Hello, I’m Ibrahim from Gaza. I live with my wife and four children.
Our life before 10/07/2023 was full of optimism and peace, but because of the brutal war and the mass extermination carried out by the occupation army on Gaza on that date, we lost our home and were forced to flee, moving more than 8 times in search of a safe place, but to no avail.
The war destroyed my livelihood and my family’s livelihood, and we faced hunger, illness, and the harsh conditions of heat and cold for an entire year. We lived in a small tent that we moved in several times to different places, fleeing from the bombing and destruction, all in search of safety.
In the midst of this tragedy, my dear mother was severely injured as a result of bombing by the occupation’s planes. She was transferred to Egypt for treatment. She underwent five surgeries, and now she is staying in a hospital in Egypt. However, we are unable to bear the costs of her treatment and the required medical supplies, while we have no income or source of livelihood. Additionally, the blockade on Gaza prevents us from visiting her due to the enormous amounts required to coordinate our entry through the Rafah crossing.
Amid this suffering, we were blessed with a newborn.
His arrival brought us great joy, but it also increased our burdens. Our baby needs special care, and his needs, such as formula milk and diapers, have become extremely expensive. I cannot describe the feeling of helplessness when he cries from hunger, and I cannot meet his needs. The high prices and the absence of income have made securing even the most basic necessities for him nearly impossible.
To my second family،
Our situation, as well as the situation of my family and the people of Gaza, has become incredibly tragic. Can you imagine that my wife, our four children, and I, along with our entire family, have been displaced more than 8 times and have lived in tents for over 13 months? We are now suffering from hunger in the truest sense of the word. The occupation uses hunger as a weapon and has blocked the entry of aid and food trucks for over two months, leading the country to famine. Prices have skyrocketed, and every day that passes, we live in real hunger.
Please, don’t grow tired of us and don’t stop talking about this injustice.
I need your help and support now more than ever.
The funds raised will be used to cover essential needs:
1. Traveling through the Rafah crossing to Egypt: The cost of crossing the border for individuals over 16 years old is $5,000, and for those under 16 years old, it is $2,500. For our family of six, the total will be $20,000.
2. Visa application for entry to Egypt: $300 per person, totaling $1,800 for our family.
3. Passport fees: $100 per person, totaling $600 for our family.
4. Costs for my mother’s treatment: $15,000 to cover hospital fees, surgeries, and other medical services.
5. Basic living costs and temporary accommodation in Egypt: $1,500 per month for six months, totaling $9,000.
6. Education for my four children: $5,000 for six months.
The total amount required: $49,000.
Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a big difference.
You can donate through the link in the bio (GoFundMe).
Thank you for your generosity and support in these difficult times.

Using the bathroom in general is a human right and should be enshrined as such and I'm not joking. Too many groups of people are denied bathroom breaks or the use of bathrooms entirely--disabled people, blue-collar workers, children, homeless people, prisoners, students, the elderly. I'm surely missing other groups. Not using the bathroom when needed can cause serious, long-term damage, not to mention death. Free, clean, accessible bathrooms should be available everywhere. It's fucking cruel to deny someone the use of the bathroom, regardless of the reasoning. I'd rather every student in the world goof off and every homeless person make a mess and every worker "steal company time" than let one person suffer because they're denied the right to fucking pee in peace.

Alright, so, a little update on @lawrence86sblog and their dire situation. They gave me more information on how things are going in their life in a form of masterpost, which I assume they post on their account as well. I already made a post explaining how their lives are.

I hope that this reaches enough people who can help them, along with many other queer individuals get the basic necessities for one's life. However, I stated on previous posts, they don't have a fundraiser and are unable to set one up due to, as they stated, being in Africa. I don't think that I can set up a fundraiser, because I'm not familiar with the concept of sharing money via the internet — however, if someone is willing and can set up one for them, I believe it would help them out.
Steren/Astro, out.

The study, by the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work and nonprofit organization Miracle Messages, showed such promising results that the authors decided to publish interim results six months into the yearlong study. As the Los Angeles Times reports, the stipend made a significant difference, with the money going to:
food, 36.6%; housing, 19.5%; transportation, 12.7%; clothing, 11.5%; and healthcare, 6.2%, leaving only 13.6% uncategorized. Those who got the stipend were less likely to be unsheltered after six months and able to meet more of their basic needs than a control group that got no money, and half as likely as the control group to have an episode of being unsheltered.
And no, Joe Manchin, the money didn’t all go to drugs and alcohol. According to the study’s lead author Benjamin Henwood, who directs the Center for Homelessness, Housing and Health Equity Research at the Dworak-Peck School, about two percent of the funds went to alcohol, drug expenses, or cigarettes — primarily cigarettes, in fact.
“It may not be earth-shattering that providing money is going to help meet basic needs, but I do think it dispels this myth that people will use money for illicit purposes,” Henwood said. “We weren’t finding that in the study.”
One of the most impressive results was that the stipends seem to have really helped people get off the streets:
After six months, only 12% of those who received funds reported being unsheltered at any time in the prior month, a dramatic decrease from 30% at the outset. Those on the waiting list also reported fewer unsheltered episodes, but by a much smaller margin, from 28% to 23%. […] Among those receiving the funds, some found permanent housing, even though the money fell far below average rents in the area, Henwood said. “It seems like it’s opening up possibilities in different ways,” he said. “They might have a friend or relative that may not be willing to support them completely, but if they have something to contribute that opens up a room.”
Those are preliminary results, but they’re pretty encouraging; after the study runs a full year, a more comprehensive report will be done; Henwood told the LA Times he didn’t expect those initial robust results to change significantly.
