Okay, on a very fundamental level I *need* people to be able to articulate and understand the difference between "theyfab" and "shemale". Oh ok, allegedly hypersexuality or some sort of elevated libido is common in people with adhd. It's not conclusive though. Studies keep contradicting eachother. And I really don't think it can be that uncommon in neurotypicals because why else would that much major art and music and film agree with me that it's the best thing in all the universe? I have no idea anymore. I only know it really feels that necessary to enjoying life no matter what else you have going on. Like existence is all just that, or the anxious wait for more of it, and any length of time without it makes it harder to enjoy anything else about living, right? Is that really not the average neurotypical libido. Did sitcoms lie.

It can be an uncomfortable topic for people so it isn’t talked about as much, but it should be talked about more because a lot of people feel shame for being hypersexual or sex-repulsed because of trauma.

It is completely okay and valid if your trauma made you hypersexual, even if your trauma was not sexual trauma.

It is completely okay and valid if you are sex-repulsed as a result of your trauma, whether your trauma was sexual or not.

And it is completely okay if you are both and/or you fluctuate.

Julian Bashir walks a very fine, maddening line between “self-loathing imposter syndrome who knows almost everyone who speaks to him for more than a minute finds him insufferable” and “incredibly self assured and annoyingly arrogant to the point of a minor god complex”.

He knows he’s attractive, he thinks he’s charming as all hell, he knows he’s the smartest person in the room (while also being acutely aware he’s going to put his foot in his mouth any second now), and he just swings wildly between “I don’t deserve anything I have, none of this is mine, my life is not my own, I am a monster” and “HELL YEAH LOOK HOW COOL AND SMART I AM GUYS ARE YOU LOOKING ARE YOU LOOKING”.

And then there’s episodes that reveal that underneath that annoying arrogance, at the very core of who he is, he really, really just wants to help people, and if he fucks that up he WILL take it personally and hold himself responsible even if there’s no way he could have known and like. Can you imagine what his first patient death was like for him. Can you imagine what a fucking nightmare his brain must be 24/7.

He is somehow as inherently self assured as he is in need of constant validation for his ego because you can SEE him break a little when that ego fails him, even a little, and it’s just.

He’s very fun to write. I hate him. (I love him so much, but oh my god.)

Thinking about hypersexual Simon Riley and aromantic reader. He doesn’t have time to date with his job, or the patience to find new hookups all the time. Dating apps are the bane of his existence. If he’s honest with himself, despite his wants, he doesn’t enjoy unfamiliarity. He doesn’t like having to explain himself over and over to people who often don’t understand (or care).

Instead he finds you, a pretty little thing that moves into the flat next door. You don’t demand commitment, or that he opens up more than he likes. You’re easy, kind, soft under his hands. You offer companionship when he needs, make conversation without expecting more than he’s able to give right now.

You’re in much the same position. Despite how men often say they want to hookup without any strings beyond maybe a casual friendship (if that), as soon as you’re the one to set that boundary they start whining. Can’t handle the idea that you don’t want them in every way possible. Can’t stand losing out on that control over the women they’re with. In your experience, at least.

You dread the day he inevitably finds someone. He’ll leave you behind, of course, and it’s not that you’d hold it against him. Simon deserves love like no one you’ve ever met. That impending day has become a little more real since he’s been talking about this “Johnny” from his work, though.
