i have a proposed revision for the pc port

#this is so shoddily edited because i was scrapping it together for a joke while half-asleep. put those guys in the elysium #but that said... i do genuinely think this could've had #the best chance at recreating the effect they were seeking from the ds; to keep monologue on-screen + allude to future twists thru color #for which i must add #999 spoilers #anyway. ace has the outline/examination cursor color junpei is using bc he had originally created the 'game'#the grey monologue would probably be a bit muted but still lean toward a purple/blue for akane #which would realistically be more apt for longer descriptions; with junpei's personal thoughts maybe having a slight indent #or even being associated w his name as is; like the options implicitly are in color (darker red)#it's not a traditional visual novel format of course; but it'd still work well...! to me...!!!#alas. i haven't practiced modding of this scale. maybe one day...#jestersvaguely #ze posting

#dwedit #doctor who #mrs flood #fifteenth doctor #the master #jacobi!master #tenth doctor #jack harkness #martha jones #twelfth doctor #ninth doctor #*#okay here is my argument: mrs flood IS a time lord but her presence here has nothing to do with the doctor #instead she's here because of ruby. she's seemingly part of/related to the pantheon of discord & we know that ruby is connected to them too #so i think that she was deliberately placed as ruby's neighbor by the pantheon/oldest one/ruby's mom/? in order to watch over her #it also explains why she was there to check on ruby in 1.04. once she realizes she's on the phone w carla she says 'nothing to do with me'#and she leaves. which implies that it COULD have had something to do with her. if it had been something else going on #ANYWAY. to get to the time lordness of it all. rn i personally believe that she's a time lord that's been hiding on earth for 50+ years #bc i don't think she recognized the police box as a tardis initially. that first quote should be taken at face value.#instead picture this: she's watching over ruby as per usual. a police box is there - weird but nbd. then it dematerializes in front of her.#she drops her groceries. she's shocked. she kinda looks scared. if she already knew it was a tardis why would she react like that?#so imo she knows OF tardises. she DIDN'T know the police box was one. and she's worried the time lords have found her hence the fear.#but when nothing happens and nobody comes at her she realizes she's still safe #later when she sees the doctor she realizes the tardis is his/he must be a time lord. he doesn't identify her but that's happened before #so then when she asks him who he is i think what she's actually asking for is his title. WHICH time lord are you.#bc lbr if she knows abt tardises then she knows about time lords and if she knows abt time lords she knows what it means for ruby #to be joining him - and that's why she wishes ruby good luck. meanwhile this is clearly the outcome she WANTS (them to be together)#bc she gets visibly upset when the doctor seems to decide to leave without ruby.#and for once i'm not master clowning bc the list of names the doctor gives out is VERY interesting. some of them we've never heard before:#the bishop; the conquistador; later he adds the pedant and sagi-shi and reiterates the bishop AGAIN. so i wonder if she's the bishop.....

little chuuya is absolutely devastating and i can’t help but make it worse by noticing that throughout this entire exchange he remains faceless. he has no real identity of his own he’s being defined by the people around him

and this is paralleled in the scene where he talks to dazai directly after the flashback. we still never see his face

until he sees dazais face. and stands up

absolutely bonkers of them

Okay first of all Max looks at the audience and camera in pretty much every scene he's in at least once I had to make a collage to get these examples in here and I still whittle them down

You know who else explicity looked at and sang at the audience in a metatextual way??

Hannah

Hannah, on some level, knows the narrative. She knows the world's nature and the nature of a musical being a 'time loop' of sorts, which is why she sings of tomorrow never coming. A dawn never breaking.

Webby's the Queen of the White, right? And what is dawn, really, if not bringing in the light of day to the darkness of night?

Both characters seem to share an intrinsic understanding of their world, whether comprehensible or not, and on some level are aware of its function. There's a chaos to their worlds and they always end in an apocalypse, but it's all practiced. It's all a loop. (roz and guil moment tbh)

But what I'm proposing, is that Max is a Hannah gone wrong. He can see the audience, understand the narrative and his place in it ("Don't need no-one to tell me, high school will be my peak, so I'm willing to take advantage" ) (" you can leave, but you won't, stay in your seat") but doesn't have the full scope of awareness that Hannah does. Hannah can see Webby and understand the story straight from the source, while Max pieces it together from the audience. Maybe Webby tried to explain things through them and Max just horribly misinterpreted it. Maybe he knows exactly what he's doing and has given up trying to find another solution. Maybe he never had a chance to escape the web in the first place.

Maybe webby gives him directions, tried to explain things to him, tried to get him to see the order beyond the world like Hannah, but it just never landed as well. What could really have spawned a god complex more than getting a glimpse at the True Nature of The World and knowing you're the one to make it happen. But Webby is the queen of the White, so it only seems to reason she brings Light to Darkness.

So not only am I going to say that Max is a Webby prophet, but also I ask you, where do you think his god complex came from?

(also he like deadass controlled the lights like straight up just made it darker the bitch controlled the lights why does no-one else care about that but me-)

TL;DR: Max is a Webby prophet currently stuck on the recieving end of the world's worst game of Divine Interpretation telephone and is taking it Really Well 👍

idk it sounds reasonable to me for a teenager to run away bc they didn't want to eat their veggies!

one hopes that by the later stages of childhood a parent will have figured out which veggies and preparation styles work for the kid, and the kid will have resigned themself to what they do and don't have to eat according to their parents, and it's all settled into an equilibrium instead of a daily fight. and hopefully as a teen your palette is expanding and you're even willing to eat more veggies then you did as a child.

however, if the kid is extra picky and stubborn, and the parent is extra determined to make sure they eat a good variety (or just eat whatever the parent prepared no matter what it is), it could absolutely continue to be a regularly-repeated fight. and if something is a continued point of contention throughout childhood then it absolutely makes sense for a teen to go FUCK this, i am nearly an ADULT i am done being told to eat my veggies i am gonna prove my independence and make them realize i don't have to just sit there and let them boss me around!!

like, the childishness of the fight is exactly why a teen would run away about it.

#i'm so picky and only got pickier throughout my teen years #i usually just made myself a separate quick meal when i didn't like dinner #if my parents hadn't let me and had tried to insist i eat the same thing as everyone else?#well. idk what i woulda done bc that would require they have an entirely different parenting style overall.#so who knows what kind of person i would be lol #but leaving the house for a couple hours seems pretty reasonable to me #but it's also normal for a parent to have an 'everyone sits at the table and eats what i've prepared' rule #for a variety of reasons ranging from well-meaning to self-centered #and i'm sure there are parents who will even try to foist the same old veggie rules upon adult children visiting for the holiday #i think 'what's the latest age at which a veggie fight might occur' says more about the parents than the kid #since they're the one turning it into a fight instead of letting it go #so ig if you want them to be closer to model parents then sif would have to be pretty young #but i think 'the type of parent to never stop arguing about veggies' is an interesting flaw to add #to make a parent who is loving and wonderful overall but has their own blind spots and mixed up priorities #isat spoilers #isat #siffrin #I UNDERSTAND WHY people think sif must be young and i'm fine w that #this is just my perspective :)#thoughts about siffrin #thoughts

elle and emmett from the legally blonde musical are one of those m/f couples that i think work best as a woman and a man purely because their relationship and how elle wouldn't stay at harvard for him because she has grown to want true respect & success more than a man she loves' approval/desire is like so important to the themes of the story and it's the whole point and it's part of what makes them so good. on the other hand emmett could be such a hot butch lesbian it's crazy i want to eat drywall when i think about emmett forrest but a butch lesbian BUT it simply would not improve and in fact would detract from the themes of the story. they have to be m/f

#chirps #tangentially. i think that a trans man casting for emmett would be really great for a lot of reasons #the scene of elle buying him really nice men's formalwear and finding clothes that he likes and feels good in...#'take it like a man' in general would have such another layer of meaning and love to it #anyway. there would be a really interesting dimension to their relationship in terms of elle embracing hyperfemininity & emmett being trans #and how their respective relationships with & presentations of gender impede them in the upper-class Professional world of harvard #man that'd be really cool... that would add soooo much to the show...#Emmett Forrest. m flipfloppin between giant and totem (def reskinned) for her rn! giant would be Really funny for junior year and there's some thematic stuff for the transformation element I think would be interesting, but just purely on a character basis I think fig would love totem esp. as a barbie girl in freshman year. if I land on totem I kinda imagine it like a wuxia animal style thing tbh, mostly just because the idea of someone coming into a fight expecting typical movie shaolin choreography and getting Teenager That Mauls You To Death is entertaining to me
