A goofy one today! We had a piece go up today about The Sims' influence on Dragon Age so I made this banner art of a bunch of fun mashups between the two games. I'm a big Sims fan as well so I had a great time brainstorming this one and then sliding into a coworkers Slack DMs being like, "So what if it was Manfred and Bonehilda and they're friends?".

Honorable mentions to the other friends in this including: Emmrich and Grim (who I guess is kind of a necromancer), Taash and Marcus Flex who both have a maxed out fitness skill, a Cowplant and a big ole dragon, and of course, our resident hero Rook and the almighty Plumbob.

Emmrich Volkarin finds you trailing fingertips along the spines of old books filling his massive, overflowing shelves. It wasn't a surprise, really, not when the world had grown quiet, granting you all a moment of well craved respite in a life grown oh, so chaotic in such a short amount of time.

He sees you pause, lean closer to inspect a title. You linger on it for a moment longer and, before you're able to move past it to another volume, Emmrich moves with quiet, sweeping steps that end once he's behind you. He relishes your moment of surprise as arms slide around your waist, pulling you backwards ever so gently. Instead of perusing his collection for another book to steal, you're now, quite comfortably, nestled in a trap of his own making.

The little laugh falling through your lips stirs something warm in his chest, the shadows of the room cowering farther into their corners when faced with the brightness of your spirit. It's one of his favorite things about you. How you're your own sun, even when you feel dark like the new moon. He smiles, presses a soft kiss to your crown.

Hello to you too. The words are quiet, once your laughter subsides. It takes only a breath for your body to relax in his arms, leaning back to return his kiss in kind. The softness of your lips along his jawline has him relaxing into you, just not enough to let you fall.

"I knew I'd find you here," he hums. "You weren't otherwise occupying your favorite nooks around our dear Lighthouse."

"Oh please," you correct. Your voice has taken on such a tender quality, something ardent and adoring you seem to save only for the safest moments. The sweetest ones. Ones when the quiet settles in and takes hold among the madness grasping at the fabric of your upended lives. "I never want to be anywhere other than with you."

The admission knocks him off kilter for a moment. Then another. He's silent, holding you close as it sinks in and fuses loving and languid among the marrow of his bones. As the implication settles deep among his lifeblood, flowing smooth and free among his veins. It's fitting, almost, since he had not yet dare admit his heart had begun beating for you, in these last months.

Finally, Emmrich thinks, heart warm and beating softly against your spine. Perhaps he's found a home with you after all - his paramour, his darling, his Rook.
