Plurality and Suffering
This was going to be a reblog to someone else's post, but this deserves its own. My wording might be slightly weird because I'm having some disorganised thinking, ask to clarify if you need.
People online have such an issue with plurals presenting themselves as happy, or enjoying the fact that they're a system in the slightest. If you're not all doom and gloom, people just... Assume you're faking it for fun? As if plurals have to share their suffering online? As if they have to suffer?
"You're clearly treating plurality like its all fun and games! Look at all these silly, lighthearted posts! Not a hint of distress or trauma! How can you be diagnosed with DID when you're clearly not disordered?"
Do you ever stop to think for more than 5 seconds about personal safety? There's people who hate systems left and right, cringe subreddit posters, and generally people who would take that information and use it against you in some way. You don't share your personal name and address online, so why should we share the ins and outs of our daily struggles? Our trauma in any amount of detail? Anything that could be used to hurt or manipulate us further?
Not only is no one else entitled to that information, but it's not safe to share in a place where strangers can see it. We don't share a list of our triggers for the same reasons--we don't want to hand out the keys to our trauma to anyone who happens to see us online.
Not every plural has to suffer either, mind you. So many types of systems tend to not struggle due to their plurality or even anything remotely related to it, and that's okay! You don't need to suffer to be real, suffering isn't a prerequisite to being plural. I'm not even just talking about nondisordered systems here either.
Systems with CDDs can heal. DID, OSDD, DDNOS, anything. They can get to a point where life is worth living if it didn't feel like it already. It could be through final fusion, but it could also be through learning to live together happily as a collective. They can get to a point where the major suffering of the past is far behind. Having a dissociative disorder is NOT a death sentence, I promise you. Things can get better, either through therapy, or medication or just time and learning itself--all while still remaining happily plural.
Acting like disabled people (or even a subgroup of them) will never ever be able to live a life with any happiness or one even worth living at all is an ableist argument used to support so many horrible things thrown toward disabled people of all kinds. It's a few steps away from saying we need to be put out of our misery because we can never live a meaningful, happy life. We've seen this exact argument used against all kinds of mentally or physically disabled people, saying it's cruel to keep them living. And that's absolutely ridiculous.
It's so sad that these sentiments are common in CDD spaces. Yes, there are struggles that come with the disorder, but you can heal. The idea that you will never be okay is a lie. You might not be at a neurotypical level of functioning, but you can be happy, and you can be happy being plural. You are worth it, your disorder doesn't change that, and neither does the general community vibe of "everyone has to suffer and hate their system". You can be happy, you can love your system, you can grow together and make life what you want it to be.
Being a system of any kind is never, EVER a sign that your life will never be good. It's never a sign that you can never feel happy again. It's never a sign that you should just give up. And being required to show off how much you struggle in order to have the basic amount of respect--people just simply believing that you experience what you say you do--is absolutely ridiculous. You don't need to suffer at all, and if you are suffering, you don't need to do it forever--much less share that with people who could use it against you.
Do better, for yourselves and for others in your community. It's okay to be in pain, it's okay to wish things were different, it's okay to share experiences and gather support, but it's not okay to act like no one who is plural could ever have happiness in their life, or claim that those who don't suffer as much as you are fake. Stop spreading the sentiment that suffering is the only way.

I think the worst part of having uncommon kin types is just how hard it is to reach out to others. The objectkin community already gets enough hate as it is, and there aren't even that many of us around. I love talking to the other alterhumans, I love hearing about dragon kintypes, and wolves and fairies and merfolk. But, I wish to meet people with similar experiences to me. I wanna be able to have conversations with toykins, I wanna be friends with other objectkin.

Being an intra-disorder holder is an absolute pain because on one hand, I have Symptoms. On the other hand, these Symptoms won't usually be understood by medical professionals as exclusive to me, and if they are, then they'd assume I'm an issue or a "problem alter" because of the way I see things or would be put off by my lack of empathy. I can't be seen as struggling by those who could potentially help me because it would cause more issues to me and my system than it would fix.
I don't want the body diagnosed either because we don't all have the disorder (and getting a DX would be detrimental to our rights even if we did). It's just not how it works or what I want--my SYSTEM doesn't have these symptoms, I do.
And in a lot of system spaces, the precedent is set that you can hold symptoms, but only of disorders the body has. A lot of this, in my opinion, comes from spaces trying to defend themselves from anti-systems saying symptom-holders make no biological sense and are "cringe" or whatever, with people reacting like "oh no we have the disorder, this person just feels it more!"--which is also a valid experience, but I don't see much of a difference in how it would make sense or not compared to disorders the body doesn't have.
There's so much shit about it. It sometimes feels like it should just be kept quiet. But I don't want it to go ignored either. It's hard to find space where I can talk as someone with Symptoms without fear of being accused of whatever is cool to harrass people for that day.
But I'm not going to be quiet, because if others deserve support groups and/or people who understand them, then I sure as hell do too. It's a strange middleground that I'm stuck in, but I'm going to try and be a little more open about it because if there's one thing I'm good at, it's spite.

Hello Hello !!! I figured that maybe I should do a little introduction post since there's actually a chance I may post stuff on here lol
My name is Olliver and I'm a 16yo trans man who is bisexual with a preference for masc leaning folks.
My interests tend to bounce around a lot however here are a few specific ones: Shameless, Class of ‘09, Moral Orel, Bojack horseman, Creepypasta, Sally face, red dead redemption 2, Homestuck, Salad fingers, stardew valley, and any and all things that include CLOWNS !!!! I've also been in and out of the furry fandom for at least a few yrs by now and I'm super super into music !!! (Some of my top music artists include: Harley Poe, get scared, say anything, brokencyde, insane clown posse, Ozzy Osbourne, Dadaroma, JILUKA, pierce the veil, my chemical romance, weird al yankovic, colter wall, and Dolly Parton :DDD)
I have undiagnosed autism and more than likely have ADHD as well but haven't rlly looked into it enough to be completely sure (I also have depression and an anxiety disorder but we don't talk about that lmao)
Fun facts about me: I have six siblings (four of which I didn't know existed until early 2024), I can wiggle my ears, I used to be in chorus for like half a year in fourth grade but I've never been that good at it, my favorite color varies a lot however my two main ones r pink and green, and lastly my special interest for the past 10yrs has been horses !!!
I consider myself to be an anarcho-communist and I FIRMLY believe in acab along with blm, trans lives matter, free Palestine, etc etc
DNI: republicans, homophobes, transphobes, racists, anyone anti acab, anti blm, anti Palestine, anti therian, anti furry, anti agere, anti petre, dsmp fans, hazbin hotel fans, helluva boss fans, anyone who actively supports/gives money to problematic creators (I'm completely fine with watching/listening to stuff indirectly but if ur actively supporting the creator themself then plz leave!!), and anyone that used religion as an excuse to spread hate!!!! I'm sure there r probably more things that I would put on this list however I can't think of anymore rn so this may change on the future :PPP
I've never made a post anything like this before and I've never rlly posted anything at all until recently so I hope everything is organized enough and isn't complete shit 😭😭😭

I love that I have a partner ( @schrodingers-catt ) who I can talk to about my nonhuman identity. I don’t have to hide it or act like I’m fine when I’m dealing with dysphoria. Because even tho he’s not nonhuman himself, he still supports me and he’ll never understand how much that means to me
I can talk to him about my new identities or when I’m questioning them or tell him about my new neopronouns and he’ll take them in with open arms and use my new pronouns and if I asked, I know he’d help me figure out if I like them by using them in messages while talking about me

Not a request, an additional tip for the clownkin anon: I've found free educational books on how to become a clown (the profession, not the species) pretty easily on archive.org. (My personal favorites are "The Art Of Clowning" by Eli Simon and "Creative Clowning" by Bruce Fife.) Doing some of the exercises in those books could help you feel closer to your clown kintype! The only downside is many of the exercises are designed to be done with multiple people or a small audience - maybe tell your friends/family you've developed an interest in comedy and found a new hobby?
these are awesome! thanks for the suggestions, hope these can help some clownkin out there :)
