practicing painting on this sunday afternoon

this morning when i woke up, there was this feeling in between waking up and almost asleep. Just a warm softness where I felt my most tender.

I usually lay with it for a few minutes because I know when I actually get out of bed, it’ll be replaced by conscious responsibility; resulting in the colors fading. So I wanted to paint what that in between feeling felt like or at least what I remember it felt like. Those lazy, mindless caresses from the finger tips of someone that loves you and every part of you ardently is the best visual representation of that “in between” sensation. I do associate that feeling with Rangi and Kyoshi the most right now so that’s why they’re the subjects of my art study.
