(404) As an MTO, Brainstorm didn't exactly come online fully equipped with all the bells and whistles a baby jet might dream of. He IS fully equipped with staggering hubris and an inflated notion of his own infallible engineering skills, though, so he's made a lifestyle of casually modifying his own frame whenever something new becomes more convenient.

Brainstorm usually avoids letting anyone know when he's working on or trialling a new mod. They get unnecessarily weird about it — even his old friend Chromedome, who has known him long enough to be perfectly aware that Brainstorm is basically always alright! It's very tiresome. (On the other hand, you haven't choked on irony until Chromedome has blithely told you off for irresponsible self-modification.)

Today's fic idea is about an occasion on which a "totally safe" modification goes horribly wrong.
