Retelling Tales (Katrina Gorry x Reader)

Part 2 of Telling Tales
âHarper, we have to goâ you moaned, shouting up the stairs to where the toddler was still in her bedroom. Sheâd informed you that she could get ready alone this morning and youâd begrudgingly agreed, despite Katrinaâs clear instructions that you had to help her. You gave it another 30 seconds before you jogged upstairs and swung the bedroom door open. âHarpsâ you sighed, taking in the scene before you.
âWhat?â She frowned back, giving you an equally stern look, almost matching the one that you were giving her. Katrina thought it was cute that she was picking up on your mannerisms, but that frown she had inherited was awful.
âYou told me I could trust youâ you whispered back, almost like Katrina was in earshot and could hear this conversation. âYou cannot go to your mumâs match wearing my jersey. And Win does not like when you put a tiara and necklaces on herâ you mumbled, going towards the dog who was sat completely still, covered in jewellery. You took all the jewels and necklaces off of the dog before giving her a gentle pat to thank her for being patient. She took off like a light, now managing to escape from the room.
âBut I like your jersey. Look it has my nameâ she patted on her back to where it had the name Harper with your number.
âYou can wear that tomorrow when you come and see me, but when we go to see mum you need to wear her jerseyâ you explained.
âBut youâre my mummy too!â Harper shouted, pouting as she ran into your legs and gripped them with all her might. Youâre not sure why Harper did these things when Katrina wasnât around. The first time sheâd told you she loved you was in front of Charli and now sheâd just called you her mum in front of nobody.
âPleaseâ you stuttered, still a bit taken aback. âJust wear this for me today, and I will buy you whatever you wantâ you pleaded.
âOkayâ Harper instantly agreed as you sighed in relief. âI want ice creamâ she demanded, ripping your jersey off and throwing it at you, before wiggling into a West Ham jersey.
âWell, you can have ice cream after you-â
âYou said whatever I wantedâ Harper reminded you, also reminding you to stop being so matter-of-fact with this kid.
âFine, ice creamâ you huffed. âCome onâ you nodded towards the door.
âWaitâ Harper pouted. âCarry meâ the toddler demanded, making grabby hands as you hunkered down for her to climb into your arms. You carefully walked downstairs, locking up the house, still clutching to Harper and only letting go when you got her into her car seat. Harper had her own car seat in your car now, that you bought, without anybody telling you to.
âCan you buckle your belt or do you need help?â You asked.
âI can do itâ Harper nodded. âWatchâ she added, showing you how she could do it herself.
âGood jobâ you smiled, sticking your fist out for her to knock her fist off.
âI meant all the ice cream, did you know that?â
âI guessedâ you chuckled. âIf you promise you can be super speedy we can stop on the wayâ you said as the toddler squealed and clapped her hands.
She kept to her promise and was very fast in picking out her ice cream at the shop and running back to the car to get ready for the match. You yourself grabbed a secret ice cream to munch on the drive and told the toddler if she told anybody you did, the entire deal was off.
You pulled up at the game, going towards the friends and family section, the toddler clung tight to your arms. People often stopped to ask you for signatures or photos, and often would ask Harper to sign things too. Katrina didnât mind people asking Harper to do that, fully embracing her daughterâs Instagram and TikTok fame. You however, were always a little bit protective of your daugh- your girlfriendâs daughter, and didnât really like other people talking to her.
âThere she isâ Katrina smiled, as Harper went running towards the barrier. âHi, loveâ she added, leaning over the barrier to kiss you quickly.
âHi darlinââ you chirped back. âSorry weâre lateâ
âWas she okay this morning?â Katrina asked.
âMummy wouldnât let me wear her jerseyâ Harper explained very casually while Katrina watched you freeze.
âWhen did this start?â Katrina whispered, placing her hand over your one that was clutching the railing.
âEarlier, over the jerseyâ you mumbled back.
âMummy, can we get ice cream now too?â Harper asked.
âToo?â Katrina smirked. âDo you mean to tell me that youâve already given her ice cream at 11am?â
âMummy had one tooâ Harper giggled.
âHarper! You promisedâ you sighed.
âYou have a match in the morningâ Katrina raised her eyebrows, poking your nose as you chuckled and brushed her off.
âKyraâ Harper screamed, spotting her older sister coming into the stands and taking off on a sprint towards her. Youâd tried to move off and run after her, but Katrina put her hand over yours to stop you. She saw Steph scoop Harper up in her arms and knew she was safe up there.
âAre you okay with- I can get her to stop calling you thatâ Katrina whispered as your eyes met.
âAs long as youâre comfortable with it? I mean, Iâm fine with it. Wait - maybe fine isnât the right word? Iâm happy with it. I like it- I-â
âY/nâ Katrina cupped your face, a soft smile plastered on her face.
âIt makes me happyâ you breathed out, feeling Katrina squeeze your cheeks. âGo, Iâll talk to you afterâ you said, noticing her coaches starting to come onto the pitch to start the warm up.
âI love youâ Katrina said, kissing your cheek.
âI love you too, good luckâ you smiled, squeezing her hand before she ran off and you jogged up to your seats. Kyra and Harper had gone off, but Steph, Beth, Caitlin and Katie were all sat up talking in your row of seats. âWhereâs Harper?â You frowned.
âSheâs gone with Kyra to get ice cream. Apparently they have some kind of dealâ Steph chuckled. You needed to stop making deals with people that are smarter than you, and clearly that meant your 5 year old child.
âDonât worry, we didnât let your kid go missinâ in the thirty seconds it took for ye to come upâ Katie laughed as you scowled at her.
âIs everything okay? You and Katrina seemed to be having a serious conversationâ Steph whispered, tugging you closer to her.
âUh, well-â
âMummy look, Kyra got me ice creamâ Harper giggled, jumping into your lap and offering you some of her cone to which you politely declined.
âMummy?â repeated in unison by all of your teammates that were sat with you, except Steph.
âSheâs started calling you-â Steph was welling up, little Harper in your lap and openly calling you her mum, and you seemed happy.
âYeahâ you nodded. âThatâs what we were talking aboutâ you said, answering Stephâs question to what you and Katrina were so caught up chatting about.
âIt was bound to happen once you moved inâ Steph smiled, patting your forehead almost like she was trying to tell you she was proud of you. âKatrinaâs okay with it?â
âYeahâ you smiled. âIt seems to make the three of us happyâ you said, squeezing Harperâs shoulders.
âHi Monkeyâ Steph giggled as she tickled the toddlerâs chin, very quickly realising it was covered in ice cream and grabbing a napkin to wipe it off. âDid you get ready all by yourself this morning?â Steph asked.
âI did! But then mummy said I couldnât wear her jersey and I had to wear mumâs oneâ Harper explained as Stephâs heart melted. âLook!â Harper pointed, bouncing up and down as you looked over to where the teams were walking out of the tunnel.
âBig cheer for mumâ you chuckled as she started roaring so loud that Katrina could hear her.
âIâm so happy for youâ Steph smiled, squeezing your arm and making sure to take an endless stream of photos for Katrina.
When the match ended, you drove the three of you home, stopping to pick up something for dinner, and of course, ice cream, on the way. After dinner, you put Harper to bed, vowing to Katrina that youâd be back down in about 15 minutes. When 30 minutes had passed, Katrina knew where sheâd find you, which was passed out next to the toddler with a book either still in your hands or open, lying against your chest. Usually, Katrina left you there, knowing you were capable of getting a full nights sleep in the little princess bed, with the only downside being a bit of a sore back. But she never left you the night before you had a match, you needed a proper sleep in a proper bed.
âY/nâ Katrina whispered, rocking you awake gently and giving you a few seconds to adjust. âComing to bed?â She asked, while you nodded, wiggling out of Harperâs hold on you and squeezing her little hand as Katrina planted a kiss on her forehead.
âWe should really get one of those princess beds in here, theyâre comfortableâ you mumbled sarcastically as Katrina shook her head at you, before gently pressing a kiss to your lips. Katrina had so much she wanted to say to you, about the new name Harper had given you, how easily youâd settled into parenthood since you started dating a year ago, but she could see you were exhausted.
âNight, my loveâ she cooed, kissing your forehead much like she kissed Harperâs a few minutes ago. When you didnât reply, Katrina realised you were already gone straight back asleep.
-
You woke the next morning to an empty bed, the smell of cooking coming from downstairs and the sound of laughter which instantly put a smile on your face. You shuffled straight out of bed and headed downstairs, where you found the pair and Win all making pancakes in the kitchen, with Win eating everything Harper was dropping on the floor.
âMorning ladiesâ you chirped, catching Harperâs attention as she bolted for you to pick her up. âAre they for me?â You asked in a teasing tone, walking over towards where Katrina was standing at the stove, making pancakes.
âMorningâ she whispered back, pressing a kiss to your lips as Harper gagged before going back to your previous question.
âNoâ she frowned, almost like she thought you were being serious. âYou have to go to football todayâ she added.
âOh, silly me! I forgotâ you playfully sighed. âIâm just going to go and get readyâ you said, kissing the toddlerâs cheek before placing her back on the ground and heading back off up the stairs with Win following up after you.
It never took you too long on match day to get ready. It was a home game, so you were driving to the game, collecting Kyra, Steph and Beth on the way. And Charli was going to collect Harper and Katrina. Steph sat in the front while Beth and Kyra got into the back.
âWould you not have taken the car seat out?â Kyra moaned, squished between the seat and Beth.
âWould you rather walk?â You huffed. âHarper will be driving home with me later and it needs to be in the car for herâ you explained.
âY/n is in full mummy modeâ Steph chirped, squeezing your cheek so hard you had to slap her hand away.
âShe was my mum first!â Kyra proclaimed from the back seat, kicking the back of your chair in the process.
âKyra Lillee Cooney-Crossâ you bluntly announced, threatening to pull the car to a complete stop until the little Australian rambled on that she was sorry. Kyra was the most difficult of all three of your children. Charli was a dream and Harper was the funniest.
You were playing at the Emirates today, so unfortunately, the dynamic would be a bit different than it was yesterday at Katrinaâs match. You couldnât see either of them until the end of the match, or, so you thought.
Since becoming your adopted child, you usually partnered with Kyra during the warm-up, which every Arsenal fan and player found adorable. Today, however, Caitlin had nabbed her just as you got on the pitch, and Katie subsequently grabbed you.
âCome onâ Katie huffed, dragging your taller frame over towards the corner as you booted a ball in that direction.
âYou and Caitlin fighting or something?â You asked.
âNo, noâ Katie shook her head. âShe just needed to talk to Kyra about somethinâ so I said Iâd go with yeâ Katie mumbled.
âOh thatâs nice of youâ you teased her back. You and Katie had made up quite quickly after the argument in the restaurant all that time ago now. Sheâd practically gotten down on her hands and knees and begged you to forgive her, which Katrina found hilarious.
The team went through the warm up before they jogged back into the tunnel. You stayed out on the pitch for a brief moment to scan the stadium before you spotted Katrina, and gave her a quick smile and a wave. Harper or Charli werenât there with her, so you made the safe assumption that your other adopted daughter had also lost an ice cream bet. You were a bit behind everyone else when you got into the changing room to get ready.
âWill ye hurry up?â Katie moaned, watching you change into your match kit.
âWhatâs with the rush?â You frowned.
âYouâre gonna delay us allâ she bit back, leaving you to just fix your jersey and huff at your much smaller friend. She practically dragged you out the door, going on about the importance of being on time as all you could do was roll your eyes at her.
âLadies with your mascots pleaseâ a man in a suit shouted as both teams stood and waited for the little kids to be brought out.
âHave a surprise for yeâ Katie mumbled. âThatâs why I was rushinâ yeâ she added, a smirk plastered on her face as you heard the familiar sound of footsteps and the little voice roaring at you as it came down the hall.
âMummyâ Harper yelled, as all eyes went from her to you while you hunkered down to be eye to eye with her.
âNo wayâ Leah mouthed towards Steph, who just nodded back at her.
âHow did you get here?â You chuckled, squeezing her sides as her hands met your face.
âAuntie Katie told me I could come to the tunnel todayâ she giggled, accepting the fist bump that Katie had sneakily asked for.
âIâm so glad youâre hereâ you whispered. âDo you want to come up or would you like to walk?â You asked.
âUpâ she nodded, sticking her arms out as you picked her up with ease. âShoulders?â
âWhen we get outside, otherwise you might bang your headâ you motioned towards the low ceiling above you.
âI never thought Iâd see this day, Y/n as a mumâ Leah choked, placing her hand on your shoulder, before greeting your little toddler.
âItâs so preciousâ someone else in the line cooed.
âItâs very loudâ Harper whispered, cuddling into the crook of your neck and shoving her hands over her ears to try and drown the noise out.
âIâve got youâ you said, squeezing her a little tighter. âUse my hand to cover your earâ you suggested as the toddler grabbed your hand and put it to the side of her face, pressing her other ear against your chest.
The teams walked out and Harper wouldnât let go of your hand for you to shake hands with the other team, much preferring to stay like this rather than to do her original plan of getting on your shoulders. The only people on the Man City team she let you shake hands with was Mary snd Viv. Everyone else had to settle for a nod of the head.
Before you started seeing Katrina, you hadnât exactly slept around, but youâd never had something as serious. You were kind of known for being that way too, due to you mostly having short term relationships or being single for long periods of time. Katrina and Harper completely changed your whole world and your entire perspective on love, relationships and families.
âOkay, letâs go kidsâ the same man from the tunnel shouted as kick off loomed closer and the mascots needed to be hurried off the pitch. âShe needs to go back to her motherâ he frowned at you, which made you frown back.
âIâm her mumâ you sternly pointed out, watching as his eyes almost sprung out of his head and a quick apology was rushed out of his mouth before he wandered off. You watched as the kids all ran to their parents, while you clung to Harper, not knowing who she could run to. It took a couple of seconds, until the other parents had moved out of the way, for you to spot Katrina, and when you did, a soft smile took over your face. With Harper still snug in your arms, you jogged over to Katrina and transferred the toddler over.
âSurprised?â She asked as you nodded.
âIâll see you both after, I love you both so muchâ you blurted out, kissing Harperâs forehead and Katrinaâs cheek before you raced off into position, ignoring the teasing comments that were coming from your teammates.
After recording an unbelievable 2-1 win over Man City, the entire team was going out tonight to celebrate, but not you. The begging from your mates was going in one ear and out the other, because unfortunately for them, youâd already promised the most important person that youâd take her for ice cream and do whatever she wanted for being so good this weekend at you and Katrinaâs matches.
-
Katrina put Harper straight to bed when you got home late. Sheâd already fallen asleep in the car and to save you your quick nap in the princess bed, Katrina decided to send you off into the kitchen to make some tea while she did bed time duties.
âWeâre safeâ Katrina chuckled, indicating Harper had remained asleep, still in your jersey that she barely ever wanted to take off. âYou played well today, were you trying to impress anyone?â She teased.
âYeah, my really pretty girlfriendâ you smirked, picking her up and kissing her.
âI heard she was really impressedâ she mumbled against your lips, kissing you a little harder before she pulled back. That was strange, she never pulled away from kisses like that when it was just the two of you awake.
âEverything okay?â You asked as she jumped down.
âYeahâ she nodded. âI just havenât been happy like this in such a long timeâ she admitted.
âIâve never been this happyâ you added, as she began to look a little bit conflicted. You were confused. You couldnât really make out her expression.
âI was thinking at the end of the season, I might retireâ she hummed under her breath and you took a step back.
âI- I canât move to Australia. I have three years left on my contract here and-â
âNoâ Katrina stopped your stuttering. âIâm not saying go back to Australiaâ she sighed, realising sheâd messed this up completely while you just sighed in relief. âI wanted to-â she struggled to find the words, but you noticed her eyes were fixated on the photo hung up in your kitchen of the three of you and Win.
âYou want another one?â You whispered, swinging your arms over her and pulling her back against you.
âI doâ she nodded. âI want it to be oursâ
âIâd love thatâ you smiled. âWant to go make one?â You chuckled as she completely eased and turned to face you.
âI donât think thatâs how it worksâ she rolled her eyes playfully.
âIn all seriousness, Iâd love a baby thatâs oursâ you nodded. âI love Harper, and Iâll always see her as ours thoughâ you added.
âI love youâ Katrina said.
âI love youâ you echoed.
âHelloâ Kyra drunkenly shouted from the door.
âWeâre getting rid of that one before we get a new oneâ you huffed, marching towards the door to get Kyra to stop shouting.
Thatâs exactly what you and Katrina did, well not exactly, you didnât get rid of Kyra. But Katrina did have another baby, and you expanded your perfect little family even further.

Kyra thought that last night had been a product of her dreams. She had kissed Y/n, her long-time friend and roommate while watching âBut Iâm a Cheerleaderâ. And when she woke up, she was cuddling with Y/n, which made everything even better.
Kyraâs arm was spread out on the mattress while Y/n slept on top of it, mouth slightly open as she breathed quietly. Her cast was on top of a pillow and her otherâand good â leg was intertwined with Kyraâs. Kyra didnât want to get out of bed, especially when Y/nâs sleeping face looked so cute, but it was 6:30 in the morning and both girls had a big day ahead of them.
The girl enjoyed a few seconds of Y/nâs warm body against her, but before Kyra could say anything, Y/n began to move slightly, pushing her face closer to Kyraâs body until she was lying on her chest, her left arm hanging on Kyraâs shoulder.
The physical touch was welcomed by Kyra. She gently ran her hands over Y/nâs scalp. âGood morning,â Kyra said in a hoarse morning voice.
âHmm,â Y/n murmured, not opening her eyes, feeling the softness of Kyraâs shirt against her cheek. âWhat time is it?â
âAlmost 7.â
âToo early, wanna sleep more.â
Kyra stroked her cheek. âI know, but you can take a nap after we get back from Arsenal, yeah? You have physio today.â
âI forgot about that,â Y/n said, finally opening her eyes to look at Kyra. âYouâre pretty, did you know that?â she said smiling, still a bit dazed from the deep sleep she had been in.
Kyra blushed slightly, but hid it with a grin âIs that why you kissed me yesterday? Because I'm pretty or something?â
âYeah⊠or something.,â Y/n said, kissing Kyra softly on the lips.
Kyra froze for a moment, but quickly melted into Y/nâs kiss.âWe're just doing this now, arenât we?â Kyra asked, smiling. âI mean, I'm not complaining.â
âWhat? Kissing? I guess so if you still want to.â
âGreat, I do, I wanna do it a lot.â
âA lot?â Y/n giggled. âWon't even make me work for itâ she said teasingly.
âIf your leg wasnât broken maybe, I might not be so nice,â Kyra said, tapping her chin. âBut since I'm still your caretaker, then yes, you get free kisses.â
Y/n smiled, cupped Kyraâs jaw and brought her face closer, their lips touching. and Y/n deepened the kiss, neither caring if the other had morning breath or not.
âYouâre the best caretaker, everâ Y/n whispered against Kyraâs mouth.
âGlad you like it, I might put it on my resume for when I retire,â Kyra said. She hesitated at first, but gently placed her hands under Y/nâs shirt, feeling the skin on her waist. âSo I can get a job afterwards, or whatever.â
Y/n shook her head and kissed Kyra some more. âNo, I donât wanna share you with other sad and injured footballers, I just want you for myself.â
âSo are you admitting you like having me around?â Kyra said.
âI mean, you give great kisses and you always remind me to take my medicine, so yeah, maybe I do.â
Kyra loved hearing that she gave great kisses. The thought of being complimented by Y/n made her brain go fuzzy. It was quite an overwhelming and new feeling. So Kyra turned to what she knew best: jokes.
Kyra pumped her fist dramatically in the air âYey! Would you mind repeating that again?â She picked up her phone and opened a recording app.
âOh fuck off,â Y/n pushed the phone away, laughing. âWe were having a moment.â
âSorry, couldn't help myself, letâs just kiss some more,â Kyra said before filling Y/nâs face with kisses.
..
They didn't talk about it.
They didn't talk about any of the kisses they had shared. They hadn't mentioned whatever it was they were doing, not because they didn't want to, or because it was awkward, it was just because it felt normal. As if they'd been in this domestic routine for ages.
Kissing Kyra; telling her she was pretty; cuddling up with her at nightâŠit was all normal, comfortable and serene. Their routine didnât change, they continued to do the same things every day, except they kissed.
Y/n was always very focused on football. So focused that she simply did not care about other things, like romantic relationships. She put everything she had into football because she knew it was up to her and no one else. She didnât really open up to people, especially those who weren't her friends, so it was hard to build any type of romantic relationship.
However, after all these weeks of living with Kyra, sheâd realised that her friend had meant a lot more to her, and she wasnât afraid to show it. It felt good to finally let go and relax, to put football and her long-standing fear of vulnerability aside for a moment.
This wasnât Y/nâs first time being with someone, she had one-night stands before, but theyâd been veryâŠawkward. In the mornings, she and random girls Y/n had met in Londonâs nightlife would dance around âgood morningsâ and âsee youâ or even âwe should do this againâ. But it was all very superficial, as it had to be.
Y/n was not sure what Kyra thought of their thing but she seemed to enjoy it. Y/n didnât want to put a label on it. She just wanted to kiss Kyra some more, cuddle with her through the night and overall just enjoy their little domestic, and pretty much, ordinary life.
They didnât have to rush into it, or overthink it. Just live in it for a while. There was no big elephant in the room that needed to be discussed. There was just Kyra and Y/n, and she was grateful for that.
After a few minutes of lying in bed and doing nothing, the girls left the bed and went to the kitchen to start their day.
âYou can add the mushrooms and onions now, but let it cook before you add the salt and pepperâ Y/n said. She sat on the kitchen counter while Kyra stood by the stove, wearing Y/n's apron with the saying âI love stirring things upâ. It looked cute on her, but the size wasnât right.
Y/n made a note to buy an apron just for Kyra. She didnât really enjoy sharing her things. Red flag, yeah.
Kyra had a frown on her face, if Y/n hadn't known they were only making omelettes, she would have thought Kyra was being sent off to war.
âI hate cooking,â Kyra muttered, stirring the mushrooms uninterestedly.
âWe can't live off of cereal for the next months to come,â Y/n said, without looking at Kyra, concentrating instead on the recipe book in her hand. âCan you also chop the spinach for me when you're done?â
Kyra grumbled so that was a yes.
Y/n took the eggs and the bowl that were already on the counter and started beating the eggs with a whisk.
Y/n loved to cook. It was one of the most therapeutic things for her. She loved cooking for herself and for others. She took pride in eating something and being able to explain, step by step, what she had done and what ingredients she had used.
When she got injured the doctors had told her that she wouldn't be able to stand for long periods of time, so cooking and baking was promptly removed from the list of things she enjoyed, but couldn't do, along with football and morning runs.
This was the first day she had cooked since the injury. She had tried cooking standing up in her crutches but this had led to her falling over while trying to pick up ingredients from the pantry. She had cried her eyes out of anger before Kyra found her on the floor, a mess of tomatoes and beetroot down with her.
She felt frustrated and pathetic, but there was nothing she could do about it except accept that she was fated to eat Kyraâs bad food for a while.
A few weeks after that incident, she tried another strategy, the one she was doing right now: sitting on the counter while giving instructions to Kyra, but, of course, she got frustrated again because Kyra couldn't follow instructions and Y/n was too much of a control freak, so she gave up cooking one more time
However, something had happened between Kyra and Y/nâthey kissed! Y/n hoped that since they shared quite a few kisses, they could successfully share a kitchen as well, so she tried cooking again.
âHey, what are you doing?â Y/n shouted from the other side of the kitchen.
Kyra stopped putting whatever spice she was adding to the food and looked at Y/n confused, holding the spice jar in the air.âWhat? You told me to add salt and pepper on it after it was cooked!â Kyra said, defending herself.
âThat's not pepper, that's paprika!â Y/n pointed out, hands down her face. âNow our omelette is ruined!â
âNo, it's not,â Kyra made a face. âIt's just paprika, not cocaine. We can eat it just fine.â
âHere, pass me the eggs,â she demeaned. âAre they frothy already?â
Y/n took the bowl from the counter, and put it behind her, trying to get out of Kyraâs reach. âWe're not putting my eggs on that. I hate paprika, it makes everything taste horrible.â
Kyra was silent for a moment, her face stoic. âAre you being serious right now?â
âYes.â
âWhy the hell do you have paprika if you hate it, then?â Kyra questioned.
âYou can't be a real cook and not have paprika in your kitchen.â Y/n shrugged.
Kyra tried to take the bowl from her again, but Y/n was quicker and got it out of the way, holding it to her body for dear life.
âI'm being serious! Maybe we can throw the anions, mushrooms and spinach mix away and you can make it again, using the right and correct seasoning this time.â Y/n suggested.
âYou want me to chop the onions again?!â Kyra said with a gasp. âI just cried, chopping them.â She pointed at the onions as if they had hurt her.
âMaybe you can try wearing sunglasses this time?â Y/n pointed.
Kyra didn't respond. The girl just turned away and opened one of the upper cupboards, taking out three boxes of cereal with one hand and two bowls with the other.
She placed the cereal boxes and the bowls next to Y/n and pointed At each box. âDo you want Coco Pops, Raisin Oats or Weetabix?â
Y/n stared at the cereals, disgust on her face. âWhat?!â
âCereal. Which one do you want?â Kyra pointed at each of the boxes again, repeating its brand name.
âI don't want cereal,â Y/n said, more sassy than she liked to admit it.
âWell, but I do,â Kyra said, picking up the Coco Pops one, and pouring it into a bowl.
Before taking a spoonful, she took a step closer and kissed Y/n on the nose, then packed her on the mouth. "You're way too bossy in the kitchenâmy cortisol levels are through the roof,â she explained, taking a bite of her cereal.
Y/n pouted defeatedly, picked up the Raisin Oats and poured it into her own bowl, without saying a word.
Kyra tapped the spoon against the bowl in her hand. âWow! That's actually so good,â Kyra said mouth=-full.
âYou say that as if you haven't done this every day for the last week,â Y/n said grumpily, taking a spoon of her raising. It tasted so processed.
Kyra shrugged. âWell, at least your Raising tastes better than paprika anyway.â
Y/n and Kyra could share kisses and a house, but they couldn't share the kitchen, or even the same cuisine taste.
..
Kyra and Y/n arrived at Arsenal half an hour before the training. Which was plenty of time for Y/n to say hello to all the staff members and Win on her way in. Y/n didnât realise how much she had missed the people she used to see every single day. All the staff members made sure to tell her how much they missed her too and wished her a recovery.
Y/n felt strange at first. In the changing room, everyone was wearing their training kit, and boots and had their hair up, ready for training, everyone except for Y/n, who stood in the middle of the room, and couldn't help but feel like the odd one out, even though all the girls assured her that she was still very much part of the team.
It was still difficult to be surrounded by such amazing players, and friends, while Y/n had only just learned how to walk on her crutches without stumbling.
âLook who's here!â Leah was the first to see Y/n, greeting her with a hug. âHow have you been? Giving that pest over there a hard time?â
âAlways,â Y/n said, winking at her captain.
âY/n! I didn't know you were coming in today.â Alessia said, being the next one in line to give Y/n a warm welcome.
Y/n hugged Alessia as she waved at other teammates, who were just as happy to have her back, even if it wasn't for playing or training.
âKyra didn't tell you that I've been cleared to start physio with our physiotherapists here at Arsenal?â Y/n asked, turning to look at Kyra, who was sitting on the bench, putting her boots on.
âI did tell them!â Kyra said, defensiveness in her tone âBut they didn't believe me.â
âEasy there, little pest,â Steph said behind Kyra, patting her on the back. âThis is what happens when you think it's funny to make up stories, and now we don't believe you when you tell the truth.â Steph walked past a stunned Kyra, coming to greet Y/n. âBut it doesn't matter anymore because Y/n is actually here!â
âBloody hell! Is this still about the loose screws?! Have some mercy and let it go!â Kyra said, pulling her hair into a ponytail.
The team laughed at Kyra and for a few seconds Y/n felt what she used to feel before her injury, a sense of belonging to the people around her and to her club⊠After all the girls chatted with Y/n, they left the changing room and headed onto the pitch, leaving only Y/n, Kyra and Alessia still chatting, just like old times.
âAnd then Kyra tackled RenĂ©Ă© to the ground, can you believe it?!â Alessia said, having just finished telling her the story of how Kyra was responsible for getting RenĂ©eâaka their head coachâin the infirmary a few days ago.
âShe told me to treat her like any other player,â Kyra mumbled. âI felt bad though, but she said she wasnât angry.â
âI would give anything to see RenĂ©e get tackled,â Y/n laughed.
âI think Steph actually got it on video,â Kyra said.
Y/nâs eyes sparkled with excitement. âReally?!â
Kyra smiled. âNah, Iâm joking.â
âI hate you,â Y/n muttered.
Alessia interrupted the two girls by putting one arm around Y/n, but not quite leaning over her so that Y/n wouldn't lose her balance. âDid you know Iâm gonna be your physio-buddy today?â
âI fell hard on my shoulder yesterday, Mary wants to have a look at it.â She added.
Mary was Arsenal's upper body physiotherapist. Y/n wouldnât be doing any sessions with her, instead, Clare would be the one to keep up with Y/n's injury. But both physiotherapists did the physical therapy in the same room, so Alessia and Y/n would spend the whole morning together.
Alessia led Y/n through the door of the changing room, heading to the opposite direction of the pitch, where the physio room was. They quickly noticed someone walking behind them.
Alessia smiled softly, âArenât you doing drills with the team today, Ky? Or do you also have an appointment with Mary too?â
Kyra blushed slightly as she shook her head. âNo, I don't have an appointment. Itâs just thatââ Kyra turned to Y/n. ââdonât you want some help? I always help you walk around and⊠I can stay with you and Alessia during physio today too, Iâm sure RenĂ©e wonât mind.â
âThanks, Ky, but itâs ok.â Y/n looked down at her crutches then at Alessia and smiled softly at Kyra. âLessie here will help me, you donât need to worry about me now, just focus on your training.â
Kyra listened to Y/n but didnât move. Kyra had spent most of her free time with Y/n. The only time they had been apart since her injury was when Kyra was at training, so it felt strange not to be by Y/nâs side when she could.
She knew Y/n would kill her if she ever knew how much Kyra was worried about her and her injury all the time. Y/n absolutely didnât like people fussing over her, so Kyra was having a particularly hard time today.
She needed to give Y/n some space away from her, maybe it would do her some good, and make her feel more independent too.
âI'll keep an eye on her, Kyra, â Alessia said, placing a comforting hand on Y/n's back. âDon't worry, go on, if anything happens I'll come get you, yeah?â
Y/n smiled and Kyra a thumbs up, reassuring her that she could leave
Kyra just nodded her head, a small smile on her face as she turned around and walked away.
Y/n would be fine. Why wouldn't she be fine? She was only doing physio, for Godâs sake. Kyra thought, a mix of emotions on her mind as she left the two girls alone.
âShe seems very concerned about you,â Alessia said. âDid you fall or something? When Leah was injured she fell down the stairs of her house, remember?â
âYeah I do remember that, I was the one that had to come to her house to help herâ Y/n said. âI fell too, twice actually, once in the bathroom and once in the pantry a few days ago,â Y/n pointed to her crutches. âI still haven't got used to using them.â
âWas Kyra the one who helped you?â
âYes, she was very nervous, but she didnât wanna show it,â Y/n continued. âSo she just kept saying I shouldn't try to kill myself trying to walk on my own because people would think I died because of her.â
âI think she was trying to hide how much she cared for you with her jokes,â Alessia said. âDid you know Clare and Mary had to ban her from getting into the physio room because she kept interrupting the other girls âsessions to ask about your injury, and if there were any kind of new treatments around.
Y/n stopped and laughed at Alessia. âShe did that? Thatâs so Kyra honestly.â
âYes, but I think her ban was lifted a few days ago,â Alessia said jokingly as she opened the door to the physio room and helped Y/n to one of the therapy tables.
Thankfully the room was empty, so Alessia and Y/n were able to talk about whatever they wanted freely.
âItâs a little funny watching you and Kyra,â Alessia said, putting up a chair next to Y/nâs table. âI think weâre so used to seeing her acting as a menace and treating her like a little sister that we get a bit shocked when she acts more responsibly.â
âItâs adorable, really,â Alessia added.
Y/n smiled, thinking of Kyraâs soft face. âYeah, she is.â
Y/n almost blurted out that she had never seen Y/n as a little sister, especially now. Y/n and Kyra werenât exactly hiding that they wereâŠkissing? snogging around? But Y/n still didnât want to talk about it too much. It still felt too intimate. It was something that belonged to them.
âKyraâs been treating me really well,â Y/n continued. âI mean she always jokes and teases me a lot, but sheâs also very patient when Iâm mad about my injury, and she always drives me around, so thatâs a plus.â
Y/n wanted people to see Kyra the way she saw her. Not just someone who plays around, but also someone whoâs very caring and generally loving.
âWell, I'm glad to know you have someone like Ky on your side right now.â Alessia smiled. âIt makes me worry less about you and her, I feel like you act as her voice of reason sometimes. â
âPlease, I donât need more people to worry about me, I promise.â Y/n rolled her eyes playfully. âThis whole recovery is going slower than I thought it would be but Iâm just learning to be patient.â
âYouâll get there,â Alessia said reassuringly.
âNow please letâs talk about something other than my stupid injury, please!â Y/n said dramatically, making Alessia laugh.
âOk, so let me tell you what happened in the tunnel in our last gameââ Alessia started the story, and both girls were busy while waiting for physio to begin.
..
âI'm never coming back here again,â Y/n mumbled as she sat on the bench, wind in her face, watching her teammates do running drills on the pitch. Physio had taken up two hours of her and Alessiaâs morning and it was hard; Y/n even considered just cutting off her leg and leaving it there.
âYes, you're,â Leah murmured from her side, drinking her water and watching her surroundings âPhysio honestly sucks but youâve just gotta do it, mateâ The captain shrugged. âItâs good that youâre feeling pain, it means your nerves arenât screwed up.â
âYeah, but it fucking hurts!â Y/n complained, crossing her arm â
âBreaking a bone hurts, what made you think growing them back wouldn't,â Leah said condescendingly.
âHave people ever told you how much you suck at supporting others in need?â
âHave people ever told you how annoying you are when you whine?â Leah bit back.
Y/n rolled her eyes. âHey, share your water with me, I left my bottle in Kyra's car.â Y/n made grabby hands, but Leah shook her head rather dramatically.
âEw, no.â Leah said, âI hate sharing water, grab one from the cooler.â
Y/n raised an eyebrow at Leah, signalling at her cast. âCould you please get me some water, then?â
Leah complained all the way to the cooler and back, but finally handed Y/n her water bottle. âAre you like this with Cooney-Cross at home too?â
âLike this what?â Y/n asked, taking a sip of her cold water. Damn, she was thirsty.
âDemanding,â Leah said teasingly, taking the spot next to Y/n again.
âI wasnât at first. I didnât like asking for help,â Y/n answered, her eyes searching the pitch for Kyra in the pitch. âBut she cracked me.â
âI think you cracked her too,â Leah said nonchalantly, watching Kyra as well.
âWhat?â Y/n asked, turning her head to Leah.
âSheâs different.â Leah continued. âSheâs not acting so much like a pest lately, sheâs been more responsible, less reckless on the pitch too.â
Y/n didnât answer.
âI wonder if itâs because of you,â Leah added.
Wow, Leah, always the straightforward one.
âSheâs a young player, weâve all been like that once,â Y/n said, trying to steer the conversation, sensing something suggestive in Leahâs voice, but not wanting to give in to Leah, not.
âI wasnât,â Leah said proudly.
Y/n laughed sarcastically. âOh yeah, because you were always so calm and collected.â
âI beg your pardon? I have the least yellow card ib from this team,â Leah bit back, rolling her eyes âAnyway, Iâm just casually, very casually, letting you know that Iâm sensing something different in Kyra.â
Y/n didn't answer again.
âSo Iâm just leaving the door for this conversation open,â Leah continued, trying to sound chill, but Y/n had known her for a few years now. The captain had thought this whole conversation through. âIf you ever want to talk about it, I mean, Iâm here.â
Leah honestly could give two shits about other peopleâs lives, so Y/n was rather amused by Leahâs way of showing that she was interested in her life and in whatever she had to do with Kyraâs change in behaviour.
âIs this your way of trying to be casual? Because you failed, bro.â
Leah furrowed her eyebrows. âIâm just trying to be a good friend. Alessia told me I should be more welcoming, and moreâŠemotionally available, so this is me trying. If you prefer my old version I can bring her backâ
âPlease bring back my old Leah,â Y/n said, playfully putting her palms together as if in a prayer.
âWhat happened between you and Cooney?â Leash asked bluntly.
This was the Leah she knew.
âNothing happened between me and Kyra,â Y/n said. âWe just got closer, weâve been sharing a house for the last one to two months, in case you donât remember. â
It wasnât exactly a lie, but it was the best Y/n could tell Leah right now.
Y/n and Kyra werenât even dating, but Y/n couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if they disclosed whatever they had going on to the team. It wouldn't be anything new, it was very normal to date with your teammates.
Arsenal itself had a lot of couples that were brought together through the club, it wasnât something unusual. But of course, when new couples formed the dynamics of the team changed a bit.
If they started dating, would people stop seeing Kyra as their little sister? Would the team stop seeing Y/n as this tough player who only had eyes for football and maybe a nightstand here or there?
When she thought about it Y/n realised that she really didnât care about what her teammate thought about it. When Viv and Beth started dating, everyone just moved on with their lives, it was the same with Katie and Caitlin.
Y/n and Kyra just werenât the type to make a big deal about it, they would probably just notice the shift between them and accept.
âIâll pretend to believe you if you tell Alessia I tried doing the whole talk your feelings out with you,â Leah mumbled next to her, pulling Y/n out of her thoughts.
âSo Alessia was the one who sent you, then? That little minx was with me the whole morning, she could've asked me.â
Leah shrugged, getting up from the bench and starting to warm up. âShe didn't want to intrude.â
âSo you intruded on her behalf?â Y/n asked, finding the whole situation funny.
âYeah, I mean, you get closed off sometimes and itâs hard to reach out to you,â Leah said, more firmly now.
âIt takes one to know one,â Y/n said, smiling at Leah.
Both women had been friends for a very long time. But the friendship between Leah and Y/n was different, they didnât text every day, and they didn't plan to meet every week.
It was the kind of friend shared by two reserved people who enjoyed their privacy but still knew they could always count on each other
Y/n and Leah had the same faults, they were proud, stubborn and overly independent. So they knew each other, they knew how the other reacted to the world. And of course, they knew how hard it was for them to open up.
âWell, you know where I live if you ever feel like talking about why your eyes havenât left Cooney for a second,â Leah patted Y/nâs back before running back to the pitch.
Maybe people would realise that she and Kyra were together sooner than she thought. Especially since Y/n was bluntly staring at Kyra while she played.
So what if she actually cheered a little when Kyra scored a goal?

always sunny in australia
pairings: tillies x teen!reader
summary: your first debut for the tillies
warnings: mentions of anxiety
notes: this is such a switch from estrella i love it. also apologies because itâs a bit short but i am getting to writing a character like this so give me grace đđŸ
you guys can also request stories for this too!
You anxiously chew on your lip as you sit in your cubby, watching your teammates move around the locker room, pulling on their socks, tying their cleats, shaking out their limbs. The energy in the room is electricâ excitement, determination, focus. But all you can feel is the nervous pit growing in your stomach.
Your fingers tremble as you retie your laces for what feels like the tenth time, your knee bouncing up and down in a restless rhythm. The fluorescent lights hum above you, their sterile glow making everything feel too bright, too sharp. The sound of studs scraping against the floor, the murmur of pre-game rituals, the distant echo of the stadium crowd, it all blurs together in a disorienting buzz.
You donât realize youâre holding your breath until a voice snaps you out of it.
âYou nervous?â
You jolt slightly, looking up to see your captain standing over you, arms crossed, an amused yet knowing smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
âNo,â you blurt out, shaking your head a little too fast. Your voice comes out higher than usual, unconvincing even to your own ears. Sam raises an eyebrow, unimpressed.
Ellie, tying her cleats a few cubbies over, snorts. âPlease, we all saw you nearly pass out in the warm-up, kid.â
You groan, burying your face in your hands. âThat was one time.â
Steph walks by, ruffling your hair. âSure, kid. One time. And yesterday. And the day before that.â
Caitlin grins as she leans against the locker. âItâs kinda cute, honestly.â
âYeah, in a baby bird who might pass out kind of way,â Ellie adds.
You let out a dramatic sigh, slumping forward. âThis is bullying.â
Mini laughs, patting your back. âNah, this is love.â
Sam, still beside you, finally takes mercy. She plops down and throws an arm around your shoulders, pulling you into her side. Itâs grounding, the solid warmth of her presence, the steady rise and fall of her breathing.
âListen, Kiddie,â she says, her voice softer now, reassuring. âI was your age when I debuted, and I nearly shit my pants. No joke.â
That earns a small laugh from you, but Sam continues, her tone serious despite the grin playing on her lips.
âBut hereâs the thing, you wouldnât be here if you werenât ready. If you didnât have pure talent and skill, they wouldnât have called you up. You belong here, and youâve got all of us behind you. You have nothing to worry about.â
You take a shaky breath, nodding, letting her words sink in. Maybe sheâs right. No. She is right.
âThanks, Sammy,â you murmur, and she smiles before pressing a quick kiss to your forehead.
âAnytime, Kiddie.â
Before you can respond, the coachâs voice booms through the locker room.
âGame time!â
The room erupts into motion. Your heart pounds, but this time, thereâs something else mixed in with the nerves, excitement. You take one last deep breath, stand up, and follow your team out onto the field.
The stadium lights bear down on you, illuminating the field in a way that makes everything feel surreal. The roar of the crowd is deafening, a mix of Australian and American fans creating a constant buzz that fills your chest with nerves.
You blink. For a second, the lights seem too bright, the world almost dreamlike.
You shake your head quickly, grounding yourself back in the moment. Focus.
Sam is hyping everyone up, her voice loud and confident. Caitlin gives you a nod, her usual calm demeanor somehow reassuring.
âReady, kid?â Alanna nudges you with her elbow.
You take a deep breath and nod. You donât know if itâs entirely true, but you want it to be.
âGood,â she grins. âLetâs give âem hell.â
Ellie cracks her knuckles beside you. âTry not to faint, alright?â
Before you can reply, Mini elbows her. âLeave the kid alone, sheâs already stressing.â
âIâm not stressing,â you protest weakly.
Mini raises an eyebrow. âRight, and Iâm a six-foot striker.â
Steph smirks. âHey, thatâd be terrifying.â
Ellie grins. âIâd score a hat trick every game.â
âAgainst an open goal, maybe,â Caitlin mutters.
Before Ellie can argue, the refâs whistle cuts through the noise.
The U.S. comes out aggressive, pressing hard and fast, making it difficult for your team to settle. You track back defensively, trying to hold your own against their left-back, who isnât giving you an inch of space. The pace is relentless, and your lungs burn, but you push through it.
Then, in the 23rd minute, the U.S. strikes first. A sharp cross, a towering header, and just like that, youâre down 1-0.
Macca picks the ball out of the net, shaking her head but clapping her hands. âWe go again!â
Sam shouts, âHeads up, weâre still in this!â
And sheâs right. Because ten minutes later, you get your first real moment.
Mini finds you out wide with a pinpoint pass. You take a quick touch, feel the defender closing in, and then you burst forward. A sharp cut inside, a feint, and you slip past her. The space opens up just enough. You whip in a cross, and thereâs Mary, perfectly positioned. One touch, back of the net.
1-1.
The celebration is instant. Mary grins at you, offering a fist bump as the team huddles together. Steph ruffles your hair, and Ellie slaps your back.
âThatâs more like it! Goal in your first debut!â Alanna shouts.
âSee, baby bird can fly,â Caitlin teases.
For the first time all game, you let yourself breathe. Youâre doing it. Youâre here.
The U.S. regains the lead early in the second half with a rocket from distance. Macca dives, fingertips grazing the ball, but itâs not enough.
2-1.
You jog back to your position, frustration bubbling under your skin. You glance up into the stands, and for a split second, your breath catches.
A little girl with an Australian flag painted on her face. She has an old Tillies jersey, but itâs her sign that caught your attention. It had your name on it obviously in her hand writing.
âStay in it,â Sam mouths, bringing you back.
And you do. Minute 78. Your moment comes.
Mini wins the ball in midfield and immediately looks for you. The second you see her foot swing, youâre already moving. The ball zips toward you, perfect weight, perfect angle. You take one touch, just enough to set yourself up, and then, you strike.
Itâs clean. Pure. The ball curls, spinning past the keeperâs outstretched hands. The net ripples.
For a second, everything is silent in your head. And then, chaos.
Ellie practically jumps on your back. Caitlin grabs your shoulders, shaking you with excitement. Alanna and Steph clap you on the back, and Mini, beaming, yells, âTHATâS MY GIRL!â
But itâs Samâs voice that cuts through the noise.
âTHATâS MY KID!â
The match ends shortly after. 2-2. A draw against the U.S., and considering the way your team is celebrating, it feels like a win.
As the final whistle blows, you exchange handshakes, feeling the adrenaline finally start to fade. Your legs are heavy, exhaustion creeping in. You quietly peel away from the group, heading toward the tunnel, wanting to slip away unnoticed. But before you can disappear, an arm wraps around your shoulders.
âWhere are you going, Kiddie?â
Samâs voice is light, teasing, as she gently redirects you.
âThe locker room?â you answer hesitantly, furrowing your brows.
She chuckles. âNope. I have someone you need to meet.â
She steers you toward the center of the field, where a blonde U.S. player is waiting with an easy smirk.
âSunny, this is Kristie,â Sam says, grinning. âMy better half.â
Ellie leans in from behind you. âThe actual boss of Sam Kerr.â
Kristie extends a hand, her smirk softening into a warm smile. âNice goal, kid. You gave us trouble out there.â
You shake her hand, still feeling a little starstruck. âUh, thanks.â
Sam squeezes your shoulder. âSheâs shy, but donât worry, sheâll warm up.â
Kristie laughs. âSounds like someone else I know.â
Ellie gasps dramatically. âYou mean Sam wasnât born screaming orders at people?â
Caitlin grins. âShocking, I know.â
You glance between the two of them as they exchange knowing looks. The nerves that had been weighing you down all night start to fade, replaced by something warmer, acceptance.

You're My Little Secret - Kyra Cooney Cross
Kyra Cooney Cross x lionesses!reader
summary - kyra's coming to arsenal and none of the girls know that you already know each other very, very well.
warnings - nothing except its kinda crap, lot's of rambling. (let me know if you want me to make this a series)
Kyra x Sunny masterlist
Kyra Cooney Cross was Arsenal's latest signing, the young Australian leaving Hammarby to come and play for one of the biggest clubs in England. Most of the girls had known for a while now about her joining you since before the world cup.
Since the news was properly announced, Caitlin and Steph had made sure to send multiple essays on all the group chats about making the girl feel as welcomed as possible.
Unlike Kyra who had already played for two clubs, Arsenal becoming her third, you were much like Leah Williamson, you'd been with Arsenal since you were 8 and had risen up to the top through the academy and now were a frequent starter for the senior team.
Arsenal had become a home for you, and you never planned on leaving. All the girls had become your family, every single one of you shared a special bond. That's what made Kyra coming to Arsenal so awkward.
You didn't mean to keep such a big secret from everyone, you and Kyra had just wanted to stay private. No one knew, not even Katie who was like your older (extremely annoying) sister or Vic who was your best friend. Kyra hadn't even told Mini and Charli. You just never felt the need to tell them.
Only one person even knew the two of you had met before, but she didn't have a clue that you were together.
Even when they would constantly pester you, trying to get you to go on dates you just let them go on, always ignoring them.
But still after over a year of calling Kyra your girlfriend, not a single person knew about the countless kisses the two of you had shared, or all the nights you'd spent with only each other.
Nobody knew all the coffee dates or the late-night walks.
Nobody knew of the hours you'd spent on facetime when you were away from each other.
It was hard acting like you hadn't already known the girl for 2 years and been dating for 1 and a half of them. But it was better that way. You'd seen how crazy fans went about trying to prove that Katie and Caitlin were dating and the stress that had caused on their relationship, and all the times when they felt like they had no privacy. You and Kyra didn't want that. If you didn't tell anyone, not even your teammates and friends, there was no chance of the public finding out as long as you stayed discreet. But that was easy considering the two of you had a long distant relationship and no fans even knew the two of you had ever spoken to each other.
It was going to be harder now though.
Kyra had received many offers from clubs around the world, but when Arsenal had offered it was a no brainer that she would join the red and white team. She would do anything to be able to spend more time with you, a nice change to the normal distance in your relationship.
A few days after the news Kyra had joined was announced, it was her first day at the club. And for you it was your first time seeing most of the girls as you had been out since the end of the world cup with a minor ankle injury missing out on the games against Linköping and Paris FC in the champions league qualification.
Vic was the first person you greeted as she walked in, practically dragging her feet along the ground. You leaped onto your best friend wrapping your legs around her, forcing her to give you a piggyback.
'Get off me Sunny.' She groans trying to shake her body and get you off. You just wrapped your arms tighter around her neck resting your chin on her head.
Sunny was the nickname you had received when you had begun properly playing with the senior squad. The girls had been talking about you when the topic of your bubbly personality came up. You canât remember who, but someone said something relating you to the sun and ever since then the name Sunny had stuck.
'But I haven't seen you in ages.' You complain before giving up and sliding down her body and landing on your bottom on the floor. A small pout on your lips. 'I hate you.' It was meant to just be a whisper but she still heard you, resulting in a kick in the head.
'Get up you big baby.' The Dutch girl demands, and you do as she says following her to the room where most of your teammates already were.
You go around the room giving everyone a hug, except for Steph and Caitlin your favourite people to annoy on the whole team. You tugged at both of their hair as they were facing away turning away almost immediately and diving into conversation with Beth and Leah.
You didnât get to say much though, as a pair of hands turn you back around and your greeted by two pissed of Aussie's faces. Y/n L/n,â you wince at the full name, the girls only ever saying it when you were in trouble, âwe haven't even said a word to you and you're already annoying us.' Steph gives you a stern glare and you smile sheepishly.
It was well known by almost everyone that you loved to annoy your older teammates.
'We've only just gotten away from Kyra and now we have to deal with you, and her when she gets here too.' Caitlin groans, 'Do you reckon Jonas will let me resign and go play in a foreign country?' You grin cheekily at her, knowing that she really loved you. Katie often joked that you were like Caitlin's child as you always came to her whenever you had problems, and she always had your back.
'It's ok Cait,' You say, giving her a light pat on her shoulder 'I know you hate to admit it, but you love me.' She rolls her eyes at you wrapping you up in a headlock, you wriggle around, making weird, suffocated noises as you try to escape her grasp.
It's almost like fate that Katie walks in in that exact moment, you slip out of Caitlin's grasp and sprint over to the older Irish girl. 'Katie, you need to sort out your girlfriend.' You tell her urgently 'She was trying to kill me.' Katie laughs, looking over at her girlfriend who is back talking to Steph. The Ireland captain was used to the playful banter you and Caitlin had, often having to be the one to step in when you both took it a bit too far.
'Do I not even get a hello?' She teases you causing you to roll your eyes and poke her in the stomach. 'Oi, I'll get Caitlin to put you in another headlock.' She threatens.
'Please. No!' You plead, putting your hands up in defence before running over to Lotte. You slung your arm over her shoulder. 'Carlotte Mae Wubben-Moy.' You grin watching her face to see her reaction at her full name.
'You know how much I hate it when you call me that.' You don't have time to respond to her when Steph and Beth come and join the two of you.
'Is she annoying you as well?' Steph asks Lotte, giving her a sympathetic look as she sees your arm over her shoulder and your signature cheeky, smug grin that you always have whenever you are annoying someone. 'God you and Kyra are going to get along like a house on fire.' She tells you, her face slightly scared as she thinks of all the pesty things you and Kyra would do upon meeting each other.
Little did she know that you and Kyra already got on.
Youâre about to respond but donât get to as Jonas walks in. A hush settling in the room.
'Hello girls.' The Swedish man shoots everyone a smile as you all move to sit down on the chairs so you're facing him 'Special welcome back to Sunny, so nice to see you again after the break, congratulations on your success at the World Cup, you played brilliantly,' the mention of the world cup sends a stinging pain through you. You still hadn't fully recovered from the loss in the final to Spain, you were so close to winning and were still devastated that you couldn't get the result. 'Before we properly talk about the season ahead and reflect on the games against Paris fc and Linköping, I'd like to welcome our newest signing who I am sure will play a massive part in helping to lead us towards success. I am sure you already know who she is but please welcome Kyra Cooney Cross to the Arsenal family.' Everyone claps and some people even cheer as the Aussie comes into the room.
You almost immediately make eye contact with her who had been searching for you the moment she walked in. You have to bite your lip to hold back a large smile.
You hadn't seen her since the Lionesses had played the Matildas in the semifinals. You had been too busy recovering from your injury so you could be back in time for the start of the season to have time to properly catch up with her, so it took all your self-control not to get up and run into her arms.
She goes and sits with Caitlin, not wanting to make it weird if she went and sat with you.
You turn to Alessia who is sitting next to you, the two of you have a short conversation while Kyra is settling in, before you have to listen to Jonas talking about important stuff, but it was pretty much the same talk he had at the beginning of every season.
When he lets everyone go and do a light gym session, before proper training after lunch, you are almost immediately on your feet and heading into the gym.
You talk to Alessia but are hardly paying attention waiting for Kyra to come out wanting to say hi to your girlfriend. When she does, she's with Steph and Caitlin who are pointing at all the girls, probably telling Kyra all their names and stuff about them. You'd already done that over face time.
When Steph points to you and Alessia, you make eye contact again. This time you smile and wave at them. Kyra says something to them that you can't hear but they begin to walk over to you.
'I don't know if we should be doing this.' Steph says anxiously, who you can hear now since they were getting closer.
âDoing what.â Your girlfriend asks.
âIntroducing you and Sunny, youâre the biggest pests in the world.â Caitlin tells her.
'We'll probably end up regretting this moment when they start stealing our boots every training session' Steph says and you grin at the left back.
'That's such a boring prank, I've got much better ones planned already.' You laugh and Caitlin rolls her eyes.
'Kyra this is y/n, but everyone calls her Sunny, Sunny this is Kyra.' Caitlin says to the both of you. It was weird hearing people introduce the two of you like you were strangers, but you played along with it anyways, not wanting to raise suspicions.
You pull her into a hug, and she wraps her arms back around you in return. You almost melt into her warmth, the familiar smell of her perfume consuming your nostrils. You could stay in Kyra's arms forever, but you know it would look weird if you stayed like this for too long.
'Nice meeting you.' Kyra says holding her hand out for you to shake. Her acting skills were terrible, she sounded like a robot, and you had to hold your breath so you wouldn't laugh at her.
'I look forward to playing with you this season.' You say back, knowing you probably sounded just as awkward as she did. You shake her hand, and she smiles slightly when she sees one of her rings on your finger. When you let go of each other Kyra turns to greet Alessia, this time the interaction seems more natural.
'It's going to be a tough race to see which one of you is more annoying.' Steph tells you as you and her watch Kyra interact with Alessia. You're not trying to look like a lovesick puppy, but as Caitlin looks at you from the side it's all she can think of, she tells herself she's just seeing things though, you canât be looking at Kyra like sheâs your long-lost lover. Right?
'I need the toilet.' Kyra whines to Steph after a while as the five of you are walking to the weights area of the gym.
'I'll show you where they are.' You say almost immediately, cringing at how eager you sounded to show a girl, who supposedly you were only meeting for the first time, where the toilets were. You played it off though missing Caitlin's small frown of confusion before she shrugs and says she'll meet Kyra at the cafeteria at Lunch.
'Don't get up to any mischief.' Steph tells Kyra in a way much like how a mother would talk to a child 'you don't want to make a bad first impression.' Kyra nods and you both watch as the two older Australians walk away.
'Lessi, you coming?' You ask the blonde striker, who shakes her head. 'I'm going to go and see Lotte.' She says leaving you and Kyra alone.
As you and Kyra walked off, you felt almost giddy. You had time just the two of you for the first time in ages. When you were out of sight from everyone else, yours and Kyra's hands intertwined.
'I've missed you so much.' She whispers a small smile cracking on your face.
'I've missed you more baby.' You say, turning around and holding open the door for her stepping to the side so she can enter. 'I'll wait out here for you.' A small frown forms on her cute face.
'I don't really need the toilet.' She tells you as though it was obvious 'I just wanted to spend time alone with you.' She steps closer to you placing a hand on your arm.
You two had been in moments like this too many times to keep count, but that didn't stop your heart from racing. Every time you were with Kyra, whether it be on facetime or in person, you'd constantly be questioning how you got so lucky to have a girl like her.
When she's so close to you that your chests are basically touching, you close that small gap placing your lips on her. Your hand holds the back of her neck, keeping her as near as possible, whilst hers sneak underneath the fabric of your training top running up and down your back. The contact of her skin on yours gives you shivers, turning into putty at Kyra's touch.
As the two of you were sharing a passionate moment, Steph and Caitlin were doing warmups in the corner of the gym, their voices were hushed but intense.
'I don't know, Steph.' Caitlin whispered; her brow furrowed with suspicion. 'Did you notice how they were acting before? It was just⊠off.' Steph nodded thoughtfully, adjusting the weights before her next shoulder press.
'Yeah, it was weird. Like they were trying too hard to act normal.' She glanced around before leaning in closer. 'Do you think they're hiding something from us? Like, maybe they knew each other before, and they've been keeping it from us this whole time?' Caitlin eyes widened with realization.
'I think you might be onto something. How else do you explain why Sunny was so eager to take Kyra to the toilet. and the way she was looking at her.' They exchanged knowing looks.
'Should we ask them about it?' Steph asked her Aussie teammate who just shook her head.
'Let's just see how the next few days go,' Caitlin says, not wanting to jump straight to conclusions 'There's probably nothing even going on and we're just overthinking. Sunny can be very friendly, that's probably it.' Steph hums in agreement the two of them changing the subject to Steph's upcoming wedding.
Back in the toilets you and Kyra were still making up for lost time. The two of you had moved into the bathrooms, you were sitting on the sink your legs wrapped around Kyra's torso. She had undone your plait, so your hair was now loose, all knotty from her hands being tangled in it.
When you pull away Kyra's eyes are glued to your face. The midfielder memorising every single detail almost as if she was never going to see you again. 'God your gorgeous.' She mumbles placing a light kiss on your jaw, you lean your head back a slight sigh of pleasure escaping your lips. Kyra uses this as an opportunity to place wet kisses all along your neck but you're quick to push her away knowing it would look strange if you came out of the toilets with fresh hickies littering your neck.
'Not now.' You tell her when she pouts, your quick to slide off the sink and readjust your t-shirt. 'We should get going before anyone notices weâve been gone for a while.â
âBut Iâve only just got to see you.â She complains clinging to your arm like a koala clings to a tree. âfive more minutes? She begs giving you puppy eyes that you normally found it very hard to say no to.
âIâm sorry Ky, but we really got to go otherwise theyâll start wondering where we are.â It takes a minute of persuading Kyra, and then fixing your hair and hers before youâre walking back out to where everyone else is.
âIâve never heard anyone call you Sunny before.â Kyra says.
âReally? Surely youâve heard someone call me it before, everyone does.â You say slightly shocked, even your parents had started calling you Sunny.
âNope, never have.â The Aussie answers âI think Iâll stick with babe and my love. You know, the names only I can call you.â She sends a wink your way and you shove her lightly.
'Who said I wasn't seeing anyone else?' A teasing grin plasters your face as you joke with Kyra, her face turning stone cold.
âIâll take my ring back; Iâve been wondering where that was for a while now.â She warns making you laugh.
âOh yeah.â Youâd almost forgotten about the ring âI think it looks better on me though. I even put it on my middle finger so I could do this.â You flip her off making her jaw drop.
âThat is not the way you should be treating your amazing, super-hot and funny girlfriend is it?â She teases ruffling your hair.
âCâmon Ky.â You sigh, undoing your hair again and re-plaiting it âThatâs the second time youâve messed my hair up already today.â She laughs.
You are back in the gym now, hopping onto the bikes to do your warmups while Kyra leaves you to go back to Caitlin. When you get off the bike you grab a mat to do your stretches, alone until Vic comes next to you.
âIâve been looking for you for ages.â She says sitting next to you watching as you stretch. âWe need to do our pull-up comp, you may have beaten me last year but I want revenge.â She grins and you roll your eyes.
âAs if. I love your confidence though.â
âIâm serious, Iâve got this one in the bag.â Vic tells you one you've finished, you and Vic make your way over to the pull up machines. Manu noticed the two of you getting ready and since last year, when you two had started the pull up competition everyone had been placing bets on who would win.
âEveryone, Vic and Sunny are doing the pull up comp.â The Austrian shouts catching most peopleâs attention.
Kyra was with Caitlin and Katie at the far side of the room, but still heard the goalkeepers loud shouts. âWhat is that?â She asked the older pair.
âWhen Vic joined last year her and Sunny did a competition to see who could do the most pull ups. Sunny won and Vic is determined to win this year.â Katie says, catching Kyraâs interest. Sheâd love to see her girlfriend doing pull ups with her muscles on full display.
'Let's go watch.' Kyra insists, not leaving the others much a choice as she's already gotten up and started walking over.
'Someone's a bit eager.' Katie chuckles to Caitlin.
'Yeah.' The aussie responds, though her voice is only a mumble as her thoughts were still thinking about her and Steph's conversation from earlier.
When the trio reached the pull up machines, you and Vic were mid argument about who was going to go first. 'I won last time so I should get to pick.' You stated, restating your argument for the 100th time.
'Exactly.' Vic sighs, 'You won, so you don't need an advantage.' Everyone groans, some people who had gathered round to watch debating walking away if the two of you were going to keep going back and forth arguing the same points.
'Do you want to do this or not?' Manu asks the two of you, standing in between you to temporarily stop your bickering. 'Because if you carry on we're going to have to go outside before you can actually do the comp.'
'Fine.' You spit giving Vic a nasty glare 'You can go first, but you'll still lose.'
'Will not.'
'Will so.'
Will not.'
Will s-'
'Can the two of you shut up for once?' Lotte interrupts and you look around noticing that Lia, Sabs and Stina had all returned to their workouts.
'Sorry guys.' You apologize before walking over to the bar and getting your grip ready. When Manu says go you start, at first its easy and you breeze past the first 10, but then your arms begin to ache and you slow down each pull up becoming harder and harder.
'C'mon Sunny!' People begin cheering, their shouts getting louder as you get to your 20th, you use all your leftover strength to do one more before collapsing.
After catching your breath, you get up, sending Vic a cheeky smile as she gets on the bar ready to have her turn.
You spot Kyra watching from afar with Caitlin and Katie, not knowing that the girl was replaying your pull ups in your mind. The whole time she had been practically drooling over you, mainly your biceps that were on display.
No one had noticed the midfielders lovestruck expressions as she watched her girlfriend work out.
Everyone except Steph.
When Kyra notices you staring she smiles, dimples forming on her cheeks. She walks over to you and you've completely forgotten about the competition, unbeknownst to the loud cheers as Vic also reaches 20 pull ups. People sighing as she's unable to complete a 21st.
'Maybe I should get some bars so I can see you do that every day.' Your girlfriend whispers in your ear when she reaches you a small smile breaking onto your face.
'You enjoyed that did you?' You tease flexing your muscles causing Kyra's cheeks to get a light pink tint and her to stumble on her words.
You pull your sleeves back down when Vic wraps her arms around you. 'Were you even watching Sunny?'
A feeling of guilt washes over you as you realise you were too caught up with Kyra to watch Vic have her turn.
'Yes...'
'You little shit.' Vic gasps when you fail at lying 'I think you should be disqualified...' She turns around to everyone else 'Who else thinks Sunny should be disqualified?' she shouts everyone immediately agreeing.
'You guys.' You wine, hurt by their betrayal 'You don't even know why Vic thinks I should be disqualified.'
'Yeah but it's worth it to see you mad.' Katie laughs causing you to flip her off. 'I wouldn't be doing that if I were you.'
Later, when everyone was outside doing drills Steph and Kyra were distanced from the the others. The older girl asking Kyra about how she was settling in so far.
The left back, who had not been able to stop thinking about how you and Kyra had been acting strange decided now would be a good time to ask about you.
Steph leaned forward slightly, her expression curious yet casual. 'You and Sunny seem to get along really well. Do you like her?'
Kyra felt a pang of panic shoot through her. She hadn't expected Steph to pick up on anything. She tried to keep her voice steady, hoping that Steph was just being curious. 'Oh, um, Sunny? Yeah, she's⊠she's nice. We get along.' Kyra's words stumbled over each other, her mind racing for a suitable explanation.
Steph raised an eyebrow, her gaze penetrating. 'You seem a bit flustered,' she remarked softly, a knowing smile playing on her lips. 'Is there something you're not telling me?'
Kyra's heart sank. She hadn't planned for this conversation to take such a turn. You would kill her if Steph found out. She glanced around nervously, hoping no one else was listening in. 'I⊠I don't know what you mean Steph.' she managed finally, trying to keep her voice light despite the knot of anxiety in her stomach.
Steph leaned back, still smiling knowingly. She knew Kyra was hiding something. 'Come on, Kyra,' she said gently. 'I can tell when something's up. You can talk to me.'
Kyra sighed inwardly, knowing she couldn't keep denying it. She glanced over at Sunny, who was engrossed in her phone, oblivious to their conversation. 'It's⊠it's not like that,' Kyra began awkwardly, her cheeks flushing. 'We're just got along straight away.'
Steph's smile turned into a grin of amusement. 'Uh-huh,' she teased lightly. 'Sure, just friends.'
Kyra felt a mix of relief and nervousness. She hadn't intended to reveal anything, but now it seemed Steph was onto something. "I⊠I really mean it, I think that we're going to be close, that's all.' Kyra insisted, hoping her voice sounded convincing.
Steph chuckled softly, shaking her head. 'Okay, Kyra,' she said, her tone affectionate. 'Whatever you say.'
As they continued the drills, Kyra couldn't help stealing glances at you, when you looked up and caught her eye, you gave her a happy smile. Kyra thought Despite the awkwardness of the moment, Kyra couldn't deny the warmth she felt knowing that Steph suspected something, even if she hadn't outright admitted it.

Forever Out of Reach?
Kyra Cooney-Cross x Reader
Summary: R doesn't get to follow through on her plansâŠor does she?
Word count: 4.2k
Warnings: Angst, hurt/comfort, maybe main character death
Part 1, Part 2
This is part 2 to my other KCC fic! It is a bit all over and the POVs switch but I'm kind of happy with the way it came out and I hope you all enjoy it! I did change this from my inital plan so it is not as angsty as I originally planned but this will do. Also this is not proofread! I wanted to get this out.
Kyra POV
"Kyra we get it, you're excited to see Y/n but please sit still! There's still an hour left of the ride before we reach London." Steph groans having had enough of Kyra bouncing in her seat next to her on the plane. Kyra sighs stopping her movements, sitting back in her seat.
"Sorry," Kyra whispers, "Yes I'm excited to see Y/n but something just doesn't feel right. I can't shake this feeling that something bad is going to happen or has happened. To make it worse I can't send or receive texts and calls until we land so I can't reach out to Y/n to try and calm my anxiety." Kyra reveals. Steph looks at the younger girl with a look of sadness, reaching over to wrap her arm around the midfielders shoulder and pulling her into her body. Kyra lets out another sigh this one more shaky as she tries to hold in her sobs from the anxiety rattling her body, resting her head on Steph's shoulder.
"It's okay, I'm sure everything is okay. Like I said we only have about an hour left of the flight. Try and get some rest." Steph whispers, rubbing her hand along Kyra's arm. The younger girl nods leaning into Steph more to try and be able to relax enough to get some sleep. Eventually Steph feels Kyra's breathing even out and lets out a sigh herself hoping she's right in that everything is okay for Kyra. She's never seen the girl like this and she hopes she never has to again.
~~~~~
Y/n POV
"Y/n/n! Wake up!!" Harper yells, jumping on top of me. I groan at the feeling of her foot in my ribs. I turn over wrapping my arms around her, holding her to my chest.
"Shhh, sleepy time," I mumble. I feel her laughing as she wiggles in my hold trying to escape.
"Harps, go join RaRa in the kitchen for breakfast. Y/n/n will be there soon." I hear Katrina say loosening my hold on Harper so she can listen to her mother. My niece sliding out of my arms and running out of the room. I let out a sigh turning onto my back and staring at the ceiling. My view is interrupted when Katrina's face appears in my line of vision. "Nervous?" I nod.
"I'm confident she'll say yes but I still have that sliver of doubt she'll say no. I don't want to lose her Kat," I say emotion present in my voice. I hear Katrina sigh before she moves to lay next to me in the bed. I sit up and shuffle over giving her the space to sit. She wraps her arm around my shoulder pulling my head to rest on her shoulder.
"If I know anything it's that Kyra will say yes to you. She loves you. There is no doubt about that. You will never lose that girl. I'm sure of it." Kat says rubbing my arm. I let out a breath relaxing at the words from my sister.
"Thanks Kat. I needed that," I wrap my arm around her pulling her into a hug. She pulls back a soft smile on her face.
"Of course. You're my baby sister and I love you. There is no reason for her to say no to you. Now Clara and I made breakfast, why don't you get dressed and come eat. You have a few hours before you have to head to the airport." Katrina says standing from the bed, moving towards the door to her guest room.
"As long as Clara cooked and you watched then I'll eat," I joke throwing the covers to the side, rising to my feet and stretching. She rolls her eyes.
"I'm not that bad of a cook, you like some of the things I cook," She says watching as I grab my overnight bag, rifling through it to find clothes to wear for the day.
"Emphasis on the some there Kat," I say tossing my bag to the side with one arm as the other holds the clothes.
"You're an ass Y/n" Kat rolls her eyes not noticing the person hiding by the door.
"RaRa! Mama said a bad word!" Harper yells turning and running towards the kitchen where Clara is with Koby. I look at Kat with a smirk as she smacks her forehead.
"Someone's in trouble," I sing walking towards the ensuite. As I turn to shut the door I see Kat glaring at me.
"That statement rings true Y/n," She says before turning and running after her daughter. "Harper!" I chuckle shutting the door, moving to take a shower.
~~~~~
After I was showered and dressed I made my way to the kitchen for breakfast. I see Koby in his high chair, Kat sat next to him helping Harper eat as Clara finishes up the cooking.
"Morning Y/n! Have a seat, I'll make you a plate," Clara says, a beaming smile present. I smile and nod moving to sit opposite Kat and Harper.
"Y/n/n! Nanna got Koby and I gifts when we went to see them! Want to see!" Harper exclaims. I chuckle and nod.
"Of course! Give me some time and I'll come see what Nanna bought you once I've finished eating. Okay?" I ask, Harper nods eagerly before sliding off the chair and running into the other room. "Thank you Clara. What did Kat cook? I want to know what to avoid," I joke as Clara places a plate of food in front of me. I jump when Kat kicks my leg under the table.
"Watch it," Kat warns, I chuckle as I begin eating.
"What time are you due to pick Kyra up?" Clara asks a few minutes later as she cleans up the kitchen. I finish my last bite and answer.
"She texted me earlier, they are due back around 6 so I'll leave here around 5 to hopefully avoid traffic." I say, standing with my plate to place it in the sink.
"You nervous?" Clara asks, rinsing my dish. I let out a deep breath and nod.
"Very, but Kat helped ease my nerves a little. I was overreacting. Ky and I have been through so much together, I was an idiot for thinking she'd say no," I chuckle, Clara nods, drying the dish and placing it in the cabinet before turning to face me.
"Your sister was right, that girl loves you with everything she has. She won't say no to you." Clara reassures me. I smile and nod giving her a hug.
"Thank you, I'm so happy my sister met you." I say. I feel Clara smile as she gives me a squeeze.
"I'm happy too, she gave me my family to love and brought you into my life. I've never had a better nap than when I'm with you," she jokes laughing. I laugh pushing her away.
"I'm happy to be of service," I joke stepping back, "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go see what my mother bought my niece." I point over my shoulder where Harper is with Kat and Koby.
"Oh you'll love this!" Clara laughs. I give her a confused look before moving into the living room where Kat is sat with Koby on her lap as Harper plays with what looks to be a kids doctor toy set.
"Look Y/n/n!! I'm a doctor! Like you!" Harper yells walking over to me with a white lab coat and a stethoscope around her neck. I kneel down to her level admiring her look.
"Wow! Looking good Harps!" I say bringing her into a hug," Nanna did a good job with your gift huh?" I ask as Harper pulls away from me. Harper nods eagerly.
"Uh huh! She got me these too!" Harper exclaims moving to grab what looks to be bandages and a toy syringe.
"Woah! Now you really are like me! Do you remember how to use this?" I ask pointing at the stethoscope still hanging around her neck. She nods running over to ger her teddy bear and show me.
~~~~~
"I'll see you guys in a couple days for dinner." I say to my sister as I grab my bag from the floor by her front door, looping the strap over my shoulder.
"We will see you and your fiancée then." Kat teases. I roll my eyes pulling her into a hug.
"Thank you," I whisper. Kat gives me a squeeze before she pulls away.
"Go pick up the pest. Enjoy your night together." Kat say giving me a smile. I nod and bid my goodbye to Clara, Harper and Koby before making my way to my car. I throw my bag in the boot, patting my pocket where I have Kyra's ring. A smile on my face at the thought of seeing Kyra and finally proposing to her.
I get in my car and begin my drive to the airport, music softly playing from a playlist Kyra had made. I quietly sing a long to one of the songs before everything goes black.
~~~~~
Kyra POV
"Ky where is your girlfriend? She should have been here by now." Alessia asks me. I let out another sigh as I check my phone for what feels like the hundredth time in the last 5 minutes looking for any message or call from Y/n.
"I don't know. She told me she was leaving Mini's at 5 to avoid traffic. She knew we'd be here around 6. It's almost 6:30, she'd never be this late without letting me know. Let me try Mini. Maybe they got caught up talking and she left late forgetting to call me." I unlock my phone pulling up Mini's contact and pressing the call button. The phone rings twice before someone answers.
"Kyra!" I smile hearing Harper's voice, though a much as I'd love to talk to her I'm too worried about Y/n.
"Hay Harps! Is your mom or RaRa around?" I heard her shuffle around before a new voice is on the phone.
"Hello?" Â
"Clara? Have you or Mini heard from Y/n?" I question quickly. My nerves at a high.
"Kyra? No? She left a little after 5 to avoid traffic to get you at the airport. Is she not there?" Clara questions, worry growing in her voice knowing how uncommon it is for Y/n to be late somewhere.
"No," I choke out, my worry increasing. "I've called her and texted her but her phone goes to voicemail and my texts are going unread. Clara I'm worried. Y/n would never do this," I say on the verge of tears, realizing something must be seriously wrong.
"Okay, I will call a baby sitter and Mini and I will come get you okay. We will figure out where Y/n is and what's going on. I need you to take deep breathes okay Kyra" I nod, forgetting she can't see me before whispering out a 'yes' as I begin to take deep breaths trying to calm my racing heart.
"Ky?" I turn to see Alessia, Leah and Steph looking at me in concern. Y/n was supposed to bring them to their apartments before we went home ourselves. I shake my head, saying a quick goodbye to Clara before hanging up.
"Clara said Y/n left their place a little after 5 and that they haven't heard from her since. Clara is getting a baby sitter then coming to get us." I explain, continuing to take deep breaths. They nod but stay silent having known Y/n long enough to know her being late is not normal.
After waiting a few more minutes my phone rings. I move quick to grab it hoping it's Y/n but instead it's Y/n's work. Why is the hospital calling me?
"Ms. Cooney-Cross?" A voice on the other side asks.
"Yes? This is her." I say confused moving away from the girls, avoiding their questioning looks.
"This is Casey from London General. We have you listed as the emergency contact for Dr. Y/n Gorry. Iâm sorry to tell you but she was in an accidentâŠ" I stopped listening after that trying to wrap my head around what she said, standing in shock on the sidewalk in front of the airport.
"Ky?" I blink seeing Alessia's concerned face in front of me. "What's going on?" I just shake my head. The woman on the phone still talking. Alessia reaches for my phone passing it off to Steph who talks to the woman trying to understand what is going on.
"Y/n - " I cut myself off as a sob escapes me.
"Oh KyâŠ" Alessa rushes forward wrapping me in her arms letting me cry into her shoulder. Her hand runs up and down my back as she whispers quiet reassurances after Steph caught her and Leah up. "Y/n will be okay. She's tough Ky" Alessia whispers as I continue to cry.
"Kyra what's going on? Why are you crying?" I release my hold on Alessia to see Mini stepping out of her car, Clara following from the other side. I rush over wrapping her in a hug continuing to cry. "Woah!" She stumbles but wraps her arms around me any way, rubbing my back to try and comfort me.
"Y/n was in an accident," Steph starts. I hear Mini and Clara gasp as Mini tightens her hold on me. "They wouldn't tell me much, only that she's headed in for surgery. She was brought to London General." Steph explains as I let out another sob, not knowing she was in surgery.
"Okay, Less and Leah grab the bags and put them in the boot. I'll bring you two and Steph home after I drop Mini and Ky at the hospital for Y/n." Clara says gently leading Mini and I to the car.
"We'll stay at the hospital. Y/n is family. We won't leave." Leah says determined, bags in hand. Clara gives her a smile and nods helping Mini and I into the car as the others follow once our bags are in the car.
As Clara starts the drive to the hospital I sit in the back knee bouncing, showing my worry for Y/n. She's tough but she's never been through something like this since we've know each other.
Please be okay Y/n.
~~~~~
I jump out of the car as soon as Clara pulls up to the hospital ER doors running to the reception desk. Mini right behind me.
"I'm looking for Y/n Gorry?" I say as soon as I get to the desk.
"Are you family?" The girl asks.
"I'm her fiancée," I say before I can stop myself. Mini glances at me in confusion before responding herself.
"I'm her older sister," The girls nods before typing on her computer for what feels like forever. I anxiously tap my foot and my finger on the desk waiting for the girl. "Ky, take a deep breath. Y/n will be okay. She has to be," Mini says placing her hand on mine to stop my tapping. I nod.
"Looks like she just got out of surgery. Once she is settled in a room the doctor will come and get you both. Only family is allowed in." the receptionist explains. Mini and I nod before moving to the others who stand and look at us anxiously.
"Well?" Alessia asks when we reach them.
"She's out of surgery. They are putting her in a room then someone will come get us so we can see her. The receptionist says family only." Mini explains.
"You guys can go. It was a long flight. Mini and I will send you an update when we hear more." I say taking a sear next to where Mini sat.
"Absolutely not. Like we said before Y/n is family. We will wait here as long as we need to." Steph says, Leah and Alessia nodding in agreement. Steph moves to kneel in front of where I'm sitting. Placing her hands on my knees, crouching to be eye level with me. " I will wait as long as I need. Besides she's the only one that can reign you in, ya pest." Steph jokes. I let out a laugh, through my tears, pulling her into a hug.
"Thank you Stephy," I whisper. She pats my back before pulling away, a soft smile on her face.
"Always, You annoy me but I still love you," She presses a kiss to my forehead before standing to sit with Leah and Alessia.
"Y/n Gorry?" A man in a white lab coat calls, reading off a clipboard. All of us jump and move towards him. "Woah! I was told her fiancée and sister are here. I can only speak with them." He clarifies. Mini and I step forward.
"Sister," Mini says raising her hand.
"Fiancée," I say raising my own ignoring the looks from the others. The man nods.
"I'm Dr. Cursor, I handled Dr. Gorry's surgery. Please, follow me." He turns moving to a set of doors. He scans his badge to open one of the doors, holding it open, allowing us in. "Dr. Gorry suffered a concussion and three cracked ribs, one of which punctured her lung, which is why she needed the surgery. We lost her once but as you know she is a fighter. The rest of the surgery went great. She is still asleep but should wake up in a few hours. You guys are more than welcome to stay as long as you'd like." Dr. Cursor explains stopping outside a room. I nod though I didn't hear much of what he said after 'lost her once'.
"Thank you Doctor." I hear Mini say before she opens the door to the room. I gasp seeing my Y/n laid there on the bed looking so lifeless. Tears roll down my cheeks as I move to stand next to Y/n. I slowly take her hand in my, brushing my thumb over her knuckles.
"Oh Y/n/n." I whisper. I lean down and press a kiss to her forehead, stepping back to sit in the chair next to her bed.
"She's okay Ky," Mini says placing her hand on my shoulder.
"She died," is all I say. I hear Mini sigh as she moves to sit on Y/n's other side.
"She didâŠbut she came back to us. She's still here." Mini says, sounding like she's trying to convince not only me but also herself. "She's still here," she whispers.
~~~~~
Y/n POV
I hear a faint beeping sound as I begin to wake up. My eyes are heavy as I try to open them, though I slam them shut at the bright lights in the room. I blink quickly trying to get rid of the heaviness in my eyes and also adjust to the lights. Once my vision is clear I take note of the hospital room I'm in. In addition to the beeping I hear soft snores from my right, turning I see Katrina laid back in the hospital room chair fast asleep, a thin blanket covering her. I smile at the sight. Turning to my left my smile grows when I see Kyra laying with her head on my arm and her hand wrapped in mine. That explains the numbness in my arm. I give Kyra's hand a squeeze moving my right arm slowly towards her before gasping at the pain that shoots through my body. Kyra and Katrina shooting up at the sound.
"Y/n!" They both exclaim.
"I'll go get the doctor," Kat says squeezing my shoulder softly before stepping out of the room, leaving Kyra and I alone.
Once Kat is gone I make eye contact with Kyra. I frown seeing more tears building in her eyes. I reach up, ignoring the pain to brush away the tears that fell.
"Oh my love," I whisper reaching up to pull her into me. She breaks as she clings on to me. I rub her back trying to calm her. "It's okay. I'm okay Ky. I'm here." I whisper, as she continues to cry in my neck.
"You died," She whispers as she pulls away, cupping my face in her hands. I close my eyes leaning into her touch. I open my eyes to brush away the tears on her face, before leaning forward pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"I'm so sorry my love, I - " I'm cut off as the door opens and Dr. Cursor walks in. Katrina in tow. I lean back in the bed from Kyra, but move to grab her hand, knowing she needs the comfort as much as I do.
"Good to see you awake doctor." he exclaims walking to the monitor by my bed. "How's your pain level?" he asks, writing notes on his clipboard.
"5" I grit out, he nods and starts to write that down. I wince when Kat hits my foot, followed by Kyra lightly smacking the back of my head. "Ow!"
"Tell the truth," Kyra says, Kat nodding in agreement. I roll my eyes.
"Yes ma'amâŠthe pain is at a 9." I sigh. He nods, "I also have a headache. What happened to me?" I question realizing I have no idea how I ended up in a hospital bed.
"Well what do you remember?" Dr. Cursor asks. I go quiet trying to wrack my brain for what happened.
"All I remember is I left Kat's place after 5 to be able to pick up Ky and a few of the other girls, thenâŠit's all black." I say laying back in the bed, taking a deep breath to try and alleviate some of the pain in my head. I feel Kyra brush her thumb along my hand trying to provide some comfort.
"You were struck by a drunk driver. They hit the passenger side of your car but your car flipped from the speed at which he hit you. You have a concussion and three broken ribs. Once punctured your lung so you went into emergency surgery. You coded once but we were able to bring you back. You've been out for a few hours from the anesthesia. Your sister and fiancée have been here with you since you got out of surgery." I look at Kat in panic at the word fiancée, but she shakes her head with a soft smile. Dr. Cursor doesn't notice as he continues speaking, finishing up his checks. "I'll be back in a couple hours to see how you're doing. I upped your morphine so you should be in less pain." He says before leaving the room.
"F-fiancée?" I question.
"Uhm, they would only let family in your room so I said I was your fiancée so they'd let me in," Kyra explains playing with my fingers. A nervous habit she has. I look at Kat who nods confirming what Kyra had said, letting out a breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Speaking of, the others are still in the waiting room. I'll go let them know you are awake and double-check if you are allowed non-family visitors," Kat says. She moves towards me taking both my hands in hers, Kyra letting out a whine at the loss of contact with me, before putting something in my hand. "You got this," She whispers pressing a kiss to my forehead. I nod giving her a grateful smile as I feel the ring intended for Kyra in my hand. Kyra looks at me in confusion having heard Kat's words.
"You got what?" She asks. I smile and holding her hand in mine before taking a deep breath.
"When we met I knew you'd be the one for me. The way you brought out my chaos and the way I reigned in some of yours I knew we were perfect for each other. I had something planned a bit more our style but we are nothing if not spontaneous, soâŠwith that said Kyra Lillee Cooney-Cross, will you marry me?" I ask holding out her ring in the palm of my hand. She looks at me in shock, before nodding her head.
"Of course I will!" She exclaims grabbing my face and bringing me into a searing kiss. I smile holding her waist in my hands as best I can with our current positions. I pull back when air is needed, resting my forehead on hers. "I love you," she whispers. I smile pressing another kiss to her lips.
"I love you too. Now I believe this belongs to you," I say holding her left hand in one of mine as I slide her engagement ring on her ring finger with the other.
"It's perfect," she whispers. I look into her eyes and smile.
"So are you, my love." I whisper pulling her into another kiss. We are cut off by cheers coming from the door. We part and see Katrina, Clara, Alessia, Leah and Steph standing at my hospital room door, smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes as they move further into the room
"Finally!!" Katrina exclaims, causing the others including Kyra and I to laugh. "Welcome to the family officially pest," Kat says wrapping an arm around Kyra's shoulder.
"I couldn't ask for a better one," Kyra says, squeezing my hand. I smile and bring her in for another kiss, ignoring the teasing from those in the room. "I love you," she whispers to me again.
"I love you too," I whisper back.

No one ever holds me | Kyra Cooney-Cross x Reader
5k celebration prompt: "No one ever holds me."
Woso masterlist | Words: 1k
-----
The first match in the SheBelieves Cup didnât exactly go as planned. A 4-0 loss against Japan was not how you wanted to start the competition. All day, you had been beating yourself up about the loss, replaying moments in your head and wondering what you could have done differently.Â
To get some distraction from those thoughts you had opened your social media. Not a good idea you had figured out twenty minutes later.
What had started as just scrolling through your feed, ended in a deepdive on the comments placed on your and the teamâs posts about the match. Originally thinking it would be nice to see some loving and supportive comments from the fans. While at first you were seeing a bunch of those supportive messages, you had scrolled a little far.
A few negative comments about the teamâs performance you could just read and a shake off, but then you stumbled upon comments about your performance. Your defending wasnât good enough. You werenât fast enough. You made mistakes. You let your team down.
Normally you don't let negative comments get to you, because they are just people hiding behind their screens, but after the tough loss, their words cut deep.
You couldnât stop thinking about the comments. Going over and over them in your head, back to replaying the match, analysing everything you did wrong, and where you could have done better. It took a long time, but eventually exhaustion won, and you fell into a restless sleep.
When morning came, you woke up still exhausted. You had twisted and turned all night long. Your mind clouded with the game, still you got up, went to training, and forced a smile onto your face.
Your teammates didnât need to know how much you were struggling. To them, you were always the happy, bubbly, and cheerful one. Better to fake a smile than let them see anything less.
It seemed you were hiding your struggles well. None of your teammates were questioning you either verbally or with their eyes, so you kept moving. The ache in your chest followed you all through training, but you tried to push it down.
Without you noticing, Kyraâs eyes had been on you all training. Something wasnât right, she could tell that even from the other side of the pitch. Your smile didnât reach your eyes, you seemed distracted during drills, and while you were smiling, she didnât see you joke around like you usually did.
She tried reaching out while you were standing next to each other waiting for the next drill a couple of times, but each time you were conveniently just adjusting your shirt, shorts, or your hair, effectively dodging Kyraâs hand.
Kyra was sure then that something was wrong. The two of you had only been dating for a couple of months, but she had noticed you pushed people away when you werenât feeling good.Â
She stayed quiet during training, but when the team was heading back to the locker room, and she noticed you halting your step to walk behind everyone else, she slowed down her pace to walk with you.Â
âHey,â She said softly as she reached out again. This time you turned your body quickly, acting as if you were checking something behind you. âAre you okay?âÂ
âIâm fine,â You replied too quickly. âJust tired.â You finished with a forced grin. Kyra frowned, it couldnât just be that. âYou sure?â
You nodded with another smile that didnât quite reach your eyes. Kyra was trying to get in, but it was just making you put up your walls higher. A pattern you had perfected over the years. No need to burden others with your struggles. No need to let the people you love see any version of you other than the happy one they know and love. It was easier this way. Fake a smile, push through, and be the person everyone expects you to be.
Usually the walls and facades worked, but Kyra saw right through them.
After lunch with the team, you slipped away unnoticed. You needed to be away from them for a bit, needed some space.Â
You walked outside and sat down on the steps that led to the dining room. With your hands clenched into fists, and your chest tight, you stared off into the distance. You wanted to cry, but your tears werenât coming.
With your head full of thoughts, you hadnât heard Kyra approach until she sat down besides you. She didnât say anything, but she let her knee brush lightly against yours.Â
âI just needed a minute.â You say after youâve gathered yourself a bit. âYou donât have to do this alone, you know?âÂ
You did, you had to do it alone. Youâve always had to do it alone. Her being here didnât change that. You had to take care of yourself, thatâs how it had always been. âIâm fine.â You tell her.
âYou donât have to be fine either.â Kyra said while placing her hand on your knee.
Your eyes are fixed to her hand on your leg, not used to someone reaching out. Probably why youâve been avoiding her trying the other times today. Then you let your eyes move up to meet hers and before you could stop them, the tears came.
Silent at first, but as soon as they started flowing, all your emotions came crashing down. On instinct you turned away from Kyra, curling into yourself and hiding your emotions from her. But Kyra wasnât having it.
She reached for you, wrapping her arms around your shaking body, and pulling you close before she could protest. You stiffened in her hold at first, not used to someone holding you when youâre sad, because you always pull away.Â
Kyra didnât let go though and wasnât planning on letting go until you did. But to her surprise you didnât pull away. She held you through it all, your quiet sobs and your body trembling against hers. Then you let your body take over, and leaned into her.
Once your tears slowed, you whispered, "No one ever holds me." into her chest. Kyra let one of her arms go and moved it over your back in a comforting pattern. âIf you donât push me away, I will always hold you.â

Engagement bliss
Leah Williamson x arnold!reader

âYouâre gonna call me when you can yeah?â Leah asked as she held both your hands while you leaned into her body. You were both saying goodbye to each other as you were travelling to Florida with your Australian teammates for camp, while Leah would stay in England for Lionessesâs Camp.
Your first camp engaged.
As well as hers, but her first camp back since her ACL injury, you were on the edge of tears at the thought of how proud you were.
âOf course I always doâ you said pulling her arms down slightly towards you that held yours, placing a long kiss on her lips
âDonât loose it ay?â Leah said with a cheeky smile, pulling your left hand up in between your close met faces. Tapping the shiny ring on your finger.
âI wonât. Promise. Ditto yeah?â You said now holding up her hand with the ring you gave to her after she proposed. She interlocked both the hands that were up and kissed your knuckles. âProud of youâ you said softly. Maybe for the 10th time just this morning
âThank you. Iâm proud of you, always, but you know thatâ she said shrugging with a grin.
âOkay I should goâ you said looking at your Watch, âI love youâ you said kissing her again, lips lingering longer.
âLove you miss you alreadyâ Leah said, causing your face to scrunch up at the corny comment, you pulled away from her embrace and grabbed your suitcase she had wheeled in for you. You blew her a kiss before you walked up to Steph, Caitlin, Charli, Kyra and MacKenzie, your âLondon Aussiesâ.
âFucks sake Throw me in front of a speeding truck alreadyâ Kyra groaned, dreading the upcoming flight, as you all walked towards your terminal
âOh?â You and Steph said, concern and confusion.
âItâs just 9 and a half hours darlingâ you said rubbing the young girlâs head roughly.
âCome on pick up the paceâ Caitlin said to the group, skipping, as you were all walking too slow the for the given time left you had the catch boarding
âI canâtâ you said slowly as you yawned.
âLeahâs excited Iâm assuming?â Your sister Mackenzie asked about Leahâs return to England Camp.
âOver the moonâ you smiled as you nodded âI donât know why she was sappier than usual about me leaving. While sheâs barely gonna even think about me in campâ
âPlease, The girlâs engaged and captaining England again. Yeah sheâs on camp but I promise you she wonât stop thinking about youâ she assured you as you both smiled. âFar out Iâm gonna get so many messages from that girl, frantic, because she canât reach youâ you both laughed, reminiscing the multiple times that had happened.
âThatâs because you always tell her Iâve been kidnapped or something!â âItâs funny!â

ââââââââââââ
You could feel your body starting to give itself out slowly as you grew tired. You had been running some basic drills as you and your national team settled into the first session of the camp.
The Florida weather was nice, felt a bit more like home compared to England, but nothing like the Australian warm weather. You were excited at the reminder that you, Macca, Lani, Caitlin and Hayley would all head to the beach as soon as possible after training.
As you anticipated, all of your teammates that didnât live in London and could not make it to your engagement dinner were fawning over your ring. Them just as excited as you. The Matildaâs media photographer had gotten you and Ellie to pose with your left hands up for a photo with both your rings.
Heaps of your national trainers commented on the fact that the engagement was radiant on your face and your energy was through the roof, causing you to smile ear to ear.
By the end the session, you were playing a game of 5-aside oztag. You had yourself, Sharn, Teagan, Michelle and Hayley on your team.
âGames over!â You exclaimed laying on the ground, when Caitlin had shoved you to the ground for the 10th time in the 20 minute game.
âSore loser!â Caitlin yelled as she kicked the ball to your head before you quickly rolled away to dodge Caitlinâs good aim.
âThatâs not even how you playâ You yelled to your best friend as she made her way back from the try line.
âYes it isâ She laughed, whilst Michelle helped you off the ground.
âGreat job today girls. Have a good afternoon Iâll see you tonightâ Tony smiled at you all, letting you know you could head back to the bus.
On the bus you were leaned against the window, legs sprawled out against both seats in the row. Talking to Alanna who sat across from you in the same position. âIâm sorry again I couldnât make it to your dinner last weekâ she smiled at you.
âAre you kidding me. I understand completely. Getting to see you here is just as amazing for meâ
Alanna just laughed. Causing you to scrunch your eyebrows at her, you had only said something sweet.
âYou sound so much like herâ she laughed
âWho Leah?â You smiled
âYes!â
âHowâ you couldnât help but laugh
âThe accent. You sound English now! Youâre picking up on her too much. Donât be turning English on us now y/nâ you both laughed. âNo but it was a nice offer from her for your dinner. And I love the fact that she told me she was going to propose before she didâ Lani grinned.
âDid she actuallyâ you said smiling
âYes! She made a group chatâ she said walking over to you, shifting your legs so they were now on top of her thighs and she took up the seat. Pulling out her phone to show you.

Mackenzie
WHAT THIS IS NEWS
Alanna
OMG
Caitlin
HUH I ANTICIPATED A MONTH
You couldnât help but laugh at the small group chat your girlfriend has created. The texts managed to go on past your engagement when Mackenzie shared a video of the moment all of your teammates saw you and became obsessed with the ring. Which turned into them ganging up on you about something else, âHang onâ you stopped Lani from scrolling
âUh uh!â She shoved her phone away making you both laugh.
âYou better add me to that chat!â
âNeverâ
âââââââââââ
âCmon!â you squealed. Pulling Caitlinâs hand as you both sprinted down the sand, Hayley filming the sweet moment. The sunset was electric and perfect. Around 10 of your teammates were already on the beach on a large blanket. Taking loads of photographs of the scenery surrounding you that you had all missed.
After 20 minutes of laying on Kyraâs lap and enjoying the water in front of you, talking with the people you missed most. The left pocket of your shorts started to buzz.
You immediately knew it was your fiancĂ©, so you picked the phone up as you got up and walked away from the group. Every single one of them mocking the way you blushed and picked up the phone saying âhey babyâ.
âShove it up your assâ You yelled back at them as the mocking didnât stop. You heard Leahâs warm chuckle on the other side of the phone.
âWho was thatâ she asked
âMost of the girls. They are mocking the way I talk to youâ you said into the phone making you both laugh. âTell me everything! Photos arenât enoughâ
Leah talked on for ages about how camp was going for her. Friends, trainings, rooming alone, being engaged at camp, travel and the âtoo spicyâ food. The more she talked the more she managed the full your heart even more.
âWhat about you?â Iâve talked enoughâ
âOh my girl I could listen to you for mothsâ you said softly âyeah itâs great. Iâm very excited to play on Monday. Everyone is ready alreadyâ you said before hearing a few moments of silence on her end of the call âLeah?â
She just laughed
âWhat?â
âI was sent a video of you from a group chat of me, your sister, Alanna and Caitlin. Youâre Looking relaxed on the beach thereâ Leah chuckled
âThat damn group chat!â You exclaimed. âAdd me to it! Iâve got fomoâ
You did happen to be laying on the sand, by yourself, phone pressed up to your ear. In sight of your cheeky teammates. You sat up slightly to give them your middle finger.
âNo we have a truce. We canât add you. You donât have fomo, you just donât want us talking about youâ
âYeah fomo!â You said making her laugh again, â and a truce?!â
âHavenât lost the ring yet darling?â Leah said in that tone that could send you spinning
âNup. Iâm staring at it right now. Hoping you have yours onâ
âOf courseâ she said
âI understand what everyone means. You really just canât stop staring at it. Like itâs not even the ring itâs like the fact that itâs my engagement ring. From youâ
âI canât keep my eyes off of it. How could I. Itâs a symbol of youâ Leah said softly
âI love you. I need to go now they are packing up cause itâs dark now. I miss you Lee, Iâm proud of you like you donât even knowâ
âIâm proud of you. You call me when you get up in the morning. Iâll be sure to be awake. Love you, miss youâ
âByeâ you both said before hanging up and you made your way up to the group that were half way up the beach waiting for you, you smiling in appreciation of it at them.
âââââââââââ
Leah
âHave you gotten the photos back?â Georgia asked me as I refreshed my email account on my laptop for the hundredth time.
âNo. And itâs kind of frustrating. Heâs taking a week longer than he said he wouldâ
âWhat photos are we talking about?â Mary asked
âThe professional photos from Leahâs engagement. They are taking too long apparentlyâ Keira explained
âMates probably sold them to the internet firstâ Mary shrugged
âDonât joke about thatâ i laughed, worry lingering in my tone
âI thought you wanted the moment to be super private?â Mary asked
âNo it was. There was no one else. He came like 20 minutes later, as well as our families. I managed to surprise y/n with herâsâ I grinned at the thought of the moment as I explained to the three girls at the table
âWell Iâm very excited to see themâ Keira said
Me and y/n announced our engagement on our instagram via a simple selfie we took together just 10 minutes after I got down on one knee. She laughed brightly in the photo as we both held our hands with the rings up for the camera, me kissing her cheek, and a tear stained face y/n. As well as me posting a small snippet of the moment I first asked her. I had set my phone down to video, somehow without her batting an eye. We are both all for living in the moment.
But honestly, I knew getting to look back on it in a video would be so special with her.
We agreed we couldnât keep it in for too long the next day, so could not possibly wait for the professional photos taken. Just two very excited people.
ââââââââââ
Y/n
While your Australian Captain and close friend Sam had unfortunately done her ACL, as was still out. You had been given the position to Captain your country whilst her injury. You would also officially Captain your country at the Olympics in July and August.
You were called up alongside Tony for MD-1 press conferences at camp whilst being captain. And you actually really enjoyed them.
âReady y/n?â Tony asked as you got out of the car and were walking into the stadium. Pulling a thumbs up to the camera crew following you both for the Matildaâs all-access video.
When you were both later settled into the conference room, you shuffled your chair in closer to the microphone before it began. Questions were at first fired at Tony, on camp call up describes and inside training decisions made by the staff.
The first question that was directed to you made you smiled when the short lady started âHello y/n, just wanted to start by congratulating you and Leah on your engagement last weekâ she smiled up at you
You laughed slightly and smiled wide back âThank you very much I appreciate itâ you nodded, motioning her to continue with the question before she asked you about the preparations in the team and how the team feels about being in sunny Florida.
âAnd also the team just- well you know we are coming from all around the world I would say, different seasons. And I know, coming from cold London that it is such a refresher being in this weather for walking around and relaxing purposes I guessâ
âAnd training purposes Iâm hoping?â Tony asked, making the room laugh
âThatâs the most important one yesâ You laughed
After 15 minutes, as the conference was soon to be closed. You got asked a question mentioning your engagement once again. âItâs your first camp being engaged. How does that feel?â
You tried to keep professional and not focus on your own relationship too much, âYeah the support is real with this team, always is, and it radiates off the happy feeling we all get when we fly to camp. Itâs all been, exciting for me and some of the girls have said the same to me so thatâs a nice feelingâ you said nodding towards her sweetly
âIâm hoping from y/n, this gives her a happy boost to get heaps of goals in on Sunday!â Tony says to you making you laugh and agree.
âWe will end it there if there are no more questions, thank you everyoneâ the media manager announced
âThank youâ you mumbled quietly into your microphone before stepping out of the chair.
Receiving a text from your fiancé one you reached the car outside the stadium waiting to take you back to the hotel.
Leah
Spoken like a true Captain
Y/n
How did u watch that?
Leah
YouTube live darlingđ
Y/n
Iâll be sure to watch yours then
ââââââââââ
You had played both games against Mexico and were leaving the hotel for the airport. It was 2am and safe to say the last thing you were in the middle for was getting on a nearly 10 hour flight. But the idea of Leah picking you up and getting to spend time with her at the end of the day motivated you not just fall asleep and miss your flight.
âY/nnnnâ Caitlin sung out as she opened your door. Bag of chips in her hand from the vending machine. âTime to go!â
âI could have been changingâ you said, unplugging your phone charger from the wall
âMmâ Caitlin nodded, mouth full of chips âyou should consider locking thisâ she tapped the door handle behind her before reaching for your suit case to wheel it out of the room, you following behind the your other bag as you closed the door.
12 hours later, you were finally out of security after they had to open your bag as hey suspected something. Which they were wrong about and apologised. And took out 10 minutes of your time.
All was pushed off your shoulders when you saw your favourite person standing in her jeans, your sweater, her favourite cream Uniqlo bag and a yellow bouquet of flowers in her hand.
It was a tradition for both of you whether Leah was at her own camp or not, she would greet you with a different colour of flowers and open arms at the airport when you reached London once again after camp.
You picked up the pace on your feet before letting go of your suitcase and jumping into her arms, sealing both your lips together with a kiss. Before she hugged you even tighter with a smile as you nuzzled your head into her neck, kissing her shoulder.
âI missed youâ you said kicking your feet like a toddler in your fiancĂ©âs arms, which she always found adorable and drove her crazy
âIâm sure I missed you moreâ she smiled before stealing your lips again and setting you down
âHmm noâ you said. Before she handed you the bouquet. âI love you. Thank youâ
âMy honourâ she patted her chest in a jokingly matter, before you wrapped your arms around her neck again and kissing her for longer, and most definitely not for the last time that evening. âHey youâve still got itâ she said softly as she held your left hand and caressing the finger the ring laid on.
You nodded with a smile whilst Leah wheeled your suitcase to her car as you walked. âIâm starvingâ you said watching her lift the suitcase into the trunk before you both settled inside the car.
âGood thing there is food in the back seatâ you grinned, Leah turning on the car, you shot your head to the back seat to be met with nothing but some rubbish from Leah that had been there for weeks.
âWhere?â You asked
âIâm jokingâ she mumbled before you slapped her shoulder hard âow Iâm about to driveâ Leah whined
âThatâs not funny!â You laughed
âYouâre right itâs not. Letâs go get food nowâ Leah smiled at you sweetly and rubbing your thigh whilst she drove.
âFine with me!â You smiled contently before grabbing the hand that rested on you before bringing it to your lips and kissing it âthank you fiancĂ©â
Leah chuckled at the comment, making her cheeks warm up âthat wonât stop until we actually get married will it?â She said
âNahâ

Steph

Beth

Steph
I think I'm in love with her.
Jen

RIGHT?
Beth

Steph

Jen
are you absolutely sure about your feelings for her?
The next day
Steph
girls, I obviously meant it platonically. Sorry, I was a bit tipsy last nightđ
Jen
drunk people and children always tell the truth.
Beth
you two should talk about this.                         Â
Steph
we're on vacation.
Jen
yeah, perfect opportunity for it
Ever since your started playing for the Matildas youth teams, you and Steph had been best friends. You were roommates at every game, you were the first person that got to meet Calvin when he was still a puppy and of course, the two of you would go on vacation together to switch off from the stress of football.
This year, Steph had booked a beautiful hotel with a huge pool for the two of you. Your room overlooked the ocean, and you were completely in awe when you first walked in.
In fact, you still were mesmerized by the beautiful view a few days later when you got ready to go down to the pool. You pulled an oversized shirt over your bikini and turned towards Steph who sat on her bed, frantically typing on her phone.
âCome on, Steph. Time to go down to the pool, the weather is perfect.â
âIâm coming in a sec.â, she said, her gaze still on her phone.
You gathered your stuff for the pool, throwing a towel over your shoulder: âOkay.â
Steph finished typing and turned off her phone: âIâm ready.â
âPerfect. Letâs go.â, you smiled as the two of you made your way to the pool.
It was still empty, the blue water glimmered temptingly in the midday sun, inviting you in. You dropped all your stuff on a deckchair and without hesitation jumped in.
Steph stared at you in surprise as you emerged back to the surface. You grinned at her, pushing your wet hair back. She looked so shocked, she must have missed that you had just jumped in.
She shook her head in disbelief but a smile softened her features.
âIs it cold?â, she asked?
âNo, very refreshing.â, you laughed, splashing some water into her direction.
She quickly pulled her feet back to avoid getting wet.
âMaybe Iâll come in too.â
âYou should!â
Steph got up from her deckchair and in contrast to you, used the ladder to get into the pool. Halfway in, the cold water hit her calves and with a shriek, she climbed back out.
You immediately burst into laughter. One of the toughest players that you knew and she still couldnât handle cold water.
âYouâre such a liar!â, Steph yelled and gave you reproachful look.
âSorry but your face was so worth it.â, you wheezed.
âHate you.â, she pouted jokingly.
âNo, you donât.â, you smiled, pushing yourself out of the pool.
She shook her head: âNo, I donât.â
âSee.â, you grinned as you walked over to her, your arms outstretched and dripping water on the concrete.
Steph cursed under her breath as you pulled her into a very wet hug: âEw, youâre dripping water everywhere!â
âSorry not sorry.â
She rolled her eyes with fondness and moved her clothes in a pile from the deckchair so it wouldnât get wet: âYouâre so annoying.â
âExcuse me? Iâm not as annoying as Kyra.â, you laughed and sat down next to her.
âNo oneâs as annoying as that little pest.â, Steph countered. Even in her pretended annoyance her love for the younger teammate shimmered through. They really were like mother and daughter sometimes.
âYou love her too though.â, you smiled at her before your face turned serious.
After a pause you changed the topic. âCan we talk about last night?â
âYou mean when I almost kissed you?â, she asked cautiously in return.
âYes.â, you nodded slowly.
Not looking into your eyes, your best friend glanced at her fingernails instead.
âThat was dumb.â, Steph muttered under her breath.
âBest friends donât do that.â, you remarked calmly.
âI told you; it was nothing.â, the defender insisted fiercely.
âWhat if..â, you started carefully but were immediately interrupted by your friend.
âWhat if what? Is this one of those but what if we kissed as a joke things?â, she huffed.
âNo, Iâd never joke about such things.â, you stated firmly.
âWait? What are you trying to say?â, Steph gave you a look you couldnât quite interpret.
âI donât want to ruin our friendship.â, you mumbled.
âThatâs why you didnât kiss me last night? Thatâs why you pulled back when I tried to kiss you?â, your friend pressed on, biting her lip anxiously.
âYes and call me old school but you were tipsy and I didnât want you to regret it.â, you smiled weakly.
âI.. thatâs very sweet of you.â, she replied softly.
âBut would you like to kiss me?â, you asked her, your heart pounding hard against your chest. It was a question which potentially could change your friendship forever.
âI think I do.â, Steph admitted, putting a loose hair string back behind her ear.
âMe too.â, you confessed nervously.
âYou do?â, she glanced at you surprised.
âYes.â, you confirmed, sounding sincere.
âI guess we should then.â, your best friend grinned shily.
âI agree.â You could hear her stomach growl, so you quickly added with a smirk on your lips. âMaybe we should have dinner first.â Â
âPlease.â, Steph answered while you walked hand in hand to the restaurant inside the hotel.
âThat was so delicious, and the dessert was perfect.â, you sighed happily, once you both had finished your dinner.
âAgreed, it was really good.â, the defender said.
âCan I?â, you have begun almost timidly. The anticipation for the first real kiss has risen for you two over the course of the three courses meal, it was nearly unbearable. You were so hungry for the touch of your friends soft and sweet lips. Waiting for her reply.
âYes.â, Steph said quietly.
That was all it needed, you leaned forward and kissed her gently and carefully. You pulled away after a few seconds, searching for any hint in your best friends face. âAnd? What do you think?â
Steph bit her lip with a smile, her eyes sparkling in excitement: âCan I try again?â
âPlease.â, you laughed. This time you let her initiate the kiss.
Stephs lips found yours with impatience and a sense of urgency. This kiss lasted longer, it was more passionate.
âI like it!â, Steph decided as she ended the kiss abruptly.
âI like it too.â, you grinned.
You noticed that she was still staring at your lips.
âI never kissed anyone that tastes so good.â, she admitted.
You couldnât help yourself, you had to reference the Matildasâ iconic warm up song which was also Stephs favourite song of all time: âStrawberry kisses.â
âNothingâs as sweet, the taste still drives me crazy.â, she sang the lyrics.
âSuch a good song, I hope weâll hear it at the Olympics.â
Steph looked at you like you had gone crazy for a moment: âOf course we will!â
You grinned at her: âOf course. Youâll play it.â
âExactly.â, she confirmed, lost in thoughts while her fingertips reached for yours.
This yearâs vacation must have been your favourite so far. There were many more kisses after your very first one, slow mornings in the hotel bed and lazy touches in the afternoon sun.
The memories of your holidays followed you to the Matildas training camp a few days later.
As usual, you arrived with Steph. Only this time, there was more between you than just friendship.
You felt like you were constantly grinning, like all your teammates would know immediately by just looking at you.
But there was no time to greet the other player as you were knocked off balance by Kyra who pulled you and Steph into a hug: âMissed my mums!â
You frowned at her but laughed: âMini is over there. She is your mum.â
You pointed towards Katrina with Harper sitting in her lap.
Kyra rolled her eyes: âYes, butâŠâ
She didnât have to finish her sentence, you understood.
âSheâs busy with her two small children?â
âYeah.â, Kyra pouted playfully.
Steph gently stroked the younger players hair: âPoor pest.â
You met Stephs gaze with a grin and shrugged: âI guess itâs our turn to babysit, babe.â
âBabe?!â, Kyra and Caitlin both echoed simultaneously.
Kyra pulled out of the hug to study the two of you with excited, curious eyes while Caitlins face was pure bewilderment.
Steph bit her lip and reached for your hand: âI donât think I have to explain this, right?â
âYes, you do!â, Caitlin disagreed, impatient to get the full story.
âIt just happened.â, Steph offered her short version of events which earned her an eye roll from Caitlin.
âSo, you two are not only best friends but girlfriends now?!â, Kyra gasped dramatically.
âYes. Sheâs, my girlfriend.â, your lover confirmed, smiling proudly at you.
âWow, thatâs amazing.â, Caitlin yelled excitedly.
âThanks, Caitlin.â, you gave her a grateful smile.
âSo that happens when two best friends go on a vacation together.â, Mackenzie commented with a huge grin on her lips.
âMore like when two people who had a crush on each other for years go on a vacation together.â, you corrected her.
âAnd who were too afraid to ruin such an old friendship.â, Steph added, looking at you lovingly.
âMy favourite idiots in love.â, Alanna sighed, moved.
âLani, weâre not idiots.â, you protested smirking.
âYouâre a bit.â, the Portland Thorns goalkeeper disagreed amused, referring to for how long it took the two of you to realize that you don't want each other like best friends. There always have been something more than friendship and your teammates saw that all along.
âBut only a bit.â, you replied.
âAs long as you finally figured it out.â, Caitlin intervened soothingly.
âThatâs so cute but can we all get ready for training now.â, Tony Gustavsson requested smiling.
âUgh, Tony.â, the youngest Arsenal player groaned.
While the training begun you thought to yourself that were was nothing better than to be on that football journey together with your friends and the love of your life.

Request | Masterlist | Prompt list
Warning pregnancy, morning sickness, labour and delivery, chaotic birth
Summary You life turns upside down when you look at the stick, however, youâve got the best people to help you
It had been a hard training session.
The sun had been blazing down, the heat sweltering and a lot of running had been involved.
You hadnât been feeling too well when you woke up and after all the running, you definitely didnât feel well.
It was the opening match of the Womenâs World Cup in two days time so you had to be fit and well for then.
You were seventeen and heading to a World Cup in your home country.
It was daunting but so exhilarating at the same time.
As nervous as you were, you had the best people and teammates around you, calming you and your nerves.
It was your dream to play for your country in a World Cup so you were going to make sure you were well enough to play.
That thought came crashing down very quickly when you sprinted for the toilets.
You got there just in time, throwing your head in the toilet and emptying your stomach.
A hand rested on your back, rubbing it gently.
Turning round, you were met with your Australian and Arsenal teammate, Caitlin foord.
Caitlin was like the big sister you never had.
In your eyes, she was your big sister, and in her eyes, you were her annoying little sister that she loved more than anything.
In fact, you were so close, that you lived together in London.
âItâs okay, bug. Iâm here.â Caitlin whispered, using your nickname sheâd given you when you first met that now everyone used.
You flushed the toilet, before leaning back against the wall.
âYou said you didnât feel well this morning, didnât you? Are you gonna be okay for the match?â Caitlin questioned, resting the back of her hand against your forehead.
âI have to be.â You said, feeling your stomach churning again.
âBug, Iâm not having you play if youâre sick. Letâs go see the medics.â
âItâs probably just the sun. Iâll be perfect byââ Before you could even finish, you were lunging forward to the toilet.
âIs everything okay? I saw Y/N run â oh, bug.â Mini began, walking into the toilets. Your team mum seeing you hunched over the toilet with Caitlin rubbing your backs
âIâm gonna take her to see the medical team. She complained this morning she wasnât feeling well.â Caitlin explained to Mini as she continued to run your back.
You flushed the toilet again, this time for the last time.
Caitlin and Mini helped you to the medical room both of them sitting down and waiting with you for your âdiagnosisâ.
You told them all your symptoms and gave a urine sample before laying on the bed and staring into space.
âY/N, I think I know whatâs wrong. Would you like Caitlin and Katrina to be in here with you or would you prefer to be alone?â The team medic asked, looking between you and Caitlin and mini.
You have a confused look, before deciding.
âThey can stay.â
âY/N, youâre pregnant.â
The room fell silent.
âNo⊠I canât be. Thereâs a mistake. Iâm only seventeen. Let me take another.â You panicked, tears threatening to fall.
âWe ran three different pregnancy tests. Youâre definitely pregnant.â The medic showed you the three tests, all of them with the word pregnant on.
âBugâŠâ Caitlin whispered, engulfing you in a hug as you sobbed.
Mini came round your other side, hugging you too.
There goes your chances of playing on Saturday.
â
It had been four hours and you hadnât spoken to anyone.
Caitlin and Mini got you up to your room, leaving you there to think alone.
You were thinking about everything and anything.
How far along were you?
What are you gonna tell your parents?
Just everything.
You tried working out the first question.
You broke up with your boyfriend 4 weeks ago. It was in a heated argument when you shouted that you were breaking up with him. So at a guess, you were about five weeks.
As your thoughts swirled around your head, a small knock was heard before Charli and Kyraâs heads peeped round the door.
âCan we come in?â Your best friends asked as you nodded.
Although there were a few years between the three of you, you were the bestest of friends.
You were more closer to Kyra, but you loved Charli just as much.
âWe saw you crying in the medical room, is everything okay bug?â Charli asked but before you could reply, the tears started again.
They both held your shaking body as you sobbed.
âIâm⊠Iâm pregnant.â You managed to say between sniffs.
Kyra and Charli just looked at each other, a look of shock on both their faces.
âOh bug, weâre here. Weâre going to be here no matter what you do.â Kyra reassured you, hugging you tighter.
â
The first World Cup match had been a bittersweet moment.
You loved watching all your friends play but you couldnât help but feel jealous.
The idea that you were pregnant had slightly settled down and you were slowly wrapping your head around the fact that you were going to have a baby.
Every morning since you found out, you were violently sick, not being able to keep anything down for the first few hours of the day.
Even if it wasnât morning, you found yourself so nauseous.
It was like you were constantly running to the bathroom to be sick.
You were so emotional too. Every sad video you watched, you cried.
When Steph scored, you cried.
In between the match and when you found out about the pregnancy, youâd rung your ex but he hung up the phone as soon as you began to say the word pregnant.
You didnât really care though, you didnât want him in your life of the babyïżœïżœs life.
Your parents took it badly, saying how disappointed they were before hanging up.
You had your teammates and thatâs all that mattered to you.
â
You were now six months pregnant.
The time had flown by and youâd found out you were having a little boy.
Just like you thought, all your teammates had been so supportive when you told them.
Kyra also moved to Arsenal to help support you, claiming thatâs sheâd do anything for her best friend.
You couldnât help but cry whilst you hugged her.
You were currently sat next to Kyra as you flew to Australia.
Australia were having a few friendlies and you were allowed to come and join in on a few training drills, and anyway, you loved coming back to your home country so who were you to say no?
The pane ride hadnât gone to plan though.
Little man didnât like the idea of flying and made it living hell for you.
You were either fast asleep or throwing your guts up.
âIâm sick of this now.â You sighed, settling down in your chair after running to the toilet for the fifth time.
âI know, bug. Not too long.â Caitlin said from behind you.
You safely arrived in Australia not long after, having a taxi there waiting to take you to camp.
The first to greet you was Mini.
She enveloped you in a hug, harper wrapping her arms around your leg.
âHi, Harps.â
âAuntie Y/N pick me up?â Harper asked, bringing her puppy eyes out.
âHarps, I canât anymore. I promise as soon as little man comes I will.â
âI love little man so itâs okay.â Harper said with a smile, walking away with Kyra.
âSheâs so sweet. I hope heâs as sweet.â
âNot when heâs a part you.â Mini joked, you sending her a piercing stare. â
âCome on, mini. You know better than to mess with the pregnant one.â Steph chirped in, resting a hand on your shoulder, rubbing it gently. âCome on, bug. You had a rough journey here, letâs get you and little man to bed.â
â
It was the third night at camp and youâd been tossing and turning all night.
It wasnât that you were uncomfortable or in pain, you just had really bad cravings.
You had been pared with Sam for camp this time, you being a striker so Tony thought why not pare you up with Australiaâs main striker.
âBug, whatâs wrong?â Sam asked, sitting up and turning on her bed side lamp.
âHe wonât stop kicking and I canât get the thought of a Big Mac out my mind.â You said, tears threatening to spill.
âIâll order you a Big Mac, Iâll stay awake until it comes.â Sam told you, picking up her phone.
âYouâre the best, Sammy. Thank you.â
âAnything for you and little man.â
â
Three months later, you were now nine months pregnant.
You had forced Caitlin to go to training, leaving you by yourself.
Caitlin made you promise that if you had any signs of contractions or your water breaking, youâd ring her.
Unknowing to Caitlin, youâd been having contractions since around three oâclock that morning but knew you were in early labour.
It wasnât until about an hour after she left, that your contraction took a turn for the worse.
They got a lot more painful and a lot closer together.
You made the decision to call Caitlin, her shouting at you over the phone, telling you off for not telling her.
She left straight away, walking through the front door not even fifteen minutes later.
âY/N!â Caitlin shouted, her and Steph running through the front door.
âHere.â You said through gritted teeth as you sat on the yoga ball, your hands delicately holding your bump.
âI canât believe you didnât tell me.â Caitlin said, but changed her mood from anger to sympathy as soon as she saw the tears in your eyes. âYouâre doing so well. Weâre here now.â
âHow quick are your contractions?â Steph asked, rubbing your back.
âSix minutes.â You managed to say, a contraction hitting.
âCome on, bug. Letâs get you to the hospital.â
Caitlin and Steph loaded the car up with the bags before getting you in.
Your labour continued to quicken and with luck being your worst enemy, you got stuck in the worst traffic on the m25.
You were now fully in active labour, pain constantly there.
âFuck, heâs coming. I can feel.â You said, throwing your head back in pain.
Caitlin shot Steph a panicked look in the mirror.
âOkay, bug. Iâm pulling over.â
Steph immediately jumped out the car whilst Caitlin called 999.
âBug, can I take your trousers off?â Steph questioned and you nodded, sweat dripping down your face.
âShit. I can see him.â Steph announced, helping you lift your leg onto the dashboard so you were in a comfortable position to push.
Caitlin listed carefully to the person over the phone, grabbing everything around the car that could be useful.
âBug, you need to push when your next contraction hits, okay?â Caitlin said and you nodded, grabbing her hand.
A contraction hit so you pushed with all your might, squeezing the living daylight out of Caitlinâs hand in the meantime.
âHis heads out.â Steph revealed, and you took a sigh of relief. âHeâs so close, bug. Your bubbas nearly here.â
âIt hurts too bad. Fuck, I canât do it.â You breathed out, your head thrown back in pain.
âYou can, bug. I know you can. One big push now.â Caitlin encouraged, laying a blanket down on your chest ready for your son.
âThatâs it, bug. Heâs coming. Look, heâs here. Heâs here, bug.â Steph cried, placing him in your chest.
Tears clouded your eyes as you looked down at him.
âHi, bubba. Oh I know, itâs okay. Mummyâs here.â You cooed as you rubbed his little back, his cries settling down to soft whimpers.
âThe ambulance should be with you within a few minutes. Whatever you do, do not cut the umbilical cord. I can hear him crying so thatâs all good. Is mum all good too?â The person over the phone asked.
âIâm all good.â You said, your eyes still focused on your baby boy.
âHeâs gorgeous, bug.â Steph whispered, kissing your head gently.
âHe is, Y/N. Iâm so proud of you, we both are.â Caitlin added, wiping the sweat from your forehead and pressing her lips to it.
âIâm sorry about your car.â You apologised, a panicked look spreading on your face.
âBug, I donât care about the car. You and little man are my main priorities.â Caitlin laughed slightly at your panic.
Blue lights and sirens were heard as the ambulance pulled up beside you in the lay by.
It wasnât long before you and your son were laying comfortably in a hospital bag, both of you being checked over.
He was perfect. A 7lb healthy baby boy.
Once you were settled, you took a picture of your son, sending it to the Matildaâs group chat.
You followed up with a message saying, âthe newest Tillie.â
Ellie immediately booked flights from France, alanna said she was already in her car driving down to London.
It made you so emotional how much they cared about your baby boy.
You were wrapped in your thoughts when Caitlin spoke up.
âWhatâs his name, bug?â Caitlin asked as she crawled him in her arms, Steph having had a cuddle a few minutes prior.
âKrew. Krew Y/L/N.â
âHi, Krew. Hi bubba.â Caitlin cooed, looking at the baby fast asleep in her arms.
You also messaged Kyra, telling her to come to the hospital.
Surprisingly, the normally energetic Kyra was so calm, gently knocking on the door.
She entered with a balloon and a bunch of flowers.
âKy, you didnât have to. Thank you.â
Kyra didnât respond though, her eyes focused on the baby in your arms.
âIâm so proud of you.â Kyra said, tears flowing down her cheeks as she hugged you.
âWould auntie Kyra like a cuddle?â You asked as she pulled away.
âAuntie Kyra would love a cuddle.â
The rest of the afternoon went smoothly, some other teammates coming and saying hello.
Caitlin decided sheâd stay the night so Steph went home, leaving the three of you alone.
Caitlin went to sleep not long after, having you promised her to wake her if you needed anything.
A small whimper was heard as you closed your eyes and you looked at Krew, whose little legs were kicking away.
A quiet cry followed, his face having a tiny frown on it.
âItâs okay, bubba. Shh, thatâs it.â You whispered, holding him close as he stopped crying.
You focused on all the gift presents in the corner of the room, all of them from teammates.
There were blankets, clothes, stuffed animals, everything.
âYou are so loved, little man.â

Telling Tales (Katrina Gorry x Reader)
Part 1
Set at the beginning of 2024, midway through the 2023/2024 season
âLadies, attention please. This is Kyra, as some of you know. Please make her feel welcome and show her the ropes in hereâ Jonas announced as Kyra entered the gym alongside him.
You were off in the corner with Leah and Katie when the young Aussie came in, lifting weights and not really paying attention to the introduction. Caitlin and Steph had left the group to make sure they were the first ones beside the newcomer, knowing her well from the national team.
âMorning, pestâ Steph teased, patting Kyraâs head before Caitlin pulled her into a headlock.
âMum, do somethingâ Kyra shouted towards Steph who cupped her own ear, pretending like she couldnât hear a word the young Aussie was saying as she battled to get out of Caitlinâs headlock. Katie re-hit play on the music as it pumped through the speaker and you all began to lift weights again.
âI thought this was The Arsenal not The Ausenal?â Katie laughed.
âJesus Christâ Leah groaned.
âHow long have you been sitting on that one?â Caitlin asked.
âSince I heard she was signinââ Katie smirked, almost like she was proud of herself for coining that term.
âIâm Y/nâ you said as you dropped the weights and smiled, sticking your hand out to Kyra for her to shake.
âKyraâ she smiled back. Your introduction had shocked the young girl. Your intimidating demeanour had never matched your bubbly and friendly personality.
âNice to meet youâ you shook her hand with a firm grip and turned back to the weights to start lifting again.
âAlways so politeâ Katie laughed in a teasing manner as you rolled your eyes, continuing on with your session.
âIs there anybody else you want to meet today?â Steph asked Kyra.
âWinâ she giggled.
âAs in the dog?â Caitlin laughed as Kyra nodded.
âY/nâ Steph shouted as you finished a rep and put the weights back. You jogged over to the Aussie trio and Steph wrapped her arms around your waist and your arm fell across her shoulders. You and Steph had been friends for years, and everyone in Arsenal was very comfortable with each other. âIs Win with you again this week?â She asked as you smiled and nodded. It was your turn, again, to watch the new Arsenal superstar this week.
âKyra wants to meet himâ Caitlin laughed.
âIâm having people over for dinner tonight, would you maybe like to come?â You asked the girl as Steph and Caitlin looked at you dumbfounded.
âWhereâs our invite?â Steph groaned.
âI put it in the group chat days agoâ you quipped defensively, taking out your phone to prove the point that you had actually put it in the chat several days ago. You shoved your phone into both of their faces as they now read your message and shrugged their shoulders. âDid Katie not tell you? She helped me organise itâ you laughed at Caitlin.
âKatie McCabeâ Caitlin shouted, stomping over to her girlfriend whose face dropped at the usage of her full name.
âCome on then kid, weâll get you startedâ you put your arm around Kyraâs shoulder and brought her over towards the weight equipment.
âPerfect, you can take over as her mother thenâ Steph shouted after you, making you both laugh. If only you knew.
-
It was later that evening when the squad had came over. A few of your teammates, that you considered close friends, Caitlin, Leah, Katie, Viv and Beth had come over to help you clean and cook before everyone else arrived. Steph was on Kyra duty, so she had text you to say she wouldnât be over at the normal time, which was usually earlier than everyone else, except for Katie who practically lived in your house. Youâd been really good friends with Steph since you met each other, but youâd been best friends with Katie since you signed for Arsenal a few years ago.
You greeted everyone as they came in, and Steph arrived last, as expected, with an overexcited Kyra beside her.
âKyra, heyâ you shouted, waving at the girl who came bouncing towards you. âWinâ you whistled, as the dog came to sit by your side. âWin, this is Kyraâ you introduced them, probably the opposite way around to what other people expected. Usually, the human would be introduced to the dog. âWin, say helloâ you patted her head as she stuck her paw in the air for Kyra to take it.
âHow the hell?â Leah look bewildered.
âWin never wants to leave her. Always cryinâ when someone else has to take herâ Katie explained with a laugh. Youâd had her all week but only had her three weeks prior to that too. It was great because you could bring her to training with you and she was familiar with the environment. You just hated when you had to bring her back, and she hated it too. Sometimes sheâd take a run for it and sit in the passenger seat of your car, just waiting to go home with you.
Kyra dropped down to the ground to start rubbing and patting her, and you knew she was loving all the attention she was getting from the young Aussie midfielder.
âRight, everyone in for a photo with Winâ Beth shouted as she set a timer on her phone and placed it on the counter, being held up by your kettle.
âUpâ you said as the dog jumped into your arms and you caught her with ease. You all smiled for the photo and a lot of you had shared the post to Instagram later in the evening. Kyra had shared the picture, captioning it best night ever with my new family. You were stood right beside the young girl, catching the attention of another Australian player, on her nightly Instagram scrolling, that youâd yet to meet.
It was late before people started to head out. Youâd invited a few people to stay the night and a couple took you up on the offer, the early crew gang along with Lia, Steph and Kyra.
âHow are you finding England?â You asked Kyra, who you were sat shoulder to shoulder with. Although you were slouched down, nearly lying fully on the floor while everyone else was trapped in some game youâd both been knocked out of.
âIâm loving it so far. Itâs great to have Caitlin and Steph here and then Katrina is just at West Ham and Charli is at Spurs, so itâs really all coming togetherâ she smiled.
âYouâll be a great asset to the teamâ you patted her head as she eventually settled her head on shoulder. She was like the little sister that you never had, although, she viewed you more like a mum, and you only grew closer from there.
Kyra was fascinated by you, how caring and overly nice you were. She pondered over it for weeks before it finally clicked with her. She wanted to set you up with the perfect person, and she had just the person in mind.

âMum, Iâm telling youâ Kyra squealed at the dinner table.
âOkay, Iâve had this conversation with both of you already, please stop calling me mum. Itâs confusing Harperâ Katrina said, slapping Kyra and Charliâs heads simultaneously.
âI didnât say anything!â Charli whined, while Harper continued to play with a toy in her lap, oblivious to the conversation happening above her.
âShe is so your type. Sheâs smart, sheâs funny, sheâs attractive and sheâs got her shit togetherâ Kyra rambled and Katrina slapped her once again for swearing infront of Harper.
âOiâ Katrina grunted, eyeing the toddler in earshot of Kyraâs cursing.
âPlease just agree to meet her so this can stopâ Charli said, covering Harperâs ears.
âFineâ Katrina snapped, rolling her eyes. In truth, since Katrina saw the Instagram story Kyra shared of you, Katrina had the same opinion of you that Kyra had just rambled on about. You were her type, you were attractive and from what sheâd heard from Steph, you very much so had your shit together.
Overjoyed with the news that Katrina was comfortable enough to meet you, Kyra slipped into training the next morning and grabbed Caitlin and Steph to help hatch a plan. Kyra explained her thoughts to Caitlin and Steph about how she thought the two of you would suit eachother really well.
âHoly shitâ Steph gasped.
âHow have we not realised this before?â Caitlin said, punching Stephâs arm lightly.
âTheyâre like perfect for eachother!â Steph shouted.
âWho is?â Leah asked.
âY/n and Katrinaâ Kyra explained.
âFrom West Ham?â She asked as all three nodded. âYeah, I can see thatâ Leah laughed.
âSo, how do we introduce them?â Caitlin asked as all three sat puzzled. Leah had been pulled away into a meeting with Kim, while you and Katie were stuffed into a corner of the canteen, whispering secretively about something.
âIâve got itâ Kyra shouted as all three of them huddled closer together and Kyra explained the plan.
-
The whole Arsenal squad, plus a few London based Aussieâs and their friends and partners, filtered into Caitlin and Katieâs house during a league break. The music was loud and the house was dark, apart from some type of strobe lighting that you and Katie had impulsively bought and stuck up during Covid.
When you arrived, you instantly found your best friend and worked your way out to the shed in the garden where you could both talk in private. You and Katie had practically built that shed and made it a man-cave type place where you hung out, alone, in peace. It had a sofa bed, a TV, a PlayStation and a mini fridge. What more could you ask for?
âThis party is a set up, by the wayâ Katie told you as you both sipped on your drinks, sitting on the sofa in the cave.
âWhat do you mean?â You asked as a frown took over your face.
âTheyâre tryinâ to set ye up with someone from the Australian teamâ Katie laughed, leading to you joining in due to how stupid that sounded.
âWhich one?â You tried to ask but she shrugged, Caitlin had left out that part. âAustraliansâ you said as you playfully rolled your eyes.
âHow long do ye think we can hide out here?â Katie asked.
âHopefully the whole nightâ you smirked, flicking on the TV and PlayStation.
It had been a good long while, but eventually Caitlin found you both and an angry expression covered her face as she stood in the doorway.
âThere you both are! We have been looking for you everywhereâ she snapped.
âWeâve been out here since Y/n/n got hereâ Katie replied, not looking away from the screen.
âWhich was?â Caitlin asked while you quickly checked your watch, before going back to the screen.
âTwo hours agoâ you replied, aggressively pressing buttons on your controller.
âGet inside, nowâ Caitlin sternly said as Katie paused the game.
âThat is her serious voiceâ Katie whispered as you nodded and both stood up, following Katieâs angry girlfriend inside. You walked behind Katie, who flung the door open, stepping aside so you could go through first. Only, she didnât see on the opposite side of the door that someone was leaning against it, clearly not expecting it to fly open. You were quick to react, catching the falling woman and helping her back to her feet.
âThank youâ she smiled as she turned to face you.
âItâs coolâ you replied nonchalantly. You tried to keep your cool in that moment, but you couldnât take your eyes off the woman stood in front of you.
âI donât think weâve met properly. Iâm Katrina I play for-â she began.
âWest Hamâ you interrupted with your voice creeping a bit high as you coughed. âI know. Itâs Y/nâ you smiled.
âI knowâ she said as she looked you up and down.
âCan I get you another drink?â You asked, looking toward the empty cup in her hand. Steph and Caitlin smirked at the other as you and Katrina wandered off to the fridge to get another drink.
âOkay, so the plan-â Kyra began.
âShut up you pestâ Steph groaned. âWe didnât actually need your planâ she whispered, pointing over at the two of you talking, far away from anybody else at the party.
You spent the rest of the night with Katrina. You were beer pong buddies, you danced to some songs that played and eventually, you found yourselves alone in the living room. You were both deep in conversation about everything and anything when you were interrupted by people leaving, coming to say goodbye. Katrina noticed Kyra looked tired and decided to be a good adopted mother and take her home.
âIâm really sorry, but seeming as that one thinks Iâm her mum, I should probably get her homeâ Katrina smiled as you looked over towards Kyra who was pouting like a child and rubbing her eyes. You nodded at the woman while she beckoned Kyra over, and things went silent for a few seconds.
âIâm sorry if this is a bit forward, but I had a really nice time tonight. Could I maybe get your number?â You asked in a whispered tone as a smile lit up her face. She took your phone and typed her number in before reaching up, almost needing to jump to kiss your cheek, before heading off with a tired Kyra that you got a light fist bump off.
You slumped down on the couch hovering your thumbs over your new contact before eventually closing your phone and your eyes.
The next morning you were woken by Katie after youâd passed out on her couch.
âGet up ye big fuckinâ lumpâ Katie shouted pushing your shoulder. Sheâd always referred to you as a big lump. You stood at 6â2, almost an entire foot taller than her. She burst out laughing when you groaned, rubbing your eyes and began adjusting to your surroundings. The house was in a state. Caitlin was frantically moving around to clean while Katie passed you a mug of tea and sat beside you on the couch. You took a quick sip, placing it on a coaster and got up to help Caitlin without speaking to your best friend. Youâd taken packed, heavy black bags out of her hands and took them outside to put in the bin
âWhy canât you be as helpful as Y/n?â Caitlin asked Katie who just smirked and shrugged.
âMaybe go out with Y/n thenâ Katie laughed, going back to scrolling on her phone.
âThank youâ Caitlin whispered as you got back in from taking bags to the bins outside.
âHey Cait?â You asked as you were putting away dishes from the dishwasher and Caitlin was sweeping the floor.
âYeah?â She replied, stopping herself from cleaning for a minute, sensing the tone in your voice was urgent.
âYour friend, Katrina. Whatâs her-â you stopped yourself, trying to phrase it correctly.
âSheâs singleâ Caitlin blurted out as you nodded. âAnd then sheâs got Harperâ Caitlin added.
âHarper?â You asked.
âSomeone clearly didnât watch our documentaryâ Caitlin teased before continuing. âHarper, as in her three year old childâ Caitlin explained as you nodded.
âYouâre tryinâ to set up Y/n/n with someone who has a kid?â Katie laughed from the door which made you turn your body around to face her. âShe hates kidsâ Katie continued as Caitlin scowled.
She was right, you did hate kids.
âDo you?â Caitlin asked, raising her eyebrow.
âWith a passionâ Katie confirmed, laughing again as you awkwardly joined in, not knowing what to say
âYou infuriate meâ Caitlin snapped at her girlfriend and stormed out of the room.
âThatâs my queueâ you informed her, patting Katie on the shoulder, wishing her good luck with her angry girlfriend, and heading out of the house.
When you got home you sat on the couch, opting to just have an easy day to cure the tiredness and slight hangover you had. You were scrolling through some platforms trying to find something to watch, when you eventually came by something that caught your eye.
Matildas: The World at Our Feet
You got comfortable before you clicked play. You ended up watching every single episode and Katrinaâs storyline was pretty emotional to say the least. You thought about texting her, but did you really want to get into a situationship, or worse, a relationship with someone who had a kid?
Itâs not a lie that you and kids would probably never be put in the same sentence. You truly despised them. The constant crying, the screaming and shouting, the unpredictability, the thoughts of you being responsible for another human. No. Absolutely not.
But you liked Katrina, it was tough. You thought about it for a few hours, before finally caving.
Y/n
Hey, itâs Y/n, from last night. I was wondering if you maybe wanted to get dinner when youâre free?
Katrina saw your message come through and couldnât help the smile that settled on her face.
Katrina
Iâd love that, when would you be free?
It took a few days for your schedules to match up to when you were both free, but you were finally heading out for dinner tonight.
Charli and Kyra were in charge of minding Harper in Katrinaâs absence, but Steph had also made a magical appearance over to their house. Unbeknownst to them, Steph was there to watch them and Harper.
âWho are you going out with?â Steph asked Katrina as she got ready, leaving the children, Charli and Kyra included, downstairs playing Mario-Kart.
âJust, you know, a friend of a friendâ Katrina smirked as Steph nodded and smiled. There was a knock on the door that halted the conversation and Steph waved Katrina off who was heading to answer it.
âYou finish up getting ready, Iâll get it. Itâs probably their pizzaâ Steph said as she got off the bed. Katrina didnât push, she knew you were collecting her but not for another half an hour and you told her youâd text when you were outside.
âOh, hey Stephyâ you smiled when your friend swung the door open.
âY/n?â Steph said, looking at you up and down until she focused on the flowers in your hand. âNo wayâ.
âWhat?â You frowned.
âWhen she said a friend of a friend I didnât know the friend she was talking about was me and the friend of mine she was dating was youâ she poked at your chest. âWhy didnât you tell me?â She was whisper shouting at you, to not alert the trio in the living room or the woman upstairs.
âWell, itâs our first dateâ you laughed. âI havenât told anybodyâ
âNot even Katie?â Steph asked as you shook your head.
âSteph, whoâs at the door?â Katrina barked as she swung it further open to get a view. âOh, hiâ she smiled.
âHeyâ you smiled back. âUh, these are for youâ you handed her the flowers as Steph raised her eyebrows at you. Youâd never been a flower-buyer type for previous girls.
âThank you so much. Can you just give me two seconds and Iâll meet you in the car?â She asked as you nodded.
âIâll see you tomorrow, Stephyâ you poked Stephâs nose before you walked back to the car.
âMini, why didnât you invite her in?â Steph asked as she closed the door, following Katrina into the kitchen who was putting the flowers into a vase.
âI donât want Harper seeing someone new and getting attached. What if it doesnât work out and then Harper gets upset?â Katrina breathed out as Steph nodded in understanding.
âIâll take good care of all three of your kidsâ Steph said softly, squeezing her shoulder almost as if she was telling Katrina she was proud of her for putting herself out there.
âWe share custody of Kyra, donât forget thatâ Katrina laughed before hugging the defender and saying goodbye to all three children in the living room. It wasnât long until she got into the car and you began driving. âIâm sorry if it came across rude I didnât invite you in, itâs just-â she tried to explain, but you shook your head.
âI get it. Dating with a kid must be hardâ you smiled softly and she felt like you took the words right out of her mouth. She replayed the conversation you had at the party, and she remembered she never once brought up Harper.
âHow did you know I have a kid? Stalkerâ Katrina teased as you laughed.
âWell, Caitlin told me and then gave me shit I didnât watch your World Cup documentaryâ you explained as Katrina laughed. âSo, I watched itâ you added.
âOh yeah? What did you think?â She asked.
âYouâre uh, very inspirationalâ you coughed, staring at the road straight ahead of you with both your hands tightening their grip of the steering wheel.
âWhy? Because of Harper?â She asked, stroking your arm softly with her fingertips and feeling how tense you were.
âWell, yeahâ you nodded. âBut also how you manage to deal with Kyra on a regular basisâ you chuckled as she slapped your arm lightly and laughed at you.
Dinner went nicer than you had expected it to. You took her to a fancy London restaurant and paid. Your conversation was almost as if youâd known each other for years, and you couldnât remember dating someone ever being this easy before. She showed you pictures of Harper now and how much bigger she was than in the docu-series. You also made her realise you had no clue about kids, which was meant to worry her, but instead she found cute.
âSheâs grownâ you pointed out as Katrina showed you a recent photo of the two of them.
âYeah, they do thatâ Katrina laughed as you playfully rolled your eyes back at her.
Katrina had offered to get herself home, but you immediately shook your head at her and opened the passenger door for her to get in the car. When you arrived back to her house, you brought the car to a stop.
âTonight was really niceâ you smiled.
âI thought so tooâ she smiled back.
âWould you, maybe, want to do something again?â You asked as she nodded and leaned over to kiss your cheek.
âText me, okay?â she replied before getting out of the car and walking up the path to the house. You realised you were already in deep when you didnât take your eyes off the girl until the front door shut.
âMummy, I missed youâ Harper squealed when Katrina got in.
âI missed you too monkey. Did auntie Steph not put you to bed?â Katrina frowned, scooping the toddler into her arms.
âLet me goâ Kyra shouted.
âYou cheatedâ Charli shouted back.
âThere is only meant to be one child in this house, and neither of you are it!â Steph groaned, trying desperately to pull the pair apart.
âHey!â Katrina shouted as all three of them stopped in their tracks.
âShe-â Kyra tried to explain.
âDonâtâ Katrina warned. âCharli, put Harper to bedâ she added, handing the baby over to the blonde.
âGo help her, and try not kill each otherâ Steph pushed Kyra to follow the Spurs player up the stairs.
âYou did cheatâ Charli whispered.
âCharlotteâ Katrina shouted in a warning tone again, before it went silent and two older Australian duo let out a shared laugh.
âSo, howâd it go?â Steph asked.
âI really like herâ Katrina smiled as Steph almost leapt at her out of excitement.
âI knew you wouldâ Steph added with a squeal.
-
Youâd been on a few more dates before you made it official. You eventually got the honour of being introduced to Harper and had fully respected Katrinaâs decision to wait until it was official until you met her. Surprisingly, you actually really enjoyed when Harper tagged along on dates now. Youâd always plan something fun for all three of you, like the zoo or the cinema. Harper became very comfortable around you, often wanting you to put her on your shoulders or hold your hand. Apart from her own mum, you were her new favourite person, and apart from her mum, she was yours.
Eventually, after a few months, things became so serious with Katrina that you were collecting Harper from pre-school if she couldnât, or bringing her to Katrinaâs match if you didnât have one yourself that day. Your friends all knew you two were dating, but youâd never thought of taking her out with you due to Harper needing to be minded. You gave a hand with babysitting duties now too when Katrina needed a night with her friends, although, you didnât view it as babysitting. In fact, you yourself were opting a lot more lately for a night in with Katrina and Harper than a night out with your team mates. But after taking enough shit from Katie that you never do anything anymore, you decided to invite Katrina out to do something with them.
âWould you maybe want to go out with my friends some evening? Iâd like to introduce you properly to themâ you smiled across from her at the dinner table, where only the two of you were sitting.
âWe can ask Charli if sheâll mind Harper?â Katrina beamed.
âCharliâ you shouted as she came crashing through the door, Harper following in behind her and jumping into your lap, poking you in the face making you laugh. âWould you mind looking after Harps one evening this week?â You asked as she giggled and put her hands out for Harper to run back to her. You helped the toddler back to the ground to run back towards her big sister.
âIâll take that as a yesâ Katrina laughed.
-
The night rolled around for you to bring Katrina out, and Kyra was buzzing to introduce her two mums to the team as her mums. When Katrina headed outside with Kyra to get into the taxi, you were sat at the bottom of the stairs, fixing your shoes.
âIâll be out in two secondsâ you shouted after them, waiting until the front door was closed to start your routine. âCharlotteâ you said from the living room door with your arms folded.
âI know, I know, bed by 9pm, no sweets, no scary movies and nobody in or outâ she recited like a hymn.
âHarps, Iâll see you later, yeah?â You smiled as the little toddler came running towards you, wrapping her arms around your legs. You bent down to give her a fist bump before patting Winâs head, and heading out to the taxi.
âLove youâ Harper shouted as she ran back towards Charli, whose head shot to your eyes which were beaming out of your head.
âHas she ever-â Charli asked as you shook your head, still speechless. âSay it back, donât upset herâ Charli whispered.
âI love you too, Harperâ you eventually got out, and smiled as the toddler waved goodbye to you.
âHave a nice nightâ Charli said softly as you walked out of the living room and towards the door, with a massive grin on your face.
âEverything okay?â Katrina asked as you got in and you nodded with a smile.
âYouâll never believe-â you tried to say.
âParty time, yeah!â Kyra shouted.
âShut it, you pestâ Katrina groaned as Kyra started playing with the LED lights that the taxi had inside of it.
The night was going really good, Katrina and your mates were getting along really well. Caitlin and Steph just kept giving you thumbs up from the other side of the table, delighted their plan had worked out. You and Katie were sat beside each other, bickering about something that happened in training the other day.
âFineâ you shouted, eventually rising from the table and storming off.
âWhatâs happened now?â Caitlin asked with a roll of the eyes.
âI proved her wrong and she owes me a drinkâ Katie laughed.
âYouâll get used to those pair acting like children when theyâre togetherâ Caitlin informed Katrina who laughed.
âI still canât believe yeâs set up Y/n with someone who has a kidâ Katie laughed, as Katrina turned her head to look at her.
âKatieâ Caitlin warned.
âWhat do you mean?â Katrina asked, frown still ever present on her face.
âI just mean, Y/n hates kids. Never showed any desire to have any, so I donât know why they thought settinâ her up to play happy families with ye was goinâ to work. No offenceâ Katie grinned.
âEnough nowâ Caitlin sternly said as Katrina got up from her seat.
âMiniâ Steph sighed. Without another word, Katrina left the bar and got a taxi home. Kyra quickly followed her outside and jumped in to the taxi too. When you got back to the table, a lot of the girls had worried expressions on their faces after hearing the interaction play out between your girlfriend and your best friend. Caitlin was giving Katie an earful while Steph sat with her head in her hands.
âWhatâs gone on?â You asked, slamming the drink in front of your best mate. âWhereâs Katrina?â You frowned, looking around, presuming they would say in the bathroom. Caitlin gave Katie the angry eyes you were all too familiar with seeing your best friend getting from her girlfriend.
âYeah, look-â Katie began.
âWhat the fuck did you say?â You dragged the girl up by the collar, forcing her off the chair she had just been sat in. Leah and Viv quickly rose to their feet to separate the two of you as Katie just held her hands up in surrender.
âI just may have mentioned your hatred for kidsâ Katie said with a guilty look on your face. âI was tryinâ to make a point of how, ye know, ye must really like her if youâre willinâ to put up with her kidâ Katie shrugged in Vivâs grip. Leah was still firmly holding onto you and taking a tighter grip as you lunged forward.
âYou are a fucking idiotâ you spat out in anger. âDo you not know how protective over Harper she is? Do you not realise how much effort Iâve put in to make her feel comfortable having me around her?â You snapped as she put her eyes to the floor. âLet me goâ you grunted at Leah, who did what you asked as you grabbed your jacket and stormed out. Viv finally released Katie as the Irish girl slumped back into her chair.
âI donât think Iâve ever seen Y/n so angryâ Leah said to Viv as they walked back to their seats.
âYou need to apologise to her, and Katrinaâ Caitlin scowled as Katie nodded. You forgot about the concept of ordering or flagging down a taxi, instead opting to walk to Katrinaâs house. A walk that would usually take 45 minutes took you 20, as you practically sprinted there. You knocked on the door, and Charli answered with Harper in her arms.
âOh, shitâ Charli said
âShitâ Harper repeated. You raised your eyebrows at Charli as Harper made grabby hands for you. The blond handed Harper off to you and she let you inside, knowing if she did, you wouldnât repeat the curse word she just taught Harper to her mother.
âWhereâs mummy?â You asked the toddler as she pointed towards the staircase. You placed her down in the living room, patting Winâs head once again before heading upstairs towards Katrinaâs bedroom. Win was your dog now. Although she was the Arsenal mascot, it was decided she could live with you full time. You knocked before letting yourself in, watching on as Katrina was sitting on the edge of the bed, in floods of tears and Kyra was sat beside her. âCrossy, can you give us a minute?â You asked as the young girl quickly left the room. You were a giant in comparison to her, and were slightly intimidating, so she was not willing to debate. âKatrina-â you began the second Kyra left, but your girlfriend raised her hand to stop you.
âI think enough has been said tonightâ Katrina managed to get out, holding back a sob.
âNo, I donât think soâ you disagreed.
âWhat was your main objective of this relationship? If you hate kids so much why did you do this to me? Has this all been some type of game to you or something?â She was whispering, so as to not let any of the three hear that you were arguing.
âThis hasnât been- darlinâ I-â you tried to plead your case once again.
âShe told me exactly how you felt and sheâs your best friend, Y/n. So donât tell me itâs not how you feel, why would our situation be any different?â She put her head in her hands and finally allowed herself to cry.
âI donât knowâ you shrugged as silence filled the air, until you spoke again. âWell, actually, I doâ you said. âI knew from the moment we met that night that I really liked you and I knew what I was getting into when I asked you out. I knew you had Harper, I knew how much she meant to you, and itâs different with you because-â you hesitated âIâm in love with youâ you breathed out. âAnd I love Harper. I love our little life together and the little family we are making. My favourite part of the week is when you ask me to collect her from pre schoolâ you sighed, dropping onto the bed next to her and feeling your own eyes start to well up with tears.
âY/n-â Katrina took a breath of relief.
âI donât care if you want to believe Katie, because what she said is true. But itâs past tense, my perspective changed the second you came into my life. I wouldnât change anything we have and it certainly would not be Harperâ you pulled her into a tight hug, making sure she felt completely reassured. âIf I could change one thing, it would be our two older kidsâ you chuckled as you felt her tears fall against you as she laughed against your chest.
âIâm so sorryâ she squeezed you tighter
âYou have nothing to apologise for. I understand she is your priority and you donât just let anybody at random into her life, but you are both my priority tooâ you informed her. You both sat there for awhile, wrapped up in eachother.
âIâm going to go get Harper and put her to bedâ Katrina said as you nodded.
âIâll go make some teaâ you mumbled as you finally parted and walked downstairs together. You headed straight to the kitchen as Katrina scooped Harper up off the ground.
âTime for bed monkeyâ she said as Harper protested. âFine, five minutesâ Katrina sighed as she took off in a run towards you in the kitchen. A huge bundle of laughter came from the two of you and Katrina couldnât help but smile.
âAll sorted then?â Kyra said as Katrina nodded
âWe could have told you she loved Harperâ Charli laughed and Kyra rolled her eyes but eventually started to laugh too.
âWhat do you mean?â Katrina asked.
âWell firstly, she told Harper she loved her earlier because Harper told her she loved her and she would do anything for that kid to make her happyâ Charli smiled as Katrinaâs heart melted at the sound of the story mixed with the noise of the two of you messing in the kitchen.
âWhen weâre babysitting Harper, she gives you the same protective talk before she goesâ Kyra giggled. âNobody in our out Kyra, do I make myself clear?â Kyra added, mimicking you
âBed before 9pmâ Charli joined in, also mocking your voice.
âWhich clearly wasnât listened to tonightâ you frowned, looking at the time which read 11:27pm and having the wired toddler clung to your back.
âCome on Harps, bed timeâ Katrina said as the toddler finally gave in. You gave Katrina a look, which told her you could take her up as the woman just smiled back.
âWill I take you to bed?â You asked as you got smacked in the face, which was her way of saying yes, and being excited about it.
âShitâ Harper shouted from the staircase as Katrinaâs draw dropped to the floor. Kyra immediately looked at Charli who had a look of guilt on her face.
âCharlotte Grant you are never babysitting againâ you shouted.
âAngry mum is so annoyed with youâ Kyra shoved her blonde friend, standing up off the couch.
âNo, no Kyra. Donât call Y/n mum now tooâ Katrina warned.
âDamn it, scary mum is going to shout at me, isnât she?â Charli whined, walking after Kyra into the kitchen.
âWe are not your parentsâ Katrina shouted, to no avail.
Meanwhile, upstairs you were wrestling with a toddler, trying to get her to go to sleep. After multiple arguments, sheâd got dressed into one of your Arsenal jerseys and youâd agreed to read her a story. After about 25 minutes when you still hadnât made an appearance downstairs, Katrina tiptoed upstairs to look for you. Sure enough, the story worked wonders for you and Harper. You were both asleep, snuggled into eachother with your legs hanging off of the little princess bed. Katrina snapped a photo of the moment, before she gently woke you up to bring you to her bedroom.
âLove youâ you mumbled as you rested your head on her chest and her fingernails scraped the back of your neck.
âLove you tooâ Katrina smiled, pulling you a little bit tighter against her.
Your hatred of children was long gone now that you were loved up and had two grown up daughters and a toddler.

microphone drop j.f x reader
plot: In which Vanessa forgets to tell Jessie she is micâd up and all she talks about is you
warning: just fluff
Jessie was in the gym after training when Vanessa caught her.
âJeff, Jflem, Jessatron, the Jessanator, the-â
âHiâ Jessie cut her friend off before she said random words with âjessâ in front of it.
âWhatchu up to?â Vanessa asked and Jessie motioned to the weights next to her ânice, hot your PB yet?â
Jessie crossed her head âno but y/n is helping me at homeâ
Vanessa smiled at the mention of you, she thought you were good for Jessie. You made her happy and Sinc always says she would never forget how giddy Jessie got after the first Australian friendly and you asked to swap shirts with her.
âHow is y/n/n?â
Jessie blushed, âgood, really good uhm did I tell you about my plan yet or-â
âNo tell me, tell me nowâ
Even Vanessa forgot she was micâd.
âWell after international break and before Olympics I was planning on proposing and-â âwhat!â Vanessa jumped up in excitement
Jessie looked around nervously âyes?â
âThis is huge Jessieâ Vanessa smiled at her and she rubbed her already red cheeks âHow are you going to do it?â
Jessie sat down next to Vanessa and pulled out her phone, excited to go into detail about this with someone.
âOkay so this is the ring, I saw her look at it before when we were buying a gift for her sister, it kinda gave me the whole idea in the first place but anywayâ she rambled before going to her next photo of a FaceTime call with y/nâs parents as they gave a thumbs up.
âThen I got the permission from her parents but she likes to call them her rentals which I donât getâ
âOh itâs like Australian slang there, parental figures without the âpaââ Vanessa explained and Jessieâs eyes widened as she finally got it âHow do you know that?â
âEllieâ.
Jessie nodded before swiping to the next picture of confirmed plane tickets to Australia, your homeland âshe thinks weâre going on a spontaneous trip to see her family, which we are but Iâm also going to propose to her thereâ she explained and Vanessa swore she had never seen her captain so happy.
âAnd then I bought her this dress she always said she wanted but she said it was too cold to wear in London so I got it so she could wear it in Australiaâ Jessie said, swiping to the next picture as Vanessa realised Jessie had made an album dedicated to the planning of the big event.
âYou going to do a speechâ
âI want to try, I wrote one but Iâm not that great at remembering linesâ Jessie said, scratching behind her ear âthatâs fine youâre good at thinking on the spot and also knowing y/n she will be saying yes even before your knee hits the groundâ
Jessie smiled âI only plan on doing the âproposalâ thing once so I want it to be perfect for herâ
Vanessa slapped her friend in the shoulder supportively âIâm sure y/n will think itâs perfect no matter whatâ.
It wasnât until later when Jessie had finished spotting Vanessa on chest pressed and the social media came over asking for the mic was when her face paled over.
âYou were micâd the entire time?â She asked, her cheeks red as panic now evident on her face.
âDid I forget to tell you?â Vanessa asked as she thought back to their conversation.
âYou know you cannot use any of thatâ.

you were running down the line with Renard behind you coming at you with pace. You looked to your left to see Pina who had just been subbed on and passed the ball to her. You didnât notice Renard was now on your left side and as the ball left your foot you got shoved forward by Renard and as she kept running her cleats scraped against your face from the bottom of your cheek to next to your eyebrow. To make things worse the left side of your face slammed against the ground right onto your new cut which burned. You instantly tried to stand up to get out of the way of play but your head was spinning and your sense of direction was off so you didnât even know which way was up. Instead you decided to lay back down and try get the attention of alexia or Ingrid. You waved your hand in the way you thought was up and then felt hands on your back.
âHey Joeyâ the voice said and you relaxed instantly in your hold. It was Ellie. âWhatâs wrong?â She said trying to help you sit up which you tried to contribute to but she ended up doing most of the work and winced when she saw the left side of your face covered in your blood and your eye almost swelled shut with bruising already forming. âOh darlâ she said cupping your face as she called out for someone from the Barcelona team to come and help you aswell the medics.
âEllie shhhhâ you said rubbing your head and rubbing the blood from them onto your forehead aswell. Once you brought your hands down alexia, pina, Ona and Ingrid had now joined you just as you noticed the blood and looked up to Ellie
âEllie what happened?â You say as tears started filling your eyes and Ellieâs face softened knowing you most likely had concussion
âItâs ok you just took a nasty fall and got a cut on your cheek, your gonna be ok I promiseâ she said as you nodded and alexia pulled your body back slightly to rest against her as she sat down behind you.
The Barcelona medics arrived, stood you up with the help of ale and Ingrid, wiped up most of the blood and realised that you were showing signs of concussion and needed to be subbed off.
âNoo ale I donât want to go off! I just came on!â You whined trying to grab onto her to stay on the pitch even though she was walking with you off the pitch
âYou didnât bebita you came on ages agoâ she tried to explain as she held your smaller hand in hers and rubbed over your knuckles knowing it comforted you. You sighed and leaned into her side just as you got to the edge of the field were you were transferred to mapis side as she immediately began doing the same thing alexia just had been as you slowly started leaning more and more of your weight into her.
âHey bebita your gonna need to stay awake until they get you all fixed okayâ mapi said gently as she pushed your flyaways out of your face and kissed your forehead as you merely nodded and opened your eyes a little bit more.
The medics bandaged your face and gave you ice for your eye and you got diagnosed with stage 1 concussion and got cleared to go back to the bench to watch the rest of the game as long as you wore your ear defenders and kept your ice pack on your eye to which you agreed and mapi said she would watch you. By the time you got out there they were announcing the extra time as you went to the bench and sat near Vicky who laughed at you as you tried to shove her which caused her to laugh harder as you pouted before Frido pulled you into her lap and held your ice to your eye for you so you could focus on the game.
âAnd back on the bench we have 15 year old Australian Y/n Y/l/n who looks like she has a shiner coming through and matching cuts to her fellow team mate Ona batlleâ the commentator announced as the bench laughed and Ona winked at you from the field.
When alexia scored her goal Frido was up and carried you with her like you were a koala and she was your tree. Alexia took you off her and span you around after she had whipped her shirt off as you groaned at her sweaty body.
âYuck ale your all sweatyâ you complained as she laughed and gave you a big kiss on the head before pina came and you gave her a big hug for her assist as she kissed your forehead too. Then Frido came and took you back to the bench where you basically fell asleep in her lap for the rest of the match.
âAnd it looks like Barcelonas young talent has fallen asleepâ the women commentator said âI wouldnât blame her she took a hard knock to the head and sheâs got a black eye forming and that massive cutâ the man said as the camera locks in on you and frido on the bench as she absentmindedly runs her hand through your hair.
When the whistle blows you are jostled out of your sleep and immediately know whatâs happened as everyone is screaming and cheering. Your first thought is to find Ellie and make sure she is ok as she is your national team mate and one of your favourite people. When she spots you she pulls you into a big hug which you accept as she gently lifts your headphones to whisper in your ear
âIâm glad youâre ok, you had me nervous for a whileâ she said pulling back slightly to cup your cheeks and inspect your face. She winces, kisses your forehead and then tells you to go celebrate which is when you run into Ona.
âOni! Look! weâre matching!â You say as you walk into her arms after repeatedly pointing to your bandaged cheek
âI knowâ she laughs but doesnât lift your ear defenders due to close proximity and you them blocking out louder noises (which Ellie didnât know)
âDid your sleep get some of your energy and awareness back?â She asked to which you nodded slightly before you change the topic and ask her to get a photo of you guys together with your medals, the trophy and your matching injuries to which she accepts. She kisses your hairline before walking with you to find the others.
What you found unfair was Ona got to take off her bandage for the presentation while Alexia made you keep the big white plaster on your face which stick out like a sore thumb on your tanned skin even when you whined to her about wanting to match with Ona fully
âEveryone knows you have the same knocked up faceâ she laughed and ruffled your hair which you grumbled about as well
âBut ale I want us to be fully matching not half matchingâ you said as ale shook her head
âYours is bigger than Onitaâs besides sheâs a big girlâ she said that part jokingly âand she can decide whether or whether not she wants it onâ you were about to jump in and say you too where a big girl when ale continued âand no you arenât and im the captain and I decide whether or whether not you keep it onâ she said wrapping her arm around your shoulder as you leaned into her but looked up at her with an innocent smile
âSince your captain you can just make her out one back on though aleâ you said practically begging as she sighed. Ona didnât end up putting on a new bandaid which you werenât very happy about.
You werenât allowed to be around the kids because they would be too loud and crazy for you right now (ale, irene and martas words) so you were stuck with the adults for celebrations, the bus and plane ride and alexia even stayed with you at Mapi and Ingridâs for a couple days just to make sure you were fully fine. The photo you and Ona took got posted to the Barcelona page with the caption; âput their bodies on the line and for a good cause â€ïžđâ to which you reposted it to your instagram with the captain âIâve gotta do everything you do @onabatlle đđâ to which Ona reposted and said âof course my little shadow â€ïžâ
And it went viral as the fans found it hilarious that you and Ona were not taking the injuries that seriously.
A/n Sorry this took so long and wasnât even any of the requests yâall sent
