Jesus still loves you when you don't understand what He's doing, when you're tired of waiting, if you struggle with your mental health, if you haven't spent time with Him today, if you struggle to love yourself even if you have nothing left to give. He still loves you.

Holy Week Monday: The Cleansing Fire - When Jesus Rocked the Foundations
Tumblr media
Today, Holy Week Monday, the narrative takes a sharp turn from the triumphant entry of Palm Sunday. We move from joyous shouts of "Hosanna!" to a scene of righteous anger and decisive action: Jesus cleansing the Temple in Jerusalem.
This wasn't a gentle request or a polite suggestion for improvement. This was a forceful intervention, a prophetic act that shook the very foundations of the religious establishment and continues to resonate with us today.
Imagine the scene: the bustling Court of the Gentiles, meant to be a place of prayer for all nations, transformed into a marketplace. The air thick with the bleating of sheep, the lowing of cattle, the haggling of merchants, and the clinking of coins. The very essence of worship, a connection with the divine, was being suffocated by commercialism and greed.
Then, Jesus enters. Not as a meek supplicant, but with a fire in his eyes and a purpose in his stride. He doesn't engage in debate or negotiation. Instead, he takes decisive action:
He drives out the livestock: Symbolically removing the sacrificial animals that had become a source of profit rather than genuine devotion.
He overturns the tables of the money changers: Challenging the exploitative system that profited from the exchange of foreign currency needed for Temple offerings.
He scatters the coins: Disrupting the flow of commerce and declaring that this sacred space would no longer be a den of robbers.
His words ring out, echoing the prophecies of old: "My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations, but you have made it ‘a den of robbers’." (Mark 11:17)
This act was more than just a purification of a physical space. It was a powerful statement about the true nature of worship and the priorities of God's kingdom. Jesus was challenging:
Hypocrisy: The outward show of piety that masked inner corruption and self-interest.
Materialism: The obsession with wealth and profit that overshadowed spiritual values.
Exclusion: The transformation of a place meant for all into a space dominated by a select few and their commercial activities.
The cleansing of the Temple was a direct confrontation with the religious authorities, a bold declaration that the way they were conducting things was unacceptable to God. It was a catalyst that further fueled the animosity towards Jesus, ultimately leading him down the path to the cross.
As we reflect on this event on Holy Week Monday, we are called to examine our own "temples" – our hearts, our homes, our communities. Are there areas where the sacred is being compromised by the secular, where genuine connection with God is being overshadowed by worldly concerns?
Jesus' actions weren't about destruction for its own sake, but about clearing the way for true worship, for a genuine relationship with God. It was a cleansing fire, meant to purify and restore.
Let us use this Holy Week to reflect on what needs to be cleansed within ourselves and our lives, making space for the true presence of God. Just as Jesus boldly challenged the status quo, may we also have the courage to confront the things that hinder our relationship with the divine and prevent our "temples" from being true houses of prayer.

“How long has this been happening to him?” Jesus asked his father.
“From childhood,” he said. “And many times it has thrown him into fire or water to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
“Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭9‬:‭21‬-23

You told God that you needed a sign, and He made sure this came across your screen.
God has removed you from a table where you used to sit in order to save you from a host who was serving you poison. Let that sink in.
Continue to pray. Continue to trust. Continue to wait. Continue to heal.
Our Lord isolates you before he elevates you. It may seem like everything around you is falling apart, but He has more in store for you than you could ever imagine.
You’re asking for a rose when our Heavenly Father wants the whole garden to be yours.
As Matthew 19:26 says - “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Therefore stop holding back, stop holding on so tightly onto the familiar pain buried inside your heart. Let the Lord clean your heart and your mind out in the image of his son in Christ, according to his will.
It may not make a lot of sense right now but if you just finally let go of what you have in mind, God can give you something better.
Many of us cling onto things beyond our control, internalizing them and causing ourselves stress, anxiety, depression…
Free yourself from these burdens by pouring out your heart to the Lord. Take a moment to be honest with yourself, acknowledge what troubles you, and then trust God enough to let Him take over. As you wait for God's help, remember He might be waiting for you to reach out to Him.
May God bless you all, in Jesus’s name ; Amen
🤍

How to know if it‘s from God
• It aligns with God's word
• It may not be easy but you’ll have peace
• it requires faith and dependence on God
• it brings you closer to God
• It glorifies him
• it drives you to pursue God’s wisdom
• it moves you to love and serve others more
• it demands a new level of trust
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
