Balance, stability, and control throughout the hip region is important if we want to have strong sprinting/running mechanics. A strong stable hip region will assist with injury prevention as well, this is a simple drill using a resistance band to emphasize the hips stability while performing hip flexion. Demo by: @samlesliept Adding a lateral band to facilitate left lateral flexion in this flexion biased athlete not only improved dynamic balance after the drill but also hip flexibility. An improvement from two days ago. When performing an #elevatedglutebridge on a bench...or a coffee table...make sure your #hamstrings are perpendicular to the bench. The closer they are to the bench, the higher your hips will rise. This is crucial, as it carries over to the way some of us tend to set up for the #benchpress . I've already seen an improvement in my #flexibility while setting up for my own benching ever since I began doing this. Was first introduced to this drill by one of my kettlebell mentors Anthony DiLuglio of Art of Strength in 08. #bearcrawls are a fantastic total body workout. Video 1 is the impressive @kkleonard5 demonstrating perfect form while maintaining a small contsiner on the small of her back to ensure anti-rotation. Video 2 is one of the best postural exercises we have ALL TBP clients perform, bridge lower extremity band tears and long band tears to promote open shoulders and chest while strengthening the entire posterior chain. Video 3 is another bear crawl hold (holding the same container)while performing hip abduction clamshells to work her core, hips and shoulder stabilizers in conjunction to promote stabilization. Weight bearing and maintaining a pose that forces you to engage multiple muscle groups makes for a functional, tension-based, total body exercise!
