Home For Christmas
Terry Richmond x BLACK!FEM!reader
WARNINGS: none, lil bit of angst if you squint, fluff, short.
SUMMARY: Your husband, Terry, promises to be home to you and your daughters for Christmas, but will he really?
✮✮✮✮
The snow outside lit up the yard in the moonlight, frost nipping at the windowsill the more the weather dropped. There wasn’t a soul outside, not even the little black cat you saw wandering around late at night. Even she couldn’t be bothered with the harsh cold.
The house was warm and so was the hot chocolate you cuddled in your hand, but nothing could warm you the way you needed to be warmed. Nothing could make you feel the Christmas spirit you wanted to feel.
You missed your husband like crazy and your kids did too. They could feel the sadness radiating off of your body and it didn’t make it better for them, but you couldn’t help it. Terry had been stuck in another state for work, promising that he’d be back on time for Christmas, yet, he hadn’t shown and it was 5 hours to 12.
The roads had closed and from what you heard, till further notice. Flights were being canceled left and right, hell, you were nearly snowed into the house, only a small walk way you shoveled earlier prevailing, but even that was starting to freeze over a bit.
“Mama” Your 7 year old daughter, Tiana, called for you, looking up from her laying position in your lap.
You gave her your attention, a soft smile spreading on your face. She looked just like you when she was upset. You felt bad that she was sad too, but it was the cutest face she made that made you smile.
“I thought daddy said he’d be here by nowww” She whines, her baby sister, Jasmine, almost immediately getting annoyed as this was her fifth time mentioning what she thought was the obvious.
“Ana, you have to wait! Mommy told you already” Her little finger pointed at sister with agitation on her face that made you wanna laugh, but that’d just get you scolded by ‘little miss thinks she’s mommy’ too and you didn’t think you had the energy to correct it tonight.
She had so much attitude before she even turned 4, all of it inherited right from Terry when it came to people she cared for the most, a trait of loyalty you were sure Terry also took part in.
Before they could even get to arguing, you set your mug down on the windowsill and gathered them both up next to you, their matching onesies getting all bunched up from mixing in one spot for so long.
“Aht, cut it out you two. Daddy means well when he tells us things, but…maybe he just got the times wrong. If he isn’t back by tomorrow, then we’ll just have to forgive him, okay?”
Your youngest’s eyes quickly fill with tears that pull at your heart strings, her lip poking up with a quiver only Terry could settle at the moment. “So he’s not coming back tonight?”
You sigh. A few more hours of this and you were sure to cry with her.
“How about we wish really hard and go to bed, then see what happens?” Your children were quick to try and disagree while attempting to flee, but you swooped them up into your arms anyway and cuddled them close, giving them their nightly kisses.
Your back may be aching tomorrow from sharing a couch with two children, but they convinced you earlier to be around here to ‘catch santa’ and you couldn’t help but give in with the possibility of Terry not being here and upsetting them further.
Hours ticked by and you counted almost all of them, going in and out of sleep until you were knocked out of your cycle by the sound of boots against hardwood. Your eyes cracked open, seemingly at the same time as the mini-me’s laying on top of you, that followed by a gasp from both of the girls.
You and the kids almost leap from your seats, the sun outside the floor to ceiling windows in the living room making an attempt to blind all three of you, but all of you were on a mission that couldn’t be ruined by sleep still being in your eyes.
“DADDY!!!” The screams of joy were so loud from the kids that you would have thought they were awake all along, not a speck of grogginess in their voice.
Terry toppled over with both of them jumping for his legs, but he still managed to hold them properly, giving them both kisses on their chubby cheeks that they happily accepted. You had no idea how he pulled something like this off, not to mention bringing the rest of their presents from ‘santa’ in without disturbing anyone’s sleep.
“Really?” You ask in disbelief, Terry giving you a shrug before sitting up, sending the two off to pick a present out to open.
You were still curious, a shrug not being enough for you. “How?” You squint, helping him up from the floor.
“Christmas magic, baby. I always find a way”
He smiles and kisses your lips, then leads you to the tree. Again, the explanation wasn’t enough.
“Oh, please! Don’t gimme that, I’m not five, Terry” You complain, pulling his hand off of yours to demand a direct answer.
Terry sighs and looks at you with his arms now crossed, still happy despite being pressed before you even moved to give him a kiss first. “If I told you, you’d call me a liar”
“Well…” You wait, tapping your foot to add on effect.
There was a hint of childishness in his smile, you already knowing this wouldn’t be the answer you wanted either. “Santa brought me”
“….Nigg-”
Before you could even call out bullshit, You were quickly shut up by the presence of your kids, the both of them gasping in awe at what they just overheard being revealed to you.
“You know what…fine” You throw your hands up in defeat and chop it up to what he said, Christmas magic.
✮✮✮✮
As the children settled down and played with their toys, you became stuck to your husbands side like you were glued there, your arms wrapped around him. You admired him while he admired the kids, your tummy fluttering with butterflies similar to when you two first met.
“I really hope you know…” You started, bringing his attention to you.
“Hm?”
“That I love you and your determination to always come through for us, especially your kids, makes me love you even more”
He smiles brightly, his heart skipping beats. “I’m supposed to. Not that I don’t want to also, but I hate to see yall upset. Plus, I couldn’t miss their faces opening their new ballet shoes”
You smile back at him and stand on your tip toes for a kiss, savoring the warmth of his embrace.
“Oh, and I was gonna let them jump you if you were late. They told me not to tell you” You say after pulling from your fifth kiss that day.
“Wooow, straight out the gate? No warning?”
“Mhm! nothing but elbows as soon as you walked through that door”
Terry shook his head with a laugh, already plotting on catching the two off guard with a little roughhousing session.
“It be your own kids”
“Yup. May have told them to get a little lick in for me too”
You shrug, letting him go and walking off into the kitchen, knowing he’d follow like a stray.
“Damn, mama too? What’d I do to her?”
Wrapping his arms around you while still in motion, he mimics your footsteps all the way to the counter.
“Leave me with two hard heads for a week. I got something for you later though”
He smiles against your neck then playfully bites at you, your chin tucking in to protect yourself.
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, Mrs.Richmond”
✮✮✮✮

"Broken", Not Stupid - 4
Pairing: alpha!Simon "Ghost" Riley x unusual omega!OC (13)
CW: Omegaverse; cult-like situation; dehumanization
Author's Note: I can't stop. Oops. If you want to be on the tag list, drop a comment to let me know <3 Also, I feel the need to warn you that CoD fic is what got me into Omegaverse and this is the first time I've written it lol
Thirteen hours.
It took thirteen hours for the paperwork to be filled out and processed. They'd dragged Simon off immediately to fill out the paperwork and I was "escourted" (dragged) to my space to wait.
The last thirteen hours have been spent with staff members pampering me. Bathing me, doing my hair and makeup, dressing me in clothes that aren't Salvation's omega dresscode - all of it. There was even something of a literal photoshoot?
I don't know why they needed photos of me, but I always knew these people were weird.
However, all of that lead to me being prettily posed in the room they keep omegas in while they wait for their new alphas to arrive. Specifically at 10:30 pm. I almost want to shoot Simon for the insistence of immediate pick-up.
Could be asleep by now.
A knock at the door pulls me from my whirlwind of thoughts and I sit up straighter, putting on my best "submissive omega" impression for whoever enters.
"UK-009-0013? Your alpha has arrived," an employee calls from the other side of the door.
I stand quickly and tug gently at the way-too-big black skull tshirt that they ended up putting me in at some point.
"Come in."
The door creaks open and reveals Jenny - who looks way too happy - and Simon.
"There she is, sir. In the clothes you dropped off, as you requested," Jenny says a bit too proudly.
"I can see that."
I have to suppress my laugh at the look of hurt on Jenny's face at Simon's lack of praise. Instead, I continue my "submissive omega" act and begin fidgeting with the edge of the tshirt while looking up at Simon through my lashes. The more smitten I appear the better.
"Simon," I call to him softly, meekly.
He wastes no time crossing the room and scooping me into his arms at the sound of my voice. My arms wrap tightly around him and I grab fistfuls of the back of his hoodie.
"Anyway you can tone that shit down a bit?" he whispers into my ear, voice a bit strained.
"Not if you want any chance of getting me out of here without roadblocks," I whisper back with my face burried against his neck. "Don't make it weird."
I'm acting, to him, like I'm unphased by having an alpha but the seemingly-dormant omega portion of my brain seems to be waking up. She's still drowsy and unsure what's happening, but with my face shoved against his neck...
I can smell him.
I've never been this close, physically, to any alpha before. The fact that doing so is triggering the omega part of my brain is royally pissing me off. Thankfully, Simon loosens his grip on me and steps back. One of his hands drops to mine, his fingers lacing through mine.
"Everything is settled. Correct?" Simon addresses Jenny agan as he turns. "I'd like to take my future mate home now."
My cheeks warm slightly at the comment and the implications, but I remind myself that it's part of the act to get me (and hopefully other omegas) out of Salvation's grasp.
"Of course! Everything is settled and you're both free to go." Jenny's smile is unsettling, as per usual, but so is her choice in wording. It's clear from the way Simon's grip tightens around my hand that he also finds it strange. However, as promised, we are allowed to leave with no problems.
As soon as we're out of view of the property, I feel my entire body relax. My muscles ache from being tense for so long - literal years - and I'm tearing up out of relief.
Bless Simon, though. If he noticed my change in demeanor, he didn't comment or react.
"Are these... your clothes?" I ask once I manage to force the tears back.
He stays quiet for so long I start to think he didn't even hear me.
"Would it bother you if I said yes?"
Not... the response I was expecting, but alright.
"Not really, no. It'd be expected. Giving me things with your scent and all that." I toy with the strings on the sweatpants. They're long and hang low from how tightly I had to tie them to get the pants to stay up.
"This, whatever it is, doesn't have to be like that." His voice is gentle, unlike what it has been 99% of the time. Even when we were playing our parts to get me out of there there was a mostly gruff, gravely tone to his voice. I glance at him, confused as all hell, but his eyes are trained on the road.
"Didn't you go to Salvation to find an omega? A mate?"
"Yeah, I guess," he shrugs, eyes forward still. "But there are more important things in the world than finding a mate and reproducing for the sake of having a mate and reproducing. Like rights and safety. Especially that of omegas."
The omega in my mind seems sad at his offer and point of view of our situation, but I couldn't be happier. Salvation is not what it implies and I knew I would never get out of there or be able to help my fellow omegas while stuck in their grasp.
An alpha who seems to actually care about the wellbeing of others. Even if he is a bit... odd.
Things could be worse. A lot worse.

zoro x gn! reader
wc: 663
this is the first part of a series "you're in love with me" where you realize that they are in love with you can call them out on it
thanks for voting on this one, i had fun with it, sorry it took so long, i got busy with the holidays, but it’s here now 💕
ace's is done and will be up probably tomorrow and i'm gonna start on sanjis, but lmk if you are interested in any other characters
not proof read lol
this goes one of two ways, in both you're being called stupid, both included
it's a chose your own adventure babe!
zoro has been acting strange recently- he was almost too quick to come to your aid, even if it was something you both knew you could handle alone. he’s also been making sure that you eat. recently he brought up a plate for you when you were on duty in the crow’s nest. sure, the tips of his ears and the apples of his cheeks were tinted pink, but that was easy to write off as a consequence of the alcohol that was surely in his veins. but he didn’t leave right away like you thought he would, he stood on the ladder without moving until he saw you take your first bite. on the last island there had been a miscalculation in your provisions and the ship was running dangerously low on alcohol. there was no doubt that the crew was going to run dry shy of meeting their next destination, which was a bigger deal to some of the straw hats than others. it all brings you to the moment he offers you a sip of the last bottle of sake. you’re speechless. you always thought that hell sure would freeze over before he shared his booze and here he is willingly offering you some. you’re trying to figure out what was going on in his head, why he has been acting so strange, then it hits you. “you’re in love with me.”
denial is a river in egypt
“did you hit your head or sum?” he asks, trying to remain as impartial as possible, but you didn’t miss how he nearly choked at your words. “no, zo, this makes sense,” you say connecting the dots, "you've been acting real weird about me recently, this explains it." you aren’t about to back down from this, not after you wanted this for so long, not until he admits it to himself. “you’re being an idiot,” he rolls his eyes, “do you want some or not?” with a smile you grab the bottle out of his hand and take a swig, sitting down next to him. “i don’t mind you know,” you say taking another sip, “that you love me that is” zoro is confused why he is so drawn to the dangerous smile that plays on your lips. he shakes himself out of it snatching back the bottle and taking a long gulp. you get pulled away by luffy wanting something, but he still feels your presence. little do you know how those words haunt him for the rest of the night. fuck, you might be right
he's down bad and he knows it
“n-no I’m not,” zoro sputters, his face alight, “are you stupid or something?” “no, no, this is why you’ve been acting strange,” you say, the weight of your revelation still sinking in. “that’s why you haven’t let me out of your sight for the past week, right?” you don’t give him time to respond (not that he would be able to formulate a coherent response anyway). you continue listing all of his abnormal behaviors and fail to notice how his face grows redder with your every word. poor zoro is sinking into his seat hoping to disappear he’s so uncomfortable. he’s certain that he messed everything up and has no idea what to do now. he knows that you’re right of course, it’s kept him up at night, kept him from his precious naps. it took him a while to realize why you never left his mind, and the determining factor came from the fucking cook spewing some bullshit to a pretty woman on the last island. just when he is certain that he ruined whatever relationship you could ever have you turn to him with a big smile. “it’s a good thing you are though, or else this would be awkward,” you tell him, before he can even think to question what you mean your lips are on his and his brain malfunctions. maybe it’ll be alright.

TW: This chapter contains physical violence, bullying towards neurodivergent/autistic people, vi being a biiiit of a dick, and jinx just being a chaotic mess (we love her)
WC: 4.5k
Part III
bad blood
“Can you read mine?” I blurted out once I returned to the full table where Jinx was scanning through her cards once more. My hands and cheeks were probably as red as rubies as I took my seat, and hoped to actually stay in it for a while this time.
“I can, but just so you know I am simply a messenger and if the cards need to call you out then they will.” She explained with a clearly targeted scowl towards Ellie.
“You’re into this kind of thing?” Vi wondered with a soft nudge of my foot underneath the table as she was already lounging back against the couch.
“A little, yeah.” I shrugged simply before turning back towards Jinx with a small flush on my cheeks. “Go ahead, I’m ready to be called out.”
“Excellent.” Jinx grinned in a way that I could only describe as maniacal as she whipped out a lighter and a bundle of what looked like dried grass squeezed together with twine.
“Ummm, aren’t you not supposed to have an open flame in here?” Ellie chirped almost anxiously from her spot.
“Geez, you guys really are so tense. Why don’t you take a breath?” An unfamiliar voice chimed in from across the table immediately causing Ellie’s head to pop up in the direction of the girl that had spoke. Dina, I believed is what her name was tossed back her long black hair over her shoulder. “Jinx has only blown up a couple of things anyways.”
“That is an absolutely wild thing to say.” Ellie enunciated in what could almost be read as horror. “You understand how that’s an absolutely wild thing to say right?”
“Relax, you’re not supposed to have a lot of things in here. Firearms, explosives, the weed Vi has stashed in her bag and what she’s definitely going to smoke later.” Jinx drawled on as she expertly blew out the flame sparked on the bunched up grass before letting the smoke envelop the tarot deck with ease.
“What the hell, dude! Be a little bit quieter whenever you say that!” Vi voiced with a mild groan.
“You can shuffle, in any way you want.” Jinx responded without a care in the world as she passed the deck off towards me.
“Okay… cool.” I spoke, retrieving my frostbitten and clearly shaking hands from my pockets.
“Mills, you look like you’re freezing, do you want this?” Ellie questioned with a gentle nudge as she was already reaching for the edges of her flannel to pull it off.
“It’s all good, it was my fault anyways. I’ve got it.” Vi chimed in with a clear of her throat as she shrugged the leather jacket from her shoulders. I could’ve gasped at the large muscles on display, the tattoos stretching from her back and down her arms, one of which just slightly concealed by a layer of bandages wrapped around her forearm which nearly had me thinking the worst at first had it not been for the other injuries sprinkled around her body. One atop her bicep by her shoulders and one just off to the side of her chest. Suddenly the underground fighting ring made sense.
“God, you are such a fucking whore. Can you not distract her while I’m trying to give her a reading?” Jinx groaned in annoyance as she gave her a subtle shove even though it looked as if Vi could overpower her pretty easily.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been so insecure in my life actually.” Ellie mumbled to herself with a bit of a grimace. “God, I really need to hit the gym.”
“Hockey players usually work out together a few times a week if you wanna come.” Vi directed towards Ellie with a knowing smirk just before I could feel the leather jacket being draped over my shoulders. It was so warm I nearly felt every bit of the cold from outside melting away, her distinctive masculine scent still lingering now even more so. “You can come too, doll.”
The heat in my cheeks remained as I slid my arms through the oversized jacket that could’ve nearly swallowed me. “Maybe.” I answered with a tiny shrug as I shuffled the cards around in my hand, every attempt to look cool probably muddled by how flustered I seemed to be with every little comment she made. “Here.” I cleared my throat as I handed the cards back to the curious Jinx.
“Alright… here we go.” She practically smirked as she pulled three cards from the deck and spread them out in front of me before flipping the first one over with a flourish. Immediately my heart seemed to twist in my chest at the art piece scrawled across: Death. “Nice, I don’t see that one often!” Jinx seemed much too cheerful at the sight as she reached across the table to give me a pat on the back.
“Ummm… wh-what does that mean?” I stammered with widened eyes.
“Relax new girl, Death doesn’t always mean actual death, usually it just means… like, losing a certain part of your life. Or even killing off a part of yourself. It’s a sign something in your life needs to be let go of, something that isn’t serving you anymore. Now… next up we have-” she began with a flip of the next one, “The Lovers. Questionable at best.”
“I thought the lovers was a good card.” Ellie spoke in confusion from next to me.
“You would think, the true card of love is oftentimes seen as Two of Cups though. The Lovers itself represents… choices, you could say. Choices, temptations, with the addition of the death card it could also indicate sacrifice?” She shrugged as if delivering the most casual piece of news ever before flipping over the last card. “Seven of Cups, you’re a daydreamer, aren’t you?” She questioned with probably the first genuine smile I had seen her crack since we’d been here.
“Being a writer, yeah, kind of comes with the territory.” I said with a nervous smile of my own.
“Keep it up, because you could find purpose in those daydreams.“ It seemed so simple compared to the other two cards, so much so I nearly felt myself hyperfixating on that one card alone even as she slid everything back into place. “Sweet, that was an intense one, but definitely juicy.”
“That’s one way to put it, I guess.” I stated with the same heat creeping back up into my cheeks almost annoyingly.
~
I didn’t feel super talkative throughout the rest of the night besides a quick rush to the bathroom to deliver the news of the kiss to Ellie. It was still hard to gauge her reaction. I almost wondered if she’d be happier if it was someone else, anyone else besides the fighting hockey player who had fucked my sister a solid few times. And maybe she had a point. Ellie was a quiet sort of protective though. She never stopped me from doing anything, she would give her thoughts in private declarations, and was always there if things went south. I guess maybe that’s why it was hard to know how she felt.
Luckily for her own overactive imagination though, she was a lightweight. Two beers in and it became as easy as ever for her to drag herself into her own room and knock out. I wish it could’ve been the same for me, or I drank more either way because the moment I curled up in bed sleep became impossible.
My thoughts were completely consumed by her. Her unruly and spiky pink hair she probably stained every surface with dying. The scent of her cologne that I wished lingered just a little bit longer. The feel of her warm hands on my body with her husky voice and muscular frame.
No, sleep wasn’t anywhere near in my future.
~
It was past 8 whenever Ellie finally woke up to find me hunched over my laptop in the living room and surrounded with various pieces of ripped paper and my journal plopped face down on the coffee table. “Woah, you’re up early.” She spoke through a yawn as she rubbed at her eyes.
“I never went to sleep.” I answered without looking up from my laptop, fingers flying across the keys.
“Christ.” Ellie cursed under her breath as she smacked her open palm against her face. “Millie, you should’ve came and got me if you were having trouble sleeping.” She groaned, shuffling forward in her mothman slippers to plop down next to me. “Babe, hands off of the keyboard for a second.” She ordered, gentle but stern hands wrapping around my wrists to pry them from the keys.
“No wait, not yet! They’re about to have their meet cute! Their- Their inciting incident.” I protested as Ellie snatched the laptop from my grasp, eyes briefly scanning over the lit up screen.
“Are you- Are you writing a love story?” She wondered in almost shock. “I thought you were working on a tragedy.”
“All love stories are inherently tragedies.” I spoke, twirling a pen I had stolen from the coffee table in between my fingers as the sudden thought sprung up into my head. “To love is to- is to-” I groaned a bit at the blurry end of the sentence somewhere in my mind, quickly flipping to an empty page of my journal to scribble down the words. “To love is be vulnerable. No, no, that’s not it.” I huffed as I roughly marked out the words. “To love is to accept loss- but love isn’t always accepting though.”
“You know love isn’t supposed to feel like that.” Ellie sighed a bit, gentle fingers carefully tucking the stray strands of hair out of my face as they had escaped from the loose ponytail a while ago.
I blew out another hefty sigh as I hunched forward to bury my head in my arms. “I’m sorry you have to deal with my mania.”
“You’re not making me deal with anything… I’m your best friend. It’s part of it.” She spoke with a shake of her head, gentle but strong arms coming upwards to tug me away from the mess of the coffee table. “C’mon, you need to get some sleep. I’ll be your pillow.”
“You just woke up, and I thought you had practice.” I protested even though I never wanted to say no to her offer of cuddles. Maybe it was inappropriate and I was a bit too obsessed with cuddles. It felt like since I was a kid it had always been hard to fall asleep without a body next to me. I couldn’t count the times I had snuck off to Caitlyn’s room in the middle of the night and crawled underneath the blankets with her. It was just the security of being next to someone. Sometimes an illusion. But I think I was okay with illusions for now.
“Not until later, and it’s only for a few hours before club rush.” Ellie answered just before stretching her longer legs across the length of the couch giving me few choices but to snuggle into her chest. “I wouldn’t mind a little bit more shut eye though, I just wanted to check on you.”
“Wake me up before you leave?” My voice sounded half muffled burrowed in her black shirt.
“Not a chance.” She denied, lounging her head against the arm rest of the couch to use as a makeshift pillow. “You can wake up on your own time and then if we’re still practicing you can meet me at the rink to watch.” She said hopefully causing a little grin to stretch on my lips.
“Sheesh, no wonder people think we’re dating. You’re a stage 5 clinger.” I teased with a giggle.
“Okay, who is the one currently clung to me like a damn koala right now? Sorry I forgot.”
“Dipshit.” I gave her shoulder a playful shove just before curling back up to her chest, it was hard not to get tired with her cuddles. She was soft, the quiet thump of her heartbeat always echoed in my ears, she kept her breathing steady, a calm rise and fall that she timed with the soothing circles she always rubbed on my back. And she smelled exactly like the way I imagined skipping through a wildflower field would. “I love you.” I murmured in a sleepy voice, my heavy eyes finally drawing to a close.
“I love you too, squirt.” I could faintly hear her voice just before I felt myself doze off.
~
Whenever I woke up again Ellie was already long gone, a blanket draped over top of me and a large squishmallow shoved underneath my head to act as a pillow. The apartment felt weird being empty, a few boxes that had yet to be unpacked scattered around the area and I had to fight the urge to start trying to unpack some more. Then I would probably never leave.
The lack of sleep still weighed heavily on my brain but at least I didn’t feel like I was going to keel over anymore. I threw myself in the shower for a hot second hoping it would wake me up, and thankfully it sort of did. I decided on a simple band hoodie and a pair of leggings after shooting a text to Caitlyn and asking what the dress code for club rush was. Luckily there really wasn’t one.
I rubbed at the sleep in my eyes before going to place my glasses back on my face before an alternate thought crossed my mind. I usually didn’t wear my contacts, they were difficult to get in and occasionally weren’t sensory friendly but… maybe it could be time for a change. So with a heavy breath I plopped the little pieces of plastic into my eyes, a string of blinks and a few watery tears following.
I speed braided a strand of my hair before tossing it up into a low ponytail. Then sending Ellie a quick text for a coffee order while packing my things up for a semi busy day, headphones, medicine, notebooks, laptop etc…
Ellie Sunshine ☀️: the rink actually has a sick coffee bar you have to check out 🤭
Ellie Sunshine ☀️: also abby is out for blood today- if i die just know i want to be planted into a tree. willow specifically.
Millie Moon 🌙: i’ll avenge you bby g
Ellie Sunshine ☀️: AVENGE ME MILLIE!! AVENGE ME!!
I let out a giggle at her text messages before slipping my phone back into my pocket and shoving my AirPods into my ears before I could go and retrieve my bike. I always felt a level of anxiety whenever I walked outside alone and I wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was the general sense that things were well and truthfully changing. I was trying to be independent though. It’s not as if Ellie and I had every single class together, there were bound to be some days we’d leave at different times. I needed to get used to it.
The indoor hockey rink was a tall and intimidating structure. Designed to look like a ship it looked more like a dystopian hell than anything. Grey and cold and the dreary weather of Oxford didn’t help either.
Practice was already in full swing working on scoring or a scrimmage or… I wasn’t entirely sure. Sports were never really my thing, nevertheless though I never turned down the chance to go to a game with Caitlyn. Call it the gay in me, I guess. That little aspect suddenly made her relationship with Vi make more sense. She was a beast on the ice, a ruthless animal who wasn’t afraid to get too rough. Not rough in the way that her teammate Abby Anderson seemed to get though. Ellie was right. She did seem to be out for blood with the way she zipped around the ice and treated her stick like it was an extension of her arm.
I gnawed on my bottom lip as I scanned the rink for Ellie’s figure while digging out my notebook. I was so glad she had finally gotten a chance to play. Playing all through high school only to have most of her time overtook by the army afterwards, she was almost afraid she was too out of practice to get back into it. She was great though, better than any typical freshman, I swore she nearly cried whenever she finally got her jersey. Proud to have her name on something for once.
A little smile stretched on my lips at the sight of her whipping around the ice with ease, a slight glimpse of unkept pink hair took my attention though as she skated in towards the puck from the opposite side. The name: Violence written in place of a last name on the back of her jersey. “Ugh, I can’t believe they let her do that.” I heard a scoff from behind me, flinching just the slightest bit before I could around to face the sound. Jinx stood on the row behind me, blue braids spun up into two thick space buns secured at the bottom of her head. “Violence. It’s so cheesy.” She hopped down into the same row as me, plopping down in the seat next to mine before lounging back on her elbows. “So- come here often?” She teased with a waggle of her eyebrows causing me to let out a little laugh.
“Uhhh… no, actually, Ellie wanted me to meet her at practice though so- I’m here.” I said with a tiny shrug while twirling my pencil around my fingers.
“What’re you working on?” Jinx wondered next with a quick change of subject as she gave my notebook a little nudge.
“Oh uhhh… just this like- song thing, I guess you could call it. I started it last night I just, you know, had this chorus in my head.” I answered with a bit of heat creeping up into my cheeks. “Y-You can read it if you want.” I wondered cautiously, always expecting the worst, but I swore I could’ve seen Jinx’s eyes light up in that moment.
“Oh! Word?!” She exclaimed with a grin before snatching the notebook from my hands without hesitation. “I’d love to!” She grinned before letting her eyes scan over the page. All the while I fidgeted with the ends of my sleeves hoping my one paragraphed unedited chorus wasn’t too bad. “Woah- you are quite down bad over somebody if I must say. I mean, it’s good! It’s definitely good… but- definitely down bad.”
My cheeks felt as rosy as ever and not just because of the cold as I shook my head, but not in denial. “I’m- I don’t know what’s going on with me. I-I haven’t felt this way since-“
“Ellie?” Jinx predicted with ease causing my eyes to widen in surprise.
“Wha- wh-why would you think that? I mean, don’t you have a close friend that everybody thinks you’re dating?”
Jinx only snickered with a smirk as she gave me a quick nudge, “Nope.” She said almost proudly with a loud pop. “I get why you guys aren’t together though, dating your mental hospital roomie can get complicated. I mean, I’m not saying that dating Vi wouldn’t be complicated either but-”
“Wait, how did you? I- I never told you any of that.”
“Doggy, was yesterday not a clue? I stay eavesdropping, I’m in everybody else’s business but my own. Especially my sister’s.” Jinx explained without a hint of shame, and I almost had to respect it.
“I- I don’t know how I feel about you watching me make out with your sister.” I spoke with my eyebrows furrowing together in response, but all I got from Jinx was a loud gasp as she gave me a little swat.
“Oh my God, new girl! I didn’t listen in to that point! Holy shit!” She practically squealed but all it made me do was cringe in anxiety. “Well, whatever it is you’re into, you might wanna figure it out. You’re not the only one who’s got a little crush.” Jinx hummed as she gave me a little nudge and gestured off towards one of the other sides of the rink where the same girl from last night was stood. Black hair tied up in a low ponytail this time, arms crossed as she peered into the rink with a look of fierce concentration.
“Well, I want Ellie to be happy so- if Ellie likes her then… I would be okay with it.” I voiced, though trying to hide the general crushing weight that crept into my chest just at the mere mention. The same ache Ellie had told me about last night. “Besides, she doesn’t like me like that- she made it really clear.”
“Did she? Because I know we’re not exactly experts at reading human emotions.”
“Well, I’m an expert at reading Ellie at least.” I shrugged with a little sigh.
A commotion knocked us both from our conversation though, a little breath hitching in my throat the moment I saw Abby’s gloved hands on Ellie again. “Stop!” I yelped out in anxiety, briefly remembering the memory of her telling me about the plethora of injuries she had received from the explosion that had changed everything, a TBI staring right at me in glowing red lights.
Their helmets went rolling down the ice as I watched the two girls hit the floor, “Fucks sake, Abby!” Ellie groaned in pain as her bare cheekbone touched the ice. Thankfully she was strong and knew how to fight back as she swung her off of her, hand flying to her cheek with a hiss of pain.
“Anderson! I told you save for the violence for the other team! That’s the second time you’ve targeted Williams in two days-“ The intimidating coach finally exclaimed from her observational spot in the wings, though part of her seemed to be willing to let it play out.
“Well maybe she should stay out of my fucking shot!” Abby exclaimed, a declaration that had me widening my eyes at her bravery that she’d speak to someone like Sevika in that way. Sevika who already looked as if she was about to blow. The Andersons were much like the Kirammans though, in the sense a lot of the faculty needed to be careful.
“I’m on fucking defense, Abby! What do you expect me to do?! A-Are you gonna do this during actual games too?!” Ellie shouted as she removed her hand to reveal the angry red splotch underneath her eye where she had been rammed into the ice.
“That was a foul, I saw it.” Vi spoke up as she flew over towards where the two girls stood just off of the ice. “She swiped her so she’d purposefully fall on her face.”
Coach Sevika held up a hand as if to tell her it’d be taken care of. “Everyone, take 5, Anderson, Williams, work out your issues and don’t come back until you do. Williams, do you need a medic?”
“I’m fine, I can take care of it.” Ellie huffed as she pushed herself off of the ice with a wince.
“Then why did you get us benched?!” Abby bellowed as she trailed close behind her to give her a firm shove.
“Hey! Stop, leave her alone!” I repeated probably helplessly for the second time, taking off down the stairs and after where the two were arguing.
For a moment I nearly saw Ellie’s past flash in her usually gentle green eyes. The US Army solider who had had to defend herself from much worse and was always prepared for the worst. I didn’t wanna know what would’ve happened if I hadn’t reached her whenever I did. Nearly tripping over my own two feet as I cautiously crept up next to her. She had taught me a long time ago how to approach her whenever a PTSD trigger hit. I never really got the chance to before Abby was lashing out again, darting her angered expression towards me to the point where I nearly flinched.
“Ellie why don’t you tell your fucking schizo of a girlfriend to stay out of it!”
Ellie’s eyes darkened in a way I hadn’t seen before, the way I imagined they would have on the battlefield as she whipped around to face her with an intensity that had almost gotten her her first shot against her. “What did you just fucking call her?!”
“Ellie, Ellie please- don’t.”
“What the hell is your problem, Anderson?” Vi had finally caught up to the two and I was thanking my lucky stars that she hadn’t heard what had come out of Abby’s mouth.
I gulped an anxious lump down my throat as I slid a hand into Ellie’s gloved one, attempting to pull her off towards the locker rooms but her feet were grounded in place. “I’m really fucking sorry about what happened to your dad, Abby, okay?” She finally spoke up earning me a confused expression from Vi that I could only meet with a shrug. “It was disgusting, inexcusable and it never should’ve happened and trust me whenever I say those soliders never should’ve gotten away with it and I swear to you if I would’ve had any say in it then they wouldn’t have. But respectfully if you have any shit you need to take out on me then do it off of the ice, and if you say one more word like that about Millie you’re going to see that US Army side of me real fucking fast.”
My eyes widened in shock, almost feeling like my feet were glued to the floor as I watched her whirl around and head towards the direction I had been trying to pull her in. “What did you fucking say about Millie?” Venom seemed to drip from Vi’s lips as she turned towards Abby with a fierce glare.
“Uh-oh-” I could hear Jinx’s subtle commentary causing me to curse underneath my breath.
“Man, it isn’t important, I was just pissed.” Abby tried to brush off, but Vi wasn’t having it.
“Clearly it was if you felt the need to bring her into this so tell me, what did you fucking say to her?!” Vi growled just before slamming her body into the protective glass wrapping around the rink.
“Vi- s-stop, please!” I stammered, reaching out to latch onto her broad shoulders as I tried to pry her off. She was so much bigger though, pure muscle seeming to be made out of steel as she refused to move.
“Millie, go check on Ellie, okay? I’ll handle this.” She ordered, body towering over mine even as she peered over her shoulder to face me.
“Violet please-“
“I wasn’t asking!” The words probably came out much harsher then expected causing me to wince once more. She commanded authority, and still I wondered if she was simply trying to protect me or what. But I wouldn’t challenge her after that.
“O-Okay.” I stammered, an ache settling behind my eyes as I turned on my heel to venture back into the locker room.
“Ugh, you are such a dick, do you know that?” I heard Jinx’s voice carry down the hallway, meanwhile I gulped down a heavy lump in my throat as I quickened my pace to take off in Ellie’s direction.
A/N: Two hot girls fighting for your honor- wow, living the dream 🩵
As always please let me know your thoughts! I am really am trying to slow down but it’s hard to whenever I love what I’m writing so much 🤭🥹

Home for the Holidays
Billy Hargrove x Fem!OC (Kim Mayfield)
Folgers Christmas commercial anyone???
CW: Stepcest/Pseudocest, Unprotected sex
Billy comes home for the holidays.
For my lovely @sadhours
She sat with her legs crossed, hers fingers pressed tightly against the pages of her book as she tried to force herself to concentrate on the words that filled the pages, but she was unable too. No, she was too excited to try and pretend like she was reading.
Her heart was throbbing roughly, far before she saw the familiar blue Camaro coming into view. But the sight of it only made her even more thrilled. She was up without another word, a smile plastered to her lips as she rushed towards the front door. She didn’t care about putting on her coat, her hat or her gloves. Not even her shoes. She just wanted to see him.
She pulled the front door open, wincing as the sharp wind cut through the screen windows. Goosebumps grew across her skin, leaving a chill within her bones as the winter breeze pushed her around. But she paid it no mind, too focused on the dirty blonde man that was approaching her.
“I must have the wrong house,” He said, mocking confusion as he tilted his head to look at her, “I don’t remember the girls looking so good here.” He teased, his lips growing into a grin as she found her feet moving before she could stop herself.
She launched herself into his strong arms, holding onto him tightly as his rough palms moved across her slender body. He held onto her tightly, squeezing her so roughly that her toes left the ground. She laughed, her fingers brushing through the curls on the nape of his neck as she inhaled the scent of him. She had missed him so desperately. More than she was sure that he knew.
“You’re going to freeze,” He mumbled from the crook of her neck, his breath smelling like nicotine and mint. All familiar and all real. Not a dream at all, “Kim, come on. It’s cold out.” He said at last, slowly settling her back onto the ground.
She obeyed, taking one last whiff of him and savoring the feeling of his body in his arms before she slowly released him. Even though the only thing that she really wanted to do was grab him by his coat and force him forward, desperate to feel his mouth against her lips. It had been so long since she had kissed him. Well, it felt like it had been anyway.
“I just missed you,” She brushed it off as she pulled the door open, pushing him inside first before she followed behind. She rubbed at her arms when he wasn’t looking, feeling relieved at the sound of the heater kicking on once again, “How was your drive?”
She wondered if he would notice the way the house was decorated differently this year, how the colors were softer and how there were more of them. She had worked hard on it, just for him.
“Boring,” He grinned as he looked back at her, stripping off his winter layers and revealing the simple blue button up shirt that he had on, “There’s nothing to look at.” He complained playfully, shooting her a little wink. She pressed her fingers together, wondering if he could see how excited she was.
“I waited all night for you,” She bit her bottom lip, still fussing with the hem of her nightgown, “I was too excited to sleep.” She told him honestly, sure that he must have already known that. The letters and phone calls weren’t enough, especially when they still had to be cautious about what they said, about who was listening or who may be snooping.
“Yeah?” He questioned as he picked up a cookie, grinning as he looked at it, “I see the evidence.” He took a little bite from it, licking away the frosting from the corner of his lips as she looked at the busy counters. Baking was surely alright; it was Christmas after all.
“I like baking,” She grinned, “It helps distract me. I made you coffee this morning too.” She pointed out, wishing that she had gone ahead and made breakfast. Then again, she was sure that would end up waking everyone else up. And she wanted some time with him on her own, alone.
“You’re just the sweetest.” He hummed as his blue eyes met hers, making her heart nearly stall inside her chest. She stared at his slightly flushed cheeks, still chill from the cold wind. She could still make out the small amount of freckles on his soft nose, never truly hidden away.
She hopped up on the counter a second later, crossing her ankles as she watched him work around the kitchen. He dug behind various mugs before he found his favorite, pulling it free before he poured the coffee into it. She crinkled her nose, unsure of how he could enjoy drinking it plain.
She smiled as he turned towards her again, taking a gulp from his mug as his features relaxed once again. She had a million questions on her mind; varying from how school had been to who he had been hanging with. If he was excited to be back. But she waited, choosing to breathe in the feeling of him nearby instead.
He exhaled deeply before he set his coffee cup down, still watching her as he tilted his head to the side. She followed his movements, unable to hide her grin as her heart pulsed roughly inside of her chest. She wondered what he was thinking, if there was anything he was dying to say too.
“I brought you somethin’,” He mumbled as he reached into his bag a second later, “I hope you like it.” He added softly as he handed the present towards her. It was slightly bigger than her palm, no taller than the mug that he had just sat down. She stared at the rough way the gift was wrapped, at how the bow had been delicately placed.
She twisted the present in her hands for a moment as she inspected it, feeling a warmth pulsing inside of her veins as her heart hammered roughly inside of her chest. She couldn’t stop the flush that spread on her cheeks, nor the giddy feeling that filled her chest. He had thought of her well enough to get her a present. She nearly couldn’t believe it.
She paused as she gently removed the bow, smiling as she noticed the way her name had been written neatly on the wrapping paper. She touched it gently before she turned her attention back to him, reaching forward to stick the bow on his shoulder.
“What are you doing?” He looked down in disbelief, wrinkling his dark eyebrows together before he turned his attention back towards her. His blue eyes were filled with confusion as he parted his lips, looking like he was about to argue with her.
“You’re my present this year.” She stated softly, fully meaning to say it in a teasing manner. But it didn’t come out that way, not at all. It was the truth. He really was her present and he would be for as long as she could help it.
He scoffed and gave his head a little shake, his dirty blonde curls brushing against his shoulders as he slightly narrowed his eyes. Like he was sizing her up, but her expression remained the same. She wouldn’t let him decide otherwise.
“Sappy,” He said at last, his lips curling into a little smirk, “So do you get to unwrap your present?” He asked huskily, eyes filling with lust as he turned his attention towards her. She bit her lip, feeling her desire filling her bones.
“Do you want me to?” She teased as she moved her fingers against the collar of his shirt. She liked the material, but she liked it off of him better. She glanced around, wondering if it would be too risky.
“Later,” He hummed as he moved his fingers underneath the hem of her gown, gripping at her flesh, “I need you badly.” He sighed as he wrapped his fingers around the hem of her panties. She bit her bottom lip, resting her palms on the counter and lifting her hips so he could remove her layers. He took his time, acting like he was unwrapping her this time.
“You have me,” She grinned as she pressed her forehead against his, “So take me. Preferably before anyone else wakes up.” She added softly, stifling a laugh at the way he rolled his eyes.
“I don’t remember you being so bossy,” He grumbled as he spread her legs, then pushed her closer to him. He locked his eyes on hers once again, a cocky expression on his features as he unbuckled his belt, “Or are you that needy?”
“I want you so badly,” She confirmed with a nod of her head, greedily drinking in the image of his fingers wrapped around his thick cock, “Please.” She begged softly, gasping as he pushed her gown over her hips.
He dropped his gaze to her cunt as he slowly drifted his fingers through her patch of red hair, then further down to her pink folds. She hissed as the cold from his fingers spread through her body, making her nipples harden against her gown.
“So slutty,” He remarked as he shifted his weight onto the front of his feet, slowly dragging his cock across her pussy, “Mhm, so nice and wet. I missed this pretty pussy.” He groaned as he continued to drag his tip across her clit, his precum smearing onto her skin.
“Billy,” She pleaded with him, fluttering her eyelashes in hopes that he would stop his teasing, “Please fuck me. I need you inside of me.” She whined as she held her fingers tightly together, feeling her pussy clamp down around nothing. She was desperate, needy to feel him inside of her.
He chewed on his bottom lip, watching her for a moment before he slid his fat tip against her slick hole. He groaned as he slowly slid himself inside, taking his time to bury himself inside of her. She forced her eyes open, made sure that she locked eyes with him as he sank his cock slowly into her soaked cunt.
She moaned at the feeling of her walls stretching around his thick girth, savoring each inch of him as he buried himself deep inside of her. She felt her eyes rolling into the back of her head, her lips parting at the feeling of being filled. It had been so long, too long.
“Fuck,” He groaned as he played with her clit, making her spasm as her cunt leaked around him, “You are a desperate whore, huh?” He teased, licking his teeth as he examined the way their bodies met. She continued to stare at him, admiring the way his lips parted and his eyebrows furrowed together. Pleasure filled his pretty features, sending sparks deep through her body. His bliss was enough to make her feel good.
She whimpered as he slowly thrust his cock inside of her, then slowly pulled out before he repeated the same manner. She felt the lust taking hold of her as she reached out and gripped his biceps, needing him to be as deep in her as possible.
“Just for you,” She moaned as she greedily rolled her hips, feeling the top of his cock graze across her bundle of nerves, “Please, please. I need you to fuck me.” She urged him, whimpering as she continued her soft movements. If they were in a better position she would just crawl on top of him, place her hands on his chest and bounce along the curve of his cock. But he liked to tease her, to make her deprived and frantic.
He squeezed her hips tightly, making her stay still as he began to ram his cock inside of her smooth pussy. She moaned, unable to keep herself quiet as the pleasure burned inside of her. Everything in her stung in awe, electricity burning like wildfire as she clawed at his shirt once again.
“You’re being such a bad girl,” He smirked as he gripped her hips, holding onto her tightly as he dragged his cock in and out of her slick cunt, “A slutty little bad girl.” He corrected, his voice husky as he whispered the words to hers. His face was dangerously close, his breath warm and minty as he hissed the sentence to her.
“No, no,” She whined, gaping as his cock hit her sensitive spot that was buried inside of her once again, “I’m good. I’m a good girl.” She nodded her head urgently, trying to convince him as best as possible. She gasped deeply, toes curling as the lust washed over her.
Her mind felt hazy, foggy as she looked at him once again. His eyes were dark, full of desire as he continued to snap his hips forward harder. She whined as she clawed him deeper, savoring the feeling of their bodies connecting. Deep, sensual. She felt it all.
“You sure?” He groaned as his nose brushed against hers, little gasps leaving his lips, “Do good girls do this?” His lips curled into a little smirk as he reached between her legs, rubbing at her swollen clit. She squealed in awe, trying to keep herself from crying out.
“Uh huh,” She giggled softly, whimpering as she rocked against him, “They take their brother’s cock so well. Feels so good.” She sighed, her body trembling as he continued to drag her across the length of his dick. She whimpered as the tip of his fat cock continually brushed against her bundle of nerves.
He grunted as his movements became more rough, frantic as he clawed at her hips. She chewed on her bottom lip as sweat collected against the nape of her neck. She moved her arm behind his shoulders, the edge of the counter digging into her flesh harshly as her cunt leaked around the girth of his dick.
“Such a good little sister for me,” He groaned as he buried his cock deeper inside of her, connecting them even further, “Taking your big brother's cock like a little whore.” He flicked his tongue out against her lips, licking away her moans as she felt her high building deep inside of her.
“I love your cock,” she whimpered as she dug her fingers deeper into the counter, making her hands ache as her clit throbbed in awe, “Don’t stop, please. I’m so close.” She spit out even rougher, her voice shaking from how intense the bliss filled her.
He moved his head closer to her, his nose dragging against hers softly before he dragged his mouth against hers. She moaned as her eyes fluttered shut, her lips stalling against his mouth as he continued to kiss and suck at her lips.
His lips were hot against hers, swallowing her moans as she shook around him. Her thighs trembled as he continued to drag his cock in and out of her cunt, the sound of their bodies meeting filling the room in a filthy manner.
She came roughly, her cunt clenching around his thick girth as her lungs burned from how intense her orgasm was. He licked and kissed away her moans, his groans vibrating across her lips as his thrusts became deeper and more intense.
“Fuck,” He groaned against her mouth as little squeaks left her lips, making her squeal and whine as he buried himself deeper inside of her, “Fuck, fuck. You feel so good, baby sister.” He grunted lower, his tone raspy as he dragged her even closer, sending another shock of pleasure through her body.
She knitted her fingers through his curls, dragging her lips across his mouth as he painted her walls white with his cum. She moaned at the feeling of his cock twitching inside of her, his fingers shaking against her skin as he held onto her. He dropped his head against her shoulder, panting as she began to kiss the top of his head.
“Billy,” She gasped, her chest rising and falling harshly, “You’re so good to me. I missed you.” She hummed as she licked the sweat away from his forehead, peppering softer kisses against his skin.
He raised his head slowly, soft waves rolling within the blue in his eyes as a fascinated look filled his features. He leaned closer, giving her lips a little kiss. She sighed at the feeling, her heart soaring from the feeling. Everything burned, was electric as he held onto her.
“I missed you too, Red,” He said with a smile, kissing the corner of her mouth, “You better like that gift too; I didn’t go shopping for nothing.” He smirked softly as he set her down, his hands holding onto her waist tightly as her thighs trembled. She was still weak, the waves of pleasure still crashing over her body.
“I’m sure I’ll love it.” She told him honestly, just glad that she had him back. She brushed her fingers across his cheek, holding onto his jaw softly as she admired him. He looked like he was straight out of a painting, all chiseled and golden. He was so handsome, so sweet to her.
“I liked my present,” He smirked as he dropped his hand, giving her as a firm squeeze, “Can’t wait to see what else I get.” He responded cockily as he moved his fingers across the band on her shoulders, snapping it against her skin. She giggled as she held onto him, knowing that she’d be stuck to him for the next few weeks. He would be stuck with her.

Von Lycaon, Hugo Vlad and Bangboo Butler
Ok so I finished the bangboos vs ethereals events completed everything and yes we do see Nicole and Lycaon dropping their respective bangboos Amillion and Butler to take the exams, and at the end of the very last exam when there's nothing else left, guess what interesting conversation I get with the coach?
You mean that hot vampire guy who was Lycaon's best friend *cough*boyfriend in my head*cough* and is now his enemy, that guy? His name is really Hugo then it's now confirmed in game, yes!
OMG DOES THAT MEANS HE'S COMING SOON CAN WE PLAY HIM I HAVE WANTED HIM SINCE SEEING HIM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN LYCAON'S AGENT STORY I AM SO INTERESTED IN HIM I SWEAR HE, HARUMASA AND BILLY ARE MY HOLY TRINITY!!!!
Guess we might not have to wait too long before he appears and hopefully we can play him later on~ He's so handsome, Hoyo knows my type very well~
The Mayflowers' heirloom? T.O.P.S confidential files? Seems like Hugo is busy.
You're talking about Butler Bangboo right? Wait does that mean Butler used to belong to both Hugo and Lycaon and when they parted ways Lycaon took Butler with him? And it says Hugo is it's parent? It almost sounds like child's custody over a bad divorce to me when put like that in context. XD Hugo and Lycaon are the Butler bangboo's parents now omg!! It sounds proud of itself and it's parent for being phantom thieves, guess Butler is still a criminal at heart unlike Lycaon, I wonder if it will try to meditate between the 2 if they meet up again.
Hugo being a bangboo coach and boy does his list of jobs keeps getting longer, bangboo coach, phantom thief, Mockingbird, Butler's parent, old friend of Lycaon, foe of Lycaon... my future third husband in this game after Billy and Harumasa I will have them as my harem.
So it looks like Butler still doesn't mind that Hugo is a phantom thief and not around, and still seems to like him funnily enough, but probably keeps it a secret from Lycaon?
Already happened buddy.
Ok so yeah this event seems to hint that we'll see Hugo soon possibly, if we're lucky it might be in chapter 7 or before... Anyway it seems to tease Hugo's arrival, I doubt they just said his name here just to never mention him again, they did link lots of past bad guys to the main plot, like the hacker at the beginning, the sacrifice, Lucius, Null_Face, maybe Hugo will be connected too. I wouldn't be surprised if Harumasa is also connected, the drug in his agent story was probably to make sacrifices and he probably almost became one since Kirishima did say he was supposed to die but his master didn't have the heart to kill him so who knows.
I'm so excited, can't wait to see Hugo in the flesh~

"DLMLU"
This is an imagine based on the song "DLMLU" by Stray Kids.
Pairing : Hyunjin x reader
Warning: Nothing much. Just angst all the way.
Enjoy!
-----
The sound of rain hitting the windows filled the room, an almost fitting backdrop to the tension thick in the air. You sat on the edge of the couch, your hands curled into fists against your knees as Hyunjin paced in front of you, his jaw tight and his eyes downcast. He was fighting something within himself, the conflict painted clearly across his face. The tension between the two of you had been building for days, and now, it had reached a breaking point.
“I told you not to come here,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper. It wasn’t anger—it was resignation, a kind of hopelessness that broke your heart. He wasn’t looking at you, his gaze fixed on the floor as if the weight of his own thoughts was too much to bear.
“I couldn’t stay away,” you whispered, the words slipping from your lips before you could stop them. “Not after everything we’ve been through.”
Hyunjin stopped pacing, his back still to you, his shoulders rising and falling with the weight of his breathing. “You should have,” he said after a moment. “You should have run the moment you realized what this is. This... us... it can’t happen.”
“What this is?” you echoed, standing up now, unable to hold back the frustration bubbling up. “Hyunjin, you can’t keep pushing me away and expect me not to care. I’m right here. I’m already—”
“Don’t say it,” he snapped, spinning around to face you. His eyes were dark, haunted, filled with a mix of longing and pain. “Don’t say it, because if you do…” His voice cracked, the vulnerability he never let show now spilling out like an open wound. “If you do, I won’t be able to let you go.”
Your breath hitched at his words, and for a moment, the only sound was the rain outside. He looked at you like he was torn in two, like every piece of him wanted you, but something inside him wouldn’t let him take the step forward.
“Why?” you asked quietly. “Why do you keep doing this? Why do you keep pretending like you don’t feel the same way?”
“Because I can’t love you the way you deserve,” he said, his voice breaking. “I’ll ruin you, Y/N. I’ll hurt you, even if I don’t mean to. I’ll let you down.”
Tears welled in your eyes, but you refused to look away from him. “You don’t get to decide that for me. I know who you are, Hyunjin. I know your demons, your fears, all of it. And I’m still here. You don’t have to do this alone.”
“That’s what makes it worse,” he said, stepping closer to you, his hand hovering near your cheek but never quite touching. “You’re too kind. Too good. And I’m... me. Broken and selfish enough to want you anyway.”
You swallowed hard, your heart pounding in your chest. You reached out, gently placing a hand on his arm, forcing him to give in. “Then stop fighting it. Stop pushing me away. Let me in.”
For a moment, you thought he might. His gaze softened, his hand trembling as it finally cupped your face, his thumb brushing against your cheek. You leaned into his touch, and he let out a shuddering breath, as if the weight of the world was resting on his shoulders.
But then he pulled back, his hand falling away when he took a step back. “No,” he said, his voice firm even as his eyes betrayed him. “I can’t. Don’t let me love you, Y/N. Don’t make me ruin you. I’ll destroy you and drag you down with me. I can’t let you fall into the mess that’s me.”
“I’m already falling, Hyunjin,” you confessed, your voice trembling with emotion. “I don’t care if it’s messy. I just want to be with you.”
His face softened for a moment, the guard he always wore slipping just enough for you to see the person he truly was underneath. But, it didn't last.
“Run,” he said coldly, his voice breaking as he turned away from you. “Run before I lose what little control I have left.”
You stood frozen, your heart shattering as you watched him retreat into himself, closing every door you had tried so hard to open. The pain in his eyes was mirrored in your own, but you knew this was his way of protecting you, no matter how much it hurt.
The rain outside blurred the city lights as you stood there, the air between you thick with unspoken words, but you knew deep down that you couldn’t walk away. You wouldn’t.
All you heard was his voice, a haunting echo of the words that cut deeper than anything else: “Don’t let me love you.”
But, call it naïve, you knew you could go through everything if it meant him finally letting his walls down and accepting you. You knew it wasn't going to be easy, and yet, you decided to stay.

"mikey way
"me and gerard, we're the best friends in the world"
Once again, we meet Mikey Way. But this time this guy talks soooooo much. Hi hi hi! Never thought Mikey could be this chatty!
Long coat and black jeans, that's the outfit worn by Mikey Way when he met W at the Malia Hotel, Thursday afternoon, January 31, 2008. Wow, he looked really neat. But when watching MCR's concert a few hours later, it turned out that Mikey was also wearing the same costume, he he he. It's very clear that his long coat and all-black jeans are not just a style but an important part of his identity.
Anyway… Mikey looked relaxed as he shook hands with W. As a small talk, W of course asked him what he thought about Jakarta. He answered honestly. "So far, great. But I haven't been here long. Only 12 hours, only half a day. So, you know." He said as he took a large white plastic cup of coffee from the table in front of him. His hands looked a little shaky.
Gosh, Mikey, the conversation has become so serious, huh, he he he. W reminds me that the name My Chemical Romance was taken from one of the books Mikey read when he was still working at Barnes & Noble bookstore, namely Ecstasy: Three Tales of Chemical Romance by Irvine Welsh. mentioned by Mikey, here. Wow, it seems so funny to imagine Mikey being a bookworm, huh? Apart from Gerard being the vocalist and frontman of My Chem, he is still Mikey's 'big brother'. So, let's just start asking about Gerard, shall we?
Mmm, maybe we can start with a question that's not too direct, huh…
What's the most annoying thing about Gerard?
"Him? There's nothing bad about him. Even if there's something annoying, it makes me love him even more. Ha ha. Even if there's something bad about him, it's endearing. Gera is a very talented and admirable individual."
What is the annoying side of you in Gerard's eyes?
"Me? Well, I don't know. Ha ha. Maybe you guys better ask Gerard directly, haha ha."
Have you two ever fought?
"We have. It's natural. But not too often. In a few years maybe."
Can you tell us a little bit about how you and Gerard are actually brothers? what kind?
"We're the best friends in the world. We always hang out together. We always talk. Especially when we're on tour, we always share a room in a hotel. only once we fought, ha ha ha. We barely fight."
Do you still have time to read a book?
"Yes, I still am. Right now I'm reading Needful Things by Stephen King. This is actually my second time reading it, he he he."
Wow, you really like horror stories, huh?
"Ha ha ha, yes. I like horror novels and also horror movies. Stephen King is a great horror writer. Many of his books are horror themed. I really like Stephen King."
From early on, it seemed like Gerard did most of the talking.
"I only talk when necessary. Not only me, Frank, Bob and Ray have also. But more often than not we have to take care of our own musical instruments, so we leave that responsibility to Gerard, he he he."
Totally agree, Mikey Unfortunately, Gerard isn't there, hu hu hu!
On stage, Gerard is the same. Have you ever joined in the conversation with the audience?
"Well, yes sure. I have."
Anyway, really happy to chat with you. Lately, MCR has been using piano players a lot at concerts, huh?
"We do everything like other big bands do."
Are there plans to make James Dewees a permanent member of MCR?
Oh, James. He's already become My Chem family member since ama. Even though he is not a member of MCR, he is our friend. We have also known him for a long time. Besides, we like the sound of our concert piano. So, we keep using it.
Why, the hell, is the sound of the piano so important to MCR?
"Piano is the basis for all music. Since we know a cool piano player like James Dewees, we might as well include him in the line-up. Unfortunately, James is currently at sound check, so he can't be here."
My Chem, that's how Mikey shortens the name My Chemical Romance. Frankly, W also knows nothing, he he he. When asked when My Chem (yikes, I'm following Mikey) will release a new album, Mikey said it would be around early or mid 2009. Wow, that's still quite a long time away, huh. When W asked about My Chem's three previous albums, this guy remained enthusiastic, cas cis cus.(?)
Tell us about the metamorphosis from the first to the third album…
"Sure sure"
Album: Bullets
"We were still very young. We were in our early 20s and we had only been in the band for about 10 months. Every song that was created at that time was indeed in accordance with our condition at that time. If you listen to it, you will definitely feel the nuances of My Chem now. The songs on the first album are like 'the younger brother of The Black Parade,
Is the creative process different?
"Let's see… The first album, / was really green, he he he. Gerard was also very young. We felt more spontaneous. The second album, Three Cheers… was more mature, more aggressive. The longer it went on, the clearer it became in The Black Parade. The difference was probably with the presence of Bob on drums. He is one of the phenomenal drummers. Many people say so. Because of Bob, The Black Parade seemed touching on many musical genres."
What if someone says that The Black Parade sounds smoother than previous albums?
"Technically, yes. The first album was made in the basement. The sound was rough. But eventually we had a bigger studio and had more time to prepare the material."

Fem!Bell AU crumbs
Since I am apparently physically incapable of writing full length stories, here's a little scene from my forced fem!Bell AU. (but I am almost done with the first chapter, thanks to @thehornierdog's threats encouragement. this scene is also kinda out of date because ive been editing it lol
TW: forced feminization, allusions to brainwashing, s/a.
thank you to the lovely cold war truthers discord for feeding my brainworms (esp @fleshqounds for the idea about Adler essentially making Bell a do-over of his failed marriage it has not left my brain since).
“I set out some clothes for you,” Adler gestured to the bed, where a yellow dress was folded neatly.
It seemed at least somewhat modern–no sleeves and with buttons all down the front. There were two pockets sewn to above both sides of the bodice. She couldn’t tell how long it was, but it didn’t seem terribly short. A thick brown leather belt sat atop it, coiled around the perimeter like a snake.
“Oh,” Bell replied after several minutes of silence. She didn’t move.
“What?”
“It’s just,” she shifted uncomfortably, “don’t you have any pants?”
“Why would you want pants? You’re a woman.”
Some muffled part of her psyche raged at the comment, but Bell just took a breath. “Park wears pants,” she pointed out.
Adler’s expression didn’t change. He explained as if he were talking to a child, “Park is a highly trained operative with years of experience.”
“And I’m not?”
Adler frowned, reaching forward with those warm, scarred hands of his to brush some hair out of her face. She wrangled away the illogical urge to flinch. He seemed to see it anyway. “Are you feeling okay?”
“What?”
“It’s just some fabric, you know. And you’ve never fought so hard about your clothes before.” If she didn’t know better, she’d say that Adler almost looked smug as he dangled the carrot of before in front of her face.
Bell squinted, tugging at haggard strands of memory, but they dissipated the moment she tried to focus on one of them.
it seemed absurd that she’d not put up a fight about having to wear girl-clothes before. But their memory was blank, and Adler looked so genuine.
Her shoulders dropped, and Adler straightened up, smiling. They both knew he’d won.
“Come on then, I wanna see how it fits.”
“Um…”
“What now, Bell?” He looked annoyed in that fond sort of way. Like all of her protesting was nothing more than some childish tantrum. “Is it because the door’s open?”
Bell cleared her throat. “Isn’t it inappropriate for you to just… watch me change?”
“Oh, don’t be like that. We hardly had the privacy to shit in ‘Nam. Ain’t nothing I haven’t seen before.” Adler rolled his eyes, and made a show of turning around to stare at the wall. “There. Is that better, princess?”
“Yes,” Bell said as the stab of guilt choked up her throat.
“Good. Get to it then.”
She complied, and did not point out the mirror on the very wall that he was staring at as she slipped the dirty fatigues off of her hips and let them fall to the floor.
—
“There,” he straightened her collar, hands lingering on Bell’s neck. She suppressed a shiver. “I have pretty good fashion taste, hm?”
This, at least, was more familiar territory. “I don’t know about good. Passable, more like.”
He tutted, “You’re so mean to me. Not very ladylike of you.”
A b̴̺̖̘̟̠͓̈́ȩ̷̨̹̻̤̻͓͔̱͆̔͛̕l̴͇̲̥̹͎̃͗͌͒͂̄̇͠ḷ̷̨̢̫̠͚̺̊̒͠ echoed in the distance, and a cold sweat began to cling to her hands. Adler dusted off her dress, and casually slipped a box of cigarettes into one of the breast pockets.
“So I have an excuse to talk to you,” he explained as he winked.
She thought that she felt him squeeze her chest, too, but it was hard to feel properly through the padding, and he was already stepping away before she could call him on it.
“Let’s get you to work then, Sandy.”
“Bell,” she interrupted. “My name is Bell. You know that.”
Adler hummed absently and continued to guide her out into the main part of the safehouse as if she’d never even spoken. She deflated, but didn't bother to pick a fight about it. She'd come to expect it from him, at this point.

I don't give clear spoilers from the S2 but read the next with precautions (I imply things but I prefer giving the warning. I hate spoilers so I try to avoid it to others even if with the S2 my brain was impatient XD).
------
Little AU (another after the swap comic XD) where they have met in childhood. They both share the same origin story but one day they just met randomly when Viktor played with his boat (probably just after meeting Singed because I drew an healthy Rio).
The timeline changed her direction to a long-time friendship where they shared every steps of their life. I drew Rio with them but infortunately she had the same fate (I swear I keep the main scenario because I didn't find how to save her. If I find something I'd change the description ! XD Maybe bringing her back with some Hextech magic, even if that implies she is white/gold if you know what I mean lol).
They did their studies together and created te Hexgems. The main difference : they've never created the unstable ones that destroyed the appartment (because Viktor was already here "to crank it") but they also never dared to talk about them. So when the group stole them they both ended up in trial for creating the Hexgems. But Mel saved them both and their part of the story is the same (except the fact that Viktor being put under the spotlight gave him a Councilor place too. He enjoyed that like an introvert in front of a full theatre xD).
For the Zaunist side, and because the Hexgems are stable, they didn't create the deadly huge explosion. Milo finished to free Vander, Claggor created the wall hole and everybody escaped. Even Powder who were already outside, she didn't fly with the explosion like in the original.
BUT
Silco took the Hexgems and started to create weapon with them + the Shimmer.
So yes, Jayce and Viktor are in trouble because they have to create the Hexgates and trying to keep peace. Luckily Victor is the one trying to find peace with Silco. And Vander helped a lot with a certain heartbreaking piece of paper (I'm still crying all the water I drunk in a week everytime I read it ! And !spoiler for the artbook! having the artbook with that letter in it is not helping ! XD)
And because I really love (in a painful, tearful, brain-eating, obsessive, and highly passionate way) what happened to my precious Vitya in the next season, I guess they found peace and gave independance to Zaun but a certain someone set the Council room in fire to start again the hatred (probably a dangerous woman in red who already prouved that she can plot horrible plans !). So Silco is alive but we still have the S2 (yes even the absolute horrific end of the episode 6. Seriously, even after knowing what/why/all the things and reasons, fuck you still, Jayce).
So this is how I fixed the utopic timeline of the episode 7 (not gonna lie guys but I was absolutly not a fan of this moment when I saw it for the first time. For me Arcane was "impossible to give me joy" "this is probably some kind of Arcane bad trip and they are in reality in some kind of deadly nightmare" "everything is fake", I was super suspicious so I did'nt enjoy it like I should have do xD But now I'm fine with that even if a lot of things are illogic, but it's still beautiful to enjoyer peace and love).
Anyway, more Jayvik incoming because they are the biggest brainroat I've ever had in my damn life. Viktor really set my mind in pieces and I don't recover from it. But I forgive him because it's Viktor <3
Merry Christmas even if it's the end of the day ! (almost 10pm here xD)

And finally, here is the other xmas oneshot I had prepared for this year :> something a bit more chill, I believe. Or so I hope that's the way it's interpreted hahaha don't take it too seriously, it's just you, naoya and your kids being silly 🤣
warnings: none too big. domestic fluff. there is a hint of you and naoya being somewhat nasty (as usual) and naomi curses the moment she became aware of her surroundings.
Happy reading!
It took you years to finally convince Naoya to do it. For him to go above and beyond what’s usually done during Christmas time.
But after your swaying, insisting, and borderline exhausting persuasion, Naoya finally decides to bite and dress up as Santa this year.
“Our babies are going to love it!” you gush, already imagining the type of adorable reaction they’ll have. “Thank you so much, honey.”
“They’re hardly babies anymore, my love. I doubt they’ll get excited.” Naoya says. But he can portray himself as indifferent all he wants, because deep within you know the truth: he too was thrilled to see his kid’s reactions. “But isn’t this going to happen during the night, though? When they’re asleep?”
You go silent.
“I guess so… but we can still do it! I read online that what parents do to keep the excitement going is leave a trail of hints implying Santa was here! You know, like the cookies with milk and such.”
“Do I still have to dress up?” he asks, you nod.
“Of course! You gotta do it at least once in their lives.” You smile, stepping on your toes to kiss him. Call it motivation. A preview of what’s to come if he goes through with your idea. “I have your costume ready too, so you can’t back out now.”
“Looks like I don’t have much of a choice anyways…”
“No, you don’t.” you giggle. “Now, if you excuse me… There are some cookies I need to bake if we want to make this even more realistic!”
“Are you sure that isn’t an excuse just to eat them yourself?” He teases.
“And what if it is?” you pout.
“Ah, no, nothing. No problem at all…” Naoya chuckles, and you know there’s so much more that he’s holding back on saying, but in favor of getting everything ready for Christmas night, which was just two days away, you let it pass.
Thankfully, your children remain as oblivious as ever, in both matters regarding their presents which were hidden away in one of the many rooms found around the estate until the very day, and your plan for Santa’s nightly visit.
Though they’ve been getting ideas of their own.
“Naomi-nee, come on! Let’s stay up to see Santa coming to our house!” Naori cheers, excitedly tugging at her arm—an accurate reflection of his and his sibling’s enthusiasm. “Please please pleaseeeeeeeeeeee.”
“It’s going to ruin the magic, little bro.” Naomi responds, barely lifting her gaze from the book she was reading. She already knew who Santa was, discovered the truth all by herself once upon a time after noticing the peculiar similarities between Santa’s handwriting and her mama’s.
Did it hurt her to uncover this mystery? Not really. If anything, it just made her job easier when asking for things—though a part of her can’t help but wonder if the mysticism surrounding Santa Claus might’ve been real a long time ago…
Either way, just because she knew the truth doesn’t mean she’d be the one to ruin the fantasy to her younger siblings. They’ll simply have to find out that on their own, if they ever…
“You have to be asleep for Santa to deliver your toys, or you won’t get any.”
“That’s not true.” Naoko pouted. “He gives toys to all kids who are good kids!”
“You probably don’t even notice because mom tucks you to bed early, you know? Besides, even if she didn’t, none of you would be able to stay up late anyways.” Naomi snickers, enjoying how easily provoked her baby siblings are.
“I can!” Naoyuki retorts. “I can stay up late!”
“No, you can’t.” Naomi smirks. “You three will fall asleep the moment it turns 10.”
“Wanna bet?” Naoko frowns.
“Mama will want you to do so, anyways.” The oldest reminds. “Neither she or dad like it when you guys stay up too late.”
“But it’s just going to be one night.” Naori persists. “But we’ll still do it! Whether you join us or not!!”
Naomi ultimately ends up conceding, but not because she was thrilled to see a man dressed up as Santa in the middle of the night at her home, but rather, because she didn’t want any of them getting into trouble, or danger, while you and Naoya weren’t there to intervene. Or more like weren’t supposed to be there…
So, after everyone supposedly goes to bed, Naomi, Naori, Naoko, and Naoyuki stealthily sneak out of the bedroom chambers and head towards the living room, where the Christmas tree was extravagantly set up with all kinds of colorful lights and ornaments Naomi swears they get bigger and more dramatical with each passing year.
Because she was the oldest, Naomi oversaw the effectiveness of this operation, as they’d innocently call it. She had some initial doubts regarding their compliance, they’re eager kids after all—but she’d soon find out that when it comes to working for the same goal, they were nothing but obedient, yet small, cute little soldiers that took all her words to heart and diligently executing their orders!
Might come useful for another occasion, but for now, she’ll be the reliable older sister they need.
“Wait, quiet.” Naomi suddenly says, placing her arm before her eager siblings and stopping them on their tracks.
“What is it Naomi-nee??” Naoko breathes, peeking over her arm. Naori doing the same with her, Naoyuki following suit, so on and so forth.
“What do you see?” Other asks.
“I hear… something.” She frowns, leaning closer and getting a clearer… picture.
“—you’re not thinking of keeping it like that, are you?” it’s you, she immediately discerns. And the lone thought of being caught by her mother is enough to send chills through her spine. More so since it’s clear that you’re setting up the gifts for tomorrow, naturally, no one is supposed to be there.
Certainly not to hear what followed.
“What? You don’t like it?” the other voice teases, muffled enough so Naomi couldn’t figure out who it was, but clear enough to know it was a man. “I thought you did.”
“When have I ever liked beards?” you tease back with a giggle, a gesture that denotes familiarity, uncomfortably so. Naomi frowns. “But I’m sure it would feel nice.”
The curse of understanding innuendos—Naomi scowls. She’s only glad that her siblings were too innocent to understand any better.
“Ah, is that so?”
“Well, you know me—I’m always looking for ways to make things more… interesting.”
“What a naughty wife you are.” The other responds. “I wonder what you’ll husband think of this.”
«Husband?! That means—» Naomi frets, tossing aside her embarrassment and quickly growing disturbed at the implications.
“Oh, but you’re not going to tell him, are you? I can be a very good girl when I need to.”
“I can’t believe you—unless you convince me.”
“I think I know exactly what to do.”
There’s only one person she could imagine you’d share those godawful interactions with. However, given the unmatching description of the other man, and unfamiliar voice…
Naomi could only imagine the worst.
The most absolute dreadful thing she now needed to protect her siblings from before it was too late.
“Naomi-nee…! It’s Santa!” Naoyuki exclaims, happy to see that his theory was right and yet to understand what Naomi was sadly interpreting. He was just a kid, after all. An innocent kid who just had to get overtly excited… “See? I told you! I told you Santa would come tonight! And with our gifts too!”
But he wasn’t just there to leave behind some gifts, eat cookies, drink milk, and leave through the same way he came in.
In fact, everyone would come to see what he was truly there for once you cheekily wrapped your arms around Santa’s shoulders, pulling him very close to you, and finally—
Kissing him.
Making each and every one of your children gasp, shaken to see that their mother’s kisses were no longer exclusively theirs or their fathers, but also a strange man’s whom they couldn’t help but feel resentful of soon afterwards—jealous, even, enough so for the shyest of the bunch to take a stand and get this whole fiasco done with!
“Why are you kissing mama?!” Naori cries, and though you were the one to initiate, he still heads straight for Santa’s arm and harshly pulls at it, as if trying to get this terrible man away from their innocent mom and defend his parent’s happiness. “Hey, I’m talking to you!!”
“Leave mama alone!” Naoko followed, alongside Naoyuki and Naomi, the latter being there to prevent her siblings from causing any more havoc, while the former placed his little hands on your back, tightly holding onto your clothes as he and his twin try to get you to safety. “Get away from her!”
“Wait, kids—!” you gasp, swiftly clinging onto Santa the moment one of your babies tugged at you a bit too roughly—his hands wrapped around your waist soon after to prevent any more damage, which far from helping his cause, just caused their anger to grow even stronger. “Stop it! I’m going to fall!”
“You’re hurting your mom, Nao—” Santa exclaims, but Naori quickly shuts him up.
“Shut up, ugly old man!” he breathes back. “We already have a papa, so get lost!!”
You and Naoya would’ve found it unbearably amusing if their antics weren’t alarmingly approaching the concerning; it was only a matter of time before one of them got too agitated and hurt themselves, thus, necessary to act now.
But thankfully, Naomi would be the voice of reason the moment she takes a better look at Santa’s familiar eyes, quickly realizing who it was underneath the silly costume and stopping her siblings from antagonizing their poor father any longer, who was being punished by the simple crime of getting a kiss from his own dear wife.
“Let me go, nee-san! We have to protect mama!” Naori cries as soon as he’s peeled from your side. “I won’t let him be our papa! We can’t”
“Well, I got something to say regarding that.” Naomi begins, but before she could say anything else, you and Naoya stop her, shaking your head and letting her know that you’d much rather take the fall than destroy the magic of Christmas. As if this hadn’t so already… “I—I mean—”
“He was only kissing me because that was my Christmas present!” You quickly come to the rescue, directing all their scrutinizing attention onto you. You just hoped they’d believe you. “This year the only thing I wanted was a kiss from papa, but since he’s going to be away for a few days… I decided to ask Santa to give it to me! Really! Nothing more, nothing less!”
Such is what you wished them to believe, because your prior heated exchange easily implied otherwise.
However, even if they were unaware of your inappropriate words, they still wouldn’t take the bait—and not because they still harbored anger towards Santa, but rather…
“Papa isn’t going to be here…?” Naoko laments, causing you to immediately regret your choice of words.
“But… he promised.” Naoyuki adds. “He said we were going to play together!”
“N—no, that’s not it… what I meant to say is—” you stammer. “It’s actually—”
“Your papa is going to be away for just a few moments, but only because he’s helping me with the presents.” Santa Claus interjects. Their cute, round angry eyes quickly snap into his direction—their disappointment is strong as ever, but they still give him the right to defend himself. “You see, I must travel around the world delivering gifts to every single kid. It sounds like a big job, and it is. However, if I consider there’s a child that has been incredibly well-behaved this year, I go out of my way to reward them even more.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to deliver the rest of your toys personally since I have a lot of work this time around, but thankfully, because your papa loves you all very much, he offered to help me! But he will still be there for you during Christmas, regardless of what happens.”
“Really? I don’t want another Christmas without papa…” Naori murmurs, Santa’s heart tightens a bit.
“I promise.”
Was it a bit too on the nose? A mouthful of an excuse that could easily be debunked upon further questioning?
Maybe. Yes.
But that didn’t seem to matter, in fact, everything stopped being relevant the moment Santa implied the existence of more gifts, as if the mountains of presents lined up around the Christmas tree weren’t enough, but most importantly, the presence of their beloved father after having gone through agonizing days of absence (all done with the intention of spending the holidays without the elders or HQ bothering him; yet they always manage somehow).
A prompt solution that gave way to another issue: now Naoya only had a few hours to get all the new gifts he promised before Christmas, though dealing with their disappointment was always an option…
To never consider.
Well, at least their kid’s innocence during the festivities was maintained, though their excitement regarding Santa dwindled a bit, growing skeptic whenever the enigmatic figure approached them and subsequently standing before you whenever he got too close—as if trying to protect you from being whisked away from them, ready to put their life on the line if need be!—or demanding their papa to do so as well, still yet to uncover who was the one underneath that itchy beard and uncomfortable red suit he immediately threw away after that night.
Their undying animosity towards the enigmatic man led to some awkward seasonal photoshoots too, alongside some unwanted meetings with other parents once their kids began an anti-Santa Claus propaganda at school... but you and Naoya knew it was only a matter of time before they outgrew their childish beliefs, and so, the two continued to enjoy their time together as a family.
Eventually looking back to these moments and remembering them as nothing but silly, and somewhat embarrassing to them, anecdotes when they finally know the truth—
Until Naohime came along, that is; surpassing all expectations in such way that no number of gifts or siblings would be able to help you out this time.
I think Naomi is technically around 18 at this point? So you can imagine how goofy all of this was lol either way, we can all see some of the traits they got from Naoya 🤣 their quickness to call Santa ugly and old, alongside their protectiveness over you 🥹❤️ they all love you, they really do. 🥺
Also, I love the fact that every one of your kids adores Naomi. She is the de facto cool older sister that is actually cool and not embarassing. I think. All siblings have that silly side to them, one way or the other...
As for Naohime... I guess we'll have to wait next year to see what happens with her 🥴 but I can give you a hint: it has to do with Naobito and his imprudent nature.
Anyways, thank you so much for reading this small piece of mind!! I had so much fun writing something inspired on that famous song we've all heard about by now 🤣 I just knew y/n wouldn't be able to go on another year without forcing Naoya into dressing up as Santa lol. It's tradition!!!!
Well, once again, thank you so much for your support; now take care and hope to see you soon!!!

Christmas kindness letter
To Remedyturtles AKA Remrose,
I’ve read a good chunk of your fics. Probably just about all of them. And what constantly amazes me is your way to just… draw me INTO the story and leave me literally unable to put it down. What’s especially funny about that is how you write a lot of Leo-centric things, and my favourite turtle is Donnie. Leo is my second favourite, though. But I didn’t think I’d ever be so captivated by the stories you tell about him, especially with how heavy with the angst they get.
The first longer fic of yours I read was Stare Directly at the Sun. Which I read in pretty much one sitting. I don’t even know why I clicked on it— considering, as I said, Donnie is my favorite, and I actually do not care for human AUs. Somehow, this one drew me in and locked me there. I loved it.
And Firefight? That took over my LIFE. I powered through it, literally spent HOURS just sitting on the couch reading it (and even reading it outside on a nice day). I joined while it was incomplete, and read what was there in only a few days. Then, I read every subsequent chapter as soon as I could. It was a legit highlight of my day, something I looked forward to, and I was hooked so bad like you wouldn’t believe. It was sad to see it end, but what a beautiful journey it WAS. I love love loved it, especially how long you took to focus on the healing of Leo and Donnie… they went through hell, indeed, and managed to come out the other side stronger. Even Leo, who scared the SHIT out of me for so long. But I’ll cut myself off, here. I could go on FOREVER about Firefight, you have no idea. I’ve been meaning to read this one again, actually. I need to.
The last fic I want to highlight, of yours, is actually one I don’t see talked about much: Take One For the Team. That one. That one. It was haunting. It was sickening./pos It was gripping. I could. not. put. it down. It was horrific to watch Leo go through that, to watch him deteriorate, and even though you didn’t detail his… extracurricular, I felt violated along with him, simply because of how he reacted to it, and how you wrote him processing (or failing to process) it. Slash pos. Seriously. This one. THIS ONE. I guess it isn’t talked about much because it’s a very sensitive topic, but if people can read it, they should. Holy shit, incredible.
I’m not sure what makes your writing so captivating. Maybe it’s how you write the characters. Maybe it’s your style. Maybe it’s both. Maybe it’s something else. I don’t know. But it’s easy to get lost in, and so easy to get attached, to CARE, and to feel along with these characters. Reading your stories is like sitting in the passenger’s seat of a friend’s car on a long road trip. You experience everything together, and, to me, it feels pretty damn special.
Anyways. I’ve prattled on enough. If you’ve got more gems planned, I’ll be happy to read them (in the meanwhile, I have on my list to read Little Kid With a Big Death Wish because I HAVE NOT READ THAT YET I have TOO MANY FICS TO READ/lh it’s on the list tho).
Have a very Merry Christmas!! :D

Su- what kind of flowers?
Chapter 11 of Bright Water by AstronomyAddict on ao3
Regulus lifted his glass towards James. “Shall we toast?”
James reached out and clinked his glass against Regulus’s. “To what?” he asked with a crooked smile.
“I don’t know yet,” Regulus said with a twinkle in his eye. “Perhaps to understanding each other a little better.”
James smiled back, still nervous, but oddly calm in his company. “Was that an invitation to get to know you better? I’ll take it that way, so okay, I have at least 100 questions for you. Where do I start?”
Regulus chuckled and took a sip of his wine. He fit in so well here; in a fancy restaurant with fine food. “Start with the easy questions, please.”
James thought carefully. He wanted to know so many different things, and he didn’t know where to begin. Regulus had said easy, so that’s what he would try.
“What change would you like to see in the world?” James asked eagerly, and Reg laughed again. “I said easy! That was not an easy question.”
James didn’t have to think long before he had an easier, yet not boring question. “What music do you listen to?”
“Classical.”
James nodded slowly. That actually made quite a bit of sense when he thought about it
“Do you play music then?”
“Yes, I play the piano, and I’ve been doing it since I was four,” James was lost for words. Could this man be any more attractive? “I also compose my own music.” Yes, he certainly could. Regulus played and composed music! James didn’t know what to say, but he realised that his silence was starting to stretch on too long.
"Wow, that's wonderful! We should do something together one day." He flashed a crooked smile at Regulus, still trying to take in the new information. He composed music? Of course he did!
"Next question!" Regulus ordered.
James massaged his temples in a thoughtful gesture, even though he already knew what to ask. He had so many questions and wanted to fire them all off at once—
"What's your favourite place to take a nap?"
"The floor."
"How often do you dance?"
"Never."
"Which workers have the worst job?"
"Nursery teachers."
"Favourite scent?"
"Cinnamon."
"Food?"
"Snails."
"Favourite flower?"
"Su—you're absolutely not getting that out of me!" Regulus glared across the table. James couldn't help but laugh. That glare was so adorable, filling every corner of his heart.
"Why won't you say it? I'll figure it out anyway. Whether I get it out of you, or I have to bring you different flowers every time we hang out, that's up to you."
Regulus glared even harder, leaning over the table toward James.
"Oh, is that what you think? I can tell you right now that—"
"Dinner's ready." Regulus was cut off by a short-haired woman who entered with two delicious-smelling plates. Regulus leaned back as she placed one plate in front of him and the other in front of James. She stood beside the table, looking expectantly at Regulus. He said nothing. With a small sigh, she left, and James couldn't help but laugh. Regulus had just brushed her off, which meant he wasn’t interested in her. James picked up his cutlery and began cutting into a potato. He had never been that keen on squid. It was a bit rubbery, and the taste was something he'd never quite gotten used to. He couldn’t understand why Regulus appreciated it. With his French background, it made sense that he was used to eating odd things—snails, frog legs, and yes, squid.
"So," James said after the silence had stretched on for a bit too long. He put his elbows on the table and leaned forward. "The favourite flower. I’m serious. I’ll figure it out, sooner or later."
Regulus slowly looked up from his plate, his eyes glinting with both irritation and amusement. "Are you seriously bringing up flowers right now? In the middle of dinner?"
James laughed and nodded. "Yeah, why not? Flowers are interesting! They say a lot about a person."
Regulus rolled his eyes and took a bite of his food, but James could see he wasn’t planning to answer immediately. Instead, he took his time, chewing slowly, as if weighing his next move.
"Alright, let’s say I give you my answer," Regulus finally said, his voice low and almost secretive. "What are you going to do with that information? Buy me flowers all the time?"
James blinked dramatically, pretending to think deeply about the question. "Maybe. Or maybe I’ll just use it against you every time I need to make you smile."
Regulus snorted and shook his head, but there was a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "You’re an idiot."
James laughed again and shrugged. "Maybe, but I’m your idiot."
There was a brief silence where Regulus just looked at him. "I don’t have a favourite flower," he said suddenly, but James could hear the doubt in his voice.
"I don’t believe you," James said. "Everyone has a favourite flower, even if they won’t admit it. But fine, I’ll figure it out. You won’t be able to hide it forever."
Regulus simply gave him a sceptical look but dropped the subject. Instead, he took a sip of his wine, as if he had won the battle—but James knew better. He had all the time in the world to crack Regulus’ shell. "Wait and see," he muttered to himself with a satisfied smile.

✩ read on ao3 ✩ janie’s masterlist ✩ library blog
Christmastime is here Happiness and cheer Fun for all that children call Their favourite time of yea—
You angrily jam the pad of your finger against the speaker’s power button, cutting off the quaint holiday music and plummeting Linda Drysdale’s normally busy real estate office into silence.
For someone who consistently prides themselves on being so sensible and logical, you sure can be stupid sometimes.
Because you drag a free office chair towards you, anchoring it against the wall as best as you can before climbing on top of it. You teeter precariously, cursing under your breath as you strain to loop a gaudy red and green garland over the push pins above the office doorway.
Linda, however, is even stupider, asking you to put up these god awful decorations before going home, not even providing you with so much as a step stool to do so—even though you obviously aren’t tall enough to reach on your own, even though she said you didn’t have to work overtime today (why, thank you Linda, considering it’s Christmas Eve and all), even though it was already 4:45 when she asked.
One phone call would be all it took to have OSHA crawling up her ass, but because you were only ever a badass in your own head, long after the conversation was over and there was no longer anything you could do about it, you just nodded meekly at your boss instead of telling her exactly where you thought she could shove her precious decorations.
Besides, she’d probably walk away with nothing more than a slap on her wrist anyway—if that.
“A bit to the left, Cindy Lou Who,” comes a voice, the low dulcet baritones that are the bane of your existence, like a persistent under-the-skin itch you can’t ever seem to scratch. You take a deep stabilizing breath upon hearing the nickname, a heat flaring in your cheeks that has nothing to do with the whiskey-spiked hot chocolates you’ve been secretly sipping all day.
You shoot him a withered glare over your shoulder. Ransom, the devil-spawn of your she-devil boss, is lounging lazily in your chair, leaning back with his arms casually linked over his abdomen as he observes your efforts to stay balanced and graceful.
Trust the smug little brat to show up tonight of all nights, when your patience is already wearing thin. No doubt he’s just here to piss you off before swanning over to the posh holiday party happening at his mother’s place tonight—one you’ve never been invited to despite all your years working for Linda, by the way—while you trudge home to a dark and empty studio apartment, with not even so much as a goldfish to welcome you back.
Ransom just smirks back at you through a mouthful of white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts, his hand already rummaging for another cookie from the package he’s stolen right out of the bottom drawer of your desk.
You release a huff of frustration.
There he sits, without a care in the world in his perfectly tailored wool coat and immaculately styled hair that somehow remains untouched by the howling winter wind outside, looking like he’s just stepped out of an issue of GQ.
He doesn’t deserve it, you lament, his coat already starting to pill at the undersides of the sleeves and his sweater probably just a tug at one loose strand away from unravelling completely.
Whoops. You almost fall off the chair for the fifth time since you started this ridiculous endeavour, trying to shake off the mental image of a very shirtless Ransom, tangled in a web of soft white yarn.
What? You can hate someone down to their grimy little bones and still think they’re hot.
Besides, the devil wouldn’t be the devil if he weren’t tempting, would he?
“A real piece of work… the both of you…” you mutter to yourself now, your colourful vocabulary back in full working order now that Linda is holed away in her office and well out of earshot. “She could cut me some slack, you know… Christmas, for crying out loud… and I haven’t eaten all day!”
The asshole nepo-baby just peers up at you past the phone he’s been holding up in front of his face, blinking lazily and not offering any kind of response or assistance—not that you’d expected him to.
“Right, I forgot who I was talking to,” you speak slowly and deliberately, like you’re explaining something rather complicated to a small child. “You see, us humans need to eat food regularly for sustenance.”
“Wow,” Ransom deadpans, his voice muffled through cookie crumbs.
“Yeah, it is terribly inconvenient,” you shrug exaggeratedly, “but not all of us can subsist on the shards of broken souls and children’s nightmares, can we?”
“Calling me the devil again?” He scoffs, rolling his eyes. “You’re so original; how about you get a new thing?”
“Don’t you have some place to be?” You sneer, your grip tightening on the garland, the plastic biting into your palms as you twist a string of fairy lights around the rest of it. “Why the fuck are you even here?”
It’s a perfectly valid question. Linda is always threatening to cut her son off, but that hasn’t prevented him from skipping out on work as much as possible and galavanting around the city, maxing out her credit cards every chance he gets.
But you know she’ll never actually follow through; He shows himself here just often enough to keep her from seriously considering it, doing his small part to show off a carefully crafted picture for the masses—showing the scions of Boston’s wealthiest family in a united front.
And if there’s one thing Ransom likes more than he hates his family or earning an honest wage, it’s the weight of green lining the deep but frayed pockets of his expensive designer pants.
That shiny Drysdale veneer is all that matters, after all, and you know very well that Ransom’s only real job is to keep it nice and polished. But you’ve been working long enough at this soul-sucking place to notice the telltale signs, to see the cracks beneath the varnish.
The way you swear you see a flicker of something that looks a lot like dread whenever Linda calls his name.
The way his signature smirk twitches with just a hint of irritation whenever some angry coworker, once again passed over for a long overdue promotion in favour of giving Ransom a hefty allowance bonus, calls him a talentless, hopeless, literal son of a bitch.
The way he cracks those self-deprecating jokes about how the only real ambition he has in life is finding new ways to disappoint his relatives, and squander as much of the family fortune as he possibly can.
It’s no surprise, really, that Ransom’s turned out the way he has. You’ve heard the way they all talk about him sometimes, his family seemingly oblivious to your working-class existence.
Never mind the fact that whenever you happen to glance over at him, Ransom’s eyes are almost always on you—watching and assessing with that same inscrutable expression on his face.
Not that you pay close attention or anything.
Not that you care, either.
And never will you admit that it unnerves the hell out of you, almost like he’s trying to see through you—right down to the restless person who hides beneath a false bravado, a sarcastic sense of humour, and mountains of paperwork piled up high on your desk.
The feeling of being seen, so terrible and stirring at the same time.
And yet, you shiver, there’s something about it that rivets you. Something electric, like a live wire running just beneath your skin. It’s the feeling you get when he looks at you with those icy blue eyes, his expression going from scathing to almost inquisitive within seconds, when the two of you are trading jabs and insults like his mother isn’t the one who signs your paycheques.
If you are carbon, then he’s the igniting flame.
But you know better, don’t you? Ransom is trouble, plain and simple—the kind with zero direction in life, the kind with a new girl on his arm every week, leaving them to wake up in the mornings to cold bed sheets and memories of promises he’d never intended to keep.
You will die a fiery death before you come another notch on his bedpost. Not that you even care whether he thinks of you that way at all, because even the idea of doing that with Ransom is—
Shit. You shiver again.
You’re playing with fire by even thinking about him at all, even though you feel the incredibly annoying pull of his presence like a magnet, even though you know you need to stay as far away from him as possible, and even though you are very keenly aware that there’s something here.
It looms large yet goes unacknowledged whenever your eyes lock, when he’s looking at you like he wants to bury you and devour you at the same time, when you’re itching with the knowledge that you’re only keeping him at as much of a distance as you can physically stand.
Why else haven’t you told him yet, in no uncertain terms, to fuck right off?
Because there’s a part of you that can’t help but wonder what it would be like to let yourself burn—to feel the heat of that passion you can see in his eyes that he never seems to give into, to feel whatever warmth he might muster from beneath the complicated layers of that thing beating in his chest, to feel him next to you as that terrible something you won’t ever name finally erupts and consumes everything in its path.
Ugh. You absolutely loathe yourself for it, and it makes you want to bash your forehead repeatedly against the wall.
“Someone’s going on the naughty list,” Ransom snickers, the sound infuriatingly close now. You do your best not to startle at the new proximity; he’s put his phone away, unfolded himself from your chair with that unexpectedly languid grace, crossing the room to toss your now empty package of cookies into the trash. “And is that any way to speak to a valued coworker?”
“You? Valued? Coworker?”
“Oh, don’t be jealous, Cindy Lou,” he chides, leaning against the edge of an empty desk barely a step away, crossing his arms over his broad chest, then lowering his voice to whisper conspiratorially, “I hear it’s a sin.”
“Jealous?” You laugh humourlessly, snorting in a way that is decidedly very unladylike. “Of what? The fact that you’ve never worked a day in your life and have the soft white hands of a geisha?”
“Oh yeah? Been thinking about my hands a lot, have you?” He smirks again, and you bite back an exasperated moan—er, groan.
“Namely,” you say sarcastically, turning away from him and reaching up for a particularly high spot. “Breaking all the feeble little bones in your tiny rat-like claws, preferably with a nice sturdy lump of coal.”
“I’m not the one who’s gone on a rampage,” Ransom gestures to the office, now adorned with shiny little baubles, bundles of sparkly tinsel, and rolls of satin ribbon, “and vandalized the office.”
“Vandal—it looks festive, you heartless ghoul!” You whip around to glare at him again, momentarily forgetting your unstable position. But instead of rolling away from the wall and taking you with it, the chair beneath you stays firmly in place. Confused, you glance down to see Ransom’s outstretched feet casually braced against the legs.
Your head snaps up so quickly you think you might get whiplash, eyes narrowing accusatorially only to see him looking away, feigning nonchalance despite the fact that his ears are turning red.
Blood rushes to your cheeks, a traitorous warmth spreading through them. You curse mentally for the umpteenth time, feeling the corners of your perfidious mouth threatening to curve up into a smile.
The bar really is in hell, isn’t it?
“You…” you squeak, clearing your throat a few times to get your voice back to normal. “It’s five. You should go get your mother now.”
“Why, am I distracting you?” Ransom replies, tucking his hands into his pockets and still not making eye contact. “And don’t rush me. I’d rather eat glass than sit through another one of Linda’s fuckin’ Christmas parties.”
“Right, because of your repellant personality?” You quip only half-sarcastically.
“So I’m told,” he drawls, but strangely he sounds more pleased than offended by your observation. “But then again, you’re no picnic either, are you Cindy?”
“Excuse me?” You finally climb off the chair, the last of the garland securely in place. You ignore those stupid feelings stirring inside you at the sight of him retracting his legs a second too slow, and only when both your feet are firmly on the floor.
“You can’t tell me you work so hard because you like your job,” he chortles, his smirk twisting into something just a tiny bit meaner this time. “Aw, sweetheart, do you not have any friends?”
You snort so loud it almost hurts, trying not to focus on just how much you and Ransom have in common—a fact he also seems content to leave unaddressed. “Oh, like you do?”
The mental image of Ransom sitting in his mother’s living room, laughing and sharing wine with a bunch of people in front of a roaring fire like he isn’t a raging sociopath makes you shudder.
“Although, I guess I am curious,” you relent with an inquisitive tilt of your head, ignoring the weight of his heavy gaze on your back as you rummage through the last of the decorations.
“Hm, do tell,” you hear him chuckle.
“About Christmas, you bumbling idiot,” you retort, rolling your eyes. “Can’t picture you and Linda decorating a tree or opening presents together.”
“Okay, that’s not even funny,” he grumbles, his expression twisting into something sour.
“Never? Not even when you were a kid?” You ask before you can stop yourself. Dangerous territory. You know too much about his personal life as it is, and this would only humanize him and that’s the very last thing you want.
“Sometimes,” he admits after a few seconds of agonizing silence, his voice uncharacteristically quiet, your eyes meeting, as always, when you look up at him. “Only ever at Harlan’s.”
You stare, unsure what to do with the underlying hint of something in his voice that doesn’t really belong. Harlan is the only person in his family you actually like, who exudes warmth and care even towards a spoiled and ungrateful grandson, and it takes you a moment to realize that the thing in Ransom’s voice might be affection.
It’s alien and unnerving, to say the least, but you still feel a traitorous tug at your heart strings.
“I can’t picture you as a kid,” you say, somehow managing to keep your voice from trembling as you quickly change the subject. Sweet Christmases with his adoring grandpa shouldn’t be something you associate with this overgrown man-child. And even if it is, it doesn’t change the fact that Ransom is a giant, gaping asshole. “I just see you, but… smaller.”
“And I bet you were just a naive little princess,” he smirks when you glare at him, “doting parents, thoughtful presents, cookies for Santa—spoiled in your own way.”
“Oh, don’t get it twisted,” you shake your head, putting up a defensive hand, “we aren’t sharing. That’s not what this is.”
“But you know what they say, Cindy,” he says as he leans in closer, stopping just inches away, so close you can smell the lingering scent of cinnamon and nutmeg on his breath, mingling with the saccharine aroma of peppermint and artificial pine clinging to his sweater. “Sharing is caring.”
His eyes blaze in an unspoken challenge, but before you can do anything else, like maybe start thinking that the bad idea that’s been plaguing you ever since you met this infernal man isn’t such a bad idea after all, the sound of Linda’s voice cuts through the air, as sharp as the diamonds she wears on her fingers.
“What are you two doing?”
The spell is broken, and Ransom looks away with that same infuriating smile that makes you both want to punch and ki—
“Hello, Mother,” Ransom all but sneers.
You step away with considerable effort, wringing your hands in front of you. Linda narrows her eyes in thinly-veiled suspicion, but doesn’t say anything as she begins walking towards you.
Ransom steps in front of you, shoving his hands into his pockets and jingling his keys, “We’d better get going. Your chariot awaits.”
“Have a nice evening, Mrs. Drysdale,” you pipe up, watching nervously as her eyes sweep across the office and your carefully placed decorations with cool indifference. She nods slightly and you breathe a sigh of relief; that’s as close to a thank you as you’ll ever get.
“Ransom, be a dear and go start the car,” Linda says, urging him towards the door with a sweep of her hand. Her son hesitates for only a millisecond, not even looking back as he turns on his heels and leaves.
Only you notice that his hands are clenched at his sides.
“Merry Christmas, dear,” she smiles tightly as she hands you an envelope likely containing your holiday bonus, and you snap back to attention. You take it from her with a quiet thank you, but then her smile quickly turns into a stern frown. “But don’t make a habit of having food delivered here.”
“Food?” You repeat, your brows coming together in confusion. Linda puts on her fur coat, pointing a single gloved finger at the doors. There is a delivery person standing on the other side of the glass, lifting and pointing at a plastic bag heavy with takeout containers.
“Air the place out before you leave,” Linda says as she breezes past him, not even turning back while she lifts a hand in dismissal.
Confused, you follow in her tracks, staring after her as she makes a dissatisfied face at Ransom’s car pulled right up next to the curb. You see him roll his eyes, leaning over to unlock and push the door open for her. Linda doesn’t look too thrilled, but steps in anyway. They drive away, a hint of a smile on Ransom’s face even though it looks like Linda’s already started in on him with her usual longwinded lectures.
You tell the delivery boy you didn’t order anything, but he looks just as puzzled. He checks the receipt and says your name, the office address, which you confirm are correct. He then recites the order: scallion pancakes, rice noodle rolls, steamed crystal dumplings, and a small black sesame latte—your standing order from your favourite restaurant in Chinatown, reserved for nights when you were working late.
“It’s already paid for,” he says, “you might as well take it.”
You do, locking the doors once he leaves and set the bag down onto a nearby desk. Before you’ve even untied it and opened the containers to check their contents, the grin that’s been brewing all night finally breaks free.
Because there’s only a handful of people in the world who know you’re here at the moment, but only one who knows you haven’t eaten yet today, and who knows that despite having permission to leave for the night, you’ll probably settle in for another few hours of tedious paperwork.
Still, you finish every last crumb of your dinner feeling lighter than you have all week.
Maybe you’ll ask him next time, despite all the reasons you probably shouldn’t, whatever happened to sharing is caring?—even if it sounds like an invitation.
And maybe you feel cheeky enough to send him a quick email before logging off, cackling to yourself when he finally fires back a scathing reply a few hours later, likely still sitting in a room full of people just like his mother, trying not to be absolutely miserable.

And if, when you’re finally home long after the midnight hour, you’re tucked into bed feeling full and warm with the temptation to raise your lips into a smile as you drift off to sleep?
Well.
That’s really nobody’s business but your own, is it?
