In a way, I think it could mean losing someone you've had in your life for a while. It could be a childhood friend or long-term partner. It's not just limited to people however. It could also be an old creative pursuit!

It means change will be met where it's due in this area of life. Might have been a long time coming, and even if it is sudden I think you'll have this relief when it's over. If it's a shift in long-term interest, it may be a bit of a bummer for you especially if you've set it in your sights for so long.

Still, this change will happen for the best. You are meant for something different, someone better!

The journey to the top is lonely.

As I step into spaces that encourage personal and professional growth, I can’t help but look around and notice that I’m alone. While I’m grateful for the paths I’ve chosen and the milestones I’ve achieved, I’m painfully aware that my community of women—the very circle that should be my source of support and inspiration—feels empty.

Today, I’m working on homework for my business class, and the more I learn, the more isolated I feel. I’ve absorbed concepts about entrepreneurship, growth strategy, and personal development, yet there’s no one to talk to about it. In the spirit of “girl bossing,” it’s just me. I’ve evolved in ways that don’t seem to resonate with the people around me, especially when it comes to ambition and growth. I’ve let go of the desire to surround myself with people who aren’t on the same path or don’t understand the hard work and sacrifices I’ve made. The nights spent aimlessly socializing don’t appeal to me anymore because I know the value of my time and energy.

When I sit and listen objectively, it becomes clear: some women will never get it. “The girls have lost the recipes.” It’s not that they lack ambition, but no one teaches you about this phase of womanhood, where you outgrow old habits and familiar conversations. No one prepares you for the loneliness that can come with pursuing success and personal expansion. It’s not just about networking; it’s about finding the right network—one that supports your vision and challenges you to become more.

Today, I’m frustrated. I feel like I’m doing all this work—learning, growing, building—and there’s no one around to bounce my ideas off of, to exchange strategies with, or to talk about long-term goals. It feels like I’m building my empire alone, without a peer group that truly inspires me or understands where I’m headed.

I yearn for that community of women who are just as driven, just as focused on their goals and ambitions, who understand that "growth" isn't just a buzzword but a lifestyle. I want to be surrounded by women who see beyond the superficial and are committed to building something meaningful—whether it’s a business, a career, or personal fulfillment.

No one talks about this transition—when you realize that the people you once leaned on may not be the ones to accompany you on this next part of the journey. And that’s okay. It just feels lonelier than I anticipated.
