I think it would be hilarious to write a Rangshi oneshot/short piece inspired roughly by the plot of 23.5, if you know. It is a Thai GL in which one of the girls is crushing on the other but is too awkward to tell her, not knowing if she likes girls as well or not. They keep texting eachother on Instagram, and the other girl falls for the internet persona, then completely crashes out when she finds out her irl friend and the Instagram interest is actually the same person. And a girl.

This somehow fits them so incredibly well and would be so interesting, lol.

(Kyoshi novels comic update)

Unfortunetly i will have to push the post date a little I KNOW IM SORRY ITS NOT MY FAULT

Only to early August i swear

I was so really happy that i would be able to stick to my word and post the second comic this month and then just....

The universe (myself) (and my drawing machine actually, but its still partially my falt) ploted agains me (i didnt plan this right)

firstly i had to rescue most of the comic that my ancient drawing machine was holding hostage and it took a while (three whole days) just to get it back

But honestly the most delaying part has been balancing life in general, but its not so bad, im already re-esqueduing everything so i can juggle it all better, im just frustated i may not be able to post this month like i wanted to

Also once i finally got back to drawing two things happend:

-> I open a tap to work on a couple of pages i thoutgh i was ok but somewhat behind on

Just to discover i had frogot to do them compleately (like i open it expecting to do some cleaning and painting and got faced with only dry frogotten concepts in my tabs)

(Call me stupid i deserved (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻)

(In compensation there is some pages 100% done, and i fix part of this mistake already, but still what a roadblock)

-> The second thing is... im not happy

Not happy with my design choices, not with the colors... nor my drawing skills....

Now i cant fix everything that i want because that would just end up in a forever loop, and i would never finish this

But i really didnt wanted to change desings so drastically in between comics

So i will see what small changes i can make while altering the least of what i already made

Objectively, best case scenario (miracle) if i can hurry up and still post this month

If not then just in the first half of August, if everything goes as plan i can get done sometime by the first week

The next one will be faster i (foolishilly) believe

CANON AND I HAVE PROOF

(literally i have proof, hang on) (sorry this got a little longer then i expected)

Kyoshi - supposedly shoudn't be much at the kitchen as Rangi say "she wanst a maid from there" but still she seem to be there frequently enough that she's close to Auntie Mui (the kichen head staff) and the rest of the staff is familiar with her -> meaning she works there as her own will and therefore learn more and more varied things (also she's Auntie Mui's favorite [is canon trust me] so she probably taugh Kyoshi some things too)

Rangi - she's a military soldier but she's also a noble -> so outside of training/work (that probably only demends the basics) she wouldn't ever have to step foot in a kitchen her entire life

Yun - even if we know little about his past we know that it was similar to Kyoshi's, so he probably didnt have a chance or someone to teach him how to proper cook, its said he made good money in his Pai sho games, so he probably used to buy already cooked meals, and then in the mansion he wouldn't had to cook like ever, maximun i think he would had the same corse of Rangi's, but never actually use it so he dosent have any practice

All that to say you're 100% right and there nothing but the pure truth in your words

Kyoshi can cook almost anything and it will turn out great die to occasionally working in the kitchen (I headcanon that Kyoshi just genuinely learns things very easily, like how she learned glass bending from pretty much just scrolls)

Rangi can cook. But as a survival skill. If you are ever stuck in a forest without food she is your woman to ask. However she isn't good at more complicated things and constantly messes up the level of spices added, making it either extremely bland or mouthburningly hot.

Yun has never done anything in a kitchen in his life and has thus been forbidden by Kyoshi to enter the one in the mansion for everyone's safety.

Kyoshi is someone who would kill a guy and then immediate after apologise in sobs for steping on her fox's tail

Re-reading the Kelsang and Kyoshi early interactions and thinking

The chapter Kyoshi say she misses "going on rides" with Kelsang, (since they didnt go in a while because of their jobs regarding Yun)

Its the same chapter Kyoshi says Kelsang its contantly leaving because of his travels with Yun, and they dont have much time to hang out anymore

And i cant help but imagine if after she's reveled as the avatar and all went to shit, a little part of her resents Yun just a bit, for being able to be the one traveling, learning, spend time and just being the avatar with Kelsang by his side, instead of her.

(i dont think she would blame him or anything like that, i dont think she would even ever adress or acknowledge this feeling at all, she dosen't want it and dont agree with it)

but grief is not rational and i think a part of her (the remains of the girl that just wanted to go on a ride with her dad again) would be hurt that she can't have that part of avatarhood (with Kelsang) that Yun once had

Kyoshi is the type of person to act like she got shot when she has a paper cut so that rangi will kiss it better and then when she actually gets shot she tries to brush it off because "it's not a big deal" so that she won't worry rangi (it is not working)

Sorry to informe you people but anyone who truly believe Rangi "couldnt handle" some parts of Kyoshi's avatarhood and "needed to be keep away from the ugly stuff" have fallen into Kyoshi's (feat: Hei-Ran) biast and non-reliable narration of things

(this sounds way ruder than i intended, sorry if came out that way, i still mean it, but i mean it in a light hearted observation way, im not actually like, upset or anything)

(Kyoshi comic update)

Past me, aparentely lacking thinking skills: im not really on the mood to do this page's line art, i'll just move on and let future me to deal with it

Current me, having frogot about it, still not in the mood to finish this line art: *having to deal with it* щ(ಥДಥщ)

That's to say i was on the painting stage (the penultimate one, since i do the base paint and arrange the texts at the same time)

But i keep stumpling upon this half ass finish pages i wasn't in the mood to finish in the past and had compleated frogot about it until now

(And Hei-Ran's design its deeply bothering me, but thats last the design (easily fixible) thing and more of my dissatisfaction with my on art (harder to fix it)

Ether way... i promissed i would post this in july (and I WILL) i just... failing to see how this will be possible

My dream would be to be done until next week but HA!! not even my delusion can believe that

Current stage:

Line art: 80% done (counting backgrounds)

Base painting: half done

Dialoge/ballons: 90%

Overall: a mess, but a mess more close to be finished then it may look, there are only a feel things that are actually hard and time consulming work from now on

The fact that Rangi is able to pop up wherever Kyoshi is during the maid era (as stated in the books) implies that she is deeply familiar with where exactly Kyoshi is at all times.

In other words, she not only tracked but also learned Kyoshis schedule by heart only to execute her terrible flirting of omniously showing up wherever Kyoshis is.

I bet she used to stalk her from roofs and stuff to figure out which routes she used.

Rangi's introduction is so funny to me

how after the jar scene, while Rangi is scolding Kyoshi, and narrator Kyoshi feels the need to explain to us that they are in fact friends and that Rangi dosen't really hate her

As if the previous scene wasn't the gayest introduction of a character i've ever seen

The duality of drawing backgrounds:

"Wow i made this whole ambiance painel so fast, and it turned out so much better than the sketch, maybe backgrounds aren't so hard after all"

immediate cut to:

"WHY THIS GRASS STILL LOOKS WRONG!??! ITS BEEN 25 MINUTES AND I CAN'T DO A SINGLE LEAF THAT DOSEN'T RUINS THE ENTIRE THING"

Damn you F.C. Yee for putting so much thought in the novel's world bulding

Like did you know Jianzhu has IN UNIVERSE signature shadeS of green

(am at like, 20 minutes trying to decide if i make it a "forest type green" so Kyoshi is "surrounded" by Jianzhu all the time, everywhere in the Earth Kingdom,

or if i make a really unatural and brigth shade, to both represent his wealth (harder=more expensive to dye fabric, also the type of fabric for it is normaly also more expensive) and to bring him and father gloworm close in colors, and later on relate yun/father gloworm with him)

[Writing this made me go for the second one but tanks for hearing it anyways]

This type of thing is one of the reasons i loved this book so much but GRHHHH why do the word building had to be so RICH and EVIDENT

I wanna delve deeper into it and work with it in every background detail, using everything as simbolism material and etc and having structured scenarios that play well once we get back to it in the future

but i also wanna be able to make more than two comics per YEAR

Also designs might be the thing to kill me in this project

Colors will be up to debate for the next comic too, idk how im feeling with my choices in this one but im way too far ahead to change it

One of my favorite details of the Avatar its how they hold traits from their past lives

Like i LOVE that little fun fact so much, and i headcannon the closest the past live is the stronger that trait present itself

Also that its weirdly stronger when their are children but it often get brush off as just a kid's shenanigans

Like Kuruk would pay absolutly 0 attention in class but could recite every capital/city/king of the word in chronological order and have no idea where he learn it, it would piss off all his teachers soooo bad

(I have a vague deja vu that i saw this headcanon before but i truly cant remember, if i accidentally steal this from someone else im sorry i didnt know)

He also have a really good resistance to strong tastes and spices, especially in tea, like nobody would let him do their tea because of the amount of different things he would put in it

Kyoshi its surprisingly good at coming up with improv poetry but thats cannon

So i think she may had been good at "hunting" as a child (but since she never actually learned/practice she lost most of it with time)

like she would go to Kelsang (and early on Jesa/Hark) saying "look at this bug/puppy i got" and while Kelsang was watching her try to capture the poor thing he would get flashbacks of hunting tecniques Kuruks used to brag endlessly about

And im not so sure about Yangchen bc we dont know almost anything about Szeto, but since she had such a strong connection with so many randon past lifes i like to think she maybe had like a hobby per week that she was insanely and instanly good at it

(This used to anger Jetsun a LOT, especially when was something she taught her) but Yangchen never go trhogh with any of them because it wasn't what she trully like it, until she finded airball (also presented by Jetsun) and was something she, althogh very good, didnt immediate over skilled at

it was her thing, memories and habilites she could create with her sister
